I was walking through downtown Paso one weekend day in search of brunch, when I walked right in front of Ziggy's and the answer became immediately clear. I had been to their SLO location once before, and was so excited that they've opened in Paso. I had the breakfast burrito that morning, which has Beyond spicy sausage, JUST egg, hashbrowns, and vegan cheese. It was super yummy (especially the hashbrowns!), and I was contemplating how I could make it at home next. I've also had the Phoenix burger, which is great and on a really nice soft bun with lots of flavor. All of their burgers give you the option of choosing between the house-made Ziggy's patty or an Impossible patty, and I've chosen the house-made one every time. You can get an Impossible patty anywhere now and it's not worth the extra $3 (and their patty is really good!). I want to try more of the sides, but I keep getting the KCBs because they are sooooo good. KCB = Korean cauliflower bites. They're lightly battered and fried, and covered with this delicious gochujang sauce that is the right balance between sweet and savory. I actually live in the Bay Area, but was last here a few weeks ago when I stopped in Paso on a drive from SoCal in the afternoon literally just for Ziggy's and an order of KCBs. Yay, we're so glad that these folks have joined the North County food scene. My husband and I stopped by on a Saturday. The staff was helpful, and they have cute merchandise for sale. Not much of a line on this visit, but it was kind of early. We shared the Korean fried cauliflower and each tried the vegan breakfast burrito. My photos don't do the burrito justice, for what it's worth-- it was really big, and delicious (filled with Just Egg, hash browns, and vegan sausage). Definitely a good stick-to-your ribs option if you're super hungry and want comfort. The Korean fried cauli with the gochujang was my favorite, hands down-- so, so delicious. I will go back just for this alone, although if doing take out, I'd recommend asking for sauce on the side, since the bottom pieces got a bit soggy. The prices are beyond reasonable. Only thing I'd say to be aware of is that they only have two-top tables (2 outside, 2 inside-- we opted for outdoor), so it's definitely not a place to take a larger group or family to sit down. My sense (from the food arriving stapled shut in a paper bag, even though we were planning to eat there) was that they are aiming for primarily take-out here. While heading home to SoCal, stopped by Paso to supercharge my car and found Ziggy's close by. As a vegan, I'm so grateful there's a vegan place I can get some real food to eat besides the usual fast food places that I can't eat near the gas stations and superchargers. I'm sorry but for $29.50 for 3 impossible taquitos, added guacamole (for 2 tablespoons for $2.50, not even that fresh with brown tint) and a vanilla shake the size of a baby sipper ($9.95), that's just crazy!! I normally love their food, but it wasn't as good as I remember. Visiting Paso for a month, and we enjoy healthy plant based foods. Thought we had found healthy vegan foods at Ziggy's but we were wrong. For four of us we spent $82.95 for someone's take on what we'd call vegan fast food. The food reminded us of the food we might get at a diner called the Greasy Spoon. If that is the owner's intent, then they are successful. Our fries were tough and tasted like they had been made earlier in the day. If you're looking for healthy vegan or plant based food, this is not the spot for you. Ziggy's specializes in take out. Yes, they're a vegan restaurant, and no, I'm not a vegan. But, that didn't stop me from enjoying my lunch...immensely. Great spot and you do NOT have to be a vegan. Had the Crunchwrap taco and it was the best taco I've had in years, bar none. Get it. I'm a vegetarian and I always give vegan restaurants a chance, whether in Hawaii, San Francisco, or Monterey. Usually I am disappointed, because I still like my food to taste good. Ziggy's is THE BEST place I've found by a long ways. Take your partner there, even if they eat meat. You won't have to apologize. Every town should have a Ziggy's. I'm sure it's mostly take-out, but we found a table in the middle of the week around lunchtime. If there's no seating, just get it "to go" and find a bench at the park. I tried Ziggy's for a vegan experience. I arrived 45 minutes before closing. 4 other patrons were there having just finished their orders. The place is an "order at counter" type of place & has 3-4 small tables. The cashier was responsive to a couple questions I had, but when I ordered a drink on the menu I was informed they were out for the day, so I just skipped it. I placed my order to go, but the 2 couples before me appeared to be doing a "foodie crawl"; going to different shops to try a different course at each one. So as I waited they received their food which was bagged to go. It was now 30 minutes until closing, so I saw that they opened the bag to sample the food while seated at the little tables. The two couples were promptly kicked out by the cashier saying, "It is to go only, no eating here because we're closing." It was pretty rude, but maybe the cashier had another commitment and needed to close promptly. Once I got back to my hotel room, I found the veggie burger to be delicious! It was full of fresh tasty toppings & was incredibly filling! The shop was decorated in a fun, tongue in cheek way & was amusing with the names of menu items! Ziggy's was our first stop on our big honeymoon road trip to central California. We are so glad we stopped by! It was crazy delicious! My wife considers herself a "junk food vegan" so Ziggy's was her perfect spot! We started out with the avocado egg rolls (SO GOOD) and enjoyed the KCK salad (also incredible), and I had the chick'n sandwich. Everything was so delicious, and the person at the counter was so nice. She gave us a free Ziggy's sticker! I think I will put it on my laptop. I recommend this spot to anyone, vegans and non vegans. I've been a Ziggy's fan for almost two years but since they combined with Sylvester's Burgers, the Ziggy's Quality has gone down. I ordered Black Bean Taquitos (my favorite) and received Impossible Taquitos with large pieces of kale and cabbage (why?) all piled up on the taquitos instead of finely sliced kale (no cabbage) off to the side (like the menu picture). My friends and I are on the hunt for the best fried chicken sammich. After trying all of the chicken places around the county, my vote is Ziggy's chicken (but it's not chicken, but tastes like chicken) sandwich. It's perfectly proportioned patty to bun with all the fixins that stays together when you eat it...mic drop. All the flavor a chicken sandwich should have minus the grease. I also like the fact that it's somewhat healthier than other places. I like that the menu has expanded since they've opened, shows that they have open minds and are willing to show us new vegan options. Shout out to Matt and Alex, they keep the show going! The good: I came here not realizing that it's a vegan restaurant; sometimes you can just look at the pictures and know that a place has good food, and that was the case here. And I was seriously blown away by what I tried. The mushroom burger isn't your typical mushroom burger; there were probably 30+ mushroom slices on there, and they were delicious. The Ziggy patty is hands-down my new favorite vegan patty, beating Impossible and Beyond by a wide margin (be aware though it doesn't taste anything like meat, and I don't think it's meant to). And the loaded fries were amazing as well. The meh: Not much seating room, just two small two-person tables. The one real "meh" thing I can say about this place is that the burger was pretty much impossible to pick up; I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The Ziggy patty, while more flavorful than other vegan patties, doesn't hold together worth beans (see what I did there?) and the rest of the burger was so overloaded with toppings that the bottom bun was completely soaked through, even though I ate it as soon as it was served to me. Don't get me wrong though; I wouldn't have them change anything about the burger, it's just different to eat a burger with a fork and knife. The bad: Nothing, honestly. This place was great. Super small and cozy interior with not too much going on but the host was nice while taking our order and brought the food to our table. Food came out pretty promptly. We ordered the Chick'n Sandwich (buffalo style) and the ratchet fries. The Sandwich was probably closer to a 3/5 nothing great but everything was fresh, would have like slightly more flavor had a dry kick from the buffalo seasoning but not much depth of flavor. The ratchet fries were incredibly delicious a full 5/5. The seasoning was great, the fries were fresh, and all the condiments were given in proper amounts so nothing was overpowering.
