2pc oysters
Klariza F.

Pretty decent sushi restaurant. I wasn't hoping for much at this place, but it's actually good. The taste of the fish & oysters was good enough for me. The service was good, but I wished they didn't ask me so frequently if I needed anything. It was hard to relax and enjoy the food when they kept asking me. It just made me feel like they were trying to kick me out. I eat pretty slow and I don't want to over eat which is what ended up happening. I almost threw up. I probably shouldn't have bought that last roll. I liked the toro hand roll and the oysters the best. Pretty good deal! The restaurant is a bit small and cozy. I'll probably come back again if I'm ever in fallbrook.

Double Salmon Roll

This was my first visit to Yumi Sushi and I'm a little disappointed. Stopped for a roll to go Sunday afternoon and settled on their Double Salmon Roll. The restaurant is small, not more than 10 tables, and was not very busy at 4p on a Sunday. Service was friendly and quick and I took my roll home to eat. The roll was very plain and while the description says "salmon, avocado, lemon" on top, which is what drew me to choose it, I got a salmon/cuc in, plain salmon out. No avo. I had several bites before I realized there were some lemon slices in a little cup on the side that I was thinking was ginger. Avocado was nowhere to be found. I will try them again another time when I can sit down for service and update my review.

My friends and I stopped by this small sushi restaurant after a long day at the avocado festival. Initially, we were a bit confused as there was no one inside, but then a voice from the back welcomed us. We were seated by a friendly waitress who was both funny and helpful. As we were deciding on our orders, she surprised us with shrimp tempura on the house! One of my friends is vegan, and the waitress was extremely accommodating, pointing out all the items that fit her dietary guidelines and offering suggestions for what might taste good. For my own order, I chose the bento box with three items, which included miso soup, rice, and salad. I selected spicy tuna, sushi, and sashimi. My other friends ordered a variety of sushi rolls and bento boxes. The food took a while to be prepared, likely due to the small establishment and having only one sushi chef. If you visit, please be patient as everything is made to order. When the food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Both the sushi and sashimi were large cuts of fish, and they were very generous with the amount. Everything tasted fresh and delicious; I particularly enjoyed my bento box. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the salad dressing--I couldn't quite identify the flavor, but it wasn't to my liking. Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit if you're in the Fallbrook area; the staff were amazing, and we had a great time!

The BEST sushi place ever. The service is amazing! Our whole family loves coming here! Worth any amount of driving or wait! Our kids love the environment and the sushi is TOP QUALITY!

Ask the Community - Yumi Sushi

Are they open for indoor dining again?

Hi, they are not open for indoor eating/seating. They only offer take-out and delivery. Their take-out times, if you call their restaurant directly and don't use something like DoorDash, are pretty fast.

My husband loved the sushimi bowl but I wasn't as crazy about it as he was. Way too much rice for me! The soup was nothing special either. They did give a nice portion of fish. The No Name roll was my favorite. It was a very tasty roll piled high with stuff! We actually ordered a Volcano which we have had before but they accidentally brought us the Forest Gump roll. It was a roll I normally wouldn't have ordered because it is topped with jalapeño. I just took the pepper off and I really enjoyed the roll. It was served with a side of onion straws that I of course completely finished! I thought the edamame was just ok. I will skip that in the future.

I wanted everything tonight, so I chose 2 salmon skin rolls from Yama. They were big rolls and full of salmon skin, veggies and sticky rice. The owner is always there and greets you warmly upon coming in to the restaurant. This gem is in a strip mall in Fallbrook. We went at 7pm so there were some parking spaces near the restaurant. If you want fresh sushi, this is the spot. Now let's head over to another restaurant along the same strip mall that my husband loves. Yama has an extensive menu. Noodles, udon, katsu, rolls of every type and sashimi. Don't forget the wine list too.

