Wow... this might be the best shawarma I've had in Austin. I ordered online as soon as they opened at 3pm. Was quoted a 45 minute wait for my order which I didn't love, but it was ready by 3:26. From the first bite I was astounded. Absolutely delicious. Perfectly spiced, crispy, just phenomenal. The pickled veggies on the side were AMAZING. Hummus was AMAZING. Fries were great. I got the chicken tikka and mixed meat kebab plates. The portions are huge. I saved the leftover for another meal. It came with some grilled vegetables like tomatoes and onion. I ordered the $99 family tray did not have half of what you see on the picture they post. No kibe, instead they put oily falafel, only few pieces of chicken kebab, one meat skewer, two pieces of lamb kebab, and two big pieces of rotisserie chicken. Food quality is average. As a New Yorker in Texas that very much misses halal food, I had really high hopes for this place. After reading the great reviews, I drove 40 mins to try the gyro. The truck owner was unfriendly, rude, and acted as though I was bothering him when I inquired about the menu (this was my first time at his establishment). I found it strange but ignored it and hoped the food would make up for the poor service. When my food was ready, I had to go knock on the window of the truck because the owner in no way indicated to me that my food was ready. When I received the food, it was cold. I found the gyro to be inauthentic - the "lamb" looked like shredded beef and lacked flavor. I asked for hot sauce and he handed me 2 packets of cholula sauce (since when does cholula go on halal food?). Disappointing experience, the reviews are overrated. read more

Wow. We stumbled upon this humble food trailer making our way back to Round Rock. The Yelp reviews were good and I felt like some grilled meat. Here's what you should know: - you can't order on the phone. You either have to walk up to the window or order online. - they have a picture menu which is helpful. What we got is what I will get every time. It was (2x) a delicious ground (lamb and beef?) kabob, some chicken breast kabob that were very flavorful, and some pieces of grilled lamb. It can only describe them as the lamb version of pork belly. So unctuous and fatty. I couldn't have eaten more than 2 pieces of those but they were delicious. The kabob and the chicken were as well. Strangely the rice was also exceptional. It wasn't the typical tasty basmati rice that goes under various kabobs. It had its own delicious flavor and didn't need the meat to accompany it. Each serving was as generous and came with a small serving of hummus (excellent) and a big piece of Arabic bread and salad and veggies. I want to eat this all over again today. We got 2 of these and it was enough for 3 adults and 2 kid on its own as a full meal. We also got the Arabi Sandwich. It was grilled bread with what tasted like a cross between shwarma and cheesesteak meat inside. It was filled to the brim and came with an insanely garlicky sauce on the side. I wish I had more of that sauce. It was so good. Go try this place and support local. It's delicious but also healthy! Keep in mind there may be a wait. From ordering at the window to pickup was about 35 mins. Perhaps order online first. We were hungry, so I forgot to take pictures. I'm sorry! I will next time because there will be a next time soon! This is a food truck, which I don't think we picked up on this. We arrived, the gentleman was VERY helpful and very friendly. He steered us to several items. Overall, the experience was lovely, but the food was lacking. We ordered Hummus and I asked for tabouleh and he said, oh...there's salad already. So, we didn't order it separately. We received the hummus - it was heavy on the tahini, which for me, tastes more bitter. There was no salad and only ONE pita. The meals we ordered were good - wraps - but the french fries (all three orders) were soggy. No crisp to them at all. There was a white dipping sauce for the wraps, but it was unseasoned - almost like plain yogurt. Overall, disappointing. I wanted to rate it better as the individual running the place (only him - it took 30 minutes for our order) but we won't return. read more

I am writing another review for Al Demashqi Food Truck at Pflugerville location, I need more stars for the review. This guy actually knows how to cook good food, its not bland, it has excellent openfire grill flavor, right spice, marinate level and none of the grilled items were dry, I highly recommend Demashqi special food tray, its little over $100 and you wont believe the variety and quantity of food he gives for that price, he only needs 45 minutes to prep it, I highly recommend you order that today, you wont regret it :) Owner is hard working (lawful) immigrant, and I have seen days when his truck didnt have any air conditioning and he would be prepping food in 110+ heat, never cutting corners on quality of food, I wish him nothing but the best read more

What happened to this place? It's very mediocre now. The lamb/beef plate was just lamb shoulder in a very simple presentation, and the sauces were basically just mayo and siracha. Honestly, there's many better places in Austin. read more

The food was outstanding. Truly some of the best shwarma I've had in years. I got the beef shwarma plate and every bite from the pickles to the rice to the most succulent flavor beef was amazing. The plate was $19 which isn't cheap but considering how delicious it was and a very big portion, no question worth it. Highly highly recommend. read more

Ok so, I'm not the biggest fan of Middle Eastern food, even tho my husband craves it at least once a week. But even I like Al Demashqi! Unlike most Middle Eastern I've tried (which I usually find overly cooked/dry and the sauces too sour for my taste), Al Demashqi's meat is savory, juicy and well seasoned, not relying on excess sauce to create flavor and moisture. Food is savory and finely crafted. It's a one-man operation and it's amazing how he accomplishes the work. Portions are large enough to split, although the food is so good it's not hard to imagine eating the whole thing. The location reminds me of a Mad Max encampment.
