Chocolate lava cake!
Jessica K.

Absolutely adorable, homey, warm, and cozy inside. Small, quiet, and intimate, it's a great spot for dates. Staff was so friendly. Food was outstanding. The chicken stuffed with pomegranate was absolutely phenomenal, so many flavors in their jeweled rice as well. Persian food is amazing that way. And the chocolate lava cake was lava'ing. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Last night. Another perfect dining experience. The food was amazing as usual, everyone loved what they ordered. From the appetizers to dessert, everything came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Water glasses were constantly filled, and we brought our own wine which they uncorked for us. Pretty much ate everything. Always a great dining experience at this little gem of a restaurant.

I celebrated my 70th birthday at Basil Café and words cannot express how great everything turned out. We were 14 on a Saturday afternoon and Ray, the owner, made us a beautiful table. Nicole and Ray were our servers and their attention to small details was easily seen. My friends and family loved everything that was served. Thank you, Basil Café for making my 70th birthday and exceptional day! ...Jo Magri

Annoying girl who gave a thumbs up :) She was pretty messy

Was greeted by name by a man at the front who seemed like he could have been the manager or owner. We called 30 mins earlier for a reservation and I gave him my name. The place was cozy and quaint. Nicole came over right away to greet us and a man came and gave us water quickly. It was BYOB and they opened our wine for us and poured it right away. The food was delicious... but I have had better lamb skewers. Some of the pieces of lamb were hard to cut and were a little chewy.... but I felt that the review was more a 4.7 so still had to give it five stars. Everything else in this place was great.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA BASS (Bronzini)

Went here a few nights ago with the family. This is my third time here, they still keep thriving. Service was absolutely excellent. Our waiter was very attentive. Ambiance is cozy. Food was very good. I was trying to be on the healthy side so I had the shrimp as my appetizer which was better than I expected it would be. For my entree I tried the sea bass. I didn't have any of the bread they put out in the beginning but my family devoured it. Overall was a great meal and I would certainly come back again.

The atmosphere is very pleasant, warm, and classy. The Labneh is a great starter to get for the table and my favorite entree is the ground beef koobideh with either the basmati rice or fries. In general I typically skip dessert wherever I go but at Shiraz I really enjoy the saffron ice cream. My family and I always have a great time at Shiraz and look forward to coming back again and again.

The stuffed feta dates were the good balance of sweet and savory, and the eggplant dip was incredibly smooth and rich without feeling heavy. A little extra seasoning could go a long way with the dip! For mains, the salmon was beautifully cooked and well-seasoned, and the lamb shank was a standout--tender, deeply flavorful, and comforting in the best way. The falafel had a great crisp on the outside while staying soft inside. You can really tell they put care into each dish. What made the night extra special was the birthday surprise: the sweetest baklava presentation that felt so warm and personal. It was such a thoughtful touch. We also ended the night with cappuccinos, hot chocolate, and an affogato (not pictured), which were the perfect cozy finish. Overall, Shiraz Kitchen strikes a great balance between elevated and welcoming. It's the kind of place that feels just as right for a celebration as it does for a relaxed dinner. Would absolutely come back.

Updated review! Still going after all these years!…read more This time for dinner. We got an appetizer platter which was fantastic but very pricey, if I'm remembering right it was $36ish and just because of the price I would not order it again. We also ordered the obligatory kebabs and cherry rice. Of course we loved them. For the first time ever we tried some desserts. I just ordered the oddest sounding thing. Falooda. Now I'm dreaming of eating it again! Rose/Lemon ice with little noodles! There was also some tart cherries in juice on the side and a lemon wedge. The waitress was so nice, she had to explain how to eat it. Just dump the cherries on top of the ice & noodles and a squeeze of lemon. It was delicious. Best dinner I've had in a while!

The combination platter is a great way to get a taste of a variety of meats. The barg is marinated beef that is so soft and tender, it's truly delicious, the jujeh is chicken that is big pieces and is so juicy, and the Koobideh is ground beef that has so much flavor. The albaloo polo rice is my absolute favorite. The sweet and sour cherries, almonds, and pistachios compliments the basmati rice so well. It is my favorite rice hands down! I can eat a whole plate for myself, since it's so light and fluffy. Service is great, the wait staff is accommodating, and the food comes out quickly. The ambiance is nice as well. Plenty of seating, and has a nice view of Main Street. I always enjoy eating at Ravagh. Plenty of food, and I never leave hungry!

