We've been here before, and the place looks much nicer compared to our last visit. The receptionist was very kind and even offered us chocolates since we arrived early, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the couples massage experience was disappointing. We booked a 90-minute session, but it took about 10-20 minutes before we were brought in to start. Despite that delay, the session still ended exactly at the 90-minute mark, so we did not receive the full time we paid for. During the massage, both therapists frequently stopped, dropped items, whispered to each other, and repeated the same moves throughout the session--even during the foot reflexology--making it feel rushed. At the end, one therapist did not speak English and repeatedly pointed to the tip, making it clear she felt it wasn't enough. This made the situation very uncomfortable, especially given the quality of service. While the space looks improved and the front desk staff was friendly, the lack of professionalism during the massage outweighed the positives. read more

I needed to use up some ClassPass credits at the end of the month, so I booked a 60 minute deep tissue massage at Healthy Spa. The spa is located on the second floor up a steep flight of stairs. Inside, it's very clean and serene feeling, though a little outdated decor wise. The front desk was friendly, and I was immediately taken into a small room for my massage. My masseuse was awesome. He checked in with me throughout to make sure the pressure was okay. Throughout the massage he used a nice smelling oil, hot stones, and a hot towel toward the end. He really got into my pressure points, and worked out the knots that have taken up permanent residence in my shoulders. This is the first massage place I've ever been to where they handed me an iPad to circle the parts of my body I wanted them to focus on and the level of pressure I wanted. Was there yesterday for the 90 minute service (60 min body and 30 min feet) Didn't catch the therapist's name but it was an older Asian lady who clearly either didn't understand any English or didn't care that I was in pain. I went in due to severe sciatica pain which started from my glutes, hamstring, calves and my feet. When she first came in, she asked if I wanted it medium or hard. I said medium. But at least to me she was applying lot of pressure and I was in pain and I made it clear that it's hurting and to go a little softer. She just laughs and continues to do it. I'm now in pain the entire session for the upper body portion. This is where it gets worse. Once she got to the lower portion where I was actually in pain and went to get a massage for, she was ruthless. To the point that I'm screaming out loud and telling her to stop and I'm slamming the bed with my fist because the pain in unbearable. She doesn't care nor softens up. Instead she just keeps saying "why? Why hurt so much?" Especially when she went to my calves that's when I just couldn't bear it anymore but again, she does NOT care. It was the most painful massage I've ever gotten. When we were finally done, I saw her outside to collect the money and she's just laughing and because I don't want to stiff her, I still tipped her $20 and left. But will not ever return. Either have therapists who understands that the clients are freaking in pain and change techniques or pressure amounts, or just don't perform and service at all. This was a nightmare session of 90 minutes. I'm not the type of person to argue about trying not to pay for service or tips but now that I'm home and probably in worse pain than yesterday in those areas, I wish I would have stood my ground and refuse to pay for the service yesterday. read more

Booked a last minute couple's massage for 90 minutes (which included reflexology). It was easy to find and a short flight of stairs up. We were immediately welcomed by staff, who had us check in via an iPad. FYI - the establishment accepts Zelle, Venmo (great touch!) and also have an ATM machine, but please check in advance of services if they accept debit/credit cards. I found the rooms and other common areas to be very clean and quiet. The masseuses were very polite and professional and I had the male masseuse who had strong hands I did not have to request more pressure and we did not feel rushed. I went here for a 40 min foot massage using a Groupon. I didn't feel very relaxed given: 1) Hygienic concerns - the masseuse was working on a customer seated next to me. I was soaking my feet while I waited to be assigned someone. When the customer seated next to me was finished I was moved to her seat. The problem was her seat was lined with a beach towel which was odd to begin with and because they did not change it out. How many people have laid there since the last time they changed it? They also covered me with another beach towel which didn't look new, probably the same one that they used on the previous customer. 2) While they were giving me a foot massage, another masseuse kept coming to talk to my masseuse. Happened 3-4 times which distracted him and made him stop the massage mid-sentence every time. I didn't feel like I was given the full 40 mins and I didn't feel relaxed leaving the spa. 3) You can also clearly hear other massages going on in the other rooms which didn't bother me but something to call out. read more

