Breakfast platter
Benny A.

The place is small and cute and located in a small shopping center. The waitress was very attentive and always made sure our drinks are filled. The portions of this place is huge! I only wished they had their seasonal items placed on a separate menu or you would have to just look at the sign outside or on the chalkboard for it I would recommend this place as a go to breakfast place. They have regulars who go there often for a reason.

Great spot in Escondido for brunch.. decided to try this place out since they have what we were looking for as breakfast food.. this spot is located in the same plaza as big lots.. which is nice to walk off the food right after.. they have nice big size portions unlike some other breakfast place.. service was good

I got the country fried steak and eggs. They have this homemade salsa that's exceptional, it has a little bit of a kick.

They make the mimosas perfectly every time, I think cranberry is the best. I love when places are constantly checking to make sure we have everything we need. It's amazing to me that this place isn't busy all the time.

This is a great, no frills spot for breakfast or lunch! Nothing fancy, just good food and friendly service. I've been coming here since I was a child and have never been disappointed!

Country fried steak and French toast combo

Came for breakfast and food was great! Great customer service and attentive. I ordered the country fries steak and my daughter ordered the French toast combo and it was delish! Listening to oldies while we eat. Very homey feeling.

Amazing pork chops for breakfast! Juicy and delicious. Eggs just right too. Not much for ambience in a little corner of a strip mall...

Love the vibes, really reminds me of an old school diner. Food is good, not the best. But the customer service is great!

It's really nice to have a local brew pub in Escondido! I've been multiple times and really like…read moreit. Very open concept that has a modern feel to it. There is a nice indoor/outdoor vibe as there are some really big glass garage type windows that open (or close). The service has always been very prompt and friendly. I keep going back to their pizza's as they are quite good. I also suggest checking the special of the day as they usually have some pretty cool ones. They also have beer! Quite a few to be honest and if you aren't sure they are great at helping you figure out what works for you. For good food served by nice people in a clean and modern environment, this is the place!

First off, Im 100% sure the owner here uses ChatGPT to answer all negative yelp reviews. Any business owner worth their weight is able to think for themselves and use their brain to answer unless they're completely illiterate or too incompetent to think of a good response. Second off, are they even a brewery? I see cans and taps of their own beer, but looking into the business, I dont think they own a brewery at all. This is more along the lines of a taphouse/pub. THAT BEING SAID, the food is quite nice. I think the pizza is great and it feels like they make and roll their own dough which is respectable and ambitious for a random little spot like this. But It is quiet...too quiet. The beer tender would constantly hangout at the handicap table talking to any co-worker with free time on their hands for a long time. Seems like a cushy job honestly. I'm assuming they would hold conversation with customers, but unfortunately There were no customers... its a ghost town, and i left thinking, "This place is creepy." I'll just pick up and eat the pizza at home next time. I'm waiting to see what generic CHATGPT response the owner gives me.

Our meal: Hot Girl Summer (drink) tastes like a lighter piña colada. Refreshing Brisket - pretty good, once you scrape off the layer of fat on each piece. Potato salad - lots of dill, tasty but my mom said it needed more salt. Texas toast- delicious. I wanted more. BBQ beans - very good, sweet, but a little too soupy. It's pricy but BBQ tends to be that way anywhere. Eating on grand is expected to cost more anyways.

Con : questionable bbq without identity. Came here on some recommendation from local folks for bbq, was quite unexpected. Its better than the chain or larger outfits in Esco but that's not saying much. 1. Chicken and ribs plate, with potato salad side. - Potato is a Carolina style, creamy with herbs and not salty, enjoyed it. - Toast was perfect, good crunch but not overwhelming. - Chicken was lightly smoked, crispy skin and still moist, the highlight protein of the meal. - Ribs - the trim was baby back, fall off the bone in a bad way, it was just a boiled mess that had bbq sauce on the ribs. The bartender said it was smoked, but there is no smoke ring, just like the chicken or brisket. Avoid. 2. Brisket. Oh boy, this is where everything fell apart. - USDA prime, cool. But they didnt trim it well, the point was a mess. - sucker came out covered in sauce. After I asked what smoking style is it, after some redirect, he said Texas. If you serve central, north, or east Texan bbq, you will get chased out of town. This is some Kansas City style at best. - bbq sauce is some kind of Memphis brand with a lot of brown sugar, watery. - asked for mixed point and flat, was told have to pick one. Ordered point, came out flat. Bartender went back to kitchen to get me some point. Told me this is the first cut of the brisket for dinner service at 430pm. - flat was dry, painfully dey, was told there is no wrap, I could see no smoke ring and there was no inject or enough rub. The rule with bbq is no rub equals no bark, no bark equals no flavor. This place is betting on the bbq sauce to cover up the meat quality. I can't imagine how this hunk of meat will be by 9 pm. - point was a bit burnt, some foil would of deflected the heat source. The restaurant didnt want to waste trimming so trimming was minimal if any. 50% was edible with all the fat. Covered in sauce. - price - 42 USD. I say its reasonable price from just food cost, payroll, and rent. Overall the plating presentation was nice. Bartender brought me vinegar based bbq - south Carolina style with a little kick in spice. Quite a delight with the chicken. Its not as sour as the stuff around Carolinas that I had. If you check out my other reviews of bbq in SD, I usually quote "its easy to have a bbq place in San Diego since the people here have no clue what is good BBQ". This isnt as bad as Felix or Mike's, but its not Heritage (Oceanside) or Grand Olde BBQ (North Park), this is a local restaurant that pretends to serve BBQ. Would come back to try non bbq food, support your local business!

