    Jessica's Bento

Jessica's in Kapolei is a newly opened location that took over the old Mad Bene space. The restaurant has a really nice, spacious layout, and despite the size of the restaurant and how busy they were, the service was actually pretty efficient. There were only two people serving when we went, but they were moving! They did a great job keeping up with everything and making sure things were getting taken of. That being said, you could tell they were a little overwhelmed and in a rush at times. When we told our server that one of the drinks we ordered tasted funny, she was quick to offer to replace it, which I appreciated, but she didn't really offer an alternative. It took a second try before we were able to get something different. As for the food, it was okay. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out to me either. Maybe I'm a little biased since I grew up eating Filipino food, but for the price, I just don't think the food was worth it. I ordered Jessica's Bento, and unfortunately, it just didn't hit for me. Personally, I'd rather get a Zip Pac from Zippy's for less money. Would I come back? Yeah, I would. They have a pretty big breakfast menu, and I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying some of their breakfast options. I think there's potential here, especially since this is a new location, so I'd give them another shot!

Decided to try Jessica's for brunch around 11:30am and waited about 30 minutes for a party of 2. I'd recommend going earlier if you want to avoid a wait. The inside is spacious, but there are only around 10-12 tables, with most able to seat up to 4 people. Larger parties may have a harder time finding a table together. We tried the Jessica Moco and the Lechon Kawali with eggs and adobo fried rice. Both were delicious, and I'd definitely recommend them! The prices were a little higher than I expected for a brunch spot, but other than that, I really enjoyed the food and would come back if I'm ever in the area.

My French toast combo with one egg and two slice bacon. $21

Wife and I came for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Arrived around 8am. Perfect timing cuz it got packed and really busy by 8:30am. It's their soft-opening, so you can expect the typical glitches. This time is the service. While it's friendly and professional, it's painfully slow. Obviously they need several more workers. You can't have ppl waiting at the front door for more than a few minutes without being acknowledged. Their food was good, though they only give one egg with their French toast combo. In terms of ambiance, it's pretty bland... no real decor to speak of. Just plain white walls, nothing to indicate you're in a Filipino restaurant. But, again, it's soft opening so it will get better. We'll be back for lunch or dinner after they are done with soft opening.

We decided to give Jessica's a try after church and, unfortunately, I think that may have been our first mistake. Upon arrival, we were told that the kitchen was backed up. Totally understandable, especially since there were several larger parties already seated. We knew they were still in their soft-opening phase, so we were prepared to be patient and give them some grace. When our waitress came back to take our order, however, we were told we could only order from one side of the menu because the other side was for dinner service. That was a little confusing because there was nothing on the menu indicating specific service times or that certain items weren't available yet. My food came out within about 15-20 minutes, but more than 15 minutes later, my husband was still waiting for his meal. Sitting there gave us plenty of time to observe what was happening around the restaurant, and unfortunately the service seemed very disorganized. It didn't appear that servers had clearly designated sections. We watched different waitresses taking orders throughout the restaurant, and at one point even saw two different servers take orders from the same table at different times. Other customers also appeared to be waiting quite a while for food, service, or simply to cash out. The bussing system didn't seem very efficient either. There appeared to be only one busser handling some very large tables, carrying dishes away on a tray and making multiple trips back and forth. With the volume and size of some of these parties, a bussing cart or another system for clearing tables would probably make things much more efficient. The restaurant layout is also a little awkward, with round tables connected to rectangular tables to accommodate larger parties, which seems to add to the confusion when determining who is responsible for which tables. I really wanted to like this place because I'm all for supporting local businesses, and I understand that a soft opening is exactly when a restaurant is supposed to work through its growing pains. But there are definitely some operational issues that need to be worked out. Staff need clearer sections and responsibilities, and the overall flow of service needs improvement. Unfortunately, the prices are also on the higher side while the portions are relatively small, so the experience didn't feel like a good value. After more waiting, Someone finally went to check on my husband's order, but by that point, we were fed up and needed to get going. We asked our server for our checks and to-go containers so we could pack up my meal and leave. By the end of the experience, I honestly felt like I was sitting in an episode of Restaurant: Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine, watching all of the operational issues unfold in real time. There seemed to be a serious lack of organization and efficiency throughout the restaurant, and unfortunately, it really took away from what should have been an enjoyable Sunday meal after church. Maybe they'll find their rhythm with time, but based on this visit, I'd personally skip it for now.

Jessicas Kapolei First time impression, last time visit for the wife & I. Started from the walk in, guy host at door told us to sit anywhere, then we walked to the left side of the tables, then he said those are for bigger parties, like huh? Don't say sit anywhere. We sat in area that we didn't know had a-lot of flies gathering. Ordered the $45 Prime Rib and starters. The starters came last. Prime rib came first. The rushing lady waitress didn't even ask how we wanted it cooked. The prime rib was dry & tough like it came from the freezer and rushed cooked my wife & I stopped eating it and just ate the toss salad. Almost half of it was inedible the fats was hard rubber band meat. Our main waitress didn't even ask or come by until she said ready for the check? Then other waitresses just sped by and said good?? We couldn't even get a word in. Started shaking ours heads. Starter was a lil better than the main dish. I know they just opened but there's many things that need addressing. Maybe ordering loco moco with gravy can hide the dryness but not the rubber band meat. Don't think we will be back it was the first time my wife gave a low tip!!

