Service has been good with only one or two times where food took a lot longer, but it was also packed. We came for breakfast and boy does this place get packed. Come early or prepare to wait. But honestly the wait isn't too long, also it's worth the wait. Z Jeanine and all the employees were absolutely fabulous. I love the little hostess. The place was busy and quite loud, but it was decorated great, the food was good, fabulous and affordable. Love the sushi rolls and I love all the paintings that they have hanging on the wall, I don't know if they're for sale but they're fabulous. Very cool restaurant. Perfect for lunch/brunch! They have a terrace with beautiful seating as well as plenty of indoor tables. Their menu has a wide variety from salads, sandwiches, burgers and even Hawaiian! I ordered the trio which comes with half a sandwich, soup and salad. I went with their tuna sandwich and chicken tortilla soup. The sandwich was very generously made with plenty of tuna and avocado. So fresh and yummy. The salad was good and I appreciated the mixed greens rather than standard iceberg served at most places. The soup was kind of bland in my opinion. Lacked salt and needed some type of spice, maybe some chipotle pepper would've elevated the flavors. My husband ordered the Hawaiian plate with beef teriyaki and he loved it! We sat on the outside patio and it was really nice. My wife had the mushroom provolone burger cooked medium and perfect. Sweet potato fries were a real treat, we all had some of hers. My granddaughter really enjoyed the grilled cheese and the fries were really good too. I had the Hawaiian bowl w chicken but after seeing the burger I kind of wish I ordered that! Was torn between breakfast or lunch , and glad I chose the breakfast. The French toast with the fresh berries was so delicious. Probably the best I have ever had. I love the artwork that is posted for sale. Service was excellent, especially for table of 12. All of the orders came out correct and all together. Wow. (Need I say more?) best Mexican food in North County hands down. Also the margaritas are mighty tasty. They have a lot of vegetarian options which you know is important to me. Stopped in for a VERY busy Saturday lunch, and it was good but amid the busy frenzy, a few things from our order got forgotten. We decided to eat at the bar to save time, since we'd tried to phone in reservations, but they said everything is just walk-in. (The bar turned out to have way too much frantic activity for our taste, but I admire how fast the ONE wait person there could move!) Hubby had a Reuben. They forgot the thousand island dressing, and it took awhile to get it. I ordered the DELISH chicken and avocado salad, with tomatoes on the side, and the guy didn't bring the tomatoes, which I pointed out. He said, "I'll get those" but never did. Wanted to order take out. Host told us to go place our order at the "counter next to the bar" so we did. We stood there for over 6 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Mind you, during this 6 minutes, multiple employees walked by us and used the computer right in front of us (less than 2 feet from us). When the bartender did finally acknowledge us she said "give me a sec" ok, cool glad to be at least acknowledged. Then she proceeded to go back behind the bar and ignore us for 8 or 9 more minutes. We have been to Z several times and enjoyed it but this time it had changed. The Philly cheese was greasy bun, one translucent piece of cheese, and a wilted piece of lettuce which was weird and yesterdays meat. The Hawaiian Katsu chicken bowl was a fail with dried out chicken pieces and a poor attempt to hide the fact with yesterdays sauce. I had to ask the wait staff for condiments and sweetener for tea. I wonder if they have new management. I am disappointed when a great place becomes a less than it has been. read more
