I ordered the Portuguese Sausage (with onions) and eggs with rice and she got the corn beef hash, hash browns and eggs. I added a side of loco moco gravy and it was delicious. Not overly salty but something to savor. Service was excellent. Rose, our server, was friendly and ever present. Portions were large. We couldn't finish our meals. We plan to come again when we visit Fallbrook later this month! It was a Sunday morning (9:25) and we sat right away. By the time we left (10:25), the place was packed. I came here tonight for the first time and really enjoyed the food! Great atmosphere and they had the Ducks hockey game on :). I haven't updated this In a while, but I eat hear at least once a week. Breakfast and lunch and sometimes dinner with friends. Today, I went for breakfast but it was afternoon by the time I got there so I ordered lunch instead. They do however serve breakfast until 3 pm. I ordered the house salad and the California Roast beef sandwich with fries. The salad is spring mix lettuce with cranberries, walnuts, Julianned red delicious apples and bleu cheese crumbles. With a light raspberry vinaigrette. Unless want just the salad, don't order a whole one cause it's huge!. The sandwich was made with thinly shaved roast beef, piled high, with roasted ortega chili and Swiss cheese all on toasted sour dough bread. We were approached by one of the staff members who had terrible attitude and told us we couldn't sit where we were and didn't redirect us to somewhere that we couldn't sit where wait. Honestly it was not worth the drive for me. It's just ok, the food was alright, it's a pretty busy place. We asked to cook the patty melt very well done, but was still slightly pink in the middle and the cheese was not even melted all the way, so that went to waste, don't like sending food back. The art downstairs and on the way up the staircase that leads to the restaurant is really nice, other than that I won't be taking that drive up anytime soon only if in the area I would stop by. read more

Still great food, great service staff. However, be advised: 1) Using a credit card, you'll get dinged 3% on the grand total, including tax. I've never seen a posted sign (they say exists) or a mention on the menu of this. The interesting thing is: they are random in assessing this charge over many visits, according to receipts I have. 2) Make a special request and your server will say: "sure, no problem," but they won't tell you they're going to surcharge you nearly 25% of your entree cost for a nearly imperceptible addition. I found this to be unethical and unforgivable, but management there didn't necessarily agree with my argument in their response to my email about their lapses. As such, these things give me some pause with respect to recommending this establishment--as I've often done in the past-- to others going forward. Caveat emptor! read more

They also love the family atmosphere and the attention to cleanliness, as well as the attentive staff. Wait can be a bit long in the AM, but nothing out of the ordinary; definitely worth the wait. Friend ordered the Ahi Tuna Tower and I tried the Steak Stroganoff, which was more like a Penne Alfredo with tiny pieces of Steak -- after the 6th or 8th bite of steak and having to take grissel out of my mouth, I gave up on the meal. Embarrassed to make a big deal out of it and ruin the meal for my friend, I chose to call the restaurant with my complaint the following day. I told the Manager about my let down AND that our meals were served 20 minutes apart...all I got from the Manager was I should have said something while I was in the restaurant during the meal and they could have corrected the problem. Rejecting my plate would only further ruin both of our dinners. Recommend: don't order the Stroganoff -- very disappointing on the 'steak' !! read more

Went to the Z Cafe for mom in law's birthday. Here is our review: 1. I ordered the Hawaiian Plate Special (comes with grilled teriyaki chicken, steak, rice, macaroni salad, and choice of soup/salad). I also ordered two hand rolls. My food was delicious! Best hand rolls I've ever had! I chose a side salad with my special, the Asian dressing is delicious! 2. My husband had Rainbow Rolls, he loved them! And, a French Dip Sandwich. The French Dip was not as great, the meat is cut super thick. 3. My in laws both ordered burgers. My mom in law requested a gluten free bun, they were able to provide this. My dad in law burger came on a large French roll, no hamburger bun! The burgers were a bit too thick and the French roll was difficult to cut through. My in laws are in their late 60's and 70's, but in any case, these burgers are massive! Z cafe is the perfect location between Temecula and north county SD. I've had many dates here and the ambiance is perfect for conversation. There is a wide range of food choices and everything I've had has been delicious. There is indoor seating which is cute and the ceilings are lined with fans. There is an outdoor patio area upstairs which is nice if you prefer to be outdoors. It is covered and shaded and usually has a nice breeze. On cold evenings they have heaters going. I wish they had a full bar. They only serve wine and beer so if you're a cocktail person you may want to reconsider. All in all I recommend Z Cafe! read more

