I have to say for my first time at the spa place I had a good time with my friends. I always heard bad stories about this location, so I never tried it, but my friend was like she never experienced bad things there and when she goes it usually during the week when there's not a lot of people and that's what we did and we were able to enjoy every part of the location. Everybody was nice and polite. Everybody was friendly. The drinks were good. The food was good. The ambience was good. Everything about it was good. We were there from morning to close that's how much fun and comfortable. We were being there and relaxed. I will definitely will be going again. So don't go by the bad publicity or bad information you get from people try for yourself to find out how the location is.

This is my first time at Spa Castle so I can't comment on the facility and changes pre renovation. We decided to take advantage of the spa on veterans day, which was a Monday since the weather was fairly warm for fall. I was dreading to see the place packed with kids since school was out, but was pleasantly surprised. The spa was fairly empty and had so many open spaces to eat, sit, and lounge. The locker room was clean and spacious. They provided 2 towels and a robe to be returned unless you want to pay a $35 fee. I started my day exploring all the amenities from top to bottom and was impressed by the nice decor and variety of hydrotherapy jets in the pools. The outdoor deck had 2 large outdoor pools, 2 hot tubs and a dry sauna in the middle. I enjoyed trying all the massage jets and soaking in the hot tub. The main floor had about 5 dry saunas but the most impressive one was the Himalayan salt sauna. It had lit pink walls and tall mirror ceilings, perfect for selfies. It also felt like the warmest room out of the bunch. Other sauna offerings were jade, color therapy, ice, gold, Halotherapy, and infrared. Though we did not eat at Spa Castle, there were two dining options and their prices were not terrible. I think the new admission prices ($110 for adult weekends) have reduced the amount of spa goers, keeping the place clean and spacious. I spent about 6 hours here and could have stayed longer. It was truly a relaxing and therapeutic experience that I recommend. My one complaint is the price of the Korean body scrub for $95, which is almost the price of admission.

I finally returned to Spa Castle after 16 year and it was a fantastic experience. I don't quite remember much from my last visit, I distinctly recall having a great time, and this visit didn't disappoint. We arrived on a Saturday at 10:30 AM, which is pretty soon after their 10am opening, and were pleasantly surprised to find it not crowded at all. I mainly came to test the place before planning a girls spa day for December. Therefore we decided to take full advantage of the facilities trying everything... every floor, every sauna room, steam room, relaxing chairs, pools etc. Overall, we loved the experience, although we did notice that only one sauna was truly hot; the others could have been warmer. I thoroughly enjoyed the steam room in the bath area - you really break a sweat there. I also wanted to address some of the reviews I'd read before going: Contrary to what some ppl claimed, we found that the spa provided everything we needed: robes, towels, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. I can't believe I paid attention to these reviews and packed unnecessary items like shampoo, conditioner, and slippers and body lotion. And the food was priced FAIRLY. What do guy guys want? A dollar tree meal Did they even go to the lookout floor (level 4) ... we found it to be great, with prices for food that felt appropriate for a spa setting. Overall, our day at Spa Castle was great and I will definitely go ahead to plan a girls spa day for my friend's birthday in December

One of my favorite places to unwind. It is especially nice in the winter with the outdoor heated pool. I find it is always clean and the locker rooms/bathrooms are well maintained. I cannot speak for the food but drink options (non-alcoholic) are good. It can get particularly busy during the weekends but it is perfect on an early weekday.

We appreciated the different sauna rooms The heat helped with sinus and stress tension The dinner we had was a solid 6/10, it was a little low on salt and flavor but overall we enjoyed most of it. The ambiance is pretty relaxing and everyone is in their own zone. We came on a week day Tuesday evening and it was perfect and almost empty which was great and quiet Service was also good and informative

After hearing and seeing Spa Castle went through new renovations, I had to check it out. I actually never experienced it before the renovations, but I think I got a glimpse of it at the check-in area. But past that, everything seemed clean and sleek. Especially outside, the construction was heavily inspired by Greece, and made everything feel so serene and grand, with plenty of hydrotherapy amenities. There were quite a number of lifeguards around for the small space. Not very relaxing in that sense. I personally loved the sauna rooms here more. They offer color therapy and infrared saunas, which I haven't seen elsewhere. The food is the worst spa food I've tried. There isn't enough variety too. The Humming Bird smoothie though, got me wanting to make it for my own from how delicious it was. It's a shame the food and game rentals closes shop way earlier than their actual 9:30 (really 9PM) closing time. Don't expect much coming here past 6PM. The service was also pretty dreadful. Make sure to check Groupon for admission deals! For a one time experience at $139 for 2 on a weekend, I enjoyed my spa day here, especially given its price and convenience of being in the city.

Ok, after years of wanting to try this place out, I MADE IT! Firstly, I took an uber here from the train. Spa Castle no longer provides the shuttle to Main St. There seemed to be some parking around the area, but only street parking so I suggest getting in early. As soon as I turned the corner, there was a line, but not out of the door so I was thankful. SN: I just travelled an 1hr and 1/2 from Brooklyn to get here, so nothing was turning me away. The line took around 15 minutes. $50 for weekdays and there is no time limit. I was given (1) tiny little hand towel and a watch. I went to the lockers, which sync with the watchs given. The watch number is your locker number. Pretty easy to use once you find your number. Most people have flip flops, so I would suggest that.(It really should be no shoes all together but it makes sense to have flip flops, the place has many floors). By the lockers, was the first pool room I saw. I honestly didn't even notice it was nude only. Like 6/7 different types of pools ranging from hot to cold. I was in there for awhile but then I was asked to leave because I was not nude. I told them I may come back later. Around the corner was a sauna, but way too hot for my liking. I popped my head in and out. I walked up the 2nd floor, which I immediately skipped because I wanted to see the rooftop! The 3rd floor has 3 sections outside, the kiddie zone and 2 outside pool areas with jets, showers and seats. Inside has two sides separated by a snack/food bar. Most people were getting ice cream or frozen drinks. The rooftop was nice, and is maybe on a school day it would of been more relaxing. A lot of families with their kids, kids splashing all over the place like its a water park. I also felt is wasn't that hygienic after awhile. Some jets worked and some did not. I was pretty much 50/50. I stayed up there for about an hr and a half. Moving around trying to stay in the shape when possible. After, I went back down to the 2nd second floor. This floor had a food shop. People were sitting around eating. On the side is mineral saunas and infrared red light area. Overall, It was worth the $50 dollar. I will definitely try them another time. Suggestions: Bring a towel and flip flops. Get there early. Come on a weekday.

I took a friend to this spa for their birthday. It was outrageously expensive for a facility that has kids playing everywhere. Robes, slippers, etc weren't provided. We got a massage and it was so rough and not at all relaxing although we asked for less pressure. The pool was packed! But the saunas were empty. I don't think I'd go back. It was a nice thing to do once.

I had a great day at spa castle. I arrived around 1pm and got baked in the ladies section. Then I put on my bikini and went to the saunas and the pools upstairs. The food was good too! Legendary day! I did get a Groupon so the price only cost me like $45 plus $23 for food. I left when they closed around 9:15pm. Can't wait for another Groupon deal! Thank you spa castle! The renovations look really good too.

