It's not often we are on this side of town, but if you are in the neighborhood I highly recommend checking this place out. This is a family run business that sells some delicious Polish food. I honestly haven't had much exposure to this cuisine but everything we tried tasted good. For first timers like myself it was so fun to try the different varieties of house made meats and liked how this was encouraged. I also thoroughly enjoyed roaming around the store while waiting for our pierogis and Squealer to be prepared. It was so cool to see all the different foods, spices, candy/snacks, and sauces they had, but especially the amount of variety stocked in their freezers full of pierogis and potato pancakes and condiments. In terms of food, everything we had was yummy. The pierogis were well fried, well seasoned and even the little was a fan! I also really enjoyed the Squealer, the apple wood smoked kielbasa had a nice casing and flavor profile, and I just loved the overall combination in terms of texture combined with the crisp potato pancake and the punch of flavor especially the white BBQ sauce which made for a bit of a mess but nothing a ton of napkins can't solve. Oh if you plan to let things sit for a bit be warned that things might leak and get on other things so best to put in a plastic bag to avoid having your stuff end up with grease stains like mine. read more

Ziggy's Simply the best! I was in Leander for some events and had Ziggy's marked as there are not many Polish places in Austin. I was so so so happy to stop in here and be treated with such caring service. As the workers say "everything here is very good" and they are not wrong. I got a Squealer Kielbasa , Saurkraut & mushroom pierogi & strawberry pierogi. The squealer was absolutely incredible. Not greasy, so much flavor and unique as well. This was just fantastic and not gonna lie - flooring for how good it was. Highest quality ingredients and made so perfectly. I am so so happy I had this. The pierogi were also amazing. The mushroom sauerkraut was just like home - packed and the dough was amazing being fried. The strawberry was a gift from the owner. I never had a fruit pierogi before and was so so happy to try this. Was a fantastic treat to end the meal - like an OG toaster strudel to put it simply. First timer turned regular! My partner insisted on dropping by Ziggy's to explore a new local spot. We were hesitant as we'd never had "Polish" food. When we entered we were immediately greeted by everyone behind the counter. As it was my first time, (and as I always ask) I asked for any recommendations. I was immediately told that no one gives recommendations for the main reason that many times most people don't typically like some/many of the ingredients- which I can understand! I took one look at the menu and thought to myself... what do I order? I don't like this, that or the other. I went with the "Pigtail" order and snagged a bite of my partners "Classic" order. I fully regret going with such a basic plate. The classic was full of flavor and onions (which I love and my partner typically dislikes). To my surprise, my partner ate 99% of the onions and truly enjoyed his meal. I look forward to coming back, ordering a fresh meal and grabbing something from the frozen section to take home and prepare later. Service here was wonderful. I'd truly love for Ziggy's to have a whole restaurant one day where one can sit comfortably (not in the heat since it's summer). Highly recommend and will most definitely be back. read more

Small store you might pass by, but this place is a hidden gem! Everything made in house from kielbasa to bratwurst to chicken schnitzels! We tried the sampler and it came with kielbasa, beets, sour cream and 3 perogies of choice. The beets are to DIE for. No idea what's in them to be so tasty! These did not taste like regular beets. The sour cream again, the best I ever had! Not sure what they are doing differently but it's SO thick and rich! Perogies tried: potato and jalapeño cheese, it had a nice kick to it but wasn't spicy. Smooth texture would recommend. Potato and onion, this one was more simple and less flavorful. It was alright but rather select another option next time. Potato, bacon and cheese: definitely can taste and see the bacon bits in there! The real star of the show was the kielbasa! Tasted so good and had caramelized onions and whole lot of sauerkraut too. From the kielbasa sausages to the schnitzel sandwich and their pickled beets. Not only do they offer hot food, their grocery store is not one to skip. I saw sweet treats that took me back to my time in Slovakia. Ziggy's has ruined me for other kielbasas. Forget packaged, commercial Polish sausages--these ones made on-site have the perfect balance of garlic and spices, with good quality meats as the base. Both the original and spicy are fantastic. The owner offered me some samples out of the deli case, and there wasn't a single misstep in anything I tried. Leander is a bit of a hike from where I live, so I usually buy several sausages and stick a few in the freezer to add to dishes as needed later on. They've cut back their offerings of freshly prepared meals on-site to the weekends, but you can still get their deli and frozen food, as well as their wide variety of shelf-stable pantry items during the week, and there's a lot to choose from. Austin doesn't have much to offer in the way of Polish, German, or Eastern European food, so when cravings hit, Ziggy's is well worth the drive. read more

I was curious about the Kielbasa, so the Lady behind the Counter cut Two pieces out of an already cooked Kielbasa (she told us, 'Kielbasa' means 'sausage' in Polish, so saying, 'Can I order a Kielbasa Sausage' is like saying, 'Can I order a Sausage Sausage?' Never venture up north but while waiting for hours to get car serviced at Toyota- I was yelping on nearby places to eat. I came across Ziggy's Kielbasa house- 200+ reviews and 5 stars! Ok, so I took the bait. Drove about 2 miles into an unsuspecting retail shop and not many cars.. wonder if I went to right place and served food- if not, I was going to Pollo Rico nearby as back up. I walked in.... And I think I stepped into another country! (I love visited grocery stores in foreign countries- bc it's so different than what we have here). Reminds me of the Japanese grocery store in Austin- Asahi Imports. There was a freezer/ fridge full of assorted pre made perogis (which are basically like dumplings I'm used to from Asia but Polish!), pickled veggies, cabbage rolls, oh my! There is a whole rack to satisfy my sweet tooth that would make my dentist cringe! I love chocolate and you simply can't get these in normal US stores! There is another rack of staples of various Eastern European countries - thank goodness they put stickers in English so I can understand but there is always google translate! The back is the hidden gem! That's where owners Andy and his wife Susie are! There is a case of various kielbasa that is fully cooked and some cheeses. Andy is super knowledgeable about his food and all is made in house! Ordered a sampler plate with 3 different perogis, original kielbasa (and I love his homemade pickles, sauerkraut and mustard!!!), potato pancakessssssss and his signature pork snitzchel (spelling?) sandwich! Everything was delicious! It was a fun and amazing experience and the cherry on top is the 'Mystery Bag' for $6. It's last month's 'expired' labeled food and you get about $30 worth for $6. Ziggy's is a cute little European market and deli in Leander. I tried the potato pierogi and the classic hot dog, and also got a jalapeno sausage to go. Pierogi was great, crispy and filled well. The jalapeno sausage tasted great both fried and as-is at home. I wasn't a big fan of the hot dog. The bread felt dry and the overall taste profile a bit boring, basically a mediocre hot dog for $11+. I'll definitely be back here to pick up sausages or pierogis! read more

