I'd heard about Pegah's for a while and we finally decided to check it out, hoping for the 4-star experience it's known for. My husband ordered the corned beef hash and it was unappetizing to look at and hard to finish. My waffle was dry all the way through. Both dishes were a letdown. The ambiance wasn't really our thing. Having ads on the tables, especially for dispensaries, felt tacky and out of place. Service was friendly and attentive, no complaints there. One odd thing: the bathroom is accessible through the kitchen, which made for an awkward trip. Overall, a disappointing visit that didn't quite live up to the reputation. read more

This was my first visit to this particular location, I've been to the Vista location a few times and always enjoyed it. I was a little disappointed in my visit to this location. The location was nice and bright with a clean and organized setup in the dining room. Staff were very friendly and offered prompt service. I got an omelet and was surprised on how thin it was considering it was supposed to be three eggs. They must have been very small eggs. Usually I worry about hashbrowns being overcooked but that definitely wasn't a problem this time. There were parts that were very white and almost had an undercooked taste to it. I was also disappointed that they charge an extra $1 for an english muffin instead of toast. I've never experienced an upcharge like that anywhere else but I guess they have their reasons. If I'm in the area, I'll give it another try. I just won't get an omelet. read more

There was a good sized parking lot when I went in the morning with friends. I was expecting just your run of the mill breakfast joint. The restaurant is dated, but it's full of people and there's tons of people coming and going. I ordered a hot tea but on my cup was lipstick from someone else. Stopped in on a whim after trying to stop in a new local spot that was no longer seating without a reservation (boo). Honestly I didn't even know this restaurant was here. We were immediately seated and greeted by friendly wait staff. We had a combo of breakfast and lunch. Large portions but food was sort of bland. I had the tuna melt, which had chunky tuna and celery in it - just meh. The fries were good but the ranch was also very bland. My husband had a French dip which he said lacked flavor and the au jus was tasteless. Very disappointing. My daughter had pancakes which were good. Biscuits and gravy were also good. Our busser Fonzie was friendly and kind and we enjoyed speaking with him after our meal. A nice little local spot. I'd give it another try but stick to breakfast. read more

Definitely a hidden gem, this spot needs to be the next breakfast go to! Entering this establishment I feel the great sense of nostalgia, growing up always getting breakfast with family on those Saturday mornings! You get greeted by anyone near the door and it is self seating. The waitress was very sweet and got our orders in fast! We both opted for Country fries steak, a stable breakfast option. Came out beautifully, I would ask for crisper hash browns but other than that amazing meal. "Old Fashioned Waffle" was interesting but I will continue to pick those Belgium waffles! read more

Came here after the gym with some friends. Breakfast has huge portions at a reasonable price. The Eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly with running yolk on the bacon and English muffin. Delicious spot if you live in the area. They have breakfast and lunch so your set if you wanna grab a quick bite. I stopped in for lunch and could sit anywhere. Got a bowl of chili and their club sandwich. Chili was perfect with some cheese and onions. Classic club is always a favorite of mine. Theirs is tip top and the fries were crispy/tasty. I'll definitely be coming back to try more things. I can only imagine the breakfast foods are good too. Plenty of parking by the 7/11 and the staff are quick to get your order in. I'd say for most of the food it was equal to about what I can cook at home (without having to do all the work haha). The biscuits are the exception - very good, large, square biscuits which are flakey and seasoned nicely. The gravy needed more pepper and seasoning to us, but once added it was fairly good gravy. The food is delicious! 3 family-owned restaurants from the hands of a hard-working man named Fred. Fred happened to be at the Vista location when mt wife and I walked in. We met when he served our food. A disarming smile and personality which I'm sure is spread to his staff in the other restaurants! The breakfast dishes were very good. I will eat lunch there soon. Came here on a Sunday morning and ordered California Benedict and Country Fried Steak and Eggs. I wasn't a huge fan of the California Benedict because of the slice of tomato. Felt like it was just added in there randomly. The tomato was also tangy and overpowered the whole entire Benedict making the other ingredients very bland. Avocado was fresh. Really love how they give you a good portion of it. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Fruits were fresh, clean and sweet. For the country fried steak, it wasn't really a steak. It was more like some beef were packed together and fried in a steak form. The gravy sauce was delicious at first, but it got heavy after the third or fourth bite. Really enjoyed the eggs and the potatoes were good. Server was great. She was attentive and made sure our water was filled. For the restroom, you'll have to go through the kitchen to get there. Much of the food here are classics that you can order at most other diners too. Server was nice but could've been more attentive with getting water and the bill. Country Fried Steak- One of the more special options on the menu, and one of their specialties it seems. The protein is fried and smothered in creamy gravy, and comes with eggs and potatoes on the side. Eggs are seasoned nicely, and the shredded potatoes are crispy. This is a good amount of food for the price as well. 4/5 California Benedict- two eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce sitting on top of English muffin and bacon and tomato. Love that it comes with fresh avocado, but did not like the tomato, which did not go well with the rest of the dish as it was more crunchy and bland rather than juicy and umami. Second time I'm ordering from here. And they messed up the ordered again. I paid $2 for egg whites, they gave me regular eggs. I am lactose intolerant, so I asked for no cheese and no butter. Came here and was so happy to find there was no line to get a table when there was a line at mama kat's. Turns out, this place has way better food than Mama Kat's! Being a San Marcos resident, I have been to Pegah's a few times over the years. I have always been impressed with their customer service and their food. That is, until last Saturday, when I went there for breakfast with my family. As usual their service was great. The server was very attentive and accommodating. My grandson spilled his juice by accident and the server not only cleaned up the spill but also replaced the drink at no cost. Everyone was happy with their food except me. I ordered the pork chops which I thought was a little bland and dry. I should have ordered my GoTo order of steak and eggs. Next time I will. Yes, there will be a next time. read more

I walked in and wasn't sure if it's self seating. The host/cashier station is at the rear of the restaurant. There's counter dining and booths, but no one sat at the counter. I'm not sure if they use it since covid. The service was friendly. I ordered the spicy California skillet. My food was out within 5 to 10 minutes after ordering. It was served with a side of salsa and sour cream. The sour cream was so cold it made my bite of food cold, so I decided not to use it. There's Tabasco and Tapatio on the counter. For it to have jalapeños it wasn't very spicy. The skillet also didn't have much flavor. I was starving and finished every bite. If you're looking for a reasonably priced breakfast spot then I'd give this place a try. There's also no homemade jam, just Smuckers on the table - strawberry, grape, orange marmalade, and apple cinnamon. read more

I wanted to check out this local spot after driving past it a couple of times. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. We came in and made our order, which we were told would take about 15 minutes. It actually only took about 10, and they packed everything to-go nicely, and provided my party of 3 with condiments and utensils. As for the food, I ordered the greek omelet, and it came with a choice of house potatoes or hash, and also came with two slices of toast, which they provide jam for. I opted for the greek omelet because it seemed like a healthier option and it had tons of toppings. It was very easy to eat as well. The plastic cutlery knife was able to slice right through it cleanly. Happy to have discovered this spot and I will come again. read more
