I drive by Pegah's frequently and have never stopped for breakfast or lunch.....until this morning. Over time I have heard lots of good comments and decided to have breakfast here to see what all the good hub bub is all about. I am so glad that I did! Within moments after being seated I was greeted by my server, Francine! What a breath of fresh air she is. Besides her smile and friendly demeanor she made me feel welcomed. I enjoyed a tasty veggie omlete and coffee. My food came quickly and warm. Francine kept my coffee mug full. I will certainly be stopping again....soon! read more

Francine is 100% perfectly suited for her job as a server. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast there today, and her warm welcome, her sweet nature, and her PERFECT SERVICE made a great breakfast meal into a delightful experience. We were happy the prices have NOT GONE UP! We ordered a more pricey special, we split it, and couldn't eat it all. We had a country fried steak, hash browns, 2 eggs, 4 pieces of toast. Out the door for $20, including a generous tip for Francine. The menu is HUGE, the place is clean, and the portions are very generous. We loved Pegah's kitchen! I came here around 11AM on a Saturday to meet a friend for brunch. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. I ordered the eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns and my friend ordered the corn beef hash. Portions are generous and such an excellent value for the price. Most breakfast places are so expensive these days, but I found Pegahs to be very reasonable. There's a ton of options on their menu so I'm sure you'll find something you will like. The servers here are so sweet and did not rush us. We slowly worked on our meals and didn't feel like they were trying to clean our table too quickly. This feels like a small family owned business and I loved how welcoming the place is. There is limited parking in this lot so you may need to find street parking. read more

This is my go to place for breakfast in Escondido. The food is excellent, served quickly and it's kind of like Cheers; "everybody knows your name." Really, after dining there three or four times the wait staff all knew my name, even Nemah, the cashier. From the moment you walk in, you feel right at home. The cozy, home-style ambiance makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a hearty meal. Their breakfast dishes taste just like home -- pure comfort food at its best. And the service? Outstanding. We visited Pegah's for a belated Fathers Day Breakfast. There were five of us and a baby. We waited a few minutes and were seated quickly. Checking in garnered us a 10% discount, thanks Yelp!! We ordered coffee and waters while we absorbed the big breakfast menu. Francine was our server and she was great. Took our orders and kept everything straight. Coffee refills on point too. My California Eggs Benedict were perfect. Nice light hollandaise and tasty fresh avocados. Light poached eggs and crispy English muffins. So good. Everyone's food was tasty! When I say a "Greasy Spoon", I mean it as a compliment. This is my kinda place. You can tell by the number of San Diego Sheriffs eat here. Real food, great service, & clean and a 7-11 next door to get a Lottery ticket. Good Job!! We'll be back. read more

Well this is a first visit review. Restaurant is in a prime location. Parking can be a challenge as it is very close to a residential area and on a corner. We had to wait a few minutes outside as there was a wait on a Saturday. Service was very good. We had a waitress named Francine. She was very attentive to our needs. We were greeted by a nice gentleman at the front of restaurant. We were sat promptly after our wait. Food was delicious, had a wonderful omelette with bacon and avocado, per Francine's recommendation. The pancakes are super delicious also This will be return a return to spot!! Went here on Memorial Day as we were visiting family for the long weekend. I called ahead of time to secure a reservation. They said they didn't do reservations, but they said they'd see how things go, but no promises. When we arrived they had our table ready. Much appreciated. The menu was plentiful but not enormous. The food was worth the stars this restaurant receives. The waitress staff also went out of their way to accommodate us despite the challenges of a larger group. We'll be back, maybe our new family spot! read more

I had high hopes for this place because it's got such high ratings. I'm not the area but we came in for an appt nearby and searched a highly rated breakfast spot. I ordered the BOA omelette and my daughter ordered the Nutella and banana stuffed French toast. She was happy with her choice, but unfortunately I had pieces of my toast that were burnt to the point where I couldn't eat it. The avocado on my omelette also had pieces of that stem part at the top of the avocado, part of the seeds, along with the none of the cheese melted and was extremely thick. Overall it wasn't appealing. The service we received was great but my food specifically wasn't good and I ended up barely eating any of it. I'd give 3.5 for the service but I probably wouldn't be back based on the food. read more

