Just a few miles east of the 15 in Hidden Meadows this modern and mildly upscale restaurant was bustling on a Thursday. 20 taps available including hard ciders and kombuchas. Standard variety of burgers, salads, wraps. On this stop I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos which are spicy and served in a "fried" tortilla with cheese (sort of half quesadilla with shrimp and a cabbage slaw. Iy also come with chips and salsa on the side, which I didn't need. I'll try something else the next time I stop here. My only complaint this time was the music. This place is a great spot for a quick lunch or a beer and a sports game. The food is fantastic and comes out pretty quickly. It's a seat-yourself and order-at-the-bar kind of place. You can either close out right away or keep your tab open. There's bar seating with TVs and also patio seating available. It has a cute, comfy vibe that was welcoming. We had the Classic burger, Chicken Caesar wrap, and a side of Parmesan garlic fries. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked great. We can't wait to come back and try the wings next time. The food is okay. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and it had too much feta and buffalo. Literally dripping salty buffalo sauce. I wanted to like it so much but I couldn't. However the spice level was there, it did have a good kick. The service was good except for the fact they should update their yelp and google page because it says dogs are still allowed but they're not. We had to sit out by the market, which wasn't a big deal but their ad said they do allow outdoor seating for dogs. As far as ambiance, I'm not sure. The staff are friendly and food selection is great, and decor beautiful. Sometimes I'll use a restaurant restroom and there isn't a place to hang your items, and the floor isn't an option. The Classic Burger is a double patty smashburger that's among the best quick-serve restaurant burgers in the North County. All of the ingredients are fresh, high quality, and their ratio to each other and the Brioche bun is perfect. The burger sauce is also excellent and ties the burger together nicely. The fries are crispy and delicious, with no soft ones like many such places suffer from. The onion rings are big, fried to perfection, and served with two tasty dipping sauces. My main complaint is that they, like other such places, don't offer a burger with a small serving of fries, instead making you buy a huge pile for $6.00 extra. When you're charging $15.00 for a burger, throwing in a few fries that would literally cost them less than 25¢ would be fair. The back patio is a delightful place to eat, and there are plenty of TVs streaming sports. My other complaint is the flies--at least on the Summer day I visited. Stopped here for lunch in Escondido. Sports bar with a nice outdoor patio. Food was okay tbh. Not bad but not really memorable either. I enjoyed the wings tho! Especially the lemon pepper. Good food and better service. We came for the weekend to celebrate a wedding and needed a place to grab some lunch and this was the perfect place because our kids are so picky. We ordered burgers, fish tacos, carne asada nachos, chicken strips and they hit the spot. Drinks were also on point. Although it was hot as balls outside, the shade and the water mist made it more comfortable to eat outside. Next time you're in Escondido and want to get those bellies full, come this place a try. ‼If you're a person with disabilities that requires a medical alert/service animal I do not recommend going here unless you enjoy feeling uncomfortable during your meals.‼ I brought my service dog during lunchtime and sat in the back patio area. Mind you this establishment is 80% open air/outdoors and was not busy. My dog had his vest and his badge on and about 30 minutes into being there a man came up to our table. I couldn't tell you his name as he did not introduce himself. Could've been a bus boy could've been the owner. I have no idea. He informed me that dogs are not allowed at this establishment. I replied that he is a service animal. I didn't think I would need to say that as he is clearly marked. My service dog was not causing any disruptions to prompt this encounter. In response to me informing him of the clear fact that he is a service animal he replied "well what service does he perform for you?" I have not been asked this in my four years with my service dog. It was my understanding that businesses are not legally allowed to inquire as to what disability your dog services. I informed him of this and he said "actually it's the one question I'm legally allowed to ask" I informed him the service he provides. He left us alone, but the encounter made me incredibly uncomfortable and confused as we were not bothering anyone. We had every right to be there and it was clear that he was a service dog. I don't understand why he felt the need to argue this and make a customer feel uncomfortable. I did look up later and he is allowed to ask the task in which the animal performs but they are not allowed to inquire as to why he needs to perform that task. I wanted to leave right then, but our food was coming, paid for, and I was not alone. If this man had approached us in kindness and introduced himself, things might have gone differently and I might have not felt the need to write a review, but he was NOT kind. He seemed angry off the bat. He did not want my dog there despite his right to be there. Safe to say we will not be coming back here and I highly advise anyone with disabilities that requires a service animal to avoid this place. ****update: upon reading through their other reviews, I am not the only one who has had an unpleasant experience with the ownership/staff of this restaurant in regards to service animals, MANY have. They have outright denied service to those with disabilities and service animals which is illegal and can occur a $4000 fine if reported. he seems to come up with a different excuse each time as to why a service dog is not allowed in their 80% outdoor establishment lol Someone else stated that he mentioned there was an incident there that caused them to not allow dogs anymore. I understand the PTSD he might be having, however it is illegal to deny or harass someone with a disability that requires a service animal. One can legally ask someone to remove their service animal if they are not under the control of their owner, but that does not seem to be the case with any of the encounters I read about nor my encounter with him. read more