This is a lovely restaurant located in a small business park but don't let that fool you. There is a spacious roof top patio dining area and a sizable indoor seating area as well. The food is amazing! There are some wonderful Hawaiian specialties, I had the Katsu Chicken which was delicious. The portions are quite large, especially the sandwiches and they have a full bar. Came here to have lunch with a friend as others have shared that there are vegan options. It wasn't difficult for me to find something to eat. The veggie wrap had avocado and hummus and was tasty. I got a side of fruit as the French fries are in a shared frier with other animal products (yuck!). My daughter's order was a little more challenging as trying to find something toddler friendly and vegan was a challenge. There was no kids menu but they offered her a nice coloring page and markers to keep her busy. I ended up ordering her the veggie teriyaki bowl with rice. The waitress shared she thought the brown rice had butter so we opted for the white. She said she'd confirm everything was vegan and when she didn't come back, I assumed all was okay. When she came back with food (which, I thought took a while), she said the teriyaki sauce wasn't vegan and so they left it out. My daughter had a bowl of steamed veggies and rice. I asked for soy sauce but to be honest it was awful. The broccoli was okay, the zucchini was meh, but the carrots tasted awful- even with soy sauce. I wish I had the opportunity to rethink an option for my daughter because it just wasn't very good and not at all what I would have asked for. Thankfully, the fruit on my plate was good and I was able to share it with my daughter. The wrap was pretty tasty but not something my daughter is into. I probably would have ordered a few sides of things and it would have been a cheaper meal. I will say between the 3 of us, our tab was only roughly $20. The wrap was worth it, not sure the rest of it was. Not the best option for vegan food but you can find something. Wish the fries were in a separate frier. I might be back but with a better plan for trying to feed my 2 year old! Also, I forgot my daughter's sippy cup at the table and when my hubby called, they said nothing was in the lost and found... so they tossed it or kept it, and that just makes me sad. read more

I've come here quite a few times and the food is always of great quality, excellent job to the staff who prepares it. Prices are also great. However, the service is always really disappointing. I went to grab lunch with a friend and, first of all, when we got there, we weren't asked if we wanted to be seated inside or outside, even though the hostess asked the couple in front of us for their preference. Second, we weren't even halfway done with our food when we were getting the check, mind you it was not busy at all so I'm not sure what the rush was. And lastly, our server was rushing us to sign the check; she said, and verbatim, "can you just sign? Sorry I have to clock out soon." I get it and I empathize with you, but that's impolite and unprofessional and that's not something that we as customers should be worried about. If this is an issue, then you need to work with your coworkers to figure out a hand off system, but please don't make this an uncomfortable experience for us just because you need to "clock out." read more

We absolutely love this place - the quality and quantity of food for the price cannot be beat, so nice to have a reasonably priced restaurant in our community! I did have a less than great experience today however - we went in around 8am and saw people at tables dining, however a hostess was not at the front so we waited a couple minutes and then went to go sit at the bar but there was no bartender or server to be seen. We were a little frustrated not being greeted or receiving service so we just walked out. We will be back to try again of course because this place is so wonderful but would love to have someone greet us and serve us food next time. read more

This place is kind of tucked away at the top of the parking lot. Really glad we found it - staying nearby and not a ton of options within 10 miles of where we were. The inside is beautiful with high ceilings plants art and a bar. The outside deck is also beautiful was just a bit too chilly in the morning but I did see heat lamps. The service was decent - the staff is definitely busy even on a random weekday. We did get seated right away though. Food was good. Enjoyed the place so much we came back the following day just for happy hour & early bird dinner. All items on the happy hour are large enough portions to either share or be a meal by itself. The Kalua pork sliders were one of my faves. Super flavorful with minimal sauce and amazing coleslaw. You can't go wrong with the handrails. I tried them all. The salmon skins and tempura were my favorites. The kid loved the chicken nuggets with fries. The pork street tacos are pretty good too. Only downside is they are super oily. If you have a kid who loves noodles but not sauce the bow tie pasta would be ideal. It was a little too bland for my taste but my husband really enjoyed it. It has no sauce but rather lightly tossed in butter and mixed with mushrooms, tomatoes, chicken, & parm cheese. I highly recommend checking this place out.
