When I think of hibachi, I think of Benihana, which I feel is not really authentic Japanese but Americanized food. Kind of like Panda Express for Chinese food. But I trust this friend so we went with them. My wife and my wedding anniversary was coming up so we told them and they prepared a special setting with rose petals and also a special dessert. So nice!! Omakase means to leave it up to the chef on what to eat and the chef's selections were amazing! Lobster, sweet shrimp, Uni, A5 wagyu, fatty tuna and other delicious selections. We also had a sake they recommended, which went so well with the food. The complimentary dessert was probably my favorite. All in all, a great meal. We just had omakase at Inatome recently and if i had to pick the best, I would probably say Inatome but it is very close. Sasa is much easier to get to so if you don't want to drive to Valley Stream, go to Sasa. TIP: make sure you make reservations in advance because they have to procure the seafood for the omakase.

I should have known when I saw the place was empty on a Friday night. We were one of three tables occupied. I had the sweet heart roll. It look pretty. But had little flavor. On a positive note, service was good, the salad dressing was tasty, and the shrimp were large and fresh.

When we arrived, we sat at our outdoor table for at least 10 minutes without being acknowledged by any waitstaff. Once our waiter finally came over, we placed our entire order right away. I mentioned that it was my milestone birthday and later asked if he could take a quick photo of us, and he simply said no. He also barely checked in on our table throughout the meal. The busboys, however, were wonderful--attentive, friendly, and honestly provided the best service of the evening. The menu was very heavy for the summer. Ordered the filet and it came with Brussels and mashed. We live on Long Island with the best produce. Lean into the fresh summer veggies. The lobster tail was so salty. It tasted like a salt lick. There also seemed to be an issue with the outdoor tables, as at least three glasses broke during our dinner. We spent a significant amount of money and chose The Lake House because we wanted to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, nothing about the service made the evening feel special. For a milestone birthday, it was incredibly disappointing. I don't think we'll be back.

Rustic Root is a…read morefarm-to-table restaurant, and I love that they write who they partner with on their giant chalkboard. I made a reservation for two on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was pretty busy, but they had our table ready even though we arrived 30 minutes early. Our server was Evelyn, and she was so sweet and she helped us when we were trying to decide between two desserts and three appetizers. We ordered: - Spring Salad (5/5) this tasted so good with the fresh mango, the snap peas, and the carrot ginger dressing. - Faroe Islands Salmon (5/5) I only tasted the rice, and not the salmon itself, but the rice was so good, and I just kept on stealing more from the plate. - Roasted-Half Chicken (4/5) This was my own entrée, and I loved how the chicken was crispy, and I also really liked the garlic mashed potatoes, but the only thing that I did not think worked well with the dish was the swiss chard. I think it would've tasted better with spinach. - Strawberry Cheesecake (4/5) this was surprisingly very light for a cheesecake, we ended up finishing all of it, and the whipped cream was really good. The strawberries were not my favorite, I kind of wish that they were just fresh slices of strawberries, but to each their own. All in all, this was a super solid meal, there's plenty of parking, and the restaurant is quite spacious, and the single bathrooms are also pretty large.

Unfortunately, the meat had an oddly gamey flavor that immediately raised questions about the quality or freshness. The sauce itself was decent, but it wasn't enough to save the ribs. For entrées, we ordered the steak frites and the half chicken. The steak was maybe a 5/10, and that's being generous. The meat itself was underwhelming, and the accompanying steak sauce actually made matters worse rather than complementing it. Even stranger was the side salad, which somehow had a noticeable fishy smell and taste--definitely not something you expect from a fresh salad. The half chicken was easily the biggest disappointment. It had an unpleasant flavor that came across as spoiled or rotten, to the point where it was difficult to eat. The potatoes alongside it were about a 4/10--bland and forgettable. Overall, much of the food had the taste and texture of something that had been frozen and reheated rather than freshly prepared. Ironically, the fries may have been the best thing we ate all night. Then again, fries are a pretty low bar to clear--and thankfully, they managed not to mess those up. The restaurant was also a bit chilly inside, which didn't help the experience. And on a less serious note, the Diet Coke deserves a mention. Put it next to a McDonald's Diet Coke--and we all know McDonald's is the gold standard--and this one is just sad. I don't enjoy leaving overly negative reviews, but when you're paying restaurant prices, there should be a baseline expectation of freshness and quality. Between the questionable ribs, fishy salad, poor steak, and especially the chicken, this meal fell well below that standard. Food: 3/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Fries: Somehow the MVP

Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the food takes far longer than expected. Takeout orders are routinely 15 minutes or more past the quoted pickup time, which is frustrating when you're planning your day around their estimate. Service has also been inconsistent. The waitstaff often seems disorganized, and communication regarding delays is lacking. I understand restaurants get busy, but after multiple visits, the same problems keep occurring. The food is decent, but not enough to make up for the long waits and repeated service issues. After giving this restaurant several opportunities, I don't see myself return

We arrived about an hour prior to closing, there were still plenty of people dining. Our server Patrick A+ he was so knowledgeable about the menu - and just seemed really happy, even with it being the end of his shift. All his suggestions were spot on. He made sure to tell us about the restaurants charitable donation program (which I feel makes me want to support this business even more) as it neared closing time - we told Patrick we would hurry up - he told us take our time and not to feel rushed. Ok the food, was so good and the portions were filling. This will for sure be on my rotation