Good, but a touch too hot for my personal preferences. Sometimes I really like trying spicy tuna just because everyone's take on it is so different. Here's a version with a smarter, warmer tone and some playful humor:…read more Some restaurants serve great food. Others make you feel like family. Ryu somehow manages to do both. We've been coming here since they first opened years ago, and it's still our go-to sushi spot. Jenny is an absolute treasure. She somehow remembers details about our family and friends that even we occasionally have to stop and think about. She knows our usual order, remembers which sauces we love, and greets us like we've just returned from a long voyage instead of missing sushi night. At this point, we're fairly certain she has either a photographic memory... or an FBI-level file on us. Either way, we adore her. As for the food? Dangerous. The sushi is phenomenal, the miso soup is pure comfort in a bowl, the tempura is perfectly crisp, and the ramen and noodle dishes are outrageously delicious. Every visit begins with, "We'll keep it light today," and ends with us wondering if there's enough room for "just one more roll." The restaurant is always spotless, the décor is beautiful, and the entire atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Ryu has spoiled us to the point that eating mediocre sushi elsewhere now feels like a personal betrayal. We'll see you all again very soon... probably sooner than our waistlines would recommend!

If you go for the all you can eat sushi, make sure you have a good appetite. Their rolls are huge. The rice in the rolls fills you up fast. They have so many options to choose from. Take your pick and enjoy. We were here almost four years ago when there were huge wild fires going on. It was the day we closed escrow, so we have some cash in hand. We treated Riverside county fire fighters to a meal. They treated us to dessert!

Perfect for anniversary dinner:…read more Omakase sushi is one of the most refined and memorable dining experiences you can have, especially if you appreciate attention to detail, freshness, and craftsmanship. From the moment you sit down, there's a clear sense that this is not just a meal--it's a curated journey guided entirely by the chef's expertise and intuition. What makes omakase stand out is the trust you place in the chef. Instead of choosing dishes yourself, you allow the chef to present a sequence of sushi that highlights the best ingredients available that day. This often results in a progression that feels intentional and balanced, starting with lighter, more delicate flavors and gradually moving toward richer, more complex pieces. Each bite is thoughtfully designed to showcase the natural qualities of the fish, the texture of the rice, and the subtle interplay of seasoning. The freshness of the ingredients is immediately noticeable. High-quality omakase typically features fish flown in from top markets, and you can taste the difference. The fish is clean, tender, and often melts in your mouth. The rice, which is just as important as the fish, is seasoned perfectly--slightly warm, lightly vinegared, and shaped with precision so it holds together without being dense. Another standout aspect is the craftsmanship. Watching the chef prepare each piece right in front of you adds a level of appreciation you don't get with standard dining. Every movement is deliberate, from slicing the fish to forming the rice to brushing on just the right amount of soy or adding a touch of wasabi. It becomes clear that years of training and discipline go into even the simplest-looking piece of sushi. Omakase also introduces you to varieties of fish and preparations you might never order on your own. This expands your palate and helps you discover new favorites. Seasonal ingredients often play a role, which keeps the experience dynamic and unique each time you go. Service is typically intimate and attentive, especially if you're seated at the counter. The chef may explain each piece, offer guidance on how to eat it, or adjust the pacing based on your preferences. This interaction adds a personal element that enhances the overall experience. While omakase can be more expensive than regular sushi, the value lies in the quality, skill, and overall experience. It's not just about eating--it's about enjoying a carefully orchestrated meal that reflects both tradition and creativity. Overall, omakase sushi delivers a level of quality and thoughtfulness that's hard to match. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines artistry, flavor, and a sense of occasion, omakase is absolutely worth it.

All of the servers were friendly, attentive, and quick to check in on us. We never had to flag anyone down or wait long for assistance. The menu offers a great variety of options, making it easy to find something for everyone. We ordered the Black Garlic Ramen, Shrimp Tempura Udon, Garlic Edamame, and a variety of rolls. Everything came out quickly, was fresh, and tasted great. The ramen and rolls were especially enjoyable, and there wasn't much left behind except for the broth. The only item that missed the mark for me was the Garlic Edamame. It was coated in quite a bit of sauce, which ended up overpowering the flavor of the edamame itself. I'd recommend ordering it with less sauce or asking for it on the lighter side if possible. Overall, the prices were reasonable, the food was good, and the service was attentive. If I'm back in the area, I'd definitely stop by again.
