We have always loved coming here. Over the last year, the quality of the food has really gone downhill. Today may be the last time we dine here. We ordered take out today. My husband got the chicken salad croissant and I got the hot spinach and artichoke dip. Unfortunately, I could not eat the dip. It tasted like a bad lemon. No tomatoes. It was a bit curdled. It smelled so bad. My husband's chicken salad croissant was ok, but not the normal of what is usually made there in the past. The last few times it started to slip as well but we didn't mind. Really shocked at how the service was disingenuous peppered with thinly veiled hostility and deception from the get go. Check your bill closely. There are undisclosed upcharges littered throughout the bill. While not a big deal, it came across as deceptive and marginally unethical. The defensiveness of the waiter when asked about said upcharges resulted in a confrontation which lead to a $5 tip on a $70 bill, when I had initially planned a 20% tip. Why tip rudeness and reward offensive behavior? Why tip well when there are undisclosed upcharges? Note that I snapped a picture of my receipt in case the waitstaff decides to change the numbers since my gut is telling me this is not the most transparent of business establishments. You may want to do the same should you need to contest the bill with your credit card bill after you leave. That being said, from the outset, the attitude and interaction with the waitstaff was marginally obnoxious complete with fairly abrupt behavior. It was quite unpleasant. Perhaps racism came into play; I do not know. However, we are not going back. Plenty of other establishments to frequent who provide competent respectful service without undisclosed upcharges and hostile waitstaff. read more

I have been to Zinc cafe many times and the food has been very good. The atmosphere of the restaurant is rocking tables, unconformable chairs, and no music. A person who go there for the food, even though some dishes are pricey. A friend and I went there this week. As we were leaving our waiter asked if we wanted the change from the bill. I said no and was confused because we just told him at the table there was no change. Next he proceeded to say, very loudly and angerly, that it wasn't even a 15% tip!!! Everyone in the restaurant turned to see what was going on. We left to avoid further incident. We re-calculated and discovered we gave him a 19% tip. Unfortunately, we made a mistake and meant to leave 20%. The rudeness of the waiter was uncalled for and has resulted in at least one less loyal customer with me. Hopefully no one else will be treated this way. A little kindness goes a long way. read more

I really was hoping for something much better after seeing all the great reviews and pics. First, the place can use a refresh. The lighting is very dim and looked run down. I could have gotten past this had our food wowed us. I ordered what was on the menu as stuffed French toast with raspberry cream cheese. What I was served was dry French toast with drizzled cream cheese and a few raspberries on top. The bacon was was not crisp and on the fatty side. My husbands waffle was nothing special. Stopped by for lunch on a cold fall afternoon. I was disappointed that the did not have the French onion soup which I felt could have been shared when the specials were given to remove it as an option. The burger was good but nothing special. The blacken chicken salad however was great. It was light with a good combination of fresh ingredients I would go back for the salad alone. The service was fantastic at the Zinc Cafe from the minute we were seated. I ordered the blackened salmon w/ mushroom risotto and vegetables. It was well cooked & seasoned. My husband ordered a burger medium well, but had to return it because it was well done. It was taken care of immediately and he had the perfect burger in no time. I had the blackened salmon with mushroom risotto. Salmon was well seasoned and cooked properly. The promise of risotto was the reason I went with the salmon. It was not risotto. Risotto is creamy and this was just simply a rice mushroom medley at best. Either rename it or just take it away. The julienned veggies tried to step in and save the day. Well done. If I could give this place no stars I would. Young kid took my order for pickup and thought nothing of it. When I got home I found out my food was wrong (which is not a big deal, things happen). Seniors Beware! My parents and their 8 friends went to Zinc Cafe on 10/18/2025 at 5:00 PM. My mother asked for bread with her meal. When the bill came, there was a $4.00 charge for 3 small pieces of bread. When my mother inquired about the charge, the customer focused owner, Robin Sammons, replied with absolute disrespect for the senior citizen group and said, "We charge for bread because we have to put up with people like you! You bring your wine, and we have to give you ice and wine glasses. We don't serve bread or crackers. If you ask for them, we charge!" Thank you Robin for being completely disrespectful to repeated customers who have frequented your establishment for years and will no longer do so. Why do you feel it is necessary to discriminate against customers who are of the senior age group. If you explained the restaurant policy in a kind manner with respect, there would not have been an issue. Choose Kindness and act like an adult! read more

I've lived in Medford for 30+ years and I've tried everything here. I believe that Zinc is the absolute best restaurant in Medford! Such a hit or miss place. The first time I went here I had the baked brie and a sandwich and I loved it! The 2nd time it was not good, cold food and bad service. Waited a while then gave it another chance. The baked brie wasn't as big or as good, service was bad but other food was good. Overall probably won't be back. read more

I have driven by this establishment at least 1000 times and never stopped by. Today my girlfriend and I decided to go. We sat outside to the right of the entrance. It was nice but you will hear the cars on Stokes Road. It wasn't an issue since it always feels like I'm on vacation in this town. We started with the black bean soup and a jalapeño ranch salad. Both were absolutely delicious. I wish the jalapeño ranch dressing was a little more on the spicy side but the freshness of the salad made up for it. Main course was the grilled cheese with avocado,applewood smoked bacon,Dijon mustard,cheese on top of cheese and the crunchy buttery goodness of the bread was incredible. Don't pass this one up like I have for so long. The staff was super nice and checked on us often. If you order seltzer it's Pellegrino in a bottle. No big deal. I don't even know where to begin... When you walk in it's clear that this place is not big enough for the amount of tables they have crammed inside and it was completely packed. Luckily, I made a reservation online so we only waited a few minutes. They have a wide variety of options on the menu which I thought was great. It became clear that they don't have enough employees to keep up with the rush they have for brunch on a Sunday. It took forever to order and once we got our food from a different person, it was impossible to get our waitress's attention. She even made jokes about not seeing her again... which really wasn't funny. Now, the food... the eggs were eggs, but the potatoes were awful. Zero flavor. The pancakes... they were just bisquick pancakes which I happen to absolutely hate. Less than mediocre food with just as awful service. read more
