Pad Thai w Shrimp

My wife and I had dinner here this past weekend. The restaurant setting is nice. Nothing too fancy but they tried to spruce it up a bit to feel more ethnic, and the restaurant was very clean. The service was very good. They don't have their alcohol license yet so BYOB. Overall, the food was generally good. We had: Tsunami (4/5) - A soup that was sort of like Tom Yum but creamier. Bit portion and lots of seafood in it. Chicken Wrapped (2.5/5) - This was the only miss. The flavor was okay but so salty! Pad Thai (4/5) - Good flavors but the noodles were a bit overcooked. Thai Basil Beef (3.5/5) - Okay flavors. Beef was cut into strips but a bit too big. The sauce tasted a bit too much like soy sauce. Overall, a good meal.

The food was delicious! Good portion as you can see. I ordered it max spicy and it did pack a punch I added chili oil and a chili sauce to it and it was even better. The beef +$2 was very tender. The waitress was very nice and brought out some extra peanuts and I loved the decor.

Don't sleep on the Houston Restaurant week deal! Best value at $39. Most restaurants give you cheap, mediocre foods to try. Zaab Der did an amazing job with their selections. Prix fixe menu really showcases their uniqueness with amazing quality. Sizes were ample. Softshell crab appetizer was cooked perfectly. Tried the Tiger Cry and Kao Soy (Short Rib with curry pasta) both were perfectly cooked and delicious. Ordered a side of sticky rice to go with the Tiger Cry. Recommend bringing a friend to share dishes. The Mango mousse Dome was nice. Ube cheesecake was OK. But the coconut ice cream was perfect. This is a restaurant you would pay full price for and definitely keep coming back. Outside of the shopping center is nothing fancy. They spend the money creating great quality food.

Amazing service, amazing food, and amazing atmosphere! The "hot" option was very spicy (not too much, but not mild-- just perfect)!

I was craving for some Thai food and this place popped up on recommended, but what drove me here was the interior atmosphere and then the food makes me wonder why it wasn't busy on a Saturday night? If you are looking for a fancy Thai dinner date, this place is perfect! I tried a variety of appetizers, the crab cake is made of real meat so it's tender yet firm, got a taste of the sea in my mouth. The sausage is definitely made in house by looking at the shape and the refreshing seasoning, it's not so sour compared to other places that I've tried. And they bursts juiciness every bite so careful on first bite. Tom yum soup was fragrantly spiced, very hearty to drink on a cold day. Lastly, the duck curry was very delicious too. Crispy skin with the chewy meat, nicely flavored and not dry to eat. The curry is sweet and tangy, not too heavy to eat. Service was fast and they are very friendly. Eve though I was dining alone, they still checked up on me multiple times and making sure food tasted well for me. I would highly recommend here for a casual yet fancier Asian dinner date. The parking lot may look like need some upgrading but the interior is really nice I promise.

I'll keep it quick: - Tom Kha: Delicious. I will have to restrain myself to not order it next time - Drunken Noodles: Best in the area? - Red curry: Better than the green - Green curry: So-so. The ambiance is nice, and I love that they are open relatively late to the other restaurants on this part of Memorial Drive. They only have one waiter working at lunch time, which got EXTREMELY busy. He had his hands full, and we waited 20 mins for the check. Nice guy, but he couldn't talk long! The gratuity was automatically included on the check. I'm not sure that the waiter keeps the tip.

I ordered a chicken pad see ew for takeout. It was pretty standard. I think it could've been a bit more saucy and flavorful. I like mine to have a nice spicy kick. The chicken was regular old white meat. The portion was an okay amount for the price I paid. The inside of the restaurant has nice decor, so I think it'd be a cute date night spot.

Always great food!! Has been my go to for Thai in the far west Memorial area. All the dish I've had are nothing short of excellent. Green Curry is my favorite, with Massaman coming in with a close second. Spring rolls with shrimp were as good as any I've had at the Vietnamese restaurants. The Green Pipaya Salad is outstanding and "hot". I suggest you stay away from "Thai Hot" at Zaab Der, it's VERY hot, enough to kill your taste buds for the evening.

Planning a trip to Thailand and HRWeeks? You gather the team and head here. We stuck to the dinner menu and experienced a wealth of options with appetizers ranging from chive cakes (oh my) to crab dumplings there was plenty to enjoy. Our mains involved tender steak and slow cooked braised beef over some zingy egg noodles that filled the stomach and the soul. Even dessert was delicious and stunning with the lemon cake taking a backseat to the mango mouse in a chocolate globe. This was an outstanding HRW find.

