The BEST massage of my life... hands down! If you're looking for a humble, unpretentious massage, look no further than Zhong Huang Spa. Again, this place is not fancy nor does it pretend to be. It doesn't need to be when magical hands abound to give you the amazing massage that you deserve. Sure, the masseuses may talk some to each other through the wall while you are getting massages, but I just tuned it out. They are speaking a language I don't understand, so I just tuned it out. And, yes, the rooms are small, so they have to slide the massage tables a bit to get all the way around you to work different areas... but, come on, it's NYC. Spaces here are small. Forget what the complainers are saying, and check this place out. It really is the real deal, and I highly recommend it to anyone. Place is nice, foot massage was great, however the boss is a monster and ruined the experience. While we were getting our foot massages, the boss who runs the place also set down for her foot massages and started heckling us for high tips since the previous customer didn't leave her a large enough tip. Her voice kept getting louder and more aggressive and she just wouldn't let go. She wanted us to commit to a high tip while we were still getting our massages. It's gotten so bad that we abruptly ended our session and left the facility. The 3 male masseur's who provided the service were visibly petrified of their boss and felt ashamed about our experience. Great price for Chinese deep muscle massage. We got 60min foot massages which included an optional neck/shoulder massage. The masseuse goes deep/hard, so be sure to speak up to ask for Lighter/Gentler if it hurts. They will accomodate. They put a towel on your back so no skin contact. Mostly middle aged/older male masseuse. Friendly and not talkative. The ambience had nice meditation music. Chairs are in a row for the foot work and curtains across from there for the body work. They do ask for quiet but people talk but not at all too nosy. They are on the 3rd floor, no elevators, so will hear the ambulance/horns outside. The chairs are very wide and comfy, I almost fell asleep. Go to their website for pricing. Very competitive pricing. Cash establishment. Please do tip as this is hard manual work. I tipped just as I'd tip my LMT for bodywork. Due to health issues, I do not get lower back work done by any other than an established LMT/Acupuncturist. Know your own body's needs. I think a good and responsible masseuse should be able to sense when they are going too hard. They should know when to stop. And when they see excessive bruising, they should STOP. I had a 90 minute full body massage. Sisi was hard, and when she started on my neck, I told her to go lighter. It didn't really lighten up, but I thought, I should trust them. They should know what they are doing, right? It was extremely extremely painful. I gritted my teeth through the pain. I didn't know it was going too far bc I couldn't see the damage, but she could. She should have lightened up or checked in with me. I've never had such severe bruising after a massage before. I am in A LOT of pain and this is plain wreckless, dangerous, and irresponsible. Look at the damn picture! They also cracked my neck. I've never had my neck cracked at a massage before. That's something at a chiropractor. Cracking the neck isn't advised for everyone. I have a neck injury, and my doctors have told me not to seek chiropractic treatment. I didn't even think to need to tell them not to crack my neck, because in my 15 years of getting massages in the US and also in Taiwan and Thailand, no massuese has ever cracked my neck. I've had deep tissue massages and Thai massages, all intense and deep, for the last 15 years. I have NEVER left like this before. I am going to call the business tomorrow and demand a refund. I'm furious, and I feel violated. Will update. Update: I called and asked for a refund. They said my bruising is normal and a sign that I my energy has been unclogged. They said that other customers have had worse. They told me this is normal and not to worry. I consulted my family and relatives. At first they thought what I experienced is normal. I had a 90 minute massage with a woman masseuse. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. We started with a 30 min foot reflexology which was fine. However, I was really dissatisfied from the 60 min full bodywork. Traditional Chinese bodywork is not your regular soothing massage-- there's a firmness to the touch and generally leaves me pretty sore the next day. On the other hand, my bodywork experience at Zhong Huang Spa was excruciatingly painful. I verbally said "ow" multiple times and asked her to not push so hard. She was particularly careless around my upper back/neck area, and towards the end of the massage, her method was incredibly chaotic and randomly pinched my inner left shoulder area by my neck. I let out a verbal scream and yet she still seemed indifferent to the pain she was causing. While the price is affordable, the back and neck are pretty sensitive areas and should not be treated so frivolously. I certainly won't be returning. read more

My group all received foot massages of mediocre quality. The masseuses didn't check on any of us. Other places would have the masseuses regularly ask "is this okay?" I can easily overlook that. However, what drops this place down is the tipping. For a $35 tip, I felt that a $10 was fair and generous. The cashier obligated us to give a $15 tip. That's almost a 50% tip. Been a customer to this spa for many years, but this is the first time I come back after COVID. The new location is better than the previous two locations. This one is on the second floor with windows. The foot rub area is clean, quiet, and bright. The rooms for back rub are small but clean, with clean towels and single use paper bed sheet. I am very disappointed by this establishment. My friend and I came in and the sign outside said $25/hour for a foot massage. We sat down and they said we're getting a back massage first. We asked if it's the same price, they said yes it's part of the $25/hour; 15 minutes back; 45 mins foot. My masseuse smoked and I can feel the cigarette smell on my back. That was nauseating. The massage hurt on my foot as well and when I yelled and told him to stop; he laughed and continued harder. His co worker next to him had to tell him to stop. Who