What I didn't like was that I had to eventually explain to the person doing my nails that when I made my appointment, I booked it for design. I think they kept pushing a bit saying 'if there was time' when I said I wanted a design. When I initially walked in for my appointment I said gel, & later clarified design. I then had to say I specifically booked for a design. I think it's kind of crazy that they didn't confirm my name or appointment time though when I walked in. Next, I noticed that my cuticle area was a little injured later on. I don't know that it was to the point of bleeding but there was a mark that looked like it had either been bruised or bleeding. My friend and I decided today would be a perfect day for a Mani/pedi so we looked up the closest salon to us. This has great reviews for the right price so we walked over here hoping we wouldn't have to wait too long for a Mani/pedi. We walked in and they were able to do my pedi immediately and my friend waited 15min for her Mani which isn't terrible because they were all taking care of clients at the time. Everyone is friendly here and pays attention to detail. I'd say I got a solid pedicure and my toes are happy. $28 for a pedicure, $17 for a Mani and $40 for a combo (not gel). I live in Champaign-Urbana (two hours south of Chicago) and have been trying to find a nail salon that will take the time to create little works of art on my nails. No one in Champaign-Urbana cares to do this, and I have been turned away more times than I can count. I had plans to drive up to Chicago to visit a friend over Labor Day weekend and decided I'd like to get my nails done too. After reading many reviews, I decided to call Zenails. When I spoke with Qui, the manager, and explained what I wanted, he was delighted to help me. He even gave me his personal phone number so I could text him pictures of what I wanted. Zenails was easy to locate and finding a parking spot was not an issue. Their business is clean, cheery, and welcoming. They strictly adhered to Covid guidelines, as well. When Qui realized that the design I wanted was more involved than he originally thought and would take much longer, he completed the gel extension full nail set during our scheduled time. (Side note: these nails are stronger, prettier even when unpainted, and MUCH healthier for your natural nails. I will never go back to acrylics!). He suggested I come back the next day to have my nails painted into little masterpieces when he had more time. I was happy to do so- I'd been waiting YEARS for this! When I came back the next day for part 2, I was so impressed with Qui's artistic skill and perfectionism. He painted EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED and even matched the color to my eyes! I couldn't be happier with how beautiful my nails turned out. I now have an excuse to visit my friend in Chicago every 3-4 weeks. I am a loyal customer to Zenails for life! read more

So far I've been twice, first time was for a regular mani so I didn't think it warranted a full review, but the next time I did the No Chip Gel mani. Both times I've visited its been so busy! I debated between 3 and 4 stars for Zenails. I came here a couple of years ago and got a wonderful no-chip manicure with one of the girls there. Fast forward few weeks ago, I came in with my friend for a mani-pedi. My manicurist was very nice and gentle, but he only put one color coat on my toe nails, whereas most other places put at least two coats. I realized a little too late while he was putting the topcoat, so didn't bother mentioning this to him. When it came time for the manicure, he did a much better job; however, it felt a bit rushed. My girlfriend got a manicure and ended up getting a small cut which she realized after we left the salon. The nice thing about Zenails is that it offers a loyalty reward card where you can get a free manicure or $14 dollars off a service after I think 6 services. There's also free parking in the area which is nice. The manicurists are all pretty quiet except for Qui, so hearing him talk loudly with his customer can be a little awkward, but I hear he's pretty good if you don't mind the small talk. read more

This was my first visit to Zenails and I chose it based on an overwhelming number of five star reviews. I was happy to call and make an appointment within 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon. There seemed to be a lot of regular customers, who were greeted by name when they walked in. My service was great: a quick polish change on my toes ($10) and new gel polish manicure ($32). Both nail techs were attentive, thorough, and didn't rush. I was offered a bottle of water after moving from the pedicure chair to the mani station. The manicure service was very detailed with multiple coats of clear and color polish (I had my hands in the dryer at least 6 different times) and it ended with a brief hand massage after the polish dried. I was very happy with the results, and content to know that if the gel polish chips within two weeks, I can come back and have it fixed free of charge! The space itself is obviously converted from a space that was not a salon before. It is tiny with makeshift spaces and open closets, but very clean. There are only five stations for pedicures and five for manicures, so I recommend making an appointment in advance. There are tons of gel and regular polish colors, plus you can request a design or unique pattern. Is this a five star experience? No. You'll likely listen to the 30 minute news cycle on the television instead of music or something more entertaining. But your nails will look great and you won't have spent a fortune. read more

On Friday I had a random half day off from work so I thought - let me quickly go somewhere for a pedicure. Well silly me - nobody has walk-in availability anymore, you really have to book in advance. I called 6 places (yes, 6) and nobody had time - BUT zenails said - we'll take your number and call if we have a cancellation. And they did just that! I went and not only did they have time for a pedi but I had also asked about a no-chip mani and they had an opening for that too. I had Trish do my nails - I'm someone who honestly paints her own nails but I'm pregnant and tired and I haven't done much of anything on my own for a while. I went in with minimal expectations but the place is nice and clean and my mani and pedi were great. My nails look great... so much so that I said to Trish, this may turn me into one of those women who gets her nails done on the regular! I'm having a baby in a little over a month and for now my plan is to at least sneak back here once more before that happens :) Trish was also great at suggesting a color. They have all kinds of no chip swatches but I basically said - I usually go for a pinky nude like Bubble Bath or something. She said - how about something similar with a little more color? My nails...have never looked more beautiful. I came in for a full set of acrylics, coffin shaped, and was not disappointed. My nail tech of 3 years moved out of state and I've been struggling desperately to find someone who does good work with ingrown toe nails. My search has came to a halt since discovering Zenails. They are warm and welcoming from the moment you come through the door. Practicing great hygiene, asking you to wash your hands immediately upon entering. Following that, they offer you a HUGE selection of colors to choose from. A bonus - if you have a design already decided and show them... they automatically know exactly what colors to grab because they are so familiar with their inventory! They will even go as far as mixing colors to create that special one for you! I was a walk-in this weekend and was so happy I did. I got acrylic nails with gel polish. I normally am not a fan because the nail techs are so rough, but Qui was amazing and checking with me the whole time that the shape, color, and feel of them was ok. I purposely got shorter nails and he made sure to check with me during each stage that they were what I wanted. He took his time and never rushed. Place was very clean and was well ventilated.
