Vida Verde Kitchen

Vida Verde Kitchen

Vida Verde Kitchen -- A Hidden Gem That's Worth Finding…read more Austin is overflowing with trendy restaurants where the food is decent, the lighting is aggressive, and the wait time requires a light snack and a personality shift. I tend to avoid those places. Vida Verde Kitchen, thankfully, is not that. Tucked into a great area but slightly hidden (the kind of spot you feel proud to "discover"), Vida Verde feels like a restaurant that exists for people who actually want to eat, not just post. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of Tex-Mex, fresh flavors, and Americana--familiar enough to be comforting, but creative enough to keep things interesting. Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but the food earns its confidence. The guacamole is an absolute must, and anything leaning Tex-Mex is consistently solid. I can vouch. The wait staff deserves real credit here--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in the food and experience, which goes a long way these days. The atmosphere hits that Austin sweet spot: industrial touches softened by lush green foliage. It's stylish without trying too hard, which is rare and appreciated. If I had one note? This place needs a happy hour and a few more solid specials. Do that, and Vida Verde becomes dangerous--in the best way. Overall: a unique, thoughtful restaurant that avoids the hype trap and delivers where it matters. Definitely worth your time (and thankfully, not hours of it).

I lowkey miss Delucca, but this is a good replacement…read more The menu is pretty extensive with it ranging from TexMex to unique flavors. I got the Piggyback Shrimp Tacos with a side of seasonal vegetables (which was grilled zucchini), and I liked the pairing of the shrimp with chorizo as it made the tacos more filling, which is not done often with shrimp tacos. The tacos also came with a very spicy salsa that I just had to take to go because it was soo good. If you want your money's worth, my sister recommended the shrimp fajitas as it comes with the most food and the shrimp was actually good. The service was fast and the waitress was very nice. It retained a lot of the old decor from Delucca which made it feel familiar, and it was nice and quiet.

Max's is a really low-key, nice spot for a good snack at a great price. It's one of the only spots…read moreI've seen that does a tofu katsu which I really appreciate as I'm vegetarian! The staff are really friendly and the service was quick. The baos are soft and fluffy and really hit the spot. The bento box plates are plentiful - and honestly were a full meal for my husband who eats a LOT. The tofu katsu is crispy and flavorful and delicious. My only only complaint is that there is too much plastic. From plastic water bottles to plastic sauce containers, there's definitely room for improvement here to be more environmentally friendly. A water machine and sauce squeeze bottles for dine in customers is reasonable, I think.

They are in a "soft opening" phase currently, and we got to meet the owner who was very enthusiastic about his business, the community, and garnering any feedback we had. The food is - in one word, impeccable. We went in for a snack and ended up ordered 4x as much as we meant to because everything was so darn delicious. The menu consists of baos, sushi, hand rolls, adorable pearl shaped nigiri, bento, and more - they are all customizable with yummy sauces (miso butter - mmm!), and many types of protein (seriously like all the protein options you can find at a premium sushi bar). Everything is served with house made sauces so if you are a condiment gal/guy like me this is your place! Food - I had the escolar, unagi, and scallop hand rolls (all under $5 each) and was so surprised by the quality / freshness of the protein and the portions given. The escolar was so soft and buttery. I then ordered the shrimp fresh roll (also under $5, it was HUGE) and the chicken katsu baos (around $6-7) - they were amazing. The chicken tenders are panko crusted and fried crispy. BF tried the steak baos and LOVED them too. Okay also did I mention the PRICES?! You can't get quality food like that for a greater deal. Drinks are all $8 and hit the spot :) The interior is not completely redone / set up yet but I can't to come back when it is! The phone / QR code system makes it so easy to order. JUST GO! and Support this incredible addition to the neighborhood.
