This place has been our go to breakfast spot for so many years. After our past few visits our group is all in agreement that this place has gone down in food quality. Our normal order is pasole and brown rice bowl. Pasole our past few times has been lukewarm and lacking flavor. This past visit we waited 45 minutes for our food and saw most of our plates getting cold at the window. We had to ask our for a status of our order when normally we have never waited more then 10-15 minutes. Food was again barely hot. The brown rice bowl was dry and is now missing ingredients and no longer is anywhere near the same dish as it was. They didn't even put the pesto (magic green sauce) in it. It's as if there is a new chef running things cheaper now. Today as we woke up planning to go to paso for wine tasting and our group had zero interest in going there for breakfast due to past experiences. It no longer is our go to breakfast spot which is sad. Also we have noticed on our past visit that front of the house staff and back of the house staff didn't seem to be communicating well. At one point we watched one employee working with the a cook and the cook just stared at the employee ignoring her. When there is communication breakdown in a restaurant this begins the gradual death of a business. Hopefully they can clean it up fast. We may give this place one last shot but if it's just ok quality we won't be back. The food is too pricey to just had bland lukewarm food. read more

Me & my significant other went to breakfast here the other day- we got a burrito and an order of the chilaquiles as well as some other drinks. The drinks were fine and the food was presented beautifully however- the breakfast burrito was essentially just a flat egg wrap which sadly didn't have anything else inside of it. The chilaquiles looked amazing but they were so spicy!! Myself and my partner only took 2 bites of the chilaquiles and had to stop. The ambiance and atmosphere was beautiful and very cozy but I don't think it was worth the $70+ we paid. Would be willing to go back however! read more

We waited in line for about 10-15 minutes with only 2 people in front of us. This part moved fairly slowly, it would have been nice to hear from staff during this wait because we were unsure what the hold up was. All we saw were staff moving around, not tending to the line without providing updates or a simple "we'll be with you soon". After ordering our food, everything else ran smoothly. We got our food and coffee in good time and everything was absolutely delicious. Cleaned the plates! What we ordered: Corned Beef Hash (7.5/10) had a tangy flavor I could have gone without but still very good Chilaquiles (10/10) crunchy, perfect spice, and delicious. Never had chilaquiles with guajillo, so that was a nice surprise. Ricotta Pancakes (7/10) super dense, felt more like eating biscuits rather than pancakes. Good flavor though! There's indoor and outdoor seating, including bar seating. The service was on the slower side, even though we were like the second to be served while we were there. The latte tasted as if it was drip coffee with some cream. The breakfast burrito was not good. The egg in there tasted fake the sauce being used was not good and the chicken sausage had a funky taste. Altogether this is going to sound weird, but it tasted like I was eating a Pho breakfast burrito. Weird. So we both tried the ricotta pancakes, and the pancakes were a little flavorless seemed like there was no butter or syrup and then the lemon and berry part were also low flavor. There are patio heaters should the weather be coolish. Staff is friendly, but service is limited to the delivery of one's meal, and clearing the table. One places their order at the register, gets their own beverage, napkins & silverware, and selects where they would like to sit. When ready, your food is brought to your table. We chose the Eggs Benedict and their Loaded Avocado Toast. The hollandaise sauce on the Benedict was very mild in flavor; it was not as rich & flavorful as many other venues. There was a good amount of ham tucked between the eggs and toasted English muffin bottom. The Loaded Avocado Toast had applewood smoked bacon, tomato, arugula, and a sunny side up egg on top. The bacon was extremely overdone, the avocado was elusive under the arugula and not plentiful. Parking can be a challenge as the parking lot is rather small. We stopped by Kitchenette to grab breakfast to-go. The interior had farmhouse-style decor with blue accents and they also had a nice shady patio in the front. They weren't super busy on a Saturday morning, and we were able to order at the counter right away. For coffee, they only had vanilla syrup, so I got a Vanilla Latte. The flavor wasn't very strong and none of us were thrilled with our drinks. I also ordered the Acai Bowl, which the guy at the counter said was amazing. Templeton is a very picturesque town with a kind of a farm theme and some very nice small cafés and restaurants. Kitchenette is definitely the one to go to to eat breakfast! We got there early and got a great parking space in the small lot, but you can park on the street. We went to the counter and ordered. Since I had studied the menu. I got probably the least breakfastish dish- the Vietnamese salad and my husband got the eggs Benedict, which he had enjoyed before. We sat down and it wasn't long before the food came out. It's such a small restaurant that even if it's packed full, there aren't that many people ahead of you. I had the Ranch Hand salad last time and felt like it was a little too close to a "real" breakfast for me, so this time I chose the Vietnamese salad because of recommendations of other Yelpers! I really enjoyed this salad. There's something very crave bowl about the dressing and the chicken was just right the way that it was grilled. We sat and enjoyed the buzzy breakfast ambience. Even though it was very busy, I was acknowledged quickly, and the team was welcoming. - Unfortunately, I do not recommend the pastries. Both of them were bland and dry. My cinnamon croissant smelled like cheese and cinnamon and cheese do not go together. I assume this is because they were located so closely together in the glass case. - The crumb cake was tasteless. It tasted as good as it looked. We were lucky to score a table inside as it was a bit too cold to sit outside. The BLTA was delicious. I noticed that several other posters have commented on the seasoning aspect of the food. It didn't detract from our experience though. Dear Hubby, Sweet Granddaughter, and I were on a vacation recently. We