Stopped here in between meetings, the cafe looks like an old school diner. Seating was quick, I was able to choose where I sat and service was impeccable, they were all very friendly. We drove out to Fallbrook to go to one of our favorite restaurants and were disappointed when we found it closed. So we tried Fallbrook Cafe. We were hesitant seeing the parking lot was close to empty. I mean how good can it be with an empty parking lot. Definitely a diner atmosphere with a wide variety to choose from. I had the hobo omelette and my wife had a grilled chicken mozzarella and mushroom sandwich. Bread grilled with parmigian. We recommend both. Ample portions at fair prices. Stopped in here for lunch when just getting into town and had a good meal. It's your basic, no frills diner. I had a two egg breakfast with a ham steak, which was really good. Normally, it's pretty hard to mess up breakfast, but the ham steak was really good - nice grilled flavor. My wife just had a grilled cheese. Obviously, not gourmet dining, but again, it's a cafe. The price increases are just ridiculous, most especially the drinks. The basic fountain drinks or iced tea is $5.00. Milk or orange juice is almost $7.00. For 2 or three people, this adds a minimum of $10-$20 to your bill, let alone the food cost. Two sandwiches and two iced teas for lunch was a bill of over $50.00. Went again and ate breakfast with 3 people and the bill was $79.00. Since you've already increased your food prices, adding an additional increase to the drinks feels like really gouging the customer. I would just order water and not pay for the over priced drink, but your water has a terrible taste so that's not an option. Do better for the community and people who support you and lower your drink prices. read more

Haven't been here for twenty years, but stopped for dinner last night. I ordered a French Dip Sandwich and my husband had the Meatloaf dinner which included a side salad, scoop of ice cream for dessert. We enjoyed our dinner, but pleasantly surprised how clean the restaurant was from spotless clean windows, clean tables, and wiped down each menu before giving to patrons. No fluff, just what happened today: my husband and I came to this place after a lady recommended it on Camp Pendleton. I am black, my husband is Latino. We walked in and the place was almost dead. A woman tells us to take a booth anywhere near the back--I quickly wonder why because I see 3 free booths right there, 2 of which are clean, but still we just head to the back. A server who seems to be working register comes the moment we sit down and asks "what can I get you to drink?" even though we have no menu, don't know what they have, and I just say "I'll take water for now" but changed it to lemonade once I knew they had it. About 5-10 mins later, my husband and I see this awesome pickup truck park in the space next to our car through the window. A young white couple gets out and comes in. The same lady that directed us to the back 10 minutes ago sits them right at the front with the few other customers that are there. The other lady quickly comes to their table and asks for their drinks; by now we've been ready to order for like 10 mins but not her, the lady who told us where to sit, or the other server just walking around came to ask us anything. The final straw... I saw the same server that was taking drink orders walk over to the young white couple and take their order even though we've been clearly ready, menus closed for almost 15 minutes by now and there for about 10 mins before this couple. Once I saw that, I put my drink down, told my husband "let's go" and we walked right past her and right outta the place--no I didn't pay for those damn lemonades. I can usually tell a good restaurant by its signature dish. For example, when I eat Italian, I always order the lasagna first. If they can't cook that dish, I never go back. I was in a Mexican food mood, so I there's something very easy to make; a bacon, ham and sausage burrito, with cheese and potatoes.
