My favorite mediterranean food in Houston, and am lucky that it's on the north side. In my opinion, Zara's tastes better than many other popular contenders in the downtown/Memorial area. I am usually not crazy about mediterranean because I find it dry and dull but Zara's is not like that all! It's perfectly cooked, flavorful, and overall delicious. Definitely a gem! read more

Summary- Fantastic Mediterranean food in a cute little spot with good service. Food- 5 Stars It was all amazing and I am super picky about my greek food. The Baba, the tzatziki, the shawarma, the gyro meat, it was all amazing. There wasn't one thing that my husband I ordered that wasn't fantastic. Biggest problem- wish it was closer to home!! Service- 4 Stars Nice and fast. Value- 4 Stars Not super cheap but lots of awesome food. Atmosphere- 4 Stars They did a good job on the strip mall space. The benches they made are uncomfortable and cheesy though. read more

Been staying in Rayford Ridge for 7 years and I'll assure you that this is the BEST food of any type in the area..... Try anything, especially the chicken kabobs, and you want be disappointed. read more

Amazing!!! Easy to see why they have 5 stars. Food is fantastic and the service is even better :) We had the beef sambosas as an app. Entrees were the shawarma lover platter (beef and gyro...can get chicken) with hummus and feta salad for sides. Husband can't stand hummus but loves the hummus here!! I had lamb kebab last time...also great. Husband and kid are obsessed with the mint mojito (non-alcoholic)!! I stick to water at meals, but that mojito is pretty awesome. I got so carried away talking about the food, I almost forgot to emphasize the great service!!! The two guys working the front are an asset to any restaurant. They are genuinely friendly and always welcome you with a smile. Above that, they are very knowledgeable and passionate about the food. I always enjoy asking the staff for their favorite dish and hearing the honest enthusiasm about their favorite. Makes you excited to try it!! read more

Amazing Mediterranean food. Loved the ground beef samosas and the gyro plate. That was plenty to split between my wife and I!

Clean and calm space to cool down after long and busy day. Food is delicious. Its hard to choose from too many options, but its delicious

This place was really good for lunch. I had a gyro platter that came with two sides and my buddy had a falafel salad. The portions were huge and the service was excellent. I definitely will come back for lunch here! It seems intimate for a nice dinner spot too. Try it out! read more

My first visit. Got my food to go. Everything was hot and fresh. One of the very best Chicken Schwarma Pitas and side of grape leaves (Dolmathes) I've eaten. I will return! read more

Atmosphere: Clean and well maintained. Not too big, but the decorations look nice. Food: We had the lamb shank and kofta kabob wrap. Both were really delicious. Only thing not making this a 5 star place is the portions weren't very large, but good enough to keep you satisfied and not in a food coma. The lamb shank comes with 2 sides of your choice so it's a little more pricy, but you can always go for the cheaper wrap options if you're not starving. Also purchased the lemon mint mojito (non-alcoholic). It's rather tasty. Service was great and the waiters were really nice. read more

Since I have good friends that are South Asian, I know good curry is suppose to taste like. Zara's hands down has the best Indian food. I ordered the shrimp current to be delivered and my food arrived HOT and spicy, which I love. The shrimp was fresh, not frozen. This place is a GEM. read more

Their falafel platter was to die for! And huge! I have eaten it for 3 meals! Lol would not recommend their mango juice though but that was minor. The restaurant itself was Beautiful! The vibes were immaculate. Service was great, fast and attentive. read more

I don't often have negative reviews. My experience was not great. I ordered kibbeh, schwarma, and a fatoush salad. Some 20 minutes later I got most of my order right but not completely right. That took another 5-7 minutes to correct it. Once I started eating, the menu items just didn't live up to my expectations of the flavors I'm accustomed to. On the other negative side I had to bat a couple of flies away while I ate. Any restaurant can have an off night. The servers really tried to take care of me so I'm inclined to believe I just hit this place on an off night. read more

Such an easy & moderately healthy food option! The staff always wears their masks properly, and the food is consistent. I love their chicken shawarma & veggie samosas :) read more

The food is delicious. I had the beef and chicken kabob plate. The chicken was flavorful and the beef was tender. The garlic sauce was perfectly balanced between garlic flavor and creamy texture. I highly recommend this restaurant and will come back. read more

Zara's is hands down my favorite restaurant. Serving the most delicious homemade Mediterranean meals. This family owned business has lots to offer in terms of delicious food and drinks. My go to meal is the Zara's mixed grill which includes four different types of meats, two yummy sides and also two sauces one of which is my favorite (garlic sauce). Also the Zara tea is a must. read more