We went here for the first time on Saturday and It was AMAZING!!! We shared several items for lunch so we could taste more. We had Pierogi - one each of blueberry, strawberry, and sweet cheese. Whole blueberries which were delicious inside the perfectly cooked pierogi noodle! I loved the strawberry too! My boyfriend loved all 3 kinds! We bought some frozen bags to take home because they were so wonderful! This is the only place in Austin where I've seen fruit pierogi which are my favorite. I also asked about plum pierogi since that's what my grandma used to make and Andy said they may make that soon since others have asked too, but plums aren't in season right now & he makes them with fresh fruit. I'll be excited to try those when he makes them! The Potato pancakes were there first ones I've ever had that were cooked perfectly and so good! I can't wait to have these again soon! I make my Cucumber salad with Mayo and dill, but these are made with sour cream, dill, lemon juice - it tasted lighter than mine and I loved it - so great! We also had Smoked kielbasa sandwiches, one was "The Classic," with coarse mustard and caramelized onions. The other was "Mr. Jones," with house made kraut, Swiss cheese, and house made Russian dressing. Both were delicious! The smoked kielbasa was to die for!!! These toppings on the sandwiches took it to the next level! Andy was very kind & helpful with all of our questions. He was patient and shared stories of what his grandma used to cook. He uses all of her recipes and I love everything I tasted. He's excited to share his love of Polish food with others which is delightful! The store has lots of Polish & European food so we shopped and got several things for home. Such a wonderful selection too. Several frozen homemade options in the freezer case. Me neither until we needed some Polish gifts for the pastor of our church specifically potato pierogis and I was lucky enough to come across Ziggy's on Yelp ! A diamond in the ruff hidden gem or however you want to put it this is simply a very special place . It's small but wow the selections are endless and all the food is made from scratch such as in-house made sausages , pierogis , soups and everything in between. I was also told the dough for the pierogis is vegan friendly and there are tons of soup options vegan friendly and non vegan as well . Towards the side of the store there are to go pouches of delicious soups and foods in the refrigerator to take home along with fresh pierogis they freeze immediately after making with different ingredients and in various quantities in the adjoining freezer . Fresh sauerkraut ,polish candies and tons of sweets line the isles in the tiny store , the selections are endless but I'm sure you'll find something you'll like . You could do like I did and get some sausages, sweets fresh sauerkraut and pierogis to create your own gift basket or for your own indulgence either way you'll have something unique . I did forget to mention they have a full menu of amazing food like Polish dogs or an order of pierogis filled with different ingredients you can order to eat immediately if your hungry and cannot wait to get home . Sadly there is no indoor seating, but the food is good enough that you should definitely stop by and grab something to go. You can order online or over the phone. I was going for the pierogis but fell in love with the Kielbasa. It is hard to find. Located in Leander on the Southbound side of 183. It is in the strip mall with the Escape room. I had to U-Turn on 183 to come back and turn right into the parking lot. Growing up Polish, I loved pierogis and hate kielbasa. Here I was ordering a Mr. Jones brat sandwich and a mix of three pierogis. Since they cook it to order, I sat and waited about 15 minutes. They have a sweet small eating area with tables. On a side wall is a shelving unit where they display pickles, jams and other homemade products. The opposite wall has a refrigerator with drinks. Front and center next to the counter is the meat display case. I was fortunate the owner was waiting on me so he handed me samples to try. Can't believe my favorite was the serrano kielbasa. I get my sandwich and side then headed home. Yes, it was torture smelling the sandwich the whole way home. Once home, the sandwich is plated and cut in half. It was a decent size that I wasn't sure if I could finish it. Mr. Jones has Russian dressing, swiss cheese, and crunchy kraut on it. First bite and Oh yeah. It was so amazing. Slight spice, snap of the casing, sweetness from the dressing, crunch from the kraut. The pierogis come with either a side of apple sauce or sour cream. I picked the potatoes bacon cheese one first and the other one was potato onion. The fillings were full of flavor and very tasty. For me the dough was too chewy, I prefer the pasta type dough. They were good but liked the kielbasa better. Definitely going back to pick up some links for dinner. read more

A little far north of your usual so I would recommend ordering a lot for delivery or pickup. The location has a very small dinning area but you can see from the front how clean and big the kitchen is. Understanding that its fresh and all but I think its a little pricey for what you are ordering. We asked what they would recommend and decided on a very simple burger the minimus burger, their popular squealer brat and two different type of pierogi. The food was good and clean but it was alright, it can use a little bit more flavor. The skin on the pierogi can be better and their special, potato and sausage, was a little dense and bland probably because of the potato to sausage ratio. The mushroom sauerkraut pierogi was much better on taste and a winner. Overall, I think the experience was OK. read more
