Beautiful restaurant located down an alley in downtown Crossing. I had made a reservation for 2. We arrived and our table was not ready. So we went to the bar for a drink, while awaiting our table. It's glitzy inside this historic building: mahogany bar, bookshelves and chandeliers, this place was buzzing with activity. Its loud, so be ready to speak up. We found a tiny space to stand and sip our original cocktails, but the host led us to our table within 5 minutes. Our server was fantastic. Friendly, attentive and provided direction with the menu. Needed direction because the menu is different areas of smaller, shared plates. Toast? Wasabi Lobster-wasabi mayo, cucumber-wakame salad, ponzu & sakusaku. Excellent! I loved this one. Short Rib Pastrami-smoked beef short rib, beer cheese, house kraut, pickles & candied caraway. Good. Snacks? Baked Oysters "Savannah"-duxbury oysters, lobster porcini cream & parmesan. Excellent. Social Plates? Honey Walnut Shrimp-Crispy Rock Shrimp, honey-walnut sauce, yu choy chili vinaigrette, shrimp chips. Excellent. Seared Halloumi Cheese-charred eggplant, orange blossom honey crispy chickpeas. Very good. A good wine selection to boot. We stayed much longer than anticipated. With each round of ordering, we were pleasantly surprised by each taste combination. This experience bordered on 5 stars, but I will have to go back and give it another try. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The service, ambiance and food/drinks were amazing. Drinks ordered were the Pink+White, Cicada, Passionfruit Mule, and Espresso Martini. Passionfruit Mule was the group favorite but all were well-balanced and yummy. For the food. Oh my gosh, cannot say enough. The 3 of us split five plates. In order of favorites (take with a grain of salt, we loved everything) was the lobster dumplings, tuna crudo, chicken meatballs, tater cubes, and garlic shrimp pita. The pita was more like a big pizza flatbread/pita with toppings, not a stuffed pita. The lobster dumplings while spendy are a must get, the best things I have ever ate. I heard a lot of good things about this place and it met the expectations. The steak tartare is one of the best things I've ever had at a restaurant. The tuna crudo tasted fresh with hints of citrus. The chicken pita was also a favorite. The trumpet mushrooms tasted meaty but was a little too oily for my liking. Also I would pass on the chicken and quinoa meatballs, baked oysters and gulf shrimp. The meatballs were dry on the inside, the oysters were so small, it looked more like a clam and the shrimp was average for the high price point. The cocktails were strong but sweet and fruity. I really like the Blackbird, which kind of tasted like a jolly rancher. Ambience is dark, loud music and tables are very small and close together. The interior is very pretty though and good for pictures. I would definitely return for a special occasion/date night. read more

I think this may be my absolute favorite restaurant ever. Everything was perfection. The entrance is very unassuming, misleading even, because when we were escorted to our table we had zero expectations for the lavish and elegant decor that lay just steps from the hostess table. First time I've walked out at a restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible. I honestly wonder if all the bad reviews are about the same server, who, in our 30 minutes of sitting, had filled our water once. He also did not say a single thing to us the whole night; he simply filled the water, spilling it on the menus, and waltzed away. By that point in time, we were honestly ready to start ordering, but were just shocked by how he ignored us. He seemed to actively avoid making eye contact, and didn't even notice when we left. The table next to us had to ask for their water to be refilled, and he told them about how things had to be "staggered" because they ordered so much. Even the water refill has to be staggered? Ok. At least they ended up getting to order, I guess. I hate tipping wait staff low, and in this case, I just had to leave because I couldn't imagine leaving this server any tip. read more

What a fantastically decorated bar/restaurant! The ambiance is amazing, the drinks great, the bartenders as nice as they come and the food really good. We tried many plates /which are tapas style and they were all really good and flavorful. Not cheap at all, that's the only negative I would say. Got a recommendation for Yvonne's prior to going to a show at the Orpheum. We could not get a table, but we were able to grab a couple seats at the bar (against all odds). The drinks were spot on! Really outstanding martinis. Food was delivered VERY quickly considering how busy they were. And the quality was beyond what we anticipated. Sorry, no pics ... but trust me ... Service fine. Ambience hip. Food can be carby if you don't watch what you order, as several items are served on or with bread/pita/crust. For some reason, instead of honestly stating prices on the menu, they add a "Kitchen Appreciation Charge" to the check. Gotcha! Why they feel the need for deception is a mystery to me. Just raise the prices on the menu. That will not annoy customers nearly as much as a Gotcha! surcharge. read more

I made a reservation online as indicated, no problem. When I tried to cancel it, nobody answers the phone after 7 different attempts to call during the hours they are supposed to be open. No other method of canceling was offered other than to call. I emailed them and am awaiting a confirmation. I hope that works. Last night, we celebrated our family reunion at Yvonne's. Everything from the stunning decor to the incredible food went Beyond all of expectations. However, what absolutely blew our minds was the staff. We would like to personally thank Nick and Queenie. They managed this very busy establishment flawlessly and made the time to come over and chat with us and made us feel at home. A special thank you is also due to Espeana and Olowm. They are truly beautiful inside and out. They made us feel warm and welcome and were made sure that the drinks kept coming. Finally, a very special shout out to our server Signey. This is definitely a young man with a very bright future in hospitality. We never had to ask for a thing because he made sure that everything was perfect. Thank you everyone. Decent food, mediocre service, good service, overpriced. Came here with my boyfriend last night to celebrate my 23rd birthday. We freaked out for a few minutes when we realized after leaving home that they had a dressy dress code, but thankfully it's not strictly enforced or followed. We were prompty led to our table, which was a roomy couch booth set for four. I asked for a cocktail with lavender, no carbonation, and drinkable without a straw. The cocktail was pretty underwhelming. The lavender taste was a bit too subtle, even though they said they had added extra lavender. My boyfriend had the Penicillin. He said it was meh, not strong enough and too sweet. Food was also underwhelming. The octopus was pretty soft and the chickpea fritters nice and crunchy. Lamb ribs were too fatty. Lobster toast was subpar. The toast was weirdly chewy and the lobster didn't taste that fresh. We ordered the Greek doughnuts for dessert. Those were very good. Freshly and lightly fried, and accompanied by some blueberry frozen yoghurt. The candied fruits were not my cup of tea though. They said after that the dessert was on the house because of my birthday. We speny $130 after tax and tip. I would have given three stars for the whole experience, but the free dessert rounds it up to a four. Would not recommend or come back. read more