The atmosphere is cozy, elegant, and inviting -- exactly the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, whether you're there for a quiet dinner or celebrating with friends. The quality of the food was outstanding across the board. I ordered the Sultani Kebab, which was perfectly grilled, beautifully seasoned, and incredibly tender -- every bite melted in my mouth. My friend had the Lamb Shank, and it was equally phenomenal: slow-cooked to perfection, falling off the bone, and bursting with rich, authentic Persian flavors. The saffron rice was fluffy and fragrant, the bread was fresh and warm, and even the appetizers and salads showed real care and attention to detail. We literally cleaned our plates -- not a grain of rice left behind! What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. Musa, the manager, is in a league of his own. Despite the restaurant being absolutely packed on the night we visited, he handled everything with grace, professionalism, and a genuine smile. He made sure we were seated quickly, checked in on us throughout the meal, and made every single guest feel like a VIP. Musa and his team are a powerhouse -- incredibly strong, well-coordinated, attentive, and passionate about what they do. You can tell they take real pride in their work, and that energy radiates throughout the entire restaurant. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions, the premium quality of the ingredients, and the top-tier service. It's rare to find a place that nails all three -- food, ambiance, and hospitality -- but Ravagh absolutely does. My friends and I left feeling completely satisfied, well-fed, and already planning our next visit. If you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine in a warm, welcoming setting with a team that truly cares, Ravagh is the place. A huge thank you to Musa and the entire staff for making our evening so memorable. We'll definitely be back -- and we'll be bringing more friends with us!

Delicious from start to finish!…read more A colleague recommended Ravagh for a team dinner in the Chelsea location and I am so grateful we came here. To drink, I ordered the Tehrani Mule; a take on the moscow with a house made ginger lime juice. 8/10; a tad watery. We decided to go family style with ordering and chose the mediterranean salad, kotlet, and falafel to start. The falafel was perfectly crisp with a slightly smoky outer crust that added really great texture and flavor. A bit dry tho -- Needed the hummus and Mezze Platter to dress it up a little. Salad was refreshing, crispy and a great palette cleanser across the table. The combo platter + mixed rice was fabulous. Chicken was tender and came right off the bone (something I'm new to but it was good!). It came with a side of tzatziki and persian zhoug (?) - a minty and herby chutney that just added another layer to the aromatics of the dish. Although the rice was great, it was a really large portion even for the group of 5. It would've been nice to have the option to split to a half portion of vegetables or different grain to balance quantity. Overall 8.9/10 - Definitely worth a visit with a group for business dinner or catching up on a friend's night out. The service is great, everyone is super attentive and you can really feel that the food with made with love. So glad I tried this place and I'll be back to give their dolmeh and dessert a taste!

It really hit the spot since I haven't been feeling very good lately. We shared an appetizer of falafels. To be honest, it was a bit too dry for me. It's become a reliable stop whenever you're craving authentic Persian food done well. One thing I've always appreciated here is the little touches. The warm bread they bring out is wonderful, and if you know to ask, they'll sometimes bring lentils as well -- a comforting start to the meal that feels very traditional. The meats are always fresh and beautifully seasoned, which is exactly what you hope for when ordering Persian kebabs. They recently renovated the Roslyn Heights location, and the space now feels very modern and polished. It's definitely an upgrade visually. That said, the dining room is a bit on the smaller side, and the tables sit fairly close together -- close enough that you might hear your neighbor's conversation. The Huntington location has a more relaxed, family-style Persian feel, while Roslyn feels more contemporary. Service has always been thoughtful. During our visit, we accidentally dropped a fork and the staff immediately replaced it without hesitation. Small gestures like that go a long way. What also makes Ravagh special is its place in the Roslyn Heights community. Located in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood on Long Island, it's nice to see a restaurant serving authentic halal Persian cuisine and welcoming such a diverse crowd. It adds something meaningful to the local dining scene. The spices and flavors are always the highlight. Desserts could perhaps be elevated a bit more, but the overall experience -- from the kebabs to the hospitality -- keeps people coming back. A lovely dinner spot on Long Island that continues to represent Persian cuisine with consistency and care.
