This well reviewed spa near where we were was perfect to fulfill my teenage sons desire for a foot massage. Heck, I decided to get one also. We walked in and there was over 6 employees sitting on the fluffy recliners used for spa services, while watching tv. They seemed surprised when we walked in, enough so that my son and I questioned whether we were supposed to be there. I told them we each wanted the $20 30-minute foot massage. They tried to tell me it was $28. At that point I pointed to the menu and price and they relented. Massages were below average. My masseuse didn't hit pressure points correctly so I t hurt. They used an open container of Vaseline as the massage oil. Like dipped fingers in something they clearly have used before then slathered it on our feet Then came time to pay. I gave $50...$40 for the massages and $5 each for a tip. The lady wasn't happy. She told me $10 each. I've been to another location before and it was a fabulous massage so I tried this one once i found out that one was closed. This is legit in an alley. I'm never too skeeved out with places but an alley? The space inside isn't terrible but there isn't any music so it just feels cold and open and quiet. I waited 20 minutes for a masseuse even though I called ahead, and my husbands massage started so it was off our schedule (and we had a dinner resv with friends after). I had to ask twice if someone was coming and when he finally did, it was rushed obviously and I cut it short by 15/20 mins because we had to go. The massage itself was OK. First time coming here after they relocated and sadly disappointed. I have been to the former Roosevelt Ave. locations over a dozen times and they had some very decent masseuses, but not here. Firstly, I was swayed by the $5 offer on Yelp and hadn't had a massage in months, so when I showed them the offer on my phone, she goes 'Ohh yes, no problem.' She introduced me to my masseuse and led me to the room. When she began, I knew right off the bat that this was not going to turn out well. She needled me with her boney hands and rubbed my back in every which way with no consistency. I barely made it to 5 mins, before I HAD to politely ask for a new masseuse. The 2nd masseuse walks in and introduces her and picks up where the other left off, She was more adept and had firmer hands, but she too was inconsistent - sometimes too hard, sometimes too soft ... and she LOVED using her elbows and knuckles, as opposed to her hands and thumbs to massage. I was writhing in pain when she was knuckling my legs and I had to beg her to stop and just focus on my neck & back. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give the massage a low 3. As I finished up, I went to the front desk to pay and the girl asks for $30. I said, I showed you the $5 offer and you said ' No Problem!' and she proceeded to BS me and say the offer was an 'old offer'. After a few seconds, she must've noticed my displeasure and annoyance, so she assuaged and accepted the $25. I would've given my review 2 stars, but you get -1 for the BS games. This traditional Asian massage parlor was sub-par compared to all the other highly rated spots. Pros: -good central location -very accommodating hours, opens Late until 12am midnight usually Cons: -front desk host/owner doesn't communicate too well. I was early to my appointment, but they let me in my room. Waited about 5+ minutes which feels like forever when usually you get an attendant in 1-2 minutes in other spots - EVERYONE was talking loudly and rudely in all the rooms next to me. Absolutely worse noise factor out of every other massage spot I've been too. Host didn't control the volume, but also chimed in on the conversation lol *albiet, it was late during the night 10pm + -the table and table sheets I got were noticeable dirty and "well used " ugh *barf -I received some light red bumps on my face. And MAJOR rashes on both my hand after the massage ...it's never happened before -I always tip well at these low price/good value spots , but the host really tries to overlook you to control your tipping. Gotta say...New Yorkers get it spoil with massage places. Open until midnight! Walk-in = no problem...let them make a couple phone calls...and the massage therapist will show up within 15 minutes. We stop by on Saturday night around 10pm. Place was quiet and clean. Receptionist "Jessica" was really personable and friendly. We were able to get our massages within 15 minutes upon arrival. This place is amazing!! It's right off of the Flushing Main St. Station, so it's easy to get to. Mac and Lulu both give excellent massages and always check in to make sure the pressure it good. If you want it hard, they will make it HARD. It's like they magically know where all your pressure points are.