Spa castle has been my "easy" spa to visit from my first visit to my most recent it's gone through some good changes. Usually go for the any day pass since it works better for us, I had family visiting early during the year & didn't realize the place was going thought some renovations & the outside pool was closed so we were left with the inside pool which was only not bad because it wasn't crowded. Flash forward to my most recent visit & the main renovations seem to be done u can certainly see the difference, new colors, they fixed all jets in outside pool the outside area has a bit of Santorini vibe because of the colors which is nice. Great that they finally fixed this area up , they have plenty of sit down areas, new area I noticed is the penthouse area nice views outside, nice calm area to relax in. Drinks prices are unfortunately pretty ridiculous but seem normal these days at $11-22 for drinks. Snack foods is more reasonable for $3-8 for basic, nachos, hot dogs, ice cream etc. Food options are not bad we tried Turkey burgers & Chicken fingers along w a Mozzarella salad it was good also tried the Chicken wings & Chicken Dumplings also not bad. U can see they put some work into the renovations, lockers room are nice & bright , happy they are back to providing robes, slippers & towels let's face it as they should for what u pay. They seem to have more life guards & security which is good & I've notice much less rowdy crowds if any really. Not a big fan of kids being allowed as I personally don't think it's a kid type environment they should make some sort of kid free / kid only days. Price wise finding a sale or groupon helps weekdays are $85 while wknds go for $110 not terrible only because u can basically be here all day should u choose to be. Overall we like the new upgrades & because this spa is convenient we will continue to visit from time to time as it serves its purpose.
My family and I came here on a Friday and had a fantastic time! Pros: - About a 50-minute drive (35 minutes without traffic) from Bed-Stuy, and found street parking right outside the entrance. - Easy check-in and seamless locker experience similar to Sojo Spa, where you put your shoes and clothes in separate lockers. They provide a bathrobe, a hand towel, and slippers. No outside flip flops allowed. When you are ready to shower, you can ask for larger shower towels. - Large, spacious, and clean facility with Greek-esque blue and white architectural details. We enjoyed the open layout with the different heated pools, the vast array of strong jets, and the hot tubs. All the jet buttons worked, and the jets turned on right away. We loved the large Himalayan Salt sauna, which was also the hottest. Overall it wasn't crowded at all! - My daughter loved the outdoor pool with the overhead waterfall, the indoor pool right by the bar, the playhouses in the relaxation area, and the kids' playroom. - The hydrotherapy pools, cold baths, and steam room in the changing areas/locker rooms were clean and well-maintained. - The Korean food is delicious! The Korean Beef Stew was some of the best we've had in a while. - Kids allowed (all ages accepted!), and my daughter had a blast! Cons: - Some of the rooms, such as the relaxation room at the top, could use an upgrade. - The co-ed outdoor dry sauna needs to be much hotter. Wish they had a co-ed steamroom like at AIRE Ancient Baths. - Some of the shower heads in the sitting shower area were weak and needed fixing. - The foosball table for kids was missing the ball, and needed extras around. - $13 ramen was the 85-cent Paldo Gomtang Korean Beef Flavored Instant Noodle Soup you can get at H-Mart. Note: - Take advantage of the 30% off admission special offers on https://shop.nyspacastle.com/newyork/index.php. $59.50 for adults M-T and $77 for adults F-Sunday. You cannot redeem and use it within 24 hours! "Any earlier attempt to redeem is invalid. If you plan to visit the facility within 24 hours, please make your purchase in-store." So much fun, can't wait to come back with a large group! read more

I've been a loyal Spa Castle customer from day one, even during the times they closed for renovations. I've always supported this place and truly wanted it to continue being great. Last Wednesday, we visited from around 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM (they close at 9:30 PM), so we were mindful not to rush them or their closing shift. Overall, the spa experience itself was good. The facilities were fine, and the food was absolutely chef's kiss as always -- that part never disappoints. I also understand that prices have gone up, and while Spa Castle is now priced similarly to SoJo Spa, I didn't mind paying more since everything else in life has also gone up. However, the experience was completely ruined at the very end. When we were about to leave, we realized there were no hair dryers at all -- not even one. Yes, you read that right: a spa with NO hair dryers. I asked the three ladies at the front desk if there were any hair dryers available, and they told me, "We don't have any. Customers steal them." I was shocked. That is not the customer's responsibility -- it's the spa's responsibility to manage and replace basic amenities. A hair dryer is a basic service at any spa, especially in winter, when it's cold outside and people cannot walk out with wet hair. When we went to check out, a male and a female staff member were at the counter. The man asked how our experience was, and I honestly said everything was fine except for the fact that there were no hair dryers, which was very disappointing. He looked at the female staff member, and she said, "We do have one hair dryer. Did you ask them?" I told her yes -- we asked twice, and three employees told us there were none. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, her tone was rude and dismissive. There was no effort to resolve the issue or even acknowledge how uncomfortable and unfair that situation was. No spa should send guests out into the cold with wet hair after they paid full price for the experience. Sadly, the lack of basic amenities and the unprofessional attitude at the front desk completely ruined what could have been a great visit. I was very disappointed, especially as someone who has supported Spa Castle for years. At this point, I would rather go to King Spa or SoJo Spa, where customer service and basic spa standards are taken seriously. Very upsetting experience, and sadly, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I want to preface this by saying that I came here with my mom on Mother's Day so my hope is that this place is better on less busy days. It was so crowded that none of the hydrotherapy massages were open. There was a wait for everything from the pools to the saunas. Once i finally got a place at a hydrotherapy massage the jets were so strong it nearly blew me out of the water quite literally. Think a shiatsu massage but with water pounding your back. I mean if that's what you are looking for then power to you. To be fair some of the other hydrotherapy seats were gentler. When I saw that this place would be kid friendly I really underestimated just how many kids would be there. It felt like a water park with hot water. As if water parks could get any more disgusting! In keeping with its water park motif, the floors were so dirty with cups and bandaids littering the area around the pool. They didn't have enough slippers so they just gave me one that was 2 sizes too small. I guess it didn't matter anyway because someone ended up stealing my slippers. Plus there was hair floating around in the pool. The saunas were okay but so crowded and did not seem very clean. The food was mediocre. I ordered a dolsot bibimbap and they used the wrong type of rice which was undercooked and they barely gave you any meat. I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because my mom and I did not let this ruin our day. We had a good laugh about it afterwards and it certainly was a memorable Mother's Day. We had fun but was it worth $110 per person? read more

I had an AMAZING 70 min scrub, by Lesly , she scrubs head to toes, is thorough, and checked throighout the scrub , too hard, soft, to make certain I would have a pleasant experience, She lathered me up with lots of soap bubbles, and after each step , washed with warm, water. She massaged me with lotion , hair wash m cranial massage, and wrapped entire body wrapped in gold leaf, which is used for its luxurious appearance and skin benefits. It is applied after exfoliation for enhanced absorption, with warm towels on top of the foil!! Face was wrapped in cucumber, and After my scrub, bubbles, lotion, foil, massage and exceptional pampering, Lesly , instructed me to wash only with water then dry sauna to have the lotion absorb !! Highly recommend Lesly is AWESOME !! Colleen read more

Pretty cool location, affordable to go to for a day pass and there's plenty of parking. Massages here are great. The food options are a bit limited and it can be pretty crowded on the weekends, however it's still a great place. I recommend more signs and maps around to know what is where. Otherwise, will return read more

Once upon a time in the halcyon days of Spa Castle (read: maybe 2008), this sprawling complex might have been the height of accessible indulgence. But now it's more like a cautionary tale about the perils of under-maintenance and over regulation. Spa Castle, while cheaper than other spas, feels like a cross between a budget hotel, public pool with an overzealous hall monitor. There are indeed so many possibilities in the space. Saunas of various temperatures and different salt make up galore, each one a sanctuary or sweaty purgatory, depending on your heat tolerance and the hygiene habits of your fellow bathers. The outdoor pool deck is actually quite nice, and maybe makes this place still worth a visit. Once inside, I think the reality of this place sets in. I've never been to a spa that doesn't provide towel service. I was also basically playing a game of "the floor is lava," except instead of lava the floor is a petri dish of microbial horrors. Absolutely would not recommend walking around barefoot. Some spas feel clean enough to do that, this place does not. There are signs posted everywhere warning against PDA, which makes me question what goes on here. They also cap each person to 1 drink at a time, a strictly enforced rule that gets annoying when you want to buy multiple drinks at once for multiple people in your group, but each person has to go to the counter to get their own. Again, I'm wondering what kind of antics go on here for them to have these warnings plastered on every wall. It's $85 per person on weekdays and $110 per person on weekends-- I'd rather just spend a little more for a nicer spa. I suppose in many ways the lower prices means they're democratizing luxury and everyone deserves a spa day. But... I would brave the waters elsewhere. read more

Me and my best friend stumbled upon spa castle one day on groupon and decided to give it a go. With our entrance already paid for check in was a smooth process and we headed to the locker rooms. Everyone was clean with staff coming by to clean often. With our wristbands it made it easy to order food and drinks within the facility! I highly recommend to anyone nearby! read more