My husband and I were staying at the Welk Resort and were searching for food off site and we found this gem. It's a super cute, chill spot with delicious food. My husband had the fire bird sandwich with no slaw or pickles and loved it; he said it had great flavor. I had the fish and chips and they were cooked SO well! Super crunchy and hot breading on the fish--so good. The fish inside was small though so breading to fish ratio could be improved. We also ordered the sweet potato fries and they were hot, crunchy and soft on the inside--perfection. Service is great! You order at the bar and seat yourself. This place is absolutely darling, but you wouldn't even know that just from looking at the outside. Walking in the entire restaurant is outdoors, the decor and seats are wonderful. Tons of booths, pillows, and fresh flowers on every table. You order at the bar, grab your number and they will bring out the food to you. Everything seemed to be self served, self serve water, silverware, condiments, etc. Came for brunch and ordered bottomless mimosas $25, they gave us a bottle with cranberry and orange juice as well. When you finish your bottle just go on up to the bar for another. I was a bit let down by the brunch menu, there wasn't that many options but they did say we could order food from the deli next door. The food was just okay, I asked for crispy potatoes and they were not at all. The omelette was good and had fresh ingredients. The bacon could have been crispier. There is also a ton of flies and hungry birds since it is all outdoors. Overall, everyone was so nice and accommodating, and the vibe here is so welcoming. Thought we found our next little hidden gem but damn we were wrong.. started off with a bad experience when ordering our food and drink order. The bartender last night (Sunday) acted like we were bothering her when placing our order.. not even trying to hide her facial expressions she made it super obvious like she was upset we were placing an order... then to top it off we literally waited over an 1hr and a half for our food with no manager or employee reaching out to apologize or offer any drinks nor any type of follow ups even whe it got really slow.. just a bad and horrible experience and wouldn't stop in again...pretty sad because it's a nice spot but oh well ‍ read more

Was informed of this rather rudely while sitting at a table waiting for the food I had already paid for when a staff walked up to my table as he was passing it: "Dogs are not allowed here anymore. We were originally headed to stone brewing on our way to our venue tour however they were closed for a private event. We found this place on our maps and we are glad we did! Upon arrival we were greeted by the sweetest waitresses and don't even get me started on the food. The food was incredibly delicious and by far the best fish tacos we've had yet. Got the Hot chicken sandwich and half order of fries. It was somewhat crowded but I've seen it busier. It took an hour for our food to arrive. Learned there was only one cook in the kitchen. When the food arrived the fries were cold. Ordered half an order which looked more like a quarter of an order. Which was fine because they were cold anyway. The chicken on my sandwich was paper thin and very over cooked. Nothing hot about that hot chicken sandwich other than the name. I've never seen a thinner piece of chicken on a sandwich. I was starving so after waiting f so long I managed to choke most of the sandwich down. I should've complained but I didn't want to wait another hour for my food. It was taco Tuesday and they only had carne asada tacos. Another disappointment as I really wanted the Birrieria tacos. And they charge for every extra item like sour cream and cheese. Really? You don't ever approach a service dog in a hostile manner and tell us we don't allowed dogs here. Then proceed to provide attitude when we stated it was a service dog. Something you guys should educate yourselves on. When I went back to ask for his name (the ginger male at the register) he was no longer at the front. What an amazing find! Got a little worried approaching this place since its nestled in the hills but its a fantastic location now that I think of it. Staff was awesome and explained everything when we stepped inside. You order at the bar and take a number to a table of your choice. They did have a few reserved tables so you can likely call in for larger parties. Luckily we were able to find a spot no problem with our large party of 12, but we did come a little earlier around 5:30pm on a Thursday. It is outdoor so may be uncomfortable if its super hot outside but it seems like they shade pretty well and have misters to keep you from melting too much. We just ordered a bunch of stuff and shared it like we normally do. Fish Tacos (4): They were good but not super outstanding. Fish was fresh and breaded nicely. Good flavor in the fish as well but small compared to the taco shell that it came with. The cabbage and other topping complimented it along with the salsa. The Western Burger (4): Fantastic burger. Big and juicy. Somewhat gourmet-ish. The meat quality stands out which is proper. The Market Salad (4): It's a fresh salad. Nice zing flavor. Not too special but good. Kids Sliders (3): Our boy loved it but it wasn't anything special. Came with fries that were crispy. Grilled Cheese Bacon Sandwich (5): THIS was amazing! Didn't have enough to go around here. The bacon was thick and crispy. The bread was light and toasted perfectly. And the cheese was cheesy. Not sure how else to describe it. It's good! Chinese Chicken Salad (5): Fat slice of grilled chicken on top of your greens. Good sesame sauce and fresh veggies. This one also disappeared quickly. Truffle Fries (4): Crispy fries. I think they use some sort of truffle oil to get the truffle flavor. Not sure but it was tasty. Brussels Sprouts (4): Nice char on the Brussels. The sprouts were really big! Drinks (5): First, their draft selection is awesome! Great craft brews like Pliny the Elder and their taps are super COLD! Amazing in this hot weather! I wanted to find a spot off the beaten path that I could ride my bike to and I found this gem. Up in the rocky hills of north county this was the perfect spot to ride to. Great bar and selection. This was a super cute spot. We were in town and wanted to find a place to watch our team play and this was a short distance away. The front of this spot doesn't look like anything special, but when you walk in, it super cute, open and airy and sports like but girly and granola a little bit, they have the bbq going on the side. It's kind of a hidden gem but it's in a nice location. A bit overwhelming with how busy it is (busy is good, I know) but not a lot of space to stand and not be in anyone's way. They only serve beer and wine, no cocktails. We got the FML fries and the carne asada nachos. I didn't like the fries, the sauce was more of a smoky chipotle flavor rather than a sriracha aioli and I hate smoky. They were too spicy for my friend. The nachos were good, but we got a lot of fatty meat on the nachos and made it hard to enjoy all of it. I'll still come back, it's a cool vibe otherwise! read more

The Sideyard Public House has been a lifesaver for our community ever since it opened. It puts out great food has a wonderful selection of beers (so I hear, I'm not a beer drinker) and offer 48 different wine labels (which I do partake in). The only negative I have ever had was the annoying flys that were always trying to steal my food. I showed up last night and asked my family if they noticed anything different and they immediately said "No flies!". Then I stopped by with my daughter and her friend for a quick friend during the day and again No Flies!!
