Strawberry Waffle
Rachel G.

We were seated right away and were excited looking at the menu. We started off with a peach iced tea which had peach chunks and a sugar rim which made it extra sweet! We also ordered some beignets, which had various fruit toppings with it - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside (personally I like mine a little softer and and little smaller) We then shared a strawberry waffle and a BYO omelette with a side of potatoes! Everything was yummy but probably should have had the waffle first to avoid the sogginess from the strawberry topping. Also I little bit too much whipped cream for my taste, but overall will definitely be happy to return!

I stopped by here with friends on a monday morning and we were greeted and taken to a booth right away. We were provided with drinks and menus and we did not wait too long for our food either which was nice. The food was good, the place is clean and the customer service was great. My french toast lacked flavor which is why i'm giving it 4/5 stars but I would come back.

Soup and salad
Liv L.

I came here for lunch and ordered soup and salad. The soup was good but nothing special on the salad. The service could have been better but we waited several minutes for them to get our orders and served our food. It was definitely a busy lunch time, the place was packed and vibrant. The servers were really nice though.

Absolutely recommend this place. Great hearty brunch food! We picked up a plate of stacked waffles and chicken aling with Cajun Eggs Benedict. Both were very good. We got the potatos in bayou style, they just toss in some bell pepper and onions in the mix. Lots of great selection. We would love to be back to try the rest.

Rare steak- very disappointing

Awful! Very disappointed in this place. It has definitely gone downhill. Not sure why the few times we've been here we always get the same waitress Ruby. She's nice, but not attentive and alway forget things. We came on a weekday around 10am and they weren't busy at all! It should take over 30mins for our food. I waited over 30mins for 1 dish I didn't eat because my steak came out rare! I asked for medium and it was a medium rare- disgusting! Everything here is under season or not even seasoned. We will not be back, very disappointing.

Came here on Valentine's Day and as busy as it was we were seated fairly quick. The food was amazing! I got the banana foster platter and stacked chicken & waffles. Both were pretty big portions and delicious. I also ordered the caramel macchiato hot and loved it. The staff there are friendly and attentive. Plenty of seating and parking.

California Chicken Sandwich
Jenny T.

I came here to get brunch/lunch with a few friends. It was about 11 in the morning on a Sunday and the wait wasn't too bad, maybe about 20 minutes. I ordered the California Chicken Sandwich ($16.99). The sandwich was good but nothing too outstanding. The chicken was a bit bland and not that juicy. The fries were pretty good though, there was a good amount of seasoning on those. There was a lot of food on the plate and I was completely stuffed by the time I finished. The servers did take a while to come by, and sometimes when we requested a couple things, they would only bring back one of the items that we asked for, and we ended up having to ask for the other items again. There were a lot of things on the menu, so I'd be open to trying something different. The stuff that my friends got looked good as well so maybe I'll get something from the skillets or an eggs benedict.

The service was amazing! I wish they offered decaf coffee. My fiancé Fried chicken and waffles were so delicious. I wish I got that instead. My California Benedict was good. Was not a fan of the fried tomato. Would come back again.

Huckleberry's is located in the giant shopping complex in Escondido off of Auto Parkway and I always pass by it. I decided to try it out for a late brunch this weekend and overall, I had a good experience! It's a casual Louisiana inspired breakfast and brunch place that has an extensive menu showcasing skillets, burgers, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, and fish entrees. The food portions are very generous which I appreciate! You'll definitely leave full! The food was tasty. Service was friendly and professional. We got seated immediately upon arrival and our food came out within a reasonable time. There's a large, shared parking lot so no issues there. My one criticism would be that the biscuit was a bit dense and the gravy was not warm. Maybe I'll try the huckleberry muffin next time...

Tom's scramble with chicken fried steak
Traci L.

Visited here for the first time and thought the food was delicious! I had Tom's scramble which was chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs over a biscuit. Also got the potatoes with onions and peppers. The portion was pretty big and I definitely had good amount leftover. Also tried the fried green tomatoes (first time trying!) and thought it was perfectly fried, not too oily, and had a great dipping sauce. The workers greeting us at the front and our waitress were all lovely. However, towards the end of our meal, the worker was cleaning the table while I was still trying to pack my food to go. He cleared our drinks before I was done drinking and just stood there until I finished packing up my food with his huge gray tub just sitting on our table. We had eaten quickly and hadn't even lingered just a little bit. I just don't think he realized how awkward it felt for us.

