California Benedict
Saleen M.

We always get coupons for this restaurant in the Clipper Magazine & we decided to give it a try. They have 3 locations in North County. We dined for brunch on NYE & it was busy! Cute diner & retro feel. Dishes came out quick & service was friendly. California Benedict: Amazing! Crispy bacon, crispy side of hash browns, loved it. Hearty portion. This location is in a neighborhood with a few parking spots & street parking. Senior menu available.

Pegans yelp photo with prices.

We have gone there for many years and just seeing how over priced their food is now is unbelievable. We won't be going there ever again. It's like everything has gone up at least 5.00 more per dish. 20.00 for a club sandwich is crazy. Sorry to see that it's heading towards losing loyal customers. Below is a picture of where I got the prices. On your yelp site. I wasn't making it up I wouldn't do that. I like your food very much . And I do understand the reason for increases. Just shocked when I saw the advertised picture.

Two eggs over easy, with ham and chrispy hash browns...met expectations !!!

Great breakfast at a reasonable price, comfortable booths and great friendly service provided by the lovely Francine. We ordered the veggie omelette with wheat toast dry, two eggs over easy with ham, the fruit bowl and both came with hash browns (done extra chrispy - per our request-the chief nailed it !!!) Can't wait to try some of their other item.

Came to Pegah's Kitchen with my in laws while it was raining. It is a cute little diner and it feels nostalgic the moment you walk in. The food was good and filling, nothing too special. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs and the steak was a little dry and my sunny side eggs were a bit under. We also got the sausage gravy and biscuits and I should have gone with a half order because it was a lot of food. I also wish they had a bit of butter or something for more flavor. One thing I really liked was the apple jelly for the toast. We only waited about ten minutes to be seated even though it was busy. It was a nice and simple spot for a rainy day.

Club sandwich on wheat, no mayo and side of fresh fruit

Loved the service and the food. They had a large selection of both breakfast and lunch items. We had the club sandwich on wheat with no mayo with a side of fruit, and the ABC burger (add bleu cheese) with French fries and both were great. The service was friendly and quick. The prices reasonable too. We went on a Saturday and luckily they were able to seat us right away. The food came out quickly and they refilled our hot tea and iced tea. This will be our new breakfast/lunch place before heading to the Safari Park!

Front entrance and parking is pretty much on the building. To the left of the entrance is the outside seating. Sorry the only pic I took.

This was a cute little mom and pop spot. In a neighborhood very limited parking but there is some street parking. Outside seating available. Service was great from the time I walked in to the time I left. If you love eggs, this place has a lot of them. I chose the French Toast and added fresh strawberries and whip cream and made it a meal minus the eggs and substituted with hash browns and got 2 sausage patties. All really good. The orange juice wasn't freshly squeezed, it came out of the machine we sat next to. The tables were a little small and not a lot of room at the tables. If you need a lot of room outside is perfect for you. Not a bad place to stop for a bite to eat on your way up or down the 15 or 78 freeways.

Pegah's is our go-to diner in the area. Service is always fast and friendly. Sierra in particular has been our fav server for going on 3 years now! I typically get their steak and eggs and my husband loves their veggie omelette. Our only request is that they invest in better quality coffee

I was pleasantly surprised with Pegah's Kitchen! Friendly staff, good prices, great portions, and the wait time was super short! I made a reservation to sit outside in their dog friendly outdoor patio seating. We got our order taken quickly and the food came out fast, nice and hot. The corned beef hash was good. Nice crispy hash browns. Monte Cristo was good too. The biscuit was so dry. Do not get it unless with gravy.

Ambiance.

Love the Brunch menu and the Service. The waiters all share responsibility to give the guests the best experience. It is a little noisy with not much sound dampening, but leads to a good friendly ambiance. I wish they would offer protein pancakes or waffles and other healthy eating options. I do love their fruit bowls and pecan specials!