We ate here for lunch. We ordered chicken tom kha, Panang curry chicken, and crab fried rice. I really liked the rice because they have big lumps of crabmeat. Their place is small but decorative. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We definitely will come back to try their other menu items.

Love this place! We come here almost every Sunday after church lol. We love the Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice

Great food at reasonable price! The atmosphere is also really nice and good vibes all around. You can also customize your spiciness here. The waiter/waitress are nice too. Check out the pictures of me and my wife's meal.

Drunken noodles

Ordered the drunken noodles. Came with a large patty of 8 on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was pretty empty. Plenty of parking and dark ambient lighting. Food was pretty good. Would consider coming again if I wanted Thai and I was in the area.

The dining area is pretty small, with around 10 tables, but it was surprisingly busy with so many people coming in to eat. It gave me that hidden-gem kind of feeling, like a local spot that people know is really good. The food was honestly delicious and tasted quite authentic compared to other Thai restaurants I've tried. Everything was flavorful and well-seasoned, and our food came out surprisingly fast. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a little hidden gem that I'm happy to have found near my home. I'll definitely be coming back!

Khao soi gai: 7/10 This was so flavorful and delicious but definitely should have opted for the chicken instead of the soft shell crab I wasn't really a fan of the crab. Love the flavors and textures though. Definitely want to try with chicken and I recommend getting some rice on the side. Pad mama: 9/10 This had a really yummy vibrant flavor with a good amount of protein and leafy greens. Could be spicier I think the just gave us a random spice level. Overall really yummy and good portion for the prices but would love to retry with more spice in the dishes.

I can confidently say that I was disappointed. There was not one dish that stood out or that I would recommend or come back for. I especially was sad that the crying tiger flavors really missed the mark. The sticky rice that came with it felt like it was reheated and some parts were hard. It also tasted like some of the vegetables (green beans and carrots) that come with the entrees were frozen, not fresh. The jasmine green tea tastes like a powder mix. Some of the squid tasted freezer burned. The kua kling was the most interesting and unique of the dishes, but not one that I would go out of my way to eat again. The sticky rice with mango was as expected. The coconut ice cream is probably pre-portioned and frozen so was rock solid when it came out. I did not find most of the toppings particularly good. It was a busy Friday and I know service was busy. The food did not take long to come out, but we definitely had dishes from previous courses that stacked up, and we had to ask them to be taken away. They do have a high chair for toddlers and brought a plastic plate/utensils, but there was not a changing table in the bathroom we used. We have had such great experiences at other Thai restaurants in Houston that I would not come back.

It could easily reach that level. Our waitress, Ann, was incredibly kind, soft spoken, and welcoming. My friend Sherita suggested this restaurant after we left a Yelp office hour, and I'm so glad she did because it introduced me to something I never knew I needed: the salmon mango fried rice. It was absolutely amazing. I originally planned to take some home for my son to try, but it was so delicious that I finished every bite in one sitting. Sherita had visited earlier in the week and tonight shared that she arrived; right before I walked in which was 30 minutes before closing time, Jackie told her to hurry up and order, even though she already knew exactly what she wanted and didn't even need a menu. Jackie response was unprofessional and didn't even wait till the table guest got to the table, which was less than seconds since we all arrive at the same time, and left the same place. During our visit, Jackie never brought us water. A couple who was seated after us received water before we did. It took over 10 minutes for us to get water. Ann took great care of us, but anytime we wanted a refill, we had to ask. At one point my glass was completely empty. I noticed Jackie refilling the water glasses for a table of six, so I managed to get his attention. He looked directly at me, scanned the room, then stomped away all fast without acknowledging my request. Instead, he told Ann that we wanted water, and she graciously brought it over. Even at the end of our meal, Jackie stood behind the register while my friends waited to pay, yet another employee ended up taking their payment. His overall energy felt very cold and unwelcoming. My friend even joked that it was probably for the best that he didn't refill my water because of the energy he was carrying. As someone who believes water absorbs energy, I honestly agreed. I'm grateful Ann was the one who served us with such kindness. The restaurant itself has such a peaceful, zen atmosphere. The greenery outside and the warm lighting inside create a cozy neighborhood spot that I truly want to love and revisit with my son. Thank you , Sherita for introducing me and Aaliyah to this hidden gem. I completely understand why you visited twice in one week. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu, and hopefully next time the hospitality matches the quality of the food.
