I love the Loro in DFW, but the original location in Austin is where it all began. This is a must visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The cuisine is creative and elegant, but Loro's genius is its ultra casual setting. Instead of white tablecloth and fancy silverware, there are wooden picnic tables that maximize seating while mimicking the comforts of your backyard. "Grab a beer from the cooler and sit at a picnic table" vibe. 1 Star. Service - There's no beer cooler, but there is an awesome staff that begins with taking your order at the bar. They'll give you a buzzer, and when your food is ready the Loro team will bring the dishes straight to your table. The service is so great and efficient and it's like "fine dining" fast casual. 1 Star. Food - The menu is very unique, mixing Texas smokehouse techniques with Asian underpinnings. The Pork Belly Char Siu is a must order. We ordered this (non-bowl version) because we wanted to focus on the hoisin sauce, super tender "melt in your mouth" pork belly with pickled cucumbers to help cut the richness. We also ordered their Texas Two Step lunch of a juicy onion burger and potatoes that reminded us that Loro can do fancy and comfort at the same time. Both dishes were satisfying and delicious. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I live in Dallas and Loro has opened in North Texas, but the original location in Austin is a great rzeminder of how great restaurants are meant to be shared with others. 1 Star.

This time, I barely managed to squeeze one into my trip, and it was kind of a last minute stop from a food truck that wasn't even on Yelp. It was fine, but I was left yearning for more after barely getting a taste of it. Enter: my trip to Austin. Upon doing my food research, I was struck by Halal Time's great rating and couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit. I was staying in a hotel less than a mile away, which made it even easier to stop by. The result? I wouldn't say it fully hit the spot on what I'd remembered from old NYC trips, but I did enjoy it. I went with the Beef Shawarma Over Rice plate and it was a perfectly "good, not great" dinner.

It was the perfect amount. the chicken meal and baklava dessert was $17 which I felt was good price. My complaint. I preordered on door dash and picked up my order and 3 of my coworkers orders. I get a 30 min lunch and it takes me 8 min to get there and another 8 min to get so I should have had plenty of time. I go up to the window, tell him I'm here to pick up the order and he says door dash has not given him orders for 3 days. So my orders were not made. I had to call everyone to find out what they order and as I'm calling out the orders he's like oh yes I see them. Very confused as to how he has no orders but also has orders? There was construction and graduations going on that day so my commute was a little longer but he not having the orders ready also made me late.