My family came to visit Boston for the first time so I booked us reservations here, originally for a party of 7 but last minute we had to change it to 9 and they were able to accommodate us (Monday evening). Gorgeous restaurant with amazing staff. Estefania and Cesar made our experience unforgettable!! They were so kind and hospitable! Downstairs was closed for the night but they still allowed us a little mini tour and we were treated to a complimentary serving of rosé as we were celebrating birthdays and an anniversary. Beware of BODY SHAMING bartenders unfortunately. Came to grab a drink with my sister at the bar and a female bartender wouldn't stop commenting on my body making fun of me to a male bartender laughing. Very immature behavior for such a nice restaurant especially as a first time guest here. I was anticipating ordering dinner and ultimately left after one drink because of the constant unprofessional "mean girl" behavior exhibited by these two. Manager said "they'd look into it " but clearly didn't care. I work in this industry and the lack of concern or care told me everything i needed to know about this establishment. How is anyone supposed to feel comfortable if they're going to be attacked for how they look unnecessarily. It's sad in 2024 we still have women degrading other women for no reason other than insecurity and lack of self confidence. Especially as a business woman and owner myself, I was appalled by this behavior and how harmful it could've been to a person who could be possibly struggling. The lack of self awareness and a business that promotes employees displaying this distasteful and crude behavior is disappointing as a guest and a human being in general. I commonly speak highly of The CoJe management group but this has left me astounded. I do not recommend this place to anyone read more

Cool little cocktail bar, with not one but two bars. I came in after wandering around on a Tuesday night and had already ate so didn't really eat anything so I can't attest to food. Just wanted to grab a drink, so did some research and decided to check what the hype is about! This place is really trendy, when you arrive it appears you are in a hair salon...the hostesses open up this door for you and the space is transformed to a different time. The ceilings are lined with beautiful metal carved pieces, there's a bar with multiple chandeliers and another bar that has some tables below it for the super club. This super club area has library type walls surrounding it. I love the feel of the bar and ordered a corpse reviver #2 which has a bit of gin and absinthe, a really good mixture surprisingly. If I hadn't eaten prior I definitely would've saved some room to try some dishes. Btw if you're a lady go check out the ladies room it's pretty ridiculous! As a service employee, my expectations of management at a restaurant are one that is of high caliber. Not only does the management team set the tone of the entire service team, they also should excel upon guest service, experience, and a longing for clientele retention. Unfortunately, Yvonne's has hired a manager, known by Queenie, whose service could only be described as simply deplorable. When last call was announced at the bar, she immediately made her presence known, demanding that all guests close their tabs immediately. Through a negative mindset, she didn't care to know who was in the room nor how much money was spent to incur positive fiscal growth upon the company's standards,. She sat at the end of the bar on her cell phone, tapping away on her personal device, looking up every now and then to verbally remind guests that we should close our tabs immediately. As we had become friendly with our bartender, we were making small talk as we closed our check. However, through the mirrors stationed around the bar area, we watched Queenie gesture a "cut throat" signal to our bartender to cease the conversation and get us out as soon as possible. Never have I experienced such disgusting behavior from a member of management at a restaurant. After spending a large amount of money at a bar, it was quite sad to see that our business had been sanctioned to a timeline per last call, not even following the immediate closure of normal business hours. As a regular at Yvonne's, which normally serves well rounded cocktails, delicious food, and a phenomenal service team, I have been left with a poor taste in my mouth from such disgusting behavior by a member of the management team. read more

Yvonne is one of the amazing places in Boston downtown. It has cozy vibe to it. The interior is classy and is perfect for the romantic date night. Tunisian chicken was unique flat bread. Shrimp 65 was spicy and tangy. I enjoyed the chicken and quinoa meatballs the most. Drink menu has good list of cocktails and wines. Last but not the least the dessert. Macron ice cream sandwich is one of best desserts I have had in Boston. Ps. Interior is covid safe. Shields in between the tables and mask when ever necessary. read more

I already directly contacted the restaurant, but no one has gotten back to me and it's been 3 weeks. I'm writing what I wrote in my email to them. I went to Yvonne's to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and was heavily disappointed. Firstly, we were seated and did not get greeted by our server until 10 minutes in; we didn't even receive waters. When our waiter approached us, he did not state his name or greet us, all he said was "what are your orders." The food arrived at a great time, and the food was good, but the service was almost disrespectful to us. I had told the restaurant about celebrating a birthday, but somehow the restaurant (or waiter) forgot about it. When we were finished eating, the waiter immediately said "I will get the check for you" and didn't even ask us how dinner was. We paid the check and left immediately. When we walked out of the restaurant, the hostesses were on their phone and didn't realize we were leaving until I said "thank you" while I was walking out. I had high expectations of Yvonne's as I first researched and entered the restaurant. I hope that they really do take these critiques into consideration as they serve more customers. read more
