Where to go for a late dinner or snack on a Friday nite, especially when it's also Halloween? Fortunately they are open til midnight. Some eateries are closed or will be by 10 p.m. Geared to local's tastes, it's popular if groups are willing to wait 32 minutes or try the take out order counter. On a busy night like this certain items like chicken had a long wait too. Wise move for the weekend diners that Zippy's stays open til the stroke of midnight.

Love that they offer fresh mashed potatoes as a starch option to your entree. Mister and I enjoy this location. Easy parking, friendly service, clean restaurant.

April special. Rice, chili, Korean chicken, and salad which my mother requested because the promotion had corn instead.

The staff at this location is wonderful. Our hostess (I forgot aunties name) was so sweet and so was our attentive waitress Sarah. She checked on us often and refilled my cup before I asked lol. Offered us dessert but also didn't make me and my mother feel rushed. I have a Velcro dog as well in her bag and she asked if she needed anything. Very sweet. Food was was quick and piping hot and most importantly completely correct as my mother and I both had modifications. Recommend.

Service was great. The staff were really friendly and accommodating especially with all 4 of your little kids coming in like a wrecking ball. Got the ZipMin and French fries. Fries are always the best because they are crunchy and soft on the inside.

Menu at Zippy's.... They have so many choices and such great pics! April Deal: Korean Fried Chicken and Chili Mixed Plate

Waitress was super nice. I changed my order after it was already put in and she kindly said no problem!!

It's a Zippy's! What can I say? First the cons: 1. Egress Ingress poor planning; exit right turn only 2. Parking stalls small- they took they minimum size they needed 3. A/C not working too good (dining room side) Second the pros: 1. Food quality is under control 2. Service good 3. Ordering system- upgraded 4. Seating system (restaurant side) QR code accepted Reason for my visit? Meeting my client and Waipio was the half way point for both of us. I had a straberry jello cream cheese dessert. When in doubt; head to the desserts. I would go back here only for convenience's sake!

Zippy is a must when visiting Oahu. Food is fresh and delicious. Always get the chicken and specialty plates. Oxtail is always good if you love soup. Service is fast and friendly staff. This location is Clean and spacious.

For Father's Day, both my brother and I are empty nesters, so he and his wife and I decided to go out for lunch instead of making a cook-out like we usually do on special days. Yes, Zippy's Waipio was NOT our first choice, as we were planning to go to a popular chain pancake house in Kunia... So off we went, reached there about 10:15am and gasped at the amount of people waiting outside for a table. We all said the heck with that, and went back to Waipahu to our back up, Zippy's Waipio. Told my brother to make a reservation on their website as we were driving back to Waipahu and he did have confirmations, but of course the wait time was stating 40-60 minutes... Well, we all knew it was a special day so we decided to be patient and wait. As my sister in law has a recent disability and requires the use of a walker, once we got our seating after just about 20 minutes (whew... thank goodness the wait times on the website were optimistic), the host walked us to the left upon the host desk and to the booth just past the small service area so that she could put her fold up walker out of anyone's way and she could seat comfortably right by that service area. Wow, this is just about 11 25 am and the crowd in the dining area was packed! The nanas who waitressed and the two male helpers were really busting their ass and inside of myself i was congratulating them for their hard work and still keeping a happy and smiling cheerful face! I ordered the large saimin and mini-plate of korean fried chicken, hoping that this combination will be enough to satisfy this big man (aka: blalah, haha) appetite. I asked for toss salad and brown rice to go with the Korean fried chicken plate. We waited and talked story... but funny as our waitress brought only my two dishes first. I felt bad to eat so I did not until they also received their dishes (a chili loco moco, a regular hamburger loco moco and a small bowl of saimin). Yes, their meals came about 12 minutes latER but i have to take into the consideration how busy it was... I could see through the pass way the kitchen help also busting their behinds as they cooked the meals for both the restaurant and take-out sides. You could see them wiping the sweat off their foreheads as it was hot (i know as I used to work in the restaurant industry decades ago). I also realized our smiling waitress made an error and gave me white rice which of course i did not eat, so she came back with a small plate of a scoop of brown rice and apologized to me for her error. Man, the large saimin had so much toppings and were generous with it! I hate the social media bashing by those vocal who say 'zippy's not the same like before', 'zippy's too expensive now and no put as much foods', etc, etc. I have to tell you, that large bowl of saimin - sorry the picture of my bowl has about just 2/3s of the soup as i have ALWAYS love their broth and IMHO, their saimin brother betters all places that i have tasted saimin here on Oahu.. again... my opinion... I had no complaints of the large bowl of saimin--- oh yeah, forgot to mention but don't they automatically supposed to give me a small bowl of Chinese mustard so i can mix it with the shoyu? It never came... hmmm, maybe it only comes if I ordered the Won Ton Soup??? As for the mini plate of Korean fried chicken - i was soo surprised as to how much was on the plate and I was telling myself??? That's a MINI???Oh, baby... the flavor of Zippy's Korean Fried chicken just slaps!!! sooo delicious!!! their toss salad with the ranch dressing was delicious and i did not feel guilty eating the brown rice....! We were full as we were not in any rush (but as to where i was seated, I could see clearly the led wait time board which showed that the wait times had increased to 50-75 minutes... For sure, we were glad we did not come later for lunch... Though there were the longER wait times and a few minor errors like giving me white rice instead of brown and the odd times their meals came out about 12 minutes later after mine had arrived...I still feel the rating should be a 5 instead of a 4 that I wanted to give...as I took into consideration that this was Father's Day and it was packed! Oh, btw i did see early on the menu that our bill will be charged an additional 2% for the kitchen help... which was fine as it was clearly stated and not hidden like in 'fine print'. Kudos to the wait and kitchen staff at Zippy's Waipio! Of course we would LOVE to come more often to the dining area for lunch or dinners!