does that? My friend was in pain the whole time. It did not feel good. There were 2 women who started before us on their foot which means they had just finished their 15 mins back massage first. However, we all finished our foot at the same time. I didn't register the time when we started but I believe we lost 15 minutes. When we went to pay the lady said it was $30. We said it was $25 but she said no it's a different price after 8pm. But she had confirmed it when we asked if the back was at an additional fee. We didn't win the argument and paid $30. We paid the 20% tip of $6. The masseuses had the audacity to ask for $10. I will never come here again. Horrible service, jips the customer and very shady. Also after reading Michael S's review below I think I also got bed bug bites on my leg. I thought they were mosquito bites but I did receive them there as I got super itchy. When you walk in, it's a white door on the third floor which will make you second guess yourself, but just walk right through! Prices are extremely affordable although they went up during COVID. $40 and up for one hour body massage which is still very reasonable. There are no doors, only curtains, so you can hear people talking in the hallways. If you are looking for value, come to this place. Today is my lucky day that I have visited ZH. I was troubled by my left shoulder since it was pulled last July. So I called in advance to let the owner know my issue if there is someone to help me out. It did! His name is Alan. I was really amazed about how precise he can pin point all the painful spots that I have. It was firm, deep, nonstop from 90 min extended to 2 hours, it is Tui-Na, but it is also a medica massage. It was good pain and I am really grateful that in order to survive the pandemic, they have moved to a new location, so they don't have to raise the price and can have such nice and clean and bright place and good staff to serve people like me. So, friends, I wish all who have read this review can be healthy and happy. If you have constant tight neck, back, shoulders and like deep/firm pressure, Alan is the best choice. They didn't seem interested in providing a great massage, which leads me to why I am not recommending this business. Mandatory tipping that is not disclosed nor posted. I have big issues with business that have hidden fees. So, my 90 minute massage at $60, which is a great deal was mandated a minimum $25 tip... or $85. Luckily I brought a few extra dollars, because my $20 tip in hand was not sufficient. The lady at the front desk pointed at a hand written sign stating something about COVID-19 and $15, but verbally told me I had to top a minimum of $25. I was hesitant because my massage as stated at the beginning was just OK. A friend who came along was panicking because he chose a 60-minute foot massage for $30, and only took out $40 from the ATM. He was told that tip was a minimum of $15 and was held hostage to get $5 from me. I wasn't prepared to share this venue with the rest of the world, but seeing as they're red hot with reviews left and right, it appears the cat is out of the bag. When the going gets good, one should write a review not as means of gratitude, but because they simply deserve recognition. It was just a matter of time before they were well repped online. Massage spots are as common as food stalls in Flushing, the former being available in practically every direction, if not every building. Zhong Huang is one of the better ones, providing a steady share of quality masseuses and affordable pricing to boot. While they aren't the only Zhong Huang branch in Flushing, I happen to prefer them more than the rest of the bunch. They're accessible by small flight of stairs that lead to a spacious basement off Roosevelt Ave. Inside what would be the living room area, is about 8 chairs (4 on each side) meant for foot massages. There is usually a television playing Chinese TV / movies and the left side of the facility is for full body massages. Not much privacy, as each partition is separated by a curtain and walls don't go up to the ceiling. This means every smack, grunt, chop, giggle, fart, is audible for at least 3-4 stalls. One's imagination goes wild when the sound effects are a little too overbearing. While the full body massages are great, I am a huge fan of the foot rubs. $20 during the early bird hours is worth it, but it will go up to $30 once the afternoon and evening kicks in. Don't be surprised if it's one day at $35. The key to scoring a great massage is knowing your masseuse. David and Gary do an incredible job with their super strong hands, no bad experiences to speak of just yet. Plenty of screaming and wincing though (ouch in a good way!). Lastly, there is constantly a steady stream of locals and non-Chinese coming in and it can get loud at times. English is definitely not good here, but they'll still happily accept any coin they can get their hands on. The owner / manager will typically collect payment post massage (note: cash only), but will lobby for paying a lump sum of $250+ for something like 10 massages. Paying up front (which is later recorded in by a handwritten notebook) might come in handy for regulars and for folks who might not have much cash on them. Get it get it! Roll out the knots please What did I get I got a full body massage for 60 minutes. It is downstairs, I was asked what I wanted and also asked if I wanted male or female. I don't like the fact that they don't speak much english... So I just let them so their thing. I got naked and under the sheet and patiently waited.. I was faced down so I really couldn't see the person. Though it was a full body massage it definitely was more upper body focused. He didn't do much of my lower body, just massaged my legs a little but that was it. I appreciated the work he put into my shoulders. I didn't like the head massage, definitely going to opt out of that next time. First he massaged me without oil, just with a sheet over me, then he put oils on me to get more into it.... I wished they communicated with me so I could understand the process more. Though he did wipe me off after he used the oils. Environment This was downstairs in Chinatown. If you are just doing foot massages there is open space for them to do that, but there is still a partition between the counter and the space, if you are doing the full body massages there are private rooms.