The Louisiana Omelet
Janna L.

One of my favorite brunch places. Stuffed French toast is not too sweet even though it had generous amount of huckleberry sauce on top. Staffs are very friendly and service was quick.

Bananas Foster Platter with a extra side of grilled Andouille sausage
Loan N.

This place serves up huge portions but the richness was a bit much for me. I had the Bananas Foster French Toast Platter and it was way too sweet and overly buttery. I did enjoyed the grilled Andouille sausage. While the meal was good, it was just too indulgent to finish. Great if you have a major sweet tooth, but I'd prefer something a bit more balance.

Toms Skillet. White sausage gravy over scrambled eggs over chicken fried steak on top of Buttermilk Biscuits. With red potatoes
Vernon J.

Nearly 4 years since my last review of huckleberries. I would like to say that the service continues to be exemplary especially from Ruby she is a blessing in disguise. Once again the Tom's skillet is still amazing you can't go wrong with ordering this menu item and also the steak sandwich is very good according to a friend who recommends it to me. The Ambiance is wonderful with great decorations giving that true Southern Louisiana feeling. If you have time they are open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily and the weather you want breakfast or lunch it is a fantastic value for your money.

They serve a fair variety of sandwiches and other little items to buy such as coffee and cookies. The location is small with about a total of 5 seating areas including both inside, and out. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

The grilled chicken club was a little dry, but it was in a slider version so I imagine that's bound to happen. The cheeseburger slider was good, but not amazing - patty was still cooked enough to be juicy, and it was enjoyable. The fries were yummy, but not out of this world. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. I'm a huge Wicked fan and was excited to see this event advertised on Yelp. This restaurant was the only one in North County I can think of that acknowledged the movie when it was about to be in theaters. First of all, it was easy to get to based on my GPS but kind of challenging to find their parking lot. I ended up finding a 2-hour parking on N. City Drive which was in walking distance. All I was thinking of while walking up to Draft Republic is that this place is massive. Inside, the hostesses verbally instructed me where to go...came across bowling...arcade games...sports on tvs on my way. Behind the curtains, I entered the room in awe. Draft Republic really went ALL OUT!! The Wicked witchy vibe was sooo magical. I loved the beautifuuul Elphaba/Glinda decorations, cleverly creative themed menu option names, actual movie playing in the background, and the take-home momentos. Nick and staff were super wickedly friendly too. The Wicked Bites, Grimmerie Shots and Wickedest Cocktails were all FANTASTIC!!! I definitely tasted Draft Republic's wickedness. I appreciated everything about this experience....well well done. What a WICKED TIME! I hope there are more speakeasy pop-ups in the near future :-)

Because Draft Republic is a rough place to quantify. The food is pretty good; if going off that alone, this place would easily be four stars in my eyes. But, it's not ... Draft Republic is trying to be a bit closer to like a mini Dave & Buster's (a place I have come pretty close to loathing). With an arcade, a bowling alley, a golfing simulator, a full bar, pretty extensive menu, good music, and a fantastic staff, they really have a lot going for them with a little something to make anyone happy. My own issue deals solely with the cost. Came here with my son, all we did was eat two entrees and an appetizer between us, and did nothing else. With drink and after tax and tip, the cost was well over $90. No games, no play, just burgers (plus fries and poke tacos) for two, costs as much as many Californian's net after a full day of work. When you're used to feeding the whole family for about half as much when going out (or a little more when eating sushi), that price was a bit rough. Still, the food is very good. My son and I each ate The Draft Republic Burger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, very flavorful, and the toppings were high quality. The fries were crisp and salted well. And the side salad wasn't too bad. Both of us ate our entrees and gave it high marks. We had started with the Tres Poke Tacos, where the Tuna was very tasty, steeped in a flavorful marinade, and felt nice and fresh. Definitely a good starter. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous. A lot of space, beautifully furnished, kind of industrial meets art deco with some new age greenery architecture thrown in. I like it a lot. But, as an aging Gen-X'er, who used to go to arcades back in the day, and hates what new arcades have become, the amenities are under appreciated by me. All of that pads the price tag a bit out of what I am willing to pay just for dinner. Which may not be fair to Draft Republic, but that's where it left me.
