I was in the store on Saturday March 18, and it was appalling. The line for returns was so long because the women behind the register need a code from a manager to process a return, and the manager was no where to be found, even though they have an entire line designated for returns. Why isn't the manager just working the return register? You could tell the women behind the registers were overworked and exhausted because it was palpable. She two women closest to me were all too ready to share their frustrations with me that they only were given one shirt to wear and told to do their laundry every night. No one would be so willing to share these frustrations with a customer if there wasn't something even worse happening behind closed doors. As a retail supervisor myself, I could tell these people were not treated properly. They were super kind and friendly but absolutely worn through. She had to ask for a manager 3 times and when she finally came by, the manager ignored her, helped another employee and tried to walk away, the woman at the next register said "she needs your code" and the manger rolled her eyes, scoffed, and said "just one item." And literally turned on her heals and walked away. I was gobsmacked at her treating her employee so disrespectfully for simply asking for the necessary code to do her job. I then chose to speak to that manager to tell her I didn't appreciate that tone. And she scoffed again at me and rudely said "ok, we'll have a nice day" with a condescending attitude. I didn't get her name. But I would be embarrassed to employ her, and would absolutely report her behavior to HR if she was my supervisor. Obviously SHE will be the most likely person to read this review, but everyone who works there should know, you don't deserve or need to take that behavior. Customers, shop somewhere else. I love Zara clothing. I mostly buy online for my children however I decided to shop the Glendale store this time around and what a mistake that was. BEWARE! DO NOT shop at this location. This Zara sales person is the most disrespectful and rude person I have ever met in all Zara stores. I understand that Zara sales associates deal with mean customers pretty often but I was very polite from the very beginning and I was mistreated by this young woman who apparently was not raised the right way. I had an item for purchase and another item for return, she RUDELY said she wouldn't accept my return and I would have to do the "return line" after my purchase, I told her I didn't know and kindly asked if she could please make an exemption since I was returning only "1" item, she agreed but gave me an attitude and spoke to me in a very disrespectful way that even when I would try to say something to explain myself she would interrupt me, she would raise her voice and would cut me off when I was talking. She even started tapping her nails loudly on the computer screen while I was looking for my receipt..such a childish behavior. She would sarcastically laugh at you. This 5 star review is solely because of Jessica. This is probably the third time she's been able to help me with an issue , that I've been turned away by other associates. She's always so polite , greets you with a smile , and does her best to assist you with your needs. I personally think she needs to be consider as a store manager or giving some form of leadership to help the store meet the expectations customers and company are seeking. I have had similar experiences to the ones others have mentioned but anytime Jessica or Nancy are there I have no complaints. Even if there's an issue they can't resolve they've taking the time to point me in the right direction to get it resolved or provide alternative options. Some of you might of had unpleasant experiences but think of this location as the family function you dread going to but you're favorite aunt and cousin you enjoy will be there. Here are some pointers to help you have a better shopping experience When needed to look for any item , before running to the nearest associate and saying "hey do you have this" . Try " Hello, How are you ? ... or Hi , sorry to interrupt may I get some assistance then ask your question... "I'd like to ask if you could help me locate an item ? " ( some might have a device to do so), "Do you know who might be able to help me with" ( whatever your concern is ) but be mindful how you approach someone we are all human. Zara stole my money! I purchased 7 items from Zara Glendale CA store on January 18th 2021. When I back home I realized the cashier only packed 6 items in my shopping bag. I contacted Zara Care right away. Zara care said they couldn't help because that was not an online order, they asked me to go to Glendale Zara store to ask a manager to help. I live 50 miles away from Glendale. On Jan 28th 2021, I made my trip to Glendale Zara store. The manager Janet was so rude from beginning to the end. She asked me to contact Zara Care, because she couldn't help. Zara Care and manager Janet played the soccer game on me. No one wanted to help with it. By far the dirtiest Zara I have ever been into. Regardless of time of day ( the store could just be opening of 5pm) it always looks like they just got ransacked by an angry mob. There is an older Hispanic man with gray hair on the sides who is the rudest employee I've ever encountered. He was working the afternoon on 1/6. I waited in the line for 20 minutes when another employee mentioned the self checkout lane. There were no customers or employees there so I went to it. He came over and super aggressively told me I have to get back in the line to wait for self checkout. They hadn't taken a single customer to self checkout. When I explained to him that I had been in line he interrupted me and said "well that doesn't effect me" and kept barking at me to get in line. Super offensive and I won't be coming back here. So I have tried to return it and did contact their return online and gave me an email and returned but with no address on it the USPS won't accept it ! Zaras reviews, clothes, and lack of unprofessionalism is going down. The line is longer for returns than people purchasing. Anyway i bought a dress because i had a last minute event, I took off the tag at home while rushing to go to a event and never ended up fitting on me so i wore something else next day i called customer service they said i can return the dress WITHOUT the tag attached. I tried returning the dress the cashier was giving me a hard time saying the tag is unattached i said i already called customer service they said its ok to return it, she did not know what to say next thing she said its worn. Uh? Anything to not return the dress and their return sales percentage not to go down. At this point i get so furious and dont want to deal with these rude employees! I filed a complaint on the store through their customer service. Zara seems to not give a crap about their customer service they think its a busy store and will get customers anyway but they dont know Zara value and lack of customer service is going down hill. They do not gift store credit. Only exchanges. The worker kept saying you