Can't beat the promo for 20 minutes free (total of 80 minutes!) for $45 if you arrive between 10:30 and 3:00. Was leaving Planet Fitness practically next door on Steinway when I saw the ad. How convenient that they're next to a gym! I've been here several times now and have received massages from Coco, Lili, and Linda. Each one is thorough and responsive to requests for more/less pressure as well as more focus on certain problem areas like back, neck, feet. I can't actually tell them apart by technique alone, which is a good thing because that means there's uniformity and you can't go wrong with any one. Other notable things: Ambience - You go up a flight of stairs (no elevator) and ring the bell. You walk into a large space that's been divided into a front desk, waiting area, bathroom (with a washing machine in the corner - gotta love the efficiency), and multiple "rooms" separated by dividers and curtains. You may hear snatches of convos or even the door bell during your massage, but most Asian massage places are laid out like this. You still get enough privacy. Overall, it's clean, inviting, and tastefully decorated. Covid guidelines - They spray the soles of your shoes with antibacterial solution as soon as you come in. They wear masks and ask that you do too, except when you're face down on the table. Payment - They accept cards, but tipping in cash is appreciated. I like how they're not pushy for tips (been to some places in California and Vegas where they watch you like a hawk as you pay and feel entitled to big tips). Each person seemed genuinely pleased and thankful for a cash tip. I happily tip $20-25 for 80 minutes of work. I'd love to see this relatively new place stay open and thriving! I've brought friends visiting from outside Astoria, and they agree this place is a must for R&R. read more

I got the 60 minute full body deep tissue massage with a 30 minute foot reflexology, hot stones, and fire cupping. My experience was horrible. The lady, whose name I don't know, had no technique and missed quite a few body parts including my thighs which I highlighted as a focus area. I had to repeatedly point out areas where I needed her to focus and she said okay and continued missing them. This wasn't a communication gap. I even showed her at one point how I wanted my feet massaged and she still did her own thing (digging her nails into my skin). She had no idea what she was doing. She would do one arm more than the other and completely missed on the hot stones. I will never be returning to this establishment. If anything, my body feels more stiff than relaxed and I am genuinely upset that I paid as much money as I did. read more

Eh. I've gone to my share of massage places before. This is specifically for their foot massages or reflexology. Most everyone was pleasant however they are not set up for foot massages at all. Their chairs do not recline so I was sitting at an awkward angle the whole time so my back started to hurt. It also didn't help that the masseuse did not do the massage well at all. I kept telling him in English and Chinese to please increase the pressure and he was so wimpy. When I go to get my feet worked on it's usually cuz they are aching and this usually helps. Nope this guy did not concentrate his fingers to any one spot so I feel like I was just getting a general rub down on my feet. It also didn't help that he asked if I'm pregnant and I had to tell the manager no so he could still do the massage. I get it's an Asian thing that they are afraid to do massages on pregnant women but I'm just a little rotund and sitting at an awkward cuz of the stiff back chair in the spa. It just made it more awkward and super weird. When it was all done I gave them my cash but then he made change and assumed I would give him the larger bill so he kept it. I was going to tip him that amount but it just added to the overall poor experience. I'm all about no frills- see my other reviews but this was not enjoyable at all. Only $45 per person for a full body massage that's over an hour is super affordable compared to other spas. The place isn't particularly new or updated, but it is definitely clean which I appreciated! I am a bit of a massage snob, and this was one of my favorite massages ever. She was thorough, strong but not too strong, and I really like the method. The scalp massage was insanely good and she really massaged out a kink I had in my neck, such a relief. In context I went to Aire spa a couple months ago and hated it. Nothing worse than an overpriced experience, and this place is quite the opposite. This was literally the worst massage I had in my life. It was horrible and very painful. I wanted to point out, I got the 70 minute massage (50mins body+ 20 mins foot) but they only gave me an hour massage. The masseuse didn't have any technique or a rhythm of doing the massage. Her massage was very random and done in the most haphazard manner. I kept asking her to go softer but she just kept saying ok but didn't do any better. Let me start of by saying, as I am writing this review, I literally could vomit thinking about my experience. I've gone to this spa a handful of times and the service has always been sufficient, however, as a woman, I will not be coming back here. The walls of the place are very thin and you can hear all of the activity within the spa. That said, this is the second time leaving the spa absolutely disgusted. I went in for a 60 min massage and it was completely ruined by the disgusting pig in the next room to me moaning and groaning while asking the masseuse for a blow job. Maybe it is my ignorance, but I didn't realize it was "that type of place". I wish I had known before I wasted my money and time in such a place. Great clean place , employees were very nice. Usually these massage places have a bad smell this one smelled very clean , the oil they use was very nice and not stinky like most other Asian spas. I had the opportunity for some impromptu self-care and decided to try and find an affordable place for a massage in my neighborhood. I wandered in here by chance as all of the surrounding places were busy. I didn't have high expectations especially because this place didn't have any reviews yet. I was impressed with the spaciousness and the professional and spa vibe of the place which is not so typical for some of the local hole in the wall type foot and body work places. The most pleasant surprise was the quality of the massage. Lili had a very pleasant demeanor and was very attentive. She noticed which spots needed the most work and had amazing strong hands and arms to really work out the kinks. She spent a lot of time working on my neck my head and my jaw which in my experience only get a cursory round at most massage places even when I ask them to spend a little bit more time there. She really took my feedback seriously and did an amazing job giving me a head massage, getting the base of my neck and my jaw and face muscles. She was as good, or better, than the higher-end local spa I go to for occasional treats. I'm so happy I found this place and will definitely be coming back to book with Lili. read more