.

The chicken katsu portioning for a regular plate is nuts. I appreciate the 2 katsu sauce packets, but that's more katsu sauce than chicken brah. I don't ever yelp but that's skimpy af.

Hungry spot... Shopping is definitely cardio as I came to Waipio to the Hawaii Okinawa Center Craft Fair and parked right beside across ZIPPY'S the open lot dedicated for the craft fair overflow parking and decided to walk over and shop and did so on the return and decided to stop and ZIPPY'S. Very nice location with signs very easy to read and loved that Napoleon's Bakery was open and operating so that I didn't need to wait in the takeout line to make my purchase though I did that anyways lol! Not feeling anything fried since I got some Andagi as well it was the Spaghetti plate with meat sauce. The service is very nice and yes they asked for my Zipster number which is very nice as I always forget to do so and waited for my order at tables which was nice and clean and a easy spot to rest and recover after a long day. The vibe here is nice and calm as I sat and looked over my purchases and enjoyed my dinner it's a place you don't feel rushed which is nice and as I unwind reorganize my day. Thank you!

Worked a long day and decided to get a burger and fries and a Mac salad for dinner. I online order so when I drive there it will be ready. I put it in at 7:47pm. I get there around 8:05 and no text that is ready. I sit in my car...at about 20 minutes I go inside and sit down and see my name still on the board that they are making it....50 minutes later, I get the text that it is ready. The fries are cold, the burger is cold, and the Mac salad is room temperature. All for 50 minutes of waiting and 16 dollars. For extra funzies I guess I had to get a spoon there cause I ended up eating my Mac salad with the lid. I'm going to start to go to the Pearl city one instead even though I live in Waipio.

Ask the Community - Zippy's Waipio

Is dine in open? Went last week Saturday employees said it was closed with no reason.?

don't have the definite answer, but very likely due to Omicron variant being so highly contagious, there would not be enough staffing to provide the for waiters/waitresses and clean up.

What does the color "dot" on the pie mean?

The colored dots help ensure optimal freshness of our pies for our customers.

We can deal with it being kinda in the ghetto of Waipahu but it was the very unhappy (clearly annoyed) counterperson who was taking our order - who SNAPPED AT MY MOM because she was confused with what comes with their plate lunch AND then the cook (assumedly - a different person than who took our order) annoyingly brought our items out to the table. She ordered the chop steak - I thought tasted ok, but it was seasoned heavier than my mom would like. Portion was right for the price. I got their signature Loco Moco burrito - SAD. It was $20, majority rice and mac salad, no meat. I needed a knife to cut the burrito in half, there was no counterperson or anyone available to ask for a knife, so I kind of looked around their register area and found a random one on the side, cut the burrito in half, DEFINITELY NOT how they showed it on TV, if the counterperson came back, I probably would have asked for them to swap it out. We were sitting for about 25 mins - nobody came back to the counter? If it wasn't for the counterpersons unfriendly attitude I was planning to buy their signature dessert to go, but I was turned off by the whole experience AND he didn't come back out anyways until literally I was throwing our containers away. He didn't greet us. Thank us. Ask how everything was. Or say anything when we were leaving. We saw the owners on TV and are happy and glad to support a local business BUT NOT when your employees are rude and unfriendly. $45 - 1 mini plate + 1 signature item and 2 cans of soda, I would SKIP this place

However, they told me they don't take reservations and to just walk in. Well, we got there and had to wait 58 minutes before we got seated. Pro tip: just have them put you down on the list. Don't listen about not taking reservations for large parties. I found out after that a group of 8 got reservations for 6:30 so I was quite unhappy about that. It didn't help that there was a table with 3 people who were there since 3pm (it was already 7:58 at this point) who were still occupying the tables and the staff couldn't make them leave. They eventually moved them to another smaller table, but they could have done that sooner, just saying. Not the restaurant's complete fault, people can be extremely inconsiderate but there maybe should be a system for dealing with these types of situations. All they had were empty bottles, they were not ordering anything. Anyway, we finally got seated, and as expected, the food didn't disappoint. We got the Tasty Chicken (always a must), boneless kalbi (super tender and flavorful), loco moco (one of the best on the island) and oxtail soup (theirs is pretty solid). We also got pumpkin crunch, strawberry crunch, and cream cheese brownie. Everything was amazing as usual and they all said it was the best food they had on-island during their trip. The food was worth the wait, but, that wait could've truly been avoided. It's not somewhere you take a first date unless you are bowling because it is super loud. It is located in an out of the way, not really scenic spot. Parking can be a bear. But it remains to be one of those tried and true "local" spots that never fail to please. *Rating is solely for the food and reliability of the excellent flavors and quality of the food

They have everything from bbq sticks, adobo, lechon, kilawan, lumpia and more. I got the bbq stick & chicken inasal plate. The bbq stick was packed with so much flavor! The chicken inasal was more on the huli huli side & was served with Filipino dipping sauce. They also offer free sabaw with your meal. Ordering was a little complicating, they have a menu outside with food and also more food inside. The bbq items were cooked by order and the inside food had more of the Filipino dishes like (adobo). But next to the cashier, you could also find other fried dishes as well. So a little complicated. You also have the option to sit outside under the tent or inside the restaurant with AC.