0-10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Have not been to this place will not call it a spa in years. I don't know when this place became the family fun day of resort spas but it's giving low budget family staycation vibes. I'll start with the entrance where the security at the front desk ask to check your purse. At the check in they ask if you want to purchase an alcohol drink package? I found that odd and declined. We walk into the ladies locker room and it's resembles a gym locker. Lockers were assigned with everyone crammed on top of each other. There was plenty of space but everyone seemed to be piled up in the same area like it was the public pool!Changing area was repainted and brighter than I remembered. Some renovations done. But when I went to change I saw several children in the ladies locker room. Ages ranging from 3-10! Both girls and boys. I was immediately vexed by that. Did not come to hear kids on my day of relaxation. Love kids , have three of my own but not at a spa. And definitely not in the area where other women are completely naked! The wet area cold and hot temperatures were definitely off and did not have the accurate temperature. Best part was the steam room so far. Many have no spa etiquette. There was loud talking or loud whispers. Nothing relaxing about that. Decided to tour the rest of the facility. Upstairs where the food was they were selling hotdogs, hamburgers , fries ,fried wings , frozen pizza cakes ,cookies , chips, old prep packages fruit salads. Basically junk food. Not a fresh health juice or fresh vegan options in sight. I passed on the school cafeteria junk and moved on to the sauna. Someone had left over drinks that had been left by people for quite some time . No one came to clean up the area. Some of the rooms people walked in just talking loud as if they were in the park! Several couples had infants with them , yes in the sauna areas... smh Had the nice conversation with a gentleman that told my daughter and me about a child in the mens locker making comments out loud and pointing to another man's private parts. Which opens the door to very questionable behavior with some of the adults in this place. The place opens up a whole can of unsavory activities. He also warned us about the outside pool. He said he went up there and it was like a daycare center! Kids everywhere and some were unattended. So we went up there somewhat prepared. And it was a hot mess. Half eaten franks and pork sausages all over the seating area. Exposed left out on tables. Wet towels and robes on the chairs so there was no place to sit. Hot tubes well over the capacity. Drinks cups all over the place. And yes there was a full bar selling alcohol. A $45 drink package and a smoking section to boot! Don't know what was being smoked but I was ready to go by this time. We were warned but didn't expect that. Figured I'll just spend 30 minutes in the steam room and shower and get the hell outta there. But that never happened because three little naked girls ran back and forth yelling jumping from tub to tub in the wet area. No parents in sight. No staff to ask them to conduct themselves properly. I was waiting for someone to slip and fall and bust their head to the white meat. Running and hollering like they were on the playground. So I went to take a shower and get the bell out of there. Over head another woman yelling at kids . Even told one with special needs" PUT YOUR HAND DOWN BEFORE I BREAK IT OFF!" I had enough by this point. A young lady that was seat upstairs walked up to my daughter and I and said "I'm fucked up" she wasn't belligerent. But could not get her dress back on. She kept asking my daughter "you good, you good." Clearly she purchased the drink package. I was going to purchase one of the new cute little robes they gave us. Until the clerk tried to give me one they had clearly just laundered...For $35 nonetheless, laughed and said never mind. If you looking to waste $130 for these type of places have it. I will remember the days of years and a cute lite spa, but this place will never see me or my money ever again! 0 out 10 I would never recommend!!! read more

Overall we like the new upgrades & because this spa is convenient we will continue to visit from time to time as it serves its purpose. read more

Went on Thursday 12/27, surprisingly it wasn't crowded. I have been to spa castle few times before renovation, this was my first time after they reopened. Purchased I believe $55 Groupon and honestly it is what is worth. I wouldn't pay the full price. The place was clean and it is nicely renovated. However, saunas are absolutely not hot enough, especially the one in the separate nude (or what used to be nude) area. It literally wasn't hot at all, which I find quite odd and disappointing. Outside pools were great and warm enough for a very cold day. They don't have the buffet anymore so we ate upstairs in the "Korean " restaurant. It took a while for the food to be ready, they had only two women making the food. Staff is entirely Hispanic and many don't speak English at all. Overall it wasn't bad but my biggest issue was the lack of heat in saunas. read more

Was my first and Last time! The staff doesn't speak English !!! (Yup ALL OF THEM!!) Super unfriendly with the weirdest rules that no one follows. Kids screaming and running around so forget about the spa zen environment. Towels are given out once and if you want a dry towel they will charge you! 20%+ tips were added automatically to every drink, food, spa etc without being told. My massage was done by a person literally learning on me, I felt it was his first time too and that cost me $168 for 30 min ....it said 50 but it was 30 and they take advantage of you because there are no clocks anywhere ! Today cost me over $300 for 1 person and I'm still confused for what!!! read more

Plain and simple this place is no longer a Korean spa. It's just a facility with some outdoor pool areas & saunas. I've been frequenting this establishment since 2012 and have only seen it go downhill. I don't know if it's because of COVID or if they finally just completed the fall from grace they started years ago but I'm done and here's why: They have stripped the place of everything that wasn't bolted down: No more valet parking. Park yourself if there's room in their adjacent garage and walk down a steep parking ramp because no stairs or elevator are available. No more towels. No more uniforms so folks aren't wandering around in swimsuits in the lounge areas. No more foot massage room Fewer staff around The salad bar is only on weekends now. On a weekday visit, one of the main outdoor pools was closed for cleaning. I get the need to be clean, especially now, but the staff here seem to think bleaching the hell out of everything is the answer. As a case in point have a look at my swimsuit which they ruined with their high chlorine content. I sat down in one of the water loungers facing outdoors and after being there for 30 min or so looked down to see my entire bathing suit had changed color. That's a perfectly good suit ruined. This used to be a place to come relax with your girls, or family. Now it's a free for all. On my most recent and final visit, a man sat next to me in the jacuzzi area with his flip-flops STILL on. Your shoes in our bathing water? No thanks. Small children with no swim diapers abounded, and children with noodles (as if we were at a public pool) also made an appearance. Other true Korean spas may now charge more but clearly you get what you pay for, and in this case, I was left wishing I could get my $50 back because a trip to Astoria's free pool would have been better. read more
I really wanted to do something different with my daughter so i decided to have a girls day here with her. I actually like the fact that you can bring your kids to this Spa. The outside of the spa is huge. Looks like it used to be a warehouse. The entry process is pretty easy. You walk up to the counter, the person at the front desk asks for your ID and payment. Its $50 per person. My daughter is 11 so she also paid full price. They give you a wrist band with a number on it. After paying you go into the 1st locker room and lock up your shoes. You use your wrist band to unlock all lockers. There are no signs showing you where the 2nd locker room is so I asked some of the staff and they pointed me into the right direction. The locker rooms were clean, pretty spacious and easy to use. We locked up our remaining belongings and headed to the spa area. You have to bring your own towels here. I recommend bringing two, one to come in and out of the pool with and one to dry off with once your leaving the spa. We ate at one of the food stations. We got pepperoni pizza and a fried chicken sandwich with fries. All of it was pretty good. Later on we did get a Frappuccino and that was good as well. At the bar my daughter had a pina colada and i had a frozen peach Margarita with patron. I loved the drinks. We first visited the pool area. The kids section is still closed. The jacuzzi was open but the water was not hot. The pool was alot warmer then the jacuzzi. Most of the jets inside of the pool are broken so you cant truly enjoy the water massaging jets. Inside by the bar, theres a section where you can sit in the water on tables and have your drink. We sat there for a while and enjoyed the space. The opposite side has a pool with massage seating but they were all broken. The four to the left have water jets spraying at different pressures and the ones to the right of them don't even work. After the pool we went to the saunas. They are located right next to the food sections. We layed on the infrared tables first. I loved that. There's space for six people to lay and six rows of lights which were all working. The ice sauna was closed. We visited each one of the heated saunas. The most bearable sauna was the Color Therapy room. It was warm and we were able to sit inside of some time. There's small little sections you can sit inside of that are different colors and each color is suppose to provide some sort of support. Some of the saunas were completely unbearable but we still visited each one and spent some time there. The salt sauna has a leak so there's a musty smell. The hot tubs and small pools inside of the locker room are great. I dislike that you have to be completely naked to enter them. I feel like that's completely unnecessary. Swimsuits should be mandatory and no cover up, etc. I like the ease of making purchases. You scan the band and pay it all at the end upon exiting. I ended up paying about $80 additional for the items we purchased inside. Overall this place is good to try once or twice. It could be so much better IF they made some repairs to the amenities that are broken or leaky. It would also help if someone walked around with a pool net and clean up the hair in the pool. They should also make sure the jacuzzi temperature is hot. This place needs some tlc. I had a good time here with my daughter. I still think its pretty awesome that children are allowed here. It's definitely somewhere i recommend trying once. read more

Our bartender MARK !!!!! best everrr. love him. you have to get a few drinks and dip in the pool :)
They close even earlier now. I managed to get here early (before 12p) and stood until close (9:30p). Nothings really changed other than they have lifeguards now (why...). These LG can bring their cellphones into the soak area... where guests are nude... NOT OK! The place is still filthy even though they were closed for "renovations" after covid. The soaking pools have so much grime and crap in them (I pulled what appeared to be a piece of wire from a brillo out the water). No photo because phones are not and should not be allowed. Although they appear to test the water for contaminants they do not appear to drain the waters after closing and actually clean the pools (feels like grainy stuff on the bottoms.) I don't not recommend picking at it because ya might vomit from what you find. This was definitely the last time I'd be here. Cleanliness is the same (gross). Only common areas, such as hallway floors, are constantly cleaned not communal areas, such as saunas and soaking waters. Loudness is the same in quiet areas. From about 5 hrs or more one sauna room (gold) was jam packed with a group bogarting the room and chatting up a storm. People talking with outdoor voices, opening and closing sauna doors never to enter. Some opened the doors to step in and yell for their friends to come in only to step out again (still loudly talking)... Food was not good at all, bland, oily and a disgrace to Korean cuisine. Waters and saunas are not as hot as they were (everything is warm or just comfortable). None of the clocks work which can be a bit dangerous in the wet saunas. Overall I'm just lucky and glad the times I've come were with discounts and I never left with infections. Oh and those ladies know how to give exceptional scrubs and need to be given all the money :) read more

Love it but has gotten expensive. Wait for the Groupon to go! It's a great facility and so relaxing!

