Just finished having dinner and had to write a review immediately. The interior of this restaurant is classy, upscale rustic. Someone paid a lot of attention to details as it is beautiful. Rick was our server and he was knowledgeable, personable and we had him all to ourselves until it started getting busy. This was truly an amazing dining experience. Started out the evening with the white sangria (sublime - not too sweet & very refreshing), a Pink Moon (extremely tasty with a little smoke) & a Kentucky Vanilla Cream Ale (excellent beer). Next up we ordered the goat & beet salad (lightly dressed with plenty of beets). The prosciutto flatbread had arugula, lots of prosciutto and very delicious. Next up we had the octopus. Came into the Stone Goat on Friday for lunch. It was very quiet and we sat at the high tops in the bar area. Love the fact that happy hour is 12-7! Came to catchup with some friends and enjoy some drinks and apps. We were highly disappointed they were out of the looking eggplant but we opted for the pretzel and a cheese board at first. It was a rocky start because I think we were being taken care of by the bartender by it ended off fine. We had to ask for the apple chutney that came with the pretzel otherwise, it was a regular pretzel. The apple chutney which was forgotten at first really made the pretzel. It was fantastic. I opted for the Lavender fizz drink and my friends had the black cherry Cosmo and some wine. They were all delicious. As far as the meat and cheese board, it's extremely overpriced and nothing special so I'd definitely skip that. $48 we spent and it had a few pieces of manchego, goat cheese (which we opted for the lavender honey which was delicious) an a few pieces of prosciutto and soppressata. We ended with the red pepper dip which was great and the prosciutto flatbread which was also great. It was a really great time and I'd definitely come back. For Mother's Day the experience felt rushed. There was a smaller menu (which was fine just wish we knew about it before hand) and we were discussing what to get for dessert when our server Nate just dropped the bill off without any questions about dessert or our experience. The steak was chewy but Nate didn't come by to check. Food came out in awkward stages. Not a terrible experience but just not what we've had before. The inside has a nice modern look, but the beer garden out back is where it's at ! It's super open, chill, and perfect for hanging out. Great crowd and a fun atmosphere without feeling too crowded. We tried a few drinks -- the pumpkin wheat beer was really good and super smooth, and the boozy coffee was delicious (definitely recommend if you like something a little sweet and cozy). Met some friends for lunch and it happened to be happy hour so we sat in the bar area. We ordered the blooming eggplant and the holiday pretzel but unfortunately they were out of eggplant-such a bummer! The pretzel was supposed to come with rosemary butter and apple chutney but it was basically a plain pretzel, we had to ask for the chutney which turned out to be very good. We also ordered a charcuterie board with the prosciutto, sopressata, manchego and the lavender honey goat cheese. The goat cheese was very good but overall the board was extremely chincy for $48 with the one pita cut 4 ways. Might as well go down the road to s&s and buy it yourself. We also got the prosciutto flatbread and the red pepper dip and they were both pretty tasty. We used some of the bread dippers for the cheese board since the one little pita didn't go far. I got a black cherry Cosmo and a lavender gin to drink and both were good. The decor is much nicer than the name would make you think but the service was basically non existent. read more

We tried a bunch of the apps on our first visit, and we liked some more than others, but we do recommend the wings, they were great. I had high hopes for the Tuna Cigars, but my fiancee didn't care too much for them. The pretzel was delicious, and the beer flight I got was spot on. The Hummus plate didn't have enough Pita on it, they shouldn't charge an extra 4 bucks for like 3 pieces of Pita, just give ppl the bread. Great spot! The outdoor area/beer garden is a great vibe! The food from the food truck is honestly amazing! The Korean steak sandwich and Philly cheese steak fries are 10/10. We were there for my birthday last week. I was mainly there for the beer. I had a porter which was great. I ordered the steak which included a rice cake and refried beans. The steak was very good but the rice cake was as hard a brick. My wife ordered the branzino which included cauliflower purée and carrots and corn with some tangerines. The fish also had several bones which made it impossible to eat. The corn was like eating pebbles. The tangerines were good. When we informed the waiter that we were disappointed with our food, he didn't offer any kind of compensation. I would recommend the beer but not the food. read more