only can return within 30 days. The item was purchased 12/16/23 and the attempted return was 1/8/24. "Well you can't get credit, you can only do an exchange." Telling me this after waiting 30 minutes in line. I messaged customer service. They asked me for my full name, address, phone number, email address and copy of receipt. After providing this, the response was, yeah sorry each store can do what they want. Huge Zara! Wonderful casual selections. They have a mega sale going on right now i would highly recommend you visit if you are looking to get some staples for the seasons to come. I went in today to exchange a gift i received, i unfortunately found out i couldn't exchange it or get store credit because they didn't offer the same item in the size i needed. For this reason i deducted 2 stars. The gentleman at the register was kind but Zara's policies for exchanges and returns are very strict. A little humanity can go a long way! Especially considering i couldn't exchange earlier because i got covid. Given that there's a wee little catastrophic pandemic going on some flexibility for exchanges and returns should be warranted. One last thing that was totally SUCKY, i called the store a handful of times because i was hoping to avoid crowds... NO ONE ANSWERED. LIKE EVER! I even called the Hollywood store and i was on hold for an unreasonable time. I stood in line to get in, stood in line to try to exchange ONLY to hear that my gift was pretty much null. The cashier snapped at my child for putting her foot up on a ledge to adjust her shoe while another child dropped milk all over a display and she didn't bat an eye. Not too bad, not too great quality clothes. This is fast fashion, a little nicer than Forever 21 and H&M. Most of the items are pretty cheap-looking and feeling, but if you look carefully there are a few nice pieces like coats and jackets that may last you several years. The line is literally out the door and the manager claims " I can't just put anyone on the register." He has at least 6 people working on the sales floor but only 2 registers open. I'm only giving 1 star because I can't give a negative number, my experience in this particular Zara location was beyond horrible, I went in to get an item and was waiting at the register to receive help on finding out how many were in stock as I needed to purchase a large amount of this item. I stood there as employees were conversing right next to me in the men's fitting room, totally ignoring me, I then asked one of the employees for help and he stated he was off the clock and turned his back to me and continued conversing with another male employee showing him his phone, a young lady walks up and briefly tells another gentleman walking up for help that the register is closed, she continues walking to the men's fitting room and I ask if anyone can help me and the young lady and the guy in the fitting room said no we can't help you have to go to the women's register when all I needed was an item lookup, I then go to the women's area and find an employee on the floor, I asked if they have a particular item in stock and she seemed extremely confused stating I would need to check in the men's department, I explained that I just came from there and they turned me away, the employee then consults with another women employee, she enters the item code and advises they have 2 in stock in the back and I will need to collect them in the men's department, my boyfriend and I explained the rude service that we received in the men's department and the female employee walked us over only to find the men's register now open with a line, this caused me to feel extremely agitated as it was only minutes before I walked to the women's section. If the young lady was going to soon open her register I'm not sure why she couldn't have said I'm going to open shortly and will be more than happy to assist you, or even she wasn't going to open soon she could've called for help on the walkie talkie instead of completely turning us away. We talked to the young woman asking why she turned us away if she was just going to open her register moments after her only reply is "I was on break and my register was closed", she expressed it in the rudest manner with no care that we were upset, my boyfriend asked for her name as he was going to contact customer service to report the rude service and she replies, "I don't care I will gladly provide you with my name" The women employee then requested the guy in the fitting room to assist us with getting the items, the same guy who turned us away, she then tells us the employees are protected and they cannot provide us with their names apologizes for the situation in a nonchalant manner and walks away. A manager then came out to assess the situation but did not provide any real help as we explained what happened and how the employee didn't even apologize but continued to speak to us in a disrespectful manner, to make matters worse the manager apologizes and has us get in line to purchase our items with the same employee we just had an issue with. As we are already frustrated, the tension is high when we finally approach the register to purchase our items with the young lady employee, she rings up our items not saying a word, my boyfriend advises her actions were not acceptable and that she should always provide good customer service as she being an employee of Zara represents Zara's brand. As she is handing us our change she then makes a sarcastic remark and calls for her supervisor claiming we were being rude to her, it was so funny to watch her contact help on her walkie talkie at that specific moment but could not do it before when we originally needed help, I collected our change and walked out of the store furiously, I will never shop at this Zara again! in fact it makes me not even want to shop at Zara at all given this horrible customer experience, I also will not recommend anyone to shop here****UPDATE******THE USERS WHO FOUND THIS REVIEW FUNNY ARE EMPLOYEES OF ZARA, IN FACT PATSY P. While the purchasing line at Zara is quite slow, I'd rate it a 1/5, I had a great experience thanks to an amazing worker named Ryan in the Men's department. He's always been super helpful and kind every time I pick up my online orders. He's extremely knowledgeable about the products and always presents better options if available. Unlike other Zara workers who can come across as cold or complain about their jobs, Ryan is always positive and professional, yet takes the time to ask how you're doing. I've had 3 instances where cashiers are talking about how much they can't stand the customers and can't wait to leave right in front of you at the cash register as they scan your items. I understand but it's also uncomfortable and awkward to stand there and listen about the burden you customers are to them? It's clear that he truly cares about providing excellent customer service. Zara should definitely hire more employees like Ryan who understand the importance of putting customers first. I'm usually not the type to write reviews for clothing stores, but Ryan's exceptional service deserves recognition. read more