If you're looking for a real Korean scrub this is the place. Not to mention with their renovation it's very clean and nice and a lot of facilities. Only downside is it can get crowded with kids and families. So I recommend going early morning on a weekday to avoid the crowds. read more

What a shame.. I used to go here and enjoy my day. They closed for renovation for a very long time and while it ooks beautiful inside, still nothing works. Certain jets in the pools are out. 100° water is likely 80°. And the outdoor area is still not open. I left after 20 minutes and had to get a refund from Groupon. avoid this place at all costs, unless they get their act together. read more

It is a shame how far downhill this place has gone, and I don't think it will ever be back up to a high quality standard. This used to be my favorite spa. The cleanliness is gone - when I opened my locker it was wet and had a used towel inside. Immediately I noticed that people in the men's spa were allowed to wear their street clothes, and that probably contributes to the dirtiness of the spa area. There were several groups of young kids running around the spa like it was a water park, with no supervisor whatsoever and no attendant in the men's spa to stop them. I mainly go to the spa for peace and quiet. Specifically I went to the quiet zone in the common area, normally a place I could catch a nap if needed. On this visit people felt very open to playing Tik Toks on full volume, laughing with friends, and other casual conversation. I won't be returning. read more

I would be hesitant to call this place a Korean Sauna. There are better places that can give you a more authentic experience for cheaper. Even if it wasn't labeled as a "Korean Spa" I still would say it isn't worth the price. This is my first time I've been there after the renovations. Fluorescent lighting everywhere, even in the nude baths and changing rooms. Not super relaxing. They also added a line of lockers in the back, which reduced the amount of space you have to change, and put on lotion, etc. The temperatures of the saunas and nude baths were not hot. Slightly hotter than body temperature at best. The steam sauna in the nude section also did not get as hot or as steamy as it used to. The nude baths also got a lot of people with their swimsuits on, which was not a problem, but it did annoy me. The problem was when people started bringing their phones into the nude baths. Staff did not do anything about this. The big hot clay sauna was changed into ANOTHER Himalayan salt sauna with mirrors (?) on the ceilings (why???), the temperatures stayed and hovered around 130~, when previously they had temps ranging from 120~170. They got rid of the sleeping stations and added in more sofas. They also got rid of the nice flowing waterfalls and stuck almost every surface with white tiles. Not super relaxing in my opinion. They also don't have any posted signage about when the food stalls open, and the staff were pretty rude about it when questioned. The pools on the 3rd floor stayed exactly the same, with some cosmetic changes. A lot of the touch-activated water jets don't work, and the pools are still the same as before the renovation - rusty and slightly dirty. Now however, the sauna in the middle of the outdoor area also doesn't work. The only thing bumping this review up to two stars is the food. The food is decently priced and good. The third floor has pretty good Korean food that doesn't cost like 20 bucks for Shin ramen. Overall, the new renovations and management got rid of anything that might be able to describe this as a Korean spa. It's just pools. The renovations didn't improve the facilities, and in fact have decreased the quality of them, sacrificing them for looking "instagram worthy" and modern. If you're looking for a Korean Spa experience, this is not it. Even if you're looking for a relaxing spa experience, this is not it. 85$ entrance fee?? For this??? Definitely not. read more

Relaxing day going from Himalayan salt room, to infrared room to polar ice room. Lovely outdoor pools with jets for any achy muscle. Unfortunately, I lost my tennis bracelet while there. (Therefore, I strongly recommend others remove jewelry they would miss before going). However, all the staff (lifeguards, locker room attendant, security guard and administrative staff) were all extremely helpful and allowed me to look for it until closing and again the next morning. Unfortunately, I have not found it, but am still hopeful it may be in the filters. Fingers crossed!!! read more

HOW TO RUIN A DAY SPA by Amanda Raker Oh, Spa Castle. I remember your glory days of quiet weekdays where my spa buddy and I would take a sick day, convene in Flushing, hop on a complementary shuttle, and bliss out in a clean and cozy Korean day spa, with piping hot saunas, floor mats, and relaxed lighting, surrounded by appropriate spa etiquette of hushed voices and matching uniforms. The new "renovated" Spa Castle is blasphemous, ostentatious, and depressing reminder of what used to be. Upon entry to the locker room, I was immediately blinded by the new décor where everything is white, reflecting harsh florescent lighting overhead. I was half expecting someone to roll in an exam table with some stirrups and give me a pap smear. In a country where 70% of the population is overweight or obese, let's keep these locker rooms lowly lit, shall we? I don't want to see every nook, cranny, and cellulite ripple here. Venturing into the nude women's baths, they now have clothed lifeguards there to watch you bathe, which seems creepy and unnecessary, considering the baths are less than 2 feet deep. Some women were wearing bathing suits in the nude area, which I also found annoying. Women don't ogle each other's bodies, and its blissful to be nude in all the different temperature pools. Except that changed too. There used to be various temperatures and names for the baths: "Event Bath" at 103 degrees with fun lighting, the succinct but aptly named "Hot Bath" at 108 degrees. Now all the baths were a tepid 98-101 degrees. Gee, let's hang out in some body temperature water! Maybe a placenta will float by. On to the general area. I was so excited to revisit the large hot clay sauna, where you had an enormous dark room heated to 170 degrees with multiple levels. I was shockingly disappointed to discover the only change was to remove this one great sauna, and replaced it with, yep, you guessed it, more florescent lights, more Himalayan salts (when they already had another salt sauna) and a mirrored ceiling like some sort of sex dungeon. One is now forced to stare at themselves when lying down. Great, now I get to see how fat and how middle-aged I am. Thanks Spa Castle. But the worst part is that the temperature in this, and all the other saunas, was tepid. What's the point of having all these saunas if they are all the same temperature? The only variation is that some smelled like a toilet freshener at Port Authority, and others smelled like dirty socks. Why, WHY did they have to take the best thing, and mess it up? On to the pools. Exactly the same as before. No renovations except for a paint job and some cosmetic changes. Just some couples groping each other among the jets. What's gonna float by this time? Ick. Oh wait, let's remember that the M.O. of the renovations was to take away the best parts, and they did remove the outdoor showers that you could sit under on a stool and get a massage. My spa buddy got a drink, and the refreshment area was blasting the archaic Alice in Chains' hit, "Would". When I think of a serene spa soundtrack, a grunge rock tribute song about a heroin overdose from 1992 isn't the first thing that comes to mind, but clearly this is a new vibe. This... plus an increased entry fee?! I feel I should be compensated for having to endure these shoddy and thoughtless renovations. Cleary this spa is not under the same management. It's now just a sad Instagram template for Queens basic bi*ches. Sadly, I won't be back, until the Korean management returns and rights these egregious wrongs. read more

We called ahead to find out if it was wheel chair accessible and was told yes. I flew in from California to take my best friend for her birthday and although the facility was clean, it was not accessible. Parking lot was for employees only yet there was an elevator that would have taken me straight into the bldg. instead I had to use my wheelchair down steep ramps where the cars come in and drive it around the block. The entrance to the saunas and dining and massages had a large step up and my wheelchair couldn't go up. Then there are steps to climb to get into the various saunas. I couldn't do it. On the deck with the pool. Yep you got it....steps no ramp to go outdoors to the pool. I had to get help from another guest and the staff to climb up steps and down steps into the pool. I have ALS and what was supposed to be a relaxing day was very taxing on my body. I'm giving two stars because the massage was great and they were very helpful in helping me get dressed and off the table. This place is a liability for anyone who can't walk well. From pulling the back of my wheelchair to get me up a large step to workers physically helping. Anything could have happened to me or my chair, which are my legs. read more