It was busy during lunch but we were lucky and snagged a booth. The menu offers classic diner fare - all day breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. I ordered the beef dip w/ fries and asked if they had horseradish. They asked me if I wanted the creamy kind or the raw shredded kind. Amazing!!! The beef dip was AMAZING. Au jus was perfect and the horseradish (I opted for the creamy kind) was the cherry on top. I was fortunate enough to try a couple bites of their cinnamon roll and if you like cinnamon rolls, theirs tops Cinnabon! Service is efficient, friendly, and no nonsense. Home Sweet Home Cafe reminds me of the mom & pop cafes in Mammoth; cozy, inviting, and serving great food. Truly a hidden gem in the middle of an industrial area in Escondido!!

Staff are very friendly and helpful in providing explanations and recommendations when ordering. They come to check on you often, even during rushes. The food is pretty typical diner food, doesn't try to do anything unique, but their items are all solid. I recommend the country skillet with country fries (which are just deep fried potato cubes). Definitely order the biscuits and gravy if you like them, it's delicious here. Five stars on the scale of American diners.

I can proudly say I have tried quite a few things on the menu already and have not been disappointed. I'd say at this point my brother and I have been here over 5 times. We even brought our parents here twice already. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. My brother and I have done breakfast, lunch and dinner at this point. The first item I tried was the Sun-Dried Tomato Rigatoni. This was so creamy and delicious (later found out you cam add another meat). Which my mom tried her first time around with Salmon. She said it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. From that first pasta, I tried the March Month Special, I got the chopped cheese with no cheese (lactose intolerant) but man did I devour it so fast!! There tater tots never miss btw ALWAYS crispy. The Grilled Chicken Sando, mannn was thay superr good too. Chicken was juicy and always love me some avocado. I told my brother I am going to make it a priority to try everything I cam here. Also, the presentation on the plates ESPECIALLY the Fresno 1/2 Chicken *chefs kiss* The service is NEVER misses. Soo attentive no matter the time of day. Tony's drinks are UH-MAY-ZING. We had Mckellen as our server and he was great. The biggest shoutout to James (the owner) seems like he knows how to create a phenomenal work environment and keeps his people happy. We've seen him walk around often and checking in. You can definitely see thay he cares. I HIGHLY recommend coming here if you have the chance. Also, try the Espresso Martini my brother who is far from a coffee drinker even loves it!!

Feliks and her family came in and were seated by the side door, next to the coffee and orange juice machines. Feliks said she was in a hurry and wanted to order at that moment, basically cutting in front of two other customers. First off.... Francine is one of the best servers in the place. Always greets with a smile and if you're a regular, you may be lucky enough for a little playful banter from her. Feliks didn't wait 20 minutes for coffee. She waited about 5 or 6 minutes tops. You asked about eggs. She asked how you'd like them and you never answered her. So, when she asked again, you got crabby and condescendingly said, "Scrambled" then asked for another server. There was nothing calm about your offensive behavior, wanting the entire check to be comped. You were the bully!! In fact, YOUR behavior made MY dining experience not so pleasurable, so, thanks for that. It's rare that Nima, the owner isn't there on a Sunday, but even restaurant owners have lives outside of work. Next time you're in a total hurry, try not going out to eat at a popular eatablishment on a Sunday beforehand. Not only will you be happier, but the gals at Pegah's won't have to put up with your shit.

She is not only arrogant but argues with customers. I simply asked her when if my coffee was ready after 20 mins of waiting and she gave so much attitude and argued back. After asking politely for a new server she continued to argue and humiliate me. I also asked her if the kids meal comes with eggs and she became defensive and hyper verbal and argumentative. After telling her we would like another server she still continued to come to the table and told us "the other server doesn't have much experience." We had enough and calmly went to check out and pay at the front and this lady named Lina was terrible and seemed to be Francin's friend as she was full of attitude and told us "manager is on a daycation" when we asked for the manager. We asked for his number and she struggled to give us his number and the lady behind her gave it. It's sad as we love the food here the service was straight up bullying and condescending. Terrible!!! Not worth it! Also when asking for the manager multiple times she pointed to main number with an attitude and rolling her eyes and told us to call since the number is right there as she chuckled. These pple were taking full advantage of the manager not being there and also bullying customers who ask any additional Qs.