We were hungry for a late breakfast and decided to try this hidden gem after hearing good things. We went on a Sunday, and there was a ton of parking upstairs of Westridge Shopping Center where Jessica's is located. Many of the choices on the menu were very tempting, but we really came by with the hope of sampling their Prime Rib Loco Moco, which we'd heard about from friends. We ordered that to share, and each had the sweet bread French toast. The Prime Rib Loco Moco was awesome. The meat was perfectly cooked, and the gravy had just the right flavor to put everything together with the egg and fried rice. The French toast was the perfect sweet compliment to the savory loco moco dish. Service was fantastic, we were constantly attended to and everyone was very friendly. We really enjoyed our meal and will be coming back soon!

The food potions are HUGE! So, I see why the prices are the way they are. You definitely need to go there with patience in mind cause the service was a little on the slow side. They could really use hiring more servers, especially on the weekends. The place was decorated super cute tho. We got to sit near the tvs on the huge comfy bench like tables. We definitely want to go and try dinner.

    Bangus

Had such a great experience here! We ordered the bangus, surf and turf, lechon kawali, and pasta, and everything was delicious! The portions were really generous and definitely a lot of food, especially for sharing. Everything was flavorful and satisfying, and we loved being able to try a little bit of everything. The lechon kawali was crispy and savory, the bangus was delicious, and both the surf and turf and pasta were really good. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for good food, generous portions, and a meal that's worth sharing. Would definitely come back!

Amazing spot hidden in the upper level of a plaza, Jessica's was insanely good. We got the big local breakfast with fried rice, a nice "sampler" of stuff that's very filling. Bacon was okay; spam was great, Portuguese sausage was great. We also got the Jessica's Moco, the gravy on it was fire. Great portions overall and would definitely come back! Servers were all very nice to us as well. I suggest taking the streets up to the second floor in the back so you don't have to park in front and take the stairs!

Our first time here and we came for lunch! When we first walked in, we noticed how hottt it was inside. Not sure if their a/c was not working... But we almost walked out. :( Hopefully they can fix that. Thankfully there was an open booth for my family of 4. They sat us and we were able to get water quickly. We looked at the menu and noticed that all of their entrees were mostly $25+. A little on the pricier side if you are looking to spend. But, the portions are pretty big. So you would be able to share a plate depending on how hungry you are. Overall, we would come back on a Special occasion. Their chicken was amazing and the rest of our food that we order was pretty good as well. Their service was top notch and their servers were really attentive. We hope to be back soon!

Cute place in a kinda divvy strip mall. Inside the place is amazing. Very clean & ono food. We shared the lumpia & bento plate. Delish. Jessica welcomed & waited on us. With hubby helping out. Would eat here again if we were in the area.

The whole family went on a Saturday night. Waited about five minutes to be seated. Surprisingly, most of the items on the menu were OUT! So we decided to come back another day. The following Monday, we did. It was quite a wait. Food was delicious. Service needs improvement.

Keep in mind that if you are mixing plates that they do not mix more than one chicken dish together, for example you cant get a chicken parmesan with a chicken piccada, even so it was a good combo. The red sauce was not too sweet with the right amount of seasonings, the chicken was cooked great, not too dry and not to thin, with a nice amount of melted mozzarella cheese right over it. The lasagna was typical meat lasagna, not the greatest but makes you feel like you mama cooked it for you which I also appreciate. All orders come with garlic bread, as is should, and it's the perfect compliment to your meal. The staff was friendly and helpful and the service itself was pretty quick, so if you're even in the Waipahu area and are craving some cheap Italian food give em a try.

(they do have tvs all over the bar so you should be able to watch in most seats. It is fairly cold in here, like I was kind of freezing and had to grab a jacket from the car. Our server was super friendly and we got our orders in: We ordered: * Brick Oven "Super" Pizza: 7/10. We ordered this without black olives because I do not like black olives. This was okay. There were many toppings but since there were so many, there were much less of each topping (which meant that you'd really only get a tiny sprinkle of like beef for example). I felt like the pizza was just mediocre. The crust was unique, a twisted shape but it just made the crust more dense and not as enjoyable to eat for me as I liked a fluffier doughy crust. I also felt that there weren't enough cheese for the amount of toppings on this pizza. * Pepperoni, Sausage, and Jalapenos Pizza: 7.2/10. My friend ordered this so I didn't really eat as much of it. It was ok, same complaints regarding the crust. I think due to it having less toppings the cheese ratio was much better this time around. * Buffalo (Hot) Wings: 9/10, my friend said the main star of the show would be the wings and he was not lying! These wings were large and meaty compared to the tiny wings you'd often get at bars and most establishments. They were fried to perfection and tossed in the chosen sauce. The buffalo was perfect and I enjoyed it with ranch. * Lemon Pepper: 8.2/10, same positives, I just don't care for the lemon pepper flavor. * Garlic Parm: 9.2/10: same positives, I love the garlicky flavor of this wing along with the cheesiness from the parm. * Chicken Alfredo Pasta: 4/10. We do NOT recommend this. The chicken quality was terrible, it was like stringy. We think it is the premade chicken meant to be shredded for pizzas recooked into the pasta. The alfredo sauce was also not very good, just tasted poorly made and overly peppered. Honestly I would totally come back for the wings and only the wings. Recommend this spot to grab some wings and watch a game with some friends!