I used to love this place. Still do inna way. But its really lost a lot of its original charm with the new renovations. #1 The harsh bright white walls + the florescent lighting (especially by the pool bar!) make you feel as though you're in a hospital or in a mental asylum. It's really hard to relax and almost induces a headache when you sit there for too long. #2 A lot of the metals that connect to the pools have rust on them. I feel they could easily clean that up with the right products and look into cleaning some of the mildew spots that build up around the corners. #3 The mirrors and lighting in the pink salt room (used to be my favorite space) really make you feel unrelaxed. I had to cover my face with a towel to enjoy the experience and really go within. #4 I actually love the food!!!! Thankfully its decently priced. I always get the Bimbimbap and highly recommend the Chicken Katsu or Bulgogi dishes. All excellent and I love the accompanying sides. #5 The new uppermost level is really cool. I went on a really slow day with my partner, we found ourselves relaxing on the reclining couches, trying to sleep so we actually dimmed the lights to be able to take in the outdoor view (there's a beautiful giant window), we got in about 20 minutes but of course! Someone from security came up and turned the obnoxious lights back on. We were literally the only ppl up there and it really ruined the moment for us but we didn't complain and just kept it moving. #6 ADMISSION PRICE -- Spa Castle's main clients used to be a lot of locals. People in Queens who visit frequently and really enjoyed the convenience of a local and private escape for under 50$. That way you could actually spend more on your drinks, services and or food. But 85$/weekday and 110$/ weekends?!?! I think we all feel it's not really worth that much. #7 Since the reopening, I've visited a few times. And there's a big muscular latin security guard, who really needs to check his attitude. He acts like he owns the place and is incredibly rude. And if he's on break, I think management should ensure he eats his food in a private area. Not with the rest of your guests taking up space. He takes his job seriously, which is great. But if I was running a spa, I wouldn't want this man being a point of contact for my guests. His demeanor, body language and way of speaking to guests is not conducive of creating great client experiences. And I think someone should address him immediately. Overall experience 3/5 I still love the amenities. But for Gods sake, please do away with these white walls and excess lights! If you don't want to paint the walls any other color, fine. But add some artificial greenery, a grass wall with some fake florals, or any decor to take away from this industrial feeling. Its 2025, get creative! read more

Best day/night to avoid families with kids?
Unfortunately you can't really avoid kids at Spa Castle anymore. They need to implement a "no kids" policy OR a day where no kids are allowed.

They do, but I believe they use females for women massages, and males for men massages.
Has anyone been there since the reopening? Any advise? Recommend?

I would like to book a massage. Is there an option where I can choose my Masseuse?
I'm not sure. We weren't given the option, but I recommend you call and try to communicate instead of booking via computer or using your phone.
Are all the pools heated? I really want a colder pool
They’ve not heated. Regular pools with jets. The hot tub is the only one that’s temperature controlled. Have fun!
The queens location , handicap accessible ? Elevator on site ? Thanks
I have never seen one, nor seen anyone who seemed like they could use one. I would call however, perhaps there is a service elevator of some sort that I just never noticed.
Do they charge you at the door when you have a groupon?
There is small tax fee I think. Less than 2 dollars but you pay for everything at the end. They will check your groupon when you enter however.

It's been a while since I visited Spa Castle so with a Groupon I decided to pay a visit to the "New" Spa Castle. The first thing I noticed about the "new" Spa Castle is the bright lighting in the entrance lobby. It's stark and unpleasant, definitely not what one would expect when they visit a Spa. Once I entered the locker room area, I quickly realized that there weren't too many changes. On a good note, the shoe lockers and the clothing lockers are all brand new. The shoe lockers are larger now and can actually accommodate my size 16 shoe. The front desk attendant gave me a robe, slippers, large towel and small towel and told me my credit card would be charged $35 that would be refunded in full when I returned them. Like the lobby, the locker room is ridiculously bright. I quickly put my clothes in the . On to the "gender segregated "Wet Area". This is where things started going downhill fast. First of all, it is now "clothing optional" so people wear their spandex and nylon bathing trunks without even showering in the same water that is intended as a communal bath as in traditional Jjimjilbangs. Spa Castle should be ashamed of itself for allowing this, and anyone who is aware of an follows traditional Jimilbang etiquette likely will never return. For an expensive Spa Renovation, this looked like a quick "Bathfitter" redo. The same tubs were there, but cleaned up. The steam room was remodeled a bit, but it still was the same. Some of the jets wouldn't turn off (the ones in the cold massage pool) and some wouldn't turn on (the belly massage). The temperatures of the tubs were ridiculous with most in the 90's. These are hydrotherapy baths not heated pools after all and WAY too cool. Bright unpleasant lighting has been added to the wet area including the sauna and steam room. It is definitely NOT relaxing at all. Surprisingly the two shower areas that are off to the side are dark. Their shower head and controls were remodeled but if you look up you'll see the same rusted old lighting fixtures with rusted water in them. The hall monitors come in to check on "inappropriate activity" every 5 minutes but the "inappropriate activity" takes place during the other 4 minutes. On to the second floor. Gone is the Loess Sauna, the large "barn" with dim lighting, pleasant music and a 180 degree temperature. In it's place is the new Salt Sauna. It's actually far smaller than the Loess sauna was but the mirrored ceiling and bright lighting make it feel much larger. Unfortunately, it's a tepid 130 degrees and the ultra bright lighting and mirrors make for less than a relaxing visit. The new design causes a tornado of cool air to rush in each time the door is opened. Also, there is a persistent fan rattle that is annoying. The ice room was also remodeled but it looks unpleasant now and at 59 degrees is too warm. The Infrared Sauna remains dark and was fairly pleasant. On the third floor the outdoor pools are similar to what they used to be but the temperatures are now around 90 instead of 110. These are hydrotherapy pools, not heated swimming pools and they need to be MUCH hotter. Spa Castle's best feature for years was the Hinnoki Sauna, a wooden sauna Jacuzzi with water that was kept around 111 degrees. The sauna was changed months ago to no longer be wooden, but now, not only isn't it wooden, but it's in a Gazebo instead of exposed to the sky. The dry sauna between the pools was a ridiculous 79 degrees. On the plus side, the staff was actually more pleasant than many I encountered in the past but wasn't in the same league as Jamie, a previous attendant in the mens' locker room who was always one of the most helpful over the years. But, on the whole, Spa Castle's redo is actually several steps DOWN rather than a move up. The lighting is way too intense for a relaxing spa, a mirrored ceiling in a sauna is just plain insane, and clothing optional is ridiculous. They do provide water coolers again so you can fill your water bottle. You get a robe (the waiting for an MRI type, not the thick terry type) but no place to put it as you navigate the Castle and no exchanges. Also, one big and one small towel with no exchanges. people probably forget where they put it. The biggest issue is the price. $85 M-Th and $115 F-Sun. There is NO WAY that those admission fees are worth it for this bathfitter redo. For a few dollars more, you can enjoy the pampering of the world renowned Spa in Edgewater NJ. For about 1/3 of the price you can enjoy a basic Jimjibang in Flushing with a high Yelp rating. That place charges the same admission fee 365 days a year but admittedly doesn't have outdoor pools. I have no idea who the consultant was for Spa Castle's "re do" but they obviously never visited a spa and have no idea what a spa experience is supposed to be. There is no way that this place is going to survive with the current price structure. It's just not worth it, even with a Groupon. read more

DISCLAIMER: Foul language is in abundance for this update Damn, Damn, Damn. Like I mentioned before, I was being generous giving this place a 4 out of 5. After visiting a few times, I had to render my final judgement for this score and I'll get into detail for why I give it this rating BUT I also want to touch on some pros before I shit all over this establishment. Don't get me wrong, I do LIKE this place a lot and the saunas, hot tubs, jet streams and all will make you feel like a new person. The saunas vary in temperature, feel different and will certainly detox you. The hot tubs and bubbly jet streams are nice but can be better. The place looks nice, feels nice and relaxing and CAN be a great place to relax. Now on to whats made me lower the score. After my most recent visits, I've seen a decline at Spa Castle and an incline on a disgusting, hideous demographic. As the G.R.A or Ghetto Ratchet Army (as I like to call them and of ANY and ALL races for the sensitive and politically correct) become more informed of this place, the more Spa Castle seems to be flooded with ratchet, ghetto, behemoth clientele who don't know how to act. Spa Castle used to be a decent place to have a small "get away" from the city and such untamed animals but now when I go to Spa Castle I feel as if I'm in an aquarium, sharing the waters with wild beluga whales, fat violent killer whales or I'm in the Bronx Zoo in a cage with wild gorillas, apes, tigers, lions and bears (oh my). This place has gone downhill with its demographic and for me, its a big turn off. As the weather gets hotter, its gets worse. For the GRA this is the closest they'll come to an oasis and paradise and they obviously don't believe in relaxation, tranquility and peace. They want to be loud, obnoxious, get drunk, and try to "holla at the shawties" and the dumb ghetto bitches come here thinking they're hot shit when they come together with their gurls. Besides the GRA; FUCK THE KIDS. This place isn't for fucking kids. Fuck the kiddie pool and turn that into a bigger jacuzzi or something. Why bring kids here? 95% of them don't go into the sauna and for the amount of money spent on bringing kids here you can take them to a water park or something. Seriously, kids don't belong here, fuck them. They're too loud, annoying, obnoxious, dirty and fuck everything up. Other complaints: -While this place is clean they can do some work. There's paint chips falling off certain areas, people leave their drinks and food all over the place, the sanitation has simply downgraded a little bit. -It went from 35 to 40 on weekdays and 50 for weekends. NOT a big deal and I think its fair for what you get but this place is falling off with its services. -Drinks are too damn expensive, in cheap, flimsy plastic cups, limited variety and they suck. Don't waste your money. -I think the food is good but TOO damn expensive. 12 dollars for a burger? No thanks. Save your money and eat at Flushing or bring your own stuff. -Unless you want to enlist with the GRA, DO NOT come during the summer and warmer, hotter weather. Pretend Spa Castle doesn't exist during that time. -A lot of things aren't working like they were. A lot of the water pumps and jet streams haven't been fixed since I've been going. This place is a 4 out of 5 IF: -You come during the cold weather (fall and winter) and its actually better to come during that time anyway, trust me. -Come before 11am-12PM or after 7PM (during the hot weather) Other stuff: -The pool is stupid. Come here if you really want to utilize everything else. I'd rather go to a water park or a free NYC pool if I want to be in 3 feet all around. I enjoy this place, the saunas, hot tubs and amenities and when its not infiltrated by the GRA, it can be a very nice experience and relaxing place. I love acting a fool but unlike the GRA, I understand there's a time and place for everything and during the summer you can forgot about having any real quiet time. Again, I want to reiterate that I want to keep this place a 4 since its in my borough of Queens but I guess its something like this: 2 during the summer, 4 during the cold months. Come during the cold months, since the whole point is to be hot when its cold anyway. If you want to get a tan, be next to a pool and all that summer stuff you can easily find better options, and for FREE. Don't spend 40 or 50 to be trashed by trash. read more

