    My experience at Zen Salon occurred on 03/09/2019. I bought a Groupon for a full foil highlight. I went into the salon on 03/06/2019 to schedule an appointment for highlights. Luckily, there had been a cancellation for the upcoming Saturday so I was able to get in pretty fast. Naturally my hair is dirty blonde but I color it nearly platinum. Upon arrival on the Saturday (03/09), my stylist Kelli (pronounced KEE-LEE) approached and I followed her back to her chair where I told her that I simply needed my highlights brought up to brighten up my roots. She looked at my hair for maybe 60secs, and said "Okay we can do that", and walked away. *NOTE: In no way am I attacking Kelli as an individual, rather, I am critiquing her professional skill level.* It concerned me slightly that she didn't seem to take much time looking through my hair to analyze the different tones and colors, but I assumed that Kelli was the expert. When she returned with the color, she began applying the color to my hair in a technique I've never seen before. Instead of weaving the highlights into small threads of hair, she was painting my roots in chunks. Further, she was not pulling the color through the entire strand of hair, just applying it to the roots in large chunks. Again, I thought to myself "Oh gosh, what is she doing?", but again disregarded and thought - "She's the expert, maybe it's a new technique I've never seen before". Because I was concerned, I asked Kelli how long she'd been working at Zen Salon - she responded 1 month. (Now I look back and realize how foolish it was that I didn't speak up at this point, but I was trying to give this stylist the benefit of the doubt). After she applied the color to my entire head, she let me process for approximately 20 minutes. She once came to check on the foils and said "You're not there yet, the color is nearly a match, just a few more minutes". At this point, I thought - "Phewf! I was being over-critical, she says my roots are nearly light again!" She led me over to the chair to wash my color out. This is the one positive I can say, she gave an amazing head massage. Once back in the chair, I noticed immediately that my concerns were validated. During blow-drying, when Kelli noticed herself that this was a botched job, she turned me away from the mirror until she finished drying me. Once dry, she said aloud to me "Well, that didn't turn out like I'd hoped" and then spun me around to review the results. As I was analyzing my hair, she began trying to tell me how "chemicals react differently in everyones hair." AND "next time I think we should try to add some low-lights." At this point, I couldn't even begin to understand what she was talking about - WHAT?! Low-Lights?! I'm platinum! I'm confident Kelli knew that this was a botched job- I mean, she said it herself when she commented about the result. Yet, she unbuttoned my gown and led me to the exit. I went immediately into the bathroom to snap a photo. Then, I decided to go home and see really how bad the results were after I styled it myself. Ultimately, I decided I needed to call and have this fixed, so I called on Monday 03/11 to speak with the manager. The poor receptionist who I spoke with (Kayla I think?) was made to play messenger for the entire phone call because the manager would not come to the phone. Kayla asked me if I could come in a few days later to have it fixed. When I told her that I'd like to make sure that the appointment would be scheduled with a more experienced stylist, preferably a stylist who has experience with blonde hair, she said "hang on" (as I sat waiting for her to relay the message to the manager). She came back to the phone "my manager says you have to have Kelli fix your hair and cannot have it fixed by another stylist unless you pay for a new appointment". So I said "Okay, at this point I'd really just like my money back because I'm not comfortable going back to a stylist who has no experience with blonde hair and my experience with her was not great." the receptionist says "hang on"....... after she comes back she says to me, "my manager says we don't offer refunds and if you want it fixed you have to pay for a new appointment". At this point, I was getting frustrated. FIRST: your employee completely botched my hair. SECOND: the manager refuses to come to the phone to speak with a disgruntled customer, THIRD: the manager is making the receptionist relay my conversation to her and still wont come to the phone, and FURTHER: now refuses to fix my hair or offer me a refund. I said to the receptionist, "I am sorry Kayla (name?) and I understand that this is not your fault, but neither of these options work for me and I'm really frustrated. I ask that your manager call me back when she's available." Today is 1 week after that phone call and I've never received a phone call. The entire experience was a complete disappointment. I would never recommend this salon to anyone.

    very unprofessional experience had found coupon on color and cut in mail. Had a the service done and the results we're nothing of what I asked for so I went back had service redone the same stylist, had no clue how to fix it so she asked another stylist what to do so we went over it again..... the results are still nothing to what I wanted and the color doesn't even look like the color we decided on to fix it! my highlights are bleeding and uneven non of the color is consistent..... they scan my number when I call hang up without answering! CHILDISH! went in to get a refund cause I wasn't happy and owner said no but she can do your hair again who in the right mind would let someone do their hair a 3rd time after 2 bad results........

    sheets covering the massage bed were very worn/dirty/full of makeup. YUK!!!

    Absolutely fucked my hair up. Didn't look like what I wanted. Just overall don't recommend.