I can proudly say I have tried quite a few things on the menu already and have not been disappointed. I'd say at this point my brother and I have been here over 5 times. We even brought our parents here twice already. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. My brother and I have done breakfast, lunch and dinner at this point. The first item I tried was the Sun-Dried Tomato Rigatoni. This was so creamy and delicious (later found out you cam add another meat). Which my mom tried her first time around with Salmon. She said it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. From that first pasta, I tried the March Month Special, I got the chopped cheese with no cheese (lactose intolerant) but man did I devour it so fast!! There tater tots never miss btw ALWAYS crispy. The Grilled Chicken Sando, mannn was thay superr good too. Chicken was juicy and always love me some avocado. I told my brother I am going to make it a priority to try everything I cam here. Also, the presentation on the plates ESPECIALLY the Fresno 1/2 Chicken *chefs kiss* The service is NEVER misses. Soo attentive no matter the time of day. Tony's drinks are UH-MAY-ZING. We had Mckellen as our server and he was great. The biggest shoutout to James (the owner) seems like he knows how to create a phenomenal work environment and keeps his people happy. We've seen him walk around often and checking in. You can definitely see thay he cares. I HIGHLY recommend coming here if you have the chance. Also, try the Espresso Martini my brother who is far from a coffee drinker even loves it!!

It was busy during lunch but we were lucky and snagged a booth. The menu offers classic diner fare - all day breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. Au jus was perfect and the horseradish (I opted for the creamy kind) was the cherry on top. I was fortunate enough to try a couple bites of their cinnamon roll and if you like cinnamon rolls, theirs tops Cinnabon! Service is efficient, friendly, and no nonsense. Staff are very friendly and helpful in providing explanations and recommendations when ordering. They come to check on you often, even during rushes. Definitely order the biscuits and gravy if you like them, it's delicious here. Five stars on the scale of American diners.

First off, Im 100% sure the owner here uses ChatGPT to answer all negative yelp reviews. Any business owner worth their weight is able to think for themselves and use their brain to answer unless they're completely illiterate or too incompetent to think of a good response. Second off, are they even a brewery? I see cans and taps of their own beer, but looking into the business, I dont think they own a brewery at all. This is more along the lines of a taphouse/pub. THAT BEING SAID, the food is quite nice. I think the pizza is great and it feels like they make and roll their own dough which is respectable and ambitious for a random little spot like this. But It is quiet...too quiet. The beer tender would constantly hangout at the handicap table talking to any co-worker with free time on their hands for a long time. Seems like a cushy job honestly. I'm assuming they would hold conversation with customers, but unfortunately There were no customers... its a ghost town, and i left thinking, "This place is creepy." I'll just pick up and eat the pizza at home next time. I'm waiting to see what generic CHATGPT response the owner gives me.

Con : questionable bbq without identity. Came here on some recommendation from local folks for bbq, was quite unexpected. Its better than the chain or larger outfits in Esco but that's not saying much. 1. Chicken and ribs plate, with potato salad side. - Potato is a Carolina style, creamy with herbs and not salty, enjoyed it. - Toast was perfect, good crunch but not overwhelming. - Chicken was lightly smoked, crispy skin and still moist, the highlight protein of the meal. - Ribs - the trim was baby back, fall off the bone in a bad way, it was just a boiled mess that had bbq sauce on the ribs. The bartender said it was smoked, but there is no smoke ring, just like the chicken or brisket. Avoid. 2. Brisket. Oh boy, this is where everything fell apart. - USDA prime, cool. But they didnt trim it well, the point was a mess. - sucker came out covered in sauce. After I asked what smoking style is it, after some redirect, he said Texas. If you serve central, north, or east Texan bbq, you will get chased out of town. This is some Kansas City style at best. - bbq sauce is some kind of Memphis brand with a lot of brown sugar, watery. - asked for mixed point and flat, was told have to pick one. Ordered point, came out flat. Bartender went back to kitchen to get me some point. Told me this is the first cut of the brisket for dinner service at 430pm. - flat was dry, painfully dey, was told there is no wrap, I could see no smoke ring and there was no inject or enough rub. The rule with bbq is no rub equals no bark, no bark equals no flavor. This place is betting on the bbq sauce to cover up the meat quality. I can't imagine how this hunk of meat will be by 9 pm. - point was a bit burnt, some foil would of deflected the heat source. The restaurant didnt want to waste trimming so trimming was minimal if any. 50% was edible with all the fat. Covered in sauce. - price - 42 USD. I say its reasonable price from just food cost, payroll, and rent. Overall the plating presentation was nice. Bartender brought me vinegar based bbq - south Carolina style with a little kick in spice. Quite a delight with the chicken. Its not as sour as the stuff around Carolinas that I had. If you check out my other reviews of bbq in SD, I usually quote "its easy to have a bbq place in San Diego since the people here have no clue what is good BBQ". This isnt as bad as Felix or Mike's, but its not Heritage (Oceanside) or Grand Olde BBQ (North Park), this is a local restaurant that pretends to serve BBQ. Would come back to try non bbq food, support your local business!