Well, it's been over a year since I visited Spa Castle. So, how is it now? I arrived on Friday late afternoon. No line for check in. The check in crew was unusually polite and cordial so I had high expectations. I paid the full $52.00 admission fee including tax and asked for them to check my COVID vaccination card as is required but they waved it off as not being necessary. No baggage check, no metal detector wanding. I entered a glum looking lockeroom and was delighted to see Jamie as the attendant. Jamie has been there through thick and thin at Spa Castle, and is always helpful to guests so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I got to my locker which obviously had just been used by a previous guest who had just left. I have yet to see Spa Castle actually sanitize lockers between guests. It's not the fault of the lockeroom attendants, either, because they have no way of knowing which lockers are assigned and which are being are-assigned to new guests. I already knew that Spa Castle was providing NO ammenities. That means NO towels, NO Uniform, NO robe, No Soap, No Shampoo, No Hair Dryer, No hairspray, No combs or brushes, No Toothbrush or Toothpaste, NO Razors, NO Shaving Cream. I decided to put my swimtrunks on and visit the outdoor pools. The two outdoor pools (sit down and standing) were both comfortably warm. The jets were either inoperative or operating non-stop. Wires were exposed in several of the jet controls. Since there were only about 6 other guests at the time, it was easy to find an operative jet throughout. Speaking of the guests: I was surprised at how the guests were practicing "spa etiquette". There was a family with two young children, a teenage girl with 6 of her younger female siblings or friends, and a young professional couple all acting respectful. The outdoor sauna was at 111 degrees, worth a visit to dry off before returning to the building. When the scantily clad "model" arrived in a skin color bikkini with her professional photographer, I decided it was time to leave. Sauna valley had issues. Iceland was at 72 degrees and most of the other saunas were tepid aside from the Loess which was 168, unusually low for it, and Jade which was also at 168. The Men's area, was a mess. The "Hot Pool" was at 99. One of the other jacuzzi pools was only half filled with water and was 89. The "Kiddie Jacuzzi" was at 80. Another Jacuzzi was at 101 but someone apparently put bubble bath (at least I HOPE it was bubble bath) in it and bubbles were flowing everywhere! Gay men were "prancing by" for lack of a better word, frustrated by a lack of a crowd for "steam room sex" although the steam room seemed active anyway. Fortunately, there were no families with young children in the "nude area" today. Water coolers and Water fountains were inoperative allegedly due to COVID. Other Spas in Flushing check COVID vaccination status before entering. They also provide uniforms, towels, toiletries, hair dryers, and water fountains or dispensers to fill water bottles. Spa Castle charges $2.50 for a bottle of Dasani water. It's sad to see how much Spa Castle has deteriorated since its glory days 10 years ago. It might have been able to survive during this past summer due to the popularity of their outdoor pools during warmer weather. Depsite the fact that the pools are comfortably heated even during the coldest winter days, few people have taken advantage of that in past years, and I don't think that Spa Castle is going to survive solely off the "gay steamroom crowd". Sadly, this place needs a major revamping that I doubt if it is going to get. Spa Castle sadly feels like it's in its last days. read more

I have been coming to this location for over 4 years (making at least one visit every 3 months). Spa Castle College Point provided my first Korean-Spa experience, and I can safely say I have fallen in love with the place and the tradition that it represents. I've tried other Korean Spa's (like King Spa), and they paled in comparison. The facility is spotlessly clean, the staff are courteous and ready to assist you with whatever needs or inquiries you might have. I have read a lot on this Yelp feed about the staff here being rude and / or unhelpful. In not one of my 16+ visits over the years have I found this to be true. The experience and facility can be confusing on your first visit, but don't be afraid to ask lots of question prior to or during your visit, and I think you will find that staff members are enthusiastic and glad to help. The range of saunas they have make for a full days-worth of relaxation; the hydrotherapy pools work wonders for muscle tension and stress; and the Spa Services are second to none. I've had both the Swedish and the Deep Tissue massage here and both were incredible and left me feeling limber and refreshed for days. The Estheticians, in particular, are INCREDIBLE. I have read some complaints about the price range for services being a little high, but I strongly disagree. I have had several of the facials here, and they have been far, far better than comparable treatments I've had at even pricier Manhattan day spas. I recommend the Aromatic Organic Peel for anyone who is interested in skin-care maintenance. The Traditional Korean Body Scrubs are off-the-charts! I never even knew it was possible to get skin this soft! (Plus the prices for the scrubs are really reasonable: $50 for a transformative 30 min treatment? Sold!) The Aqua bar is the perfect place to chill and enjoy a drink in a heated pool, the Korean restaurant is fantastic, and the outdoor pools are heated and open year-round (which reminds me of Spa's in Europe, where the contrast between hot and cold temperatures provides for maximum refreshment and leaves one feeling invigorated). The bottom line: when I leave Spa Castle, College Point I feel refreshed, energized, and basically brand new! A big thumbs up for my favorite Spa in NYC: definitely worth the trip! read more

First things first.. I came today with a living social voucher so this isn't about the money at all because my entrance was paid for months ago. But I want to say I think it's greedy that spa castle is charging customers the full price when TWO areas were completely closed down including the kiddie pool (which means all the kids were jumping and DIVING into the regular pools) , and because of that the other areas are more crowded. Half the Jets/Buttons in the outdoor pools aren't working. People shouldn't be paying for services that are not being provided. Also the food used to be so good at spa castle, now the menu is much shorter. I ordered a spaghetti and meatball dish which used to be great but now it was gross. I would have preferred the canned version. The drinks have become disgustingly overpriced. Almost $20 for a Miami vice when the line is ridiculous just to order the drink and the slow service to get it? So many people are crowded into that one small area just waiting for long periods of time. That's insane. I also would suggest that there should be a time limit on the three drinks policy. I understand that you're trying to control people getting out of control.. But someone who paid to be there all day, that got there at around 12 pm and stays until close, should be able to get more than 3 drinks especially because the overpriced drinks are watered down and pretty small... Maybe you should have to wait a an hour or two after the first three drinks before purchasing another? Just an idea. I liked that there was a lifeguard now walking around being vigilant from time to time because security has always been a problem at spa castle (I've been coming here for years) and I love the addition of the meditation room that was very nice. Soooo nice. I had an amazing time today because I had great company and I got my first body scrub - the ladies who do the body scrubs are great! They did an amazing job! But there is still a lot of room for improvement. And a LOT of things that need to be fixed. Ps- I forgot I wrote a review 10 months ago... Still haven't fixed the issue with the Jets not working.. No good. I still love spa castle, I'm still a loyal customer, just a customer praying for improvements to be made lol. read more

