We absolutely love this place - the quality and quantity of food for the price cannot be beat, so nice to have a reasonably priced restaurant in our community! I did have a less than great experience today however - we went in around 8am and saw people at tables dining, however a hostess was not at the front so we waited a couple minutes and then went to go sit at the bar but there was no bartender or server to be seen. We were a little frustrated not being greeted or receiving service so we just walked out. We will be back to try again of course because this place is so wonderful but would love to have someone greet us and serve us food next time. read more

I've come here quite a few times and the food is always of great quality, excellent job to the staff who prepares it. Prices are also great. However, the service is always really disappointing. I went to grab lunch with a friend and, first of all, when we got there, we weren't asked if we wanted to be seated inside or outside, even though the hostess asked the couple in front of us for their preference. Second, we weren't even halfway done with our food when we were getting the check, mind you it was not busy at all so I'm not sure what the rush was. And lastly, our server was rushing us to sign the check; she said, and verbatim, "can you just sign? Sorry I have to clock out soon." I get it and I empathize with you, but that's impolite and unprofessional and that's not something that we as customers should be worried about. If this is an issue, then you need to work with your coworkers to figure out a hand off system, but please don't make this an uncomfortable experience for us just because you need to "clock out." read more

Nice place. Large room, indoor and outdoor seating. Park and walk in. My wife knew about it but it was a bit difficult to see from the road. Food came out fast. I ordered the Portuguese Sausage (with onions) and eggs with rice and she got the corn beef hash, hash browns and eggs. I added a side of loco moco gravy and it was delicious. Not overly salty but something to savor. Service was excellent. Rose, our server, was friendly and ever present. Portions were large. We couldn't finish our meals. We plan to come again when we visit Fallbrook later this month! It was a Sunday morning (9:25) and we sat right away. By the time we left (10:25), the place was packed. Today, I went for breakfast but it was afternoon by the time I got there so I ordered lunch instead. They do however serve breakfast until 3 pm. I ordered the house salad and the California Roast beef sandwich with fries. The salad is spring mix lettuce with cranberries, walnuts, Julianned red delicious apples and bleu cheese crumbles. With a light raspberry vinaigrette. Unless want just the salad, don't order a whole one cause it's huge!. The sandwich was made with thinly shaved roast beef, piled high, with roasted ortega chili and Swiss cheese all on toasted sour dough bread. As always everything was 5 star , and the service is always epic from the host and hostess to the wait and bar staff. Great job Z Cafe still rating those five stars. read more

Honestly it was not worth the drive for me. It's just ok, the food was alright, it's a pretty busy place. We asked to cook the patty melt very well done, but was still slightly pink in the middle and the cheese was not even melted all the way, so that went to waste, don't like sending food back. The art downstairs and on the way up the staircase that leads to the restaurant is really nice, other than that I won't be taking that drive up anytime soon only if in the area I would stop by. read more

I was really hungry so took the first available. It was a 2 seater table positioned between the kitchen and another hallway. What a horrible place for a table. In essence, I FELT INVISIBLE. I wasn't greeted by a server for a good 10 minutes. I was not offered water. I got a cup of coffee that was never refilled. I was obviously done eating and wanted to take my leftovers home. I waited way too long for the containers. Then I waited for the bill. I will go back and give the service another try. If they do better I'll amend this review. Still great food, great service staff. However, be advised: 1) Using a credit card, you'll get dinged 3% on the grand total, including tax. I've never seen a posted sign (they say exists) or a mention on the menu of this. The interesting thing is: they are random in assessing this charge over many visits, according to receipts I have. 2) Make a special request and your server will say: "sure, no problem," but they won't tell you they're going to surcharge you nearly 25% of your entree cost for a nearly imperceptible addition. I found this to be unethical and unforgivable, but management there didn't necessarily agree with my argument in their response to my email about their lapses. As such, these things give me some pause with respect to recommending this establishment--as I've often done in the past-- to others going forward. Caveat emptor! read more

This has been one of our favorite restaurants in Southern California. I went here yesterday with my daughter and son in law and I wasn't disappointed. Went to the Z Cafe for mom in law's birthday. Here is our review: 1. I ordered the Hawaiian Plate Special (comes with grilled teriyaki chicken, steak, rice, macaroni salad, and choice of soup/salad). I also ordered two hand rolls. My food was delicious! Best hand rolls I've ever had! I chose a side salad with my special, the Asian dressing is delicious! 2. My husband had Rainbow Rolls, he loved them! And, a French Dip Sandwich. The French Dip was not as great, the meat is cut super thick. 3. My in laws both ordered burgers. My mom in law requested a gluten free bun, they were able to provide this. My dad in law burger came on a large French roll, no hamburger bun! The burgers were a bit too thick and the French roll was difficult to cut through. My in laws are in their late 60's and 70's, but in any case, these burgers are massive! This place is kind of tucked away at the top of the parking lot. Really glad we found it - staying nearby and not a ton of options within 10 miles of where we were. The inside is beautiful with high ceilings plants art and a bar. The outside deck is also beautiful was just a bit too chilly in the morning but I did see heat lamps. The service was decent - the staff is definitely busy even on a random weekday. We did get seated right away though. Food was good. Z cafe is the perfect location between Temecula and north county SD. I've had many dates here and the ambiance is perfect for conversation. There is a wide range of food choices and everything I've had has been delicious. There is indoor seating which is cute and the ceilings are lined with fans. There is an outdoor patio area upstairs which is nice if you prefer to be outdoors. It is covered and shaded and usually has a nice breeze. On cold evenings they have heaters going. I wish they had a full bar. They only serve wine and beer so if you're a cocktail person you may want to reconsider. All in all I recommend Z Cafe! read more