I've been coming here regularly for about 3 months, ever since my friend brought me here. The food is great, the place is clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Two weeks ago though, my wife and I was charged for our friends and vice versa. When we noticed they refunded us and charged us correctly. But the first charge never went away. Very frustrating. A week and a half later I came back to the restaurant and talked to the person in charge. She was so unbelievably nice, I was taken aback. She immediately resolved the issue. If I hadn't just eaten I would have gotten a table and used the refund to buy more food. This is the kind of customer service that makes you remember a place and want to tell everyone. PS Get the shawarma. You won't regret it. read more

Food is average and despite my love of local places like this, I can't stand it when they nickel and dime you. I picked up an order and asked for hot sauce, which they wanted to charge me for. Imagine McDonald's charging for ketchup. Imagine a pho spot charging for sirarcha or a Mexican spot charging for salsa. Never coming back with so many other businesses needing my business. read more

The food is excellent...the service, not so much. We were at our table for a solid 15 minutes before anyone brought us a menu. It took another 15 for our drinks to arrive. We ordered an appetizer of halloumi cheese, which never appeared. Finally, after another 15 minutes, our meal appeared. We then reminded the server about the halloumi, which evoked a confused expression. After a few minutes, our appetizer finally appeared...cold and inedible from waiting on a kitchen counter for probably 20 minutes. Did I mention that in a dining room with 12-15 full tables, there was ONE server on duty? He was doing his best, but his bosses sure set him up to fail leaving him as the only person to manage every table. At the end of our meal, the owner/manager appeared, wheeling a cart that appeared to be a large catering order. Perhaps that was the culprit for the failures in their table service. Either way, this was our last visit to Zara's. Decent food can't make up for poor service or a poorly-run restaurant. read more

This hidden gem is full of fresh Mediterranean food. With quick, friendly service, I had some of the best falafel I've ever tasted. Steam can be seen rising off the dishes coming out of the kitchen, the pita bread is soft and fresh, and the hummus tastes amazing. Along with friendly staff, the restaurant is full of bright, warm colors and was an awesome place to have dinner. It's sure to become one of our regular spots. read more

There is a reason why this restaurant has all 5 star reviews. It does not disappoints. As soon as you walk in you are transported to another world. The decor of the restaurant just sets the stage for an amazing meal experience. We ordered the basil pesto hummus with warm pita bread to start off. Really fresh and delicious. For entree we had the salmon and the kebab plate. Can't go wrong with this restaurant. read more

This place is awesome and the food is great. This is my go to food place in this area when I am craving for Mediterranean food. I have only had their wraps and their hummus sampler so far. I have not tried their other entrees but so far it's been good and consistent. The customer service is acceptable but I go to this place for the food mostly. I just discovered that you can order from Yelp takeout so that's good. The place is clean and they have their own parking lot so parking is not an issue. Overall, I recommend this place. read more

Ive been very negligent in posting this update. I was invited back and had a great experience. The food was as great as ever and the service was much improved. Food and service is excellent!!! I love their menus variety and it's super tasty. It never disappoints.

My husband and I love Mediterranean food, especially from Zara's! We went this week and were one of two couples sitting in the restaurant. There was one waitress working very hard to care for us as well as the many carry out orders. The space was clean and we felt comfortable. We ordered lamb and chicken skewers and they were incredible. Very flavorful and cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Mediterranean hummus and the spinach filled puff pastry (I forgot the name) and they were wonderful. The pricing is always right and the food was better than we remembered! We highly recommend Zara's. read more

Went to Zara's for the first time after moving to Houston all the way from New York! Let me say, everything about this restaurant was excellent. It was clean, beautifully decorated, and the service was amazing. I especially liked the fact that there was a prayer area in the corner, which was extremely convenient for someone like me. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Can't wait to go back over and over again! read more

I came there last night with my daughter for take out. There weren't more than five people in the whole restaurant, so it wasn't busy. I ordered standard Med fare. I'm used to cooking this myself so I know what to expect. I ordered the cheese, Lamb kababs, and some rice, baklava and the hummus platter. The order taker said it would be 25 minutes before it would be ready and offered to bring it to our car. He forgot. It was hot in the store so we sat outside and waited. The men in the restaurant were eating and staring at us out the window. No one came out with our order . So, we just went in and got it ourselves after 40 min. The goat cheese and yogurt was missing the walnuts. It was too close to closing time to go back and ask for the missing hummus platter that I paid for and wasn't given. $60.00 for poor service and missing food. Lesson learned. I can say the food was hot, at least. read more

This place truly reminded me of when I lived in Istanbul Turkey. Their food had a VERY authentic taste, everything came out extremely fresh. I absolutely loved their rice and lamb with Tzatziki sauce. The Greek spanikopita was also fresh and HOT! I finished off the Turkish way with a little cup of Turkish coffee. Their interior design is exactly like something you would see while in Istanbul. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here as well as the meal. read more