The first time I came to this place, I really liked it. Reading the reviews, you can see two types of people who come here: those who don't know how to follow the most basic rules of common space and those who are angry by the lack of enforcement of those rules. Truth be told, there's a lot of ghetto people going there who think it's a public pool. Except they get away with crap that they could not at a public pool. People complaining about the uniforms: guess what? It's a Korean spa. That's how they roll there. Also, the uniform helps to absorb your disgusting sweat so it's not left on every mat, seat and chair of the spa. Who would've thought, huh? I'm still stumped that they had to put a sign that says "do not dye your hair here." What kind of garbage person do you have to be to do that at a spa? Do you think it's your personal bathroom? People taking pictures in the nude area: are you a devolved imbecile? If you can't deal with seeing other people of your own sex naked without commenting on every different body or giggling like you're an eighth grader, perhaps don't come here. Come back when you grow up. People wearing bathing suits in the nude area. Do you not know how to read? You have like seven pools where you can wear your bathing suit, why are you wearing it at the place where it explicitly tells you not to? People with unruly children...what to say. Can you please stop reproducing yourselves? Or at least finish raising yourself before you decide to bring another human to this world? Can you teach your children basic respect for other human beings? You know it's not just you and your family who inhabit this land, right? In all honesty, I can almost understand why the staff treats all of us like garbage. It's because so many people behave like garbage and all of us have to pay for a bunch of uneducated, horny, loud, obnoxious, vulgar, rude, dirty troglodytes. Reading the articles and some comments that talk about people having sex in the pools, or hordes of men masturbating each other in the steam room in the men's sections...what to say. S**t floats too, and sh**ty people seem to be floating on the waters of Castle Spa. read more
I was on a mission to find a spa similar to this one I went to in Japan that had pools with varying levels of heat and water pressure, and this is by far the best I have tried out on the east coast! The facilities are quite clean and very spacious. It's $40 to enter during the weekday and $50 during the weekend, and you are able to use the facilities as you please (massages and scrubs are added-on amenities). They give out watches with your locker number - these watches help lock the lockers and also can be used to pay for food/drinks/massages - pretty high tech stuff. The pool complex is very spacious with heated pools located both outdoors and indoors. The outdoor space is coed whereas the indoor pools are located in the changing rooms and are gender specific/nude. There is also a bar located at one of the outdoor pools and a separate kiddie pool for the youngsters. What I loved about this place was the indoor space - highly recommend if you can get past the nudity part. Most of the pools are higher in heat here (approx. 100-180°F) and 2 of the pools are for cooling down and are approx. 50-70°F. There is also a wet sauna and a dry sauna. Also, the indoor pools are much cleaner!! The food here is gross coming from an asian with expectations of how korean food should be. It is also very expensive. My family and I ordered food at the self-serve buffet for 3 people and it was $70 total - microwavable food might've even tasted better. Water is $2.50 per bottle. There is a free shuttle service between spa castle and Flushing. Specifically the car runs approx. every 30 minutes from Spa castle to the One hotel at Union St and Northern Blvd. The shuttle runs both ways - pretty sweet if you ask me. Advice: -Bring your own towels or its $2 to rent a beach/full sized towel (otherwise they have mini towels which are free to use) -Come during the weekday, its less crowded! Recommendations: I'd have to agree with some yelpers here - management if you are reading this, please have an adults only section so that kids are not constantly interrupting my zen-mode! read more

I had a nice visit at Spacastle on a Sunday during the early morning hours..We arrived very early 8:00 am as to not be surrounded by lots of people and kids.. We spent the day and also had massages.. I was at the Spa two years ago during a week day, also started early morning.. The difference between two years ago and now is big.. Cleanliness, quiet and relaxing atmosphere, less noisy and no running around unsupervised children was how it was two years ago. Staff was always seen cleaning floor areas which made the place shine and smell clean.. This time around it was clean, but not in all areas.. The first floor bathrooms smelled like urine and the third floor pool with the jets and seats had soapy water that gave me an itch and I had to get out..the suds were not white.. My friend convinced me to dip in it later in the day again and the itching got me out right away. Since we arrived early it was quiet until after noon, many people and children arrived. I like the idea of families spending time together at this place, but I mind when I'm spending lots of money to listen and watch screaming kids run around while I try to relax and their parents are blind and deaf to the disturbance they are causing.. Kids were jumping on the couches like trampolines and not only did the parents ignore the annoying behavior of their kids so did the staff... Two years ago staff smiled and were welcoming, now they look at you as if you are a nuisance to them. In all fairness not the masseuse ladies. They were very pleasant and professional.. It's a beautiful place that needs a change in couches now and more security on each floor, enforce NO PICTURE TAKING, yes that also was going on and demand that parents supervise their children even in the bathrooms.. I will go again very early on a week day and leave before the crowd arrives. I will try it one more time only because I live near, but if there is no improvement I know many other Spas that are also great to spend the day pampering myself as I deserve..Hope SpaCastle is reading all the reviews.. read more

I recently visited the facility for the first time, despite the numerous bad reviews on yelp. It's true this spa is not your typical Day spa, and yes its true they do allow children however it's not as overcrowded and dreadful as everyone made it sound. It's Like the Six flags of spas, you welcome to enjoy all of the amenities for as long as you would like after paying the admission fee. There is no time frame and you can enjoy the facility without feeling pressured to purchase spa treatments or someone dictating which order you should enjoy the facility. Its more than just paying for the spa treatments you enjoying so much more. Your enjoying the seven different types of heated dry saunas, indoor body jets pools, outdoor spa pools, and meditation room. At first I was surprised to receive a wristwatch that would act as my locker key and would apparently hold my tab. I placed all my belongings, shoes being separate from my clothes which makes sense( Who wants there outside sneaker s with their clothes)Afterwards you see this staff at the counter for a uniform which consisted of a tee shirt and shorts. The uniform are pretty comfortable and completely make sense( I mean who wants to sweat in their own clothes! ). After spending about 3 hours inside of the facility, enjoying the heated body jets and dry saunas and grabbing a bite to eat. I finally gave in to purchase a 1 hour foot and hand massage. I figured I deserved it after a long weeks of work, the best part the tax and tip are already included in the price so I didn't have to feel awkward calculating tip and worrying about running to my locker for my wallet. The foot massage guy who's name escapes at the time was absolutely AMAZING. When I left here I felt absolutely rejuvenated , and I couldn't believe this is in hidden in Queens. I didn't have to commute far and definitely need to visit at least once a month. If you looking a quick escape this would be the way to go =) read more

Once again I am writing a review for this place. Because i decided to give it another try this past weekend to see if they had improved anything. And not surprising this place is only getting worse. I found out that the reason for all the chaos and miserable employees is because the management is NOT the same anymore. I always loved coming in to check in with Crisely, and then talk to the manager for a while, which was Kevin. We would always talk about random things and his energy was welcoming. I've encountered the managers now, and there is an Arabic girl who I saw was talking in her language while laughing at a customers face. And there is an Asian guy who looks like a high school kid running around in sneakers and jeans, who just walks away whenever he sees a customer step in. I couldn't even take him seriously. My point is, how do you expect to run a place, when you have people like this, who are not engaging and are not even acknowledging frequent customer's presence. It just all seems so boring and it sucks that almost every time I come back, it's new faces and no one knows what they're doing. Simple inquiries take hours to be addressed by who ever is there. It's just stressful at this point, rather than relaxing. I really hope this place gets shut down, because there are so many violations in this place. And I'm actually surprised that after all the complaints, reviews and pictures attached, they STILL don't get closed. I definitely will not be coming back anymore, its about time I close this chapter and look for a new hangout place for my group of friends. Honestly people save your money, $50 or $60 for an admission where you have to test your luck with the water temperatures. Sometimes it'll be cold sometimes if you're lucky it will be warm. Is not the way I want to waste my hard earned money. read more

Beware. The upstairs recreational bathing area is run by the most unprofessional wannabe thug so called life guards. Their behavior is repulsive and it is alarming that the management for this facility would employ individuals who behave and treat paying customers this way. I am a observant Muslim woman. Therefore I do not go into co-ed public areas unless I am appropriately covered. I came to the upstairs bathing area covered. I was approached by one of these thuggish lifeguards and rudely told I needed to take my covering off to be in the water. Then I was directed to an area where I could rent a bathing suit. My religious observance was completely disregarded and disrespected. Ruined my experience and those of my guests. The guards approach ,unprofessional ism ,tone ,lack of customer service was completely inexcusable. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know. So proceed with caution if your religious practices will cause the staff here to be insensitive and rude towards you as well as embarrass you. Religious discrimination. Take the time to properly train your thugged out life guards to deal with the public with respect and courtesy. Also my review is not the only review complaining about the life guards at this facility. You can provide a safe environment without insulting your guests. I suggest training be given immediately this oversight could cost you more than your establishment can bear. A few more of these and I smell a lawsuit. read more

