    Chocolate lava cake!
    Jessica K.

Absolutely adorable, homey, warm, and cozy inside. Small, quiet, and intimate, it's a great spot for dates. Staff was so friendly. Food was outstanding. The chicken stuffed with pomegranate was absolutely phenomenal, so many flavors in their jeweled rice as well. Persian food is amazing that way. And the chocolate lava cake was lava'ing. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Last night. Another perfect dining experience. The food was amazing as usual, everyone loved what they ordered. From the appetizers to dessert, everything came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Water glasses were constantly filled, and we brought our own wine which they uncorked for us. Pretty much ate everything. Always a great dining experience at this little gem of a restaurant.

I celebrated my 70th birthday at Basil Café and words cannot express how great everything turned out. We were 14 on a Saturday afternoon and Ray, the owner, made us a beautiful table. Nicole and Ray were our servers and their attention to small details was easily seen. My friends and family loved everything that was served. Thank you, Basil Café for making my 70th birthday and exceptional day! ...Jo Magri

Was greeted by name by a man at the front who seemed like he could have been the manager or owner. We called 30 mins earlier for a reservation and I gave him my name. The place was cozy and quaint. Nicole came over right away to greet us and a man came and gave us water quickly. It was BYOB and they opened our wine for us and poured it right away. The food was delicious... but I have had better lamb skewers. Some of the pieces of lamb were hard to cut and were a little chewy.... but I felt that the review was more a 4.7 so still had to give it five stars. Everything else in this place was great.

    MEDITERRANEAN SEA BASS (Bronzini)

Went here a few nights ago with the family. This is my third time here, they still keep thriving. Service was absolutely excellent. Our waiter was very attentive. Ambiance is cozy. Food was very good. I was trying to be on the healthy side so I had the shrimp as my appetizer which was better than I expected it would be. For my entree I tried the sea bass. I didn't have any of the bread they put out in the beginning but my family devoured it. Overall was a great meal and I would certainly come back again.

My visit was to get information about their Bridal Shower packages. As you walk in, my first impression was charming, no question this would be a perfect place for my daughters shower! Since Easter is next month, the restaurant was already decorated over the top for it! My supervisor at work has dined at The Country House during Christmas and no exaggeration, it is somewhere I could imagine you would see in a fearure film Holiday movie. Not one stone is left unturned, I saw some pictures and they were just beautiful! My appointment was with the owner, a very gracious man who obviously knows how to throw a celebration....detail, detail, detail!! You receive soup to nuts, the menu is superb! I was so impressed and excited, I wanted this so bad for my daughter, until he advised what the cost would be per person. Unfortunately for me, it was way too much over my budget, it was literally double the cost of anywhere else I have been to so far! But, I can absolutely tell you this, if I could afford it, no question my daughters shower would have been held at The Country House! I am going to absolutely dine here for an occasion one day, so I can review an actual experience next time!

But if that isn't available, you have to find a spot in the lot and then find the inconvenient sign with a QR code at a $1/hour. The bar was busy when we arrived. We were seated at a table near the windows and were able to see the amazing sunset, as well as the ferry, which both arrived and departed several times during our meal. Our server was Destiny, who was very nice and did her job well. We had ordered some cocktails which took a very long time because there was only 1 bartender attending to the crowd. As for appetizers, we chose the mozzarella steak, the garlic and herb mussels and the cauliflower bites. All were served beautifully and tasted good as well. We also asked for bread and a loaf was served warm with olive oil and a half WELL roasted garlic bulb (most likely used for decoration) but it should have been roasted a lot less for it to be used as a spread. Dinner was the steak frites, twin lobster tails and golden glaze salmon. The steak was served with a salsa verde, the lobster was accompanied by a small gravy boat of drawn butter, a half corn cob and 4 roasted baby potatoes. The salmon, was my dish and was crispy and tasty, served over broccolini stalks and purple forbidden rice. Dessert took a while to come out and we were worried that we wouldn't get back to our car for the expiration of our time. It worked out. 2 of us ordered chocolate cake and I had the cheesecake. The portions were huge! I think what took so long was that they had to open up a new cake because 1 slice was warm and fudgy, while the other was more solid and dense. Not a problem, still delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

I think it's fair to leave a review after 4 dinner visits with family…read more Limited menu in my opinion, not enough single serving steaks for a chop house. Not enough fish options. It's a common menu for downtown Port Jefferson RECOMMEND: twin tails, dad reports perfectly cooked. raw bar, fresh and nicely presented, calamari app beautifully done and love the spicy fried cherry touch. Love the roasted garlic clove served with the bread. Sides of asparagus and smashed goldies are consistently spot on. DO NOT RECOMMEND short ribs. It's a LOOOONG SINGLE rib. Not what locals expect. Too much gristle. This dish is MUCH better at Nantucket's or Culper. BP should take it OFF the menu. Pork chop was tough. Filet mignon was tough and bland. Branzino was bland. Culper's overdoes salt, BP is light on seasoning. That said, branzino better butterflied and cordon bleu quality at Culper whereas at BP, skin was soggy, not crispy. As a native New Englander, I test all chowders. Everywhere. BP New England was so underpopulated by diced taters or clams, there was NOTHING in it. Flavor was ok but if you know your chowders, this won't work for you. Best local New England is at Nantucket's and best Manhattan; PJ Lobster. SERVICE, good by most, better by some. Steak knives are DULL. Don't wait 5 minutes before bringing salt and pepper? All Staff must use crumb scrapers, if one does it, they all should? Staff is well dressed and professional. GM is super personable and attentive, I will continue to patronize, my dad LOVES the harbor view which is money in the bank for this restaurant. OMG PLEASE DITCH the plastic flowers. IMMEDIATELY. I don't dine in nail salons LOL. THANK YOU.

Popped into this lovey, wood polished establishment for lunch and ordered up crispy juicy coconut shrimp app along with a bowl of lobster bisque soup to start. The soup was creamy and delicious with big lobster chunks, not having to hunt for it or just tasting seafood broth here ;) Both came out quick and were on point. Personally followed that up with a hot a buttery lobster roll. It was fresh and juicy even before adding a bit more butter. They serve it up on a proper roll that was slightly toasted but soft with each bite. My Mr had two of the juiciest lobster tails with cole slaw and a garden salad. Sadly couldn't stay to try out a dessert since we had the baby wanting their liquid lunch too, but know the wait staff was super sweet and quick getting all that was needed and asked for super timely. *Noted: Street and municipal parking lot available. I was so disappointed given the reviews and the promising menu. The lobster dishes were underwhelming, especially the lobster Mac and cheese. The flavor was just a regular baked Mac but with pieces of lobster claw in it. We came during a cooler time of year, Feb. 2025 so that explains why the restaurant was quite empty. Service was good and our waitress was very friendly. However, for the pricing, there were not enough unique items to try. I noticed on the menu there was sushi options. But we didn't order. The lobster bisque was a tad salty. And the fried seafood platter my friend and I shared was good at first bite. However, everything started to taste very one note. I would pass on this place unless it's the right season.

The staff kept things moving even though the restaurant was packed and they were always quick with recommendations and explanations for anyone new to the whole boil bag experience. There were a couple of moments where things took a bit longer than expected but the team always made up for it with great attitudes and genuine effort.