Amazing!!!!!! The best breakfast spot in North County. The food, the prices the service. Everything is good about this place. Parking is a bit sketchy but totally worth it. I have been here a few times and each time I return, I remember why I love this place. I don't go here because their is so much food and it is so good I gain 4 pounds each visit! Customer service is awesome. Always very busy but you don't get the Busy diner attitude form the waitress. Food is always correct and fast and we get checked on a few times during the meal. The food!!!! So good, everything!!! Corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon and everything! Not a single discrepancy for my last 3 meals here. The prices of this heavenly, fatty, filling breakfasts are so good. Check this place out! But not on the weekend mornings because I don't want it too busy. Originating in Kansas City, Pegah's Kitchen in San Diego offers top-notch, homemade American style breakfast using only the finest ingredients. Family owned and family run local business!

Meet the Business Owner: Nima S.

Nima began working in the family's restaurants in his early teenage years. Partaking in all roles in the restaurant, including dishwashing, Nima began hosting and serving tables through the end of high school and all throughout college. Once graduated with a business degree at the University of Kansas, he went on to business jobs for several years before coming back to the restaurant business to run the Pegah's Kitchen Escondido location as the family looked to expand the business to an additional location in Vista to go along with the Escondido and San Marcos locations. Nima happily loves meeting new customers and helping out with a very hands-on approach to managing the restaurant.

They serve a fair variety of sandwiches and other little items to buy such as coffee and cookies. The location is small with about a total of 5 seating areas including both inside, and out. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

My burger was messy but delicious and my wife thought that her burger was a bit bland. I never consider mushroom burgers an option, always the beef for me! Fries and onion rings were tasty. Next time I'll try their fig jam sliders, this sounds interesting. There's plenty of seating both inside and out. And it's dog-friendly...we might bring our corgi the next time we come. Yes, we'll return to try their other offerings.

I'm a huge Wicked fan and was excited to see this event advertised on Yelp. This restaurant was the only one in North County I can think of that acknowledged the movie when it was about to be in theaters. First of all, it was easy to get to based on my GPS but kind of challenging to find their parking lot. I ended up finding a 2-hour parking on N. City Drive which was in walking distance. All I was thinking of while walking up to Draft Republic is that this place is massive. Inside, the hostesses verbally instructed me where to go...came across bowling...arcade games...sports on tvs on my way. Behind the curtains, I entered the room in awe. Draft Republic really went ALL OUT!! The Wicked witchy vibe was sooo magical. I loved the beautifuuul Elphaba/Glinda decorations, cleverly creative themed menu option names, actual movie playing in the background, and the take-home momentos. Nick and staff were super wickedly friendly too. The Wicked Bites, Grimmerie Shots and Wickedest Cocktails were all FANTASTIC!!! I definitely tasted Draft Republic's wickedness. I appreciated everything about this experience....well well done. What a WICKED TIME! I hope there are more speakeasy pop-ups in the near future :-)

Because Draft Republic is a rough place to quantify. The food is pretty good; if going off that alone, this place would easily be four stars in my eyes. But, it's not ... Draft Republic is trying to be a bit closer to like a mini Dave & Buster's (a place I have come pretty close to loathing). With an arcade, a bowling alley, a golfing simulator, a full bar, pretty extensive menu, good music, and a fantastic staff, they really have a lot going for them with a little something to make anyone happy. My own issue deals solely with the cost. Came here with my son, all we did was eat two entrees and an appetizer between us, and did nothing else. With drink and after tax and tip, the cost was well over $90. No games, no play, just burgers (plus fries and poke tacos) for two, costs as much as many Californian's net after a full day of work. When you're used to feeding the whole family for about half as much when going out (or a little more when eating sushi), that price was a bit rough. Still, the food is very good. My son and I each ate The Draft Republic Burger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, very flavorful, and the toppings were high quality. The fries were crisp and salted well. And the side salad wasn't too bad. Both of us ate our entrees and gave it high marks. We had started with the Tres Poke Tacos, where the Tuna was very tasty, steeped in a flavorful marinade, and felt nice and fresh. Definitely a good starter. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous. A lot of space, beautifully furnished, kind of industrial meets art deco with some new age greenery architecture thrown in. I like it a lot. But, as an aging Gen-X'er, who used to go to arcades back in the day, and hates what new arcades have become, the amenities are under appreciated by me. All of that pads the price tag a bit out of what I am willing to pay just for dinner. Which may not be fair to Draft Republic, but that's where it left me.