were focused on spending time on the Central Coast, and had met with family in Paso Robles the earlier part of the week. Time has moved on and that place is either gone, or moved. When I couldn't find it, Kitchenette popped up as an option. Glad that we decided to stop in. This is a local's place, though I imagine they serve tourists passing through the area. A hearty greeting was extended to all upon entering. We made our way to the ordering counter, studying the menu until it was our time to order. The menu is hearty, with different twists on breakfast favorites. Because of my restrictions against having cow's milk dairy, I ended up with a child's order of French toast, eggs, and chicken sausage. SG had the same, but gave her eggs to me and had fresh berries instead. That made her very happy. DH went for the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes. Such fluffy 'cakes I haven't seen anywhere before. They were a work of culinary art! Something special to try if that's your inclination flavor-wise. The food was excellent, and the service was warm and genuine. They could have used more help, especially for busing tables and cleaning up. I'd gone outside to the large patio space to take a phone call. Many of the tables hadn't been touched in a while after diners had left. We might have normally sat outside on a warm morning, but there was a distinctive eau-de-manure aroma on the air from one of the ag--related businesses in town. SG wasn't having it and definitely wanted to sit inside. As this is a scratch kitchen situation, being patient while the food is prepared is a must to have a good experience. There are a few tables inside and bar seating, which are tiny, but we opted to dine inside because it was a hundred degrees outside. Not exaggerating one bit. We were greeted immediately once we walked in. She found out it was our first time and offered answers on any questions we had and didn't mind us taking our time to decide what we wanted to eat. After ordering, the food didn't take long to make its way to our table at all. My kids quickly decided on a pancake, French toast, eggs, and bacon. I opted for the Fried Egg BLT which was so tasty, and it definitely hit the spot. We had some potato Croquettes which were pretty heavy but nice and crisp. I had a latte and the quality of the coffee, I could tell, was really good. It seemed to be the perfect spot for brunch or to get your coffee and a pastry. They have a glass case with a selection of generously sized fresh baked goods. So I went here twice a couple weeks ago while on a road trip to Paso Robles for wine tasting. We were staying in an Airbnb that was about 9 min from this restaurant but it is so good, we did not mind waking up early before the rush to get coffee and breakfast before a long day of wine tasting. The first time we went there I got a Vanilla Latte w/ Oat Milk and the Brown Rice bowl which comes in at $15 and is V/GF (Vegan/Gluten Free) and oh so delicious! It's probably my favorite item on the menu and has kimchi pickles, sunny egg (which I got fried), feta cheese and this delicious homemade hot sauce. You can add Pork for $4 but I did not do this option. The second morning we went, I got my usuall Vanilla Latte w/ Oat Milk and decided to switch it up and get the Breakfast Tacos which are alos very good and filling. These are $16 and come with 3 tacos made of beer braised pork (I opted for a non-meat option), red potato, scrambled egg, onion, cabbage, cotija, creme fraiche and house sauce. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and that's always half the battle when going out to eat so it's refreshing for everyone to be positive and smiling when you are going out to eat. Since we came around 9am, there were only a few people and we were able to get a table with a heater outside because it was cold out but it was perfect once the heat was cranked up. Went to Kitchenette in downtown Templeton for Mother's Day breakfast. It's such a small little spot and was absolutely packed with a huge line out the door. We totally expected a wait because of the holiday, but it honestly seemed like they were extremely understaffed for a busy Mother's Day morning. The same woman taking orders was also making all the coffee drinks, running food, and bussing tables. She was working incredibly hard, but it felt like way too much for one person to handle. We ordered coffees first, then waited while she balanced all her other jobs before eventually coming back to take our food order. We found a cozy spot inside and probably waited around 30 minutes for the food. That said, the meal itself was really good. We had a basic breakfast, the breakfast tacos, the Morning Glory sandwich, and the sourdough toast was especially delicious. Portions were on the smaller side for the price, but overall it was a tasty meal. But not cool to leadership. Then the awesome Hispanic lady there, always so nice and professional, making it so wonderful of atmosphere, after several months disappeared. Wasn't sure why, but missed her friendliness and attention to delivering food, cleaning tables, refills, etc. Great person. Then another person, who does a great job at another restaurant, professional, nice, just like the Hispanic worker that left, suddenly not there. I had witnessed the chef being a strong headed, and forcefull personality lowering the worker morale. Bam, the dots connected. On top of all this, that chef insists on cranking up his Hispanic music, so its unbearable inside. The normal over the speaker music masked by his. That music is fine for a taqueria restaurant, but off from the typical country/rock music that the prior chef/manager played. So the atmosphere is a bit off putting for me know knowing the good servers left for common reasons. His cooking talent is good and food still consistent as before, but the once relaxing and happy environment has gone. So, I've taken a break from visiting. A restaurant isn't just good food, but a needed warm relaxing welcoming experience that draws in repeat customers. I have enough stress in my life and only want a happy morale staff experience with good food. So, I've gone to The Nest in Atascadero to get that happy happy. Maybe things will cone around. The tacos were very very good and delicious and hearty. The chilaquiles on the other hand was 80 percent tostadas which were too crispy with not enough sauce to make it softer like a normal Chilaquiles. I would recommend they clean the aesthetics around the kitchen area window panels, vents and fans since it was black and clearly not cleaned in a bit.
