Let's face it, there isn't really any good place to eat on campus. Simons Center Cafe is one of the better places. However expect to pay a premium for mediocre food. The prefix lunch menu is ~$20, and there's a nice selection of bottled cream sodas, sparkling water, etc. But honestly this is wayyy out of a student's budget for a meal.

Love this place. Great Food. Must point out that a worker Kayla, who answers the phone, is wonderful. Very nice, professional and upbeat.

In addition to the aesthetic of the food, I rather admire the aesthetic of the place. Together, it makes for a pleasant dining experience.

From the moment we walked in, everyone was warm and welcoming, and the hospitality remained consistent throughout the entire visit. We started with appetizers. The meatball was absolutely delicious sauce and perfectly seasoned and impressively large. The crab meat topped artichoke was hands down the most delicious artichoke I've ever had. It was a flattened artichoke topped generously with crab meat, and the flavors were outstanding. For pasta, we ordered the Bolognese and the penne alla vodka. The Bolognese wasn't your typical red sauce -- it was more of a rich brown meats sauce, unique and incredibly flavorful. The penne alla vodka was outstanding, made with fresh pasta and a perfectly balanced sauce. For our entrées, we had the chicken parmesan and the veal chop. The chicken parmesan featured fresh, tender chicken topped with delicious mozzarella, and the sauce was out of this world. The veal chop, served in a delicious mushroom sauce, was cooked perfectly and is a dish I would highly recommend. To finish, we had pistachio gelato and a blood orange sorbet (a special that evening). Both desserts were amazing and the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The service was impeccable -- our waitress Shanna was amazing, attentive, and friendly plus helpful. We were given a cozy table, and even the bathrooms were thoughtfully stocked with washcloths to dry your hands. There's truly nothing negative to say. Highly, highly recommend this restaurant!

A beautiful lunch experience this afternoon, 2/7/26 for my sister's birthday…read more We made a reservation because we heard that you needed one. The seating area is very small so I would recommend making one just in case. The indoor is beautiful. Everything was clean and looked new. We pretty much split everything, 3 apps and 3 pastas. The best app was the risotto (technically a side) and the beets with feta. The 2 best pastas were the gnocchi and the corn-corn pasta is not the proper name but I can't remember what it's actually called! The service was fast, on point and helpful the entire time. This is one of those places that would be for a special occasion because it's expensive but the experience is worth it.

They don't take reservations. After about 10 minutes my friend and I plus 3 teens (my kids and a friend) were starving and Schnitzels was loud and crowded. We headed a few doors down to Sweet Mama's. Seated immediately. My friend and I shared the steak with penne dinner special and a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. My daughter ordered penne with butter off the kids menu. My son got a turkey burger and his friend got a grilled chicken sandwich on a hero instead of a wrap. Now the good -- portions were huge! My son could barely fit his burger in his mouth and it also had a half avocado on it. They didn't skimp. Steak with penne was delicious and so was the Cobb salad. We all shared off each other's plates because everything looked so amazing. Now the bad. My daughter's pasta was elbows, not penne as indicated on the menu. Not a catastrophe but she was looking forward to penne. Then - my son's friend put some ketchup on his plate for his fries. It was ,.. not red but brown. The bottle had an 8/25 expiration. We are in April 2026. We told the server and she said it's because it's the "simply ketchup" with no artificial dyes. She offered him ketchup packets "with fake dyes" but by that point he lost his appetite for fries. We grabbed ketchup from another table, same brand, Heinz Simply. You can see the difference in color. We showed the server and she acted annoyed. I told her we didn't want anyone getting sick on that ketchup and pointed out the expiration date. She rolled her eyes and said "oh I'll just throw it away." She kind of had an attitude and didn't even apologize. So that's why 4 stars. We'd go back but request not to have that server. The food is fantastic but watch your ketchup! If someone put it on a burger it would have been ruined.

Not terrible, but also not memorable…read more Sweet Mama's is a hybrid concept tucked away in the adorable Stony Brook Village. On one end, ice cream. In the middle, restaurant, and towards the back, a bar. Surprisingly at 11am, for a table of four, we waited about 10 mins for a table. We ordered a variety of things, from soup, to bennys and a mimosa flight. The mimosa flight was very cute but mine ended up tasting just like white wine. The real disappointment imo was the Belgian Waffle. Now I know, part of this is my fault, for expecting more than what the description laid out. But for $12 I got one crispy and tender waffle with powdered sugar and that was it. No side of fruit, no home fries, nothing. Everyone else enjoyed their food, which I was happy about! And service was wonderful. But for $12 for one waffle, this place may be a biiiiiiit overpriced for my liking.

The apps included: chickpea fries, Caesar salad, spicy tuna crispy rice, French onion soup, and jumbo shrimp cocktail. Entrees included: tavern burger, Monterey chicken club, cobb salad, fish & chips, roasted cauliflower 'steak', and lobster roll (either cold or warm). I went with the chickpea fries, which were very crispy on the outside and extremely creamy on the inside. It is coated in a layer of chickpea powder and then fried. It was very interesting and i'd order this again. It paired well with the harissa aioli. For my entrée, I got the beer-battered fish and chips. My fries were much thicker than everyone else's, and they also came with potato chips that tasted oily. I didn't love the fish and chips and wouldn't order this again, but my friends enjoyed their burgers, shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, and roasted cauliflower steak. Service was good. The wait staff checked on us many times to make sure everyone got their food and that our water cups were full. The outside of Mirabelle is beautiful, and we saw it being set up for a baby shower. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and serving up amazing meals at each. Choose from 5 different gravies and then your schnitzel. Traditionally served with pork or veal, but they do have chicken or eggplant as well! I went with the classic Weinershnitzel which is traditionally served with veal schnitzel and served with brown gravy. Lindsey got the Chicken Rahmschnitzel which is schnitzel topped with a creamy white reisling-infused mushroom gravy. Both were filled with flavor and we were very impressed! All schnitzel is served with spätzle, seasonal vegetables, and red cabbage. This was the definition of a comfort meal that. We started with their Bavarian Cheese Board, and classic German appetizers - potatoes pancakes paired with this insane apple butter, and potato dumplings with your choice of gravy. We loved the vibe in there. Great pub style feel but also nice indoor and outdoor eating. Our server Eden was amazing and such a great help! We truly loved this place and we can wait to go back!