What a cool place. There is definately nothing else like it in the new york city area. For sure worth a visit. The place itself is huge and is very nice. There are tons of areas in the facility. There are the massage areas, pools, sauna, dining, bars. The pools are the highlight of the place. Up on the roof there are a few pools which are very clean, very cute. There aren't huge, but there are not for doing laps. They are just for relaxing and light swimming. There is sundeck surrounding the pools. The decks are also nice. Again, not huge but we found lounge chairs. The bar area is cool. It is right inside from the pools. It is difficult to find pools in nyc that also have a bar! It kind of feels like you are at a resort on a vacation and I love that. The massage areas are very nice and we had a couple of massages and there were really good. The saunas areas look cool but I did not try them. The food area is kind of basic, but the food seemed fresh. It was good. The staff was very friendly. Now....taking public transportation there is a little complex. We had to take the subway then walk to a parking lot. We then had to wait for a shuttle bus. It was really bizarre, but actually kind of fun just because it was so novel! Again, kind of like you are on a vacation. Not your normal daily nyc routine for sure! I recommend it and also think it would be a great place to bring out of town guests. read more

This place used to be a perfect place to get away from hipster purgatory, Brooklyn. Hopping on 7 train for Xi'an's noodle slurp fest then hitting this hidden gem made the long train ride worthwhile. I read about death of an old man at the outdoor pool sometime last year, but this didn't really deter me from returning to Spa Castle last week. I haven't been here for a while. I guess crowd changed a lot since I was here last. What a bummer. Place got some parts remodeled so it looked nice..that is only for first five minutes. But soon I realized there's some trashy Flushing Main Street ghetto shit going down. If I ever wanted trip over disgusting food trash or get annoyed by bitchy loud mouthed girls who yaps nonstop in the dry sauna I would come here...seriously they looked like some chinese gang bangers. It was just like standing on the busy street corner in flushing, people leaving their trash, being pushy and showing zero consideration for others. I guess these people expect others to pick up after their crap since they paid their entrance fee. Hey, if you're going to act like a pig, do it in the privacy of your home. But then again spa castle's got to make money, they can't be choosy about their customers, trashy or classy Enough of my ranting. This place used to be classy and mellow, at least on the weekdays. I will miss you Spa Castle, and I won't be returning. read more

I loved the saunas! They have varying temperatures and different health benefits that they explain on a map. My favorite was the Himalayan salt sauna that was set at a moderately hot temperature. (Tip: Bring in one of the free small towels they provide to use as a pillow, to sit on, or to wipe away sweat.) Our culture is unlike most others and uncomfortable with being naked. But I thought the naked baths (gender-segregated) were great, and it was my first time trying them out. (Tip: I was super uncomfortable at first, but I did find that other people see you, but no one's really looking at you. So eventually realized there's no need to feel so self-conscious.) On weekends, they have rotating special "event baths"; when I went, Saturdays were healing herbs and Sundays were rosewater. The naked baths are located in the same area as the open showers, which enforce a "no towel/uniform/bathing suit" rule, so know that if you want to rinse off after your day but aren't comfortable with being naked in front of other people, you're going to need to wait until you get home. If you'd rather use the pools where you can wear a bathing suit, they're great as well, and you can also hang out with opposite-gender people you came with. (Tip: The massaging jets are great, and a perfectly viable and free alternative to paying $100+ for a half hour massage.) read more

This place is terrible. Management is terrible. I've been to Spa Castle many times over the course of 10 years. A week before my visit, I confirmed that the business has finally re-opened. I was so excited, I purchased six weekday tickets. On the date of choice, I checked again and it states "open" on google so our group started heading out. When we arrived, the business is closed. I was shocked. We had to leave in disappointment. The next day, I called in to see if management could do us a favor and adjust our tickets from weekday tickets to weekend tickets so we can visit the same weekend. However, this is where the terrible customer service kicked in. First, 30 mins on hold. Second, the assistant manager was rude. The only option that was offered was a refund. Which in my opinion isn't the goal of a re-opening establishment. I have six people, everyone will be grabbing food and drinks and possible a massage. Instead of being a little flexible, they rather us not come. I don't understand why a reopening establishment would rather a long term client and his referrals to not come. Take my experience as an example that Spa Castle is not the best option, as we had other choices, we choose spa castle to support the businesses in our neighborhood. We don't feel like we are treated like a neighbor, more so a nuisance. read more

If you knew how amazing this place was when it first opened you would literally cry. I used to frequent this place on a monthly basis when it first opened and it was an oasis an escape from the grittiness of the city until the low life's from the hood came and f...Ed it up for everyone. The last time I was there was like 2 or 3 years after it opened. There were some lowlife women brawling right outside the spa. Who comes out of a spa and starts fighting??? Then you had the nasty hoes humping I'm the pools disgusting!!!! Low class low mentality types taking one of the most wonderful experiences and running it into the ground. The final straw was when I heard and old man had a heart attack in one of the whirl pools on the upper level and there were no people monitoring these pools his body sank to the bottom and was only discovered after a patron stepped on his body while trying to enter the pool . Just horrible. The management is at fault for one allowing people to get away with the behavior which permeated and destroyed an amazing facility and not keeping up those protective restrictions and then just letting the place go. What an absolute shame. If you attending this place in the first two years it opened you know what I'm talking about. read more

Spa Castle offers a variety of saunas, bathtubs, aqua therapy pools, sleeping lounges, spa service, and food and beverages. Spa castle cares about your mental and physical health. Using Spa Castle facility makes you healthier in so many ways. Saunas, Use of the saunas has so many benefits such as weight loss, skin glowing, better digestion, cleansing of the organs, better immune system, etc. Heated aqua therapy pools Use of the heated aqua therapy pools releases muscle tension due to the many different types of water jets located inside the pools. Combine fun with water and get a massage at the same time. Sleeping lounge No doubt, there was a scientific study that proved people who sleep deeply live longer. After rejuvenating your body using the saunas and pools feel free to get some shut-eye in the sleeping lounge. I am sure that after sweating and taking a shower with cured water you will feel that it is time for some relaxation, want to rest, and pass out. The sleeping lounge offers a tranquil environment that allows you to shut out noise and rest without any interruptions, resulting with you falling deeply asleep. These are my guidelines and information on usage of Spa Castle. I hope this is helpful for new comers. Happy New Year^^ read more

I feel a bit weird giving the spa castle a one star rating because I loved this place so much.. However things have taken a turn for the worst, and worst yet I don't think it will ever change for the better.. I believe they've taken the quantity over quality approach.. As long as there are hoodrats and a billion screaming kids to fill the place they will continue on there downward spiral.. Cons Closed poolside bar Too many noisy kids Loud people in the sauna Bad staff Bar area (who wants to go all the way upstairs to get a drink) Drink prices ($14 for a plain unmixed drink) Pros If ya go in the winter during the week ya might get lucky and half enjoy yourself when there's not so many people around Overall previous ratings have all been correct the place was amazing a true getaway till the gangsters and hoodrats busted up in there getting drunk and having sex in the pools while there kids scream there faces off stealing all the towels and uniforms that really changed the place lmao.. I'm laughing but it's sad and true after I saw this soap opera unfold before my eyes where one Russian mans wife got drunk and started having sex with some drunk Dominican guy I knew it was the end and so it was.. read more

I'm a regular at spa castle. I have always enjoyed myself even with the typical complaints cost, noise, kids etc... This time on a Monday I could not overlook the issues. When you go to a spa you want to feel welcomed and relaxed, but the line was long to get in and the staff was unable to handle the crowd. There was no management to direct the situation so it ended up very pushy and loud. They did a nice job in redoing the locker, but what's the point if it's filthy. The vanity area where they provide the lotions, q tips, aftershave was gross. The q tip had grim in the bottom of the clear container they used, it was obvious no one cleaned or wipe out the container before refilling. Most of the lotions were half open and dripping. I also complained about the soap dispensers twice, which was either broken, empty or filled with water. I was basically ignored. The locker and the wet area just needs a good cleaning. I think it's just getting more crowded and the staff just can't keep up, at the same time they are trying to cut corners to save money. They've changed the menu and raised some of the prices, $15.00 or more for fried rice? I really enjoyed my passed visits but I'm not sure if I'll go as often. read more

DO NOT GO if you expect a SPA or a relaxing, clean experience, The staff is beyond rude, misbehaved kids everywhere (there was a woman with an INFANT on her chest in the hot tub!). The food ratings of the facility are an A, B and C! This is an overpriced, unclean bath house. I took the subway from Manhattan and I wish to warn others... The media who all gave glowing reviews of this place should return and see what's it's really about. HORRIBLE. Do not go! Disclaimer: I joined YELP with the intention of writing a poor review of this place to warm others (I attempted to speak with a manager to inquire as to why 20+ patrons were waiting outside in 90+ temperatures for a shuttle to return to the subway but, he flat out refused to look at me let alone engage in productive dialogue. Days later and I am still concerned that I might have picked up some sort of a foot fungus or infection and hoping that the high chlorine in the hot tub killed the semen from the couple clearly grinding next to me (yes, when I realized what they were doing, I got out of the water). Totally gross. If anyone has connections to the health department, let them know a surprise visit would generate tons of income in fines. read more