We sat down, ordered drinks and then when ready we ordered our meals. The Burrata and Prosciutto salad was absolutely delicious. The Miso Baked Halibut was a very nice healthy serving with delicious flavor. The short rib was good but rather a small serving. The special - Trout had a great depth of flavor but fish was just okay. The special - Mushroom Truffle soup could have been hotter but otherwise very delightful. For dessert, the cinnamon coffee cake was huge and scrumptious. The gelatos (Tahitian vanilla bean, double chocolate chunk and Himalayan salted caramel) were all very smooth and enjoyable however rather a small scoop. Overall, the evening was nice but the noise needs work, and the portions could have been a little bit more aligned with the rest of the menu. Came here for Valentine's day, the first for my boyfriend and I. The atmosphere was nice, a little cramped but that's to be expected on a holiday. We looked at the menu prior to our dinner so we had an idea of what we were interested in however, nothing we were interested in was on the 'Valentines Day Specialty' menu and this was not advised when we made reservations. We settled on a salad and the 'blooming eggplant' .. The salad was basic, the eggplant was overly sweet I understand they used hot honey but typically you would want to balance out the sweet with a salt or an acid for a savory appetizer dish. For the entree we ordered the ribeye steak and pesto pasta. The ribeye was overcooked, under-seasoned and nearly half was all grizzle, for $60. Disgusting. The pasta was bland and dry, if you don't season pasta water, the pasta will be bland no matter how much seasoning you add after which, I had to ask for salt and pepper. Still was not worth the wait nor the price... When advising the staff of our dissatisfaction with the food, they were arrogant and dismissive. We will not be coming back to The Stone Goat ... Thankfully our Valentine's day was not completely ruined as we were able to get a last minute table at another local restaurant. read more

From the moment I Walked into this beautifully styled restaurant I knew I was in for a Special evening, the ambience was warm and inviting, with exposed brick wall, goat pictures on the walls, a piano men playing through out the evening. Overall a very poor first impression. Came on Monday night, there were 4 other tables. First, they were out of Diet Coke (weird), so ordered Coke which took a while to come. Then we inquired about the vegetarian options as mentioned on the menu but our waitress was unsure. She checked for me, we asked for a few more minutes with the menu. In any town, this would probably be the place to go, but fortunately St James has some really great restaurants that I would probably recommend going rather than the Stone Goat. However, It was still a rather good experience. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the ambiance was nice. I would have liked to have a little more of a waiting area as only one small party could fit in front of the hostess stand and the rest have to be in a closed vestibule. The Drinks: they have an extensive wine bottle list, yet only a few glasses. I couldn't really find any cocktail that piqued my interest as they were kinda weird (tequila in an old fashion?) And I unfortunately was not a fan of my Europa drink. They messed up my wife's margarita but I took a sip and generally liked it. The food: finally an elegant place that has good portion size. I don't understand why restaurants skimp out on cheap side dishes like rice, pasta or potatoes just for visual purposes. My wife loved her salmon on top of miso noodles and I really enjoyed my crescent duck. Fabulous job. The place: I am cautious of this places success as they have had so many different restaurants in this location, but I am rooting for them. Amazing, fun, family friendly place with incredible food!! As we entered the restaurant, we noticed the beautiful decor and fun artwork, and that it was very clean. The hostess and server were very friendly and helpful. We you're seated on the lovely shaded patio, and could hear the live music from the large Beer Garden in the very back, containing fun games like cornhole, connect four and giant Jenga. Everybody was having an amazing time and laughing. Bonus points for having puppy yoga that night! On 25A before Lake Avenue They had this blooming eggplant that was to die for with all these fresh herbs and exotic type spices and flavors. The handcrafted cocktails were beyond delicious! I am not going to rate them on missteps as they had just opened. I think this place is trying to do too much at once. They are a: * Brewery * Highish end restaurant and cocktail bar * Bar/sports bar I was hoping they would be more of a brew pub with food because we do not have anything like that in this area. I happen to be someone who enjoys both and not the expensive non fine dining sector. The food was pretty good but again what am I going here for? If it is for $30+ entrees then I am probably going somewhere else. If it is for casual foods and craft beer, then I will just have some St James Brewery and yero/Del Fuego. The Stone Goat has been open for about 2 months. And I would say that they've worked out the majority of the kinks others have mentioned. The fact that the place was PACKED bears out my assessment. We initially had a 7:30 reservation. We called early in the day to change the reservation to 6:15 and whomever answered the phone said that wouldn't be a problem but that we'd have to sit in the main dining room. No problem. Fast forward to 6:15. We check in at the host/hostess stand and they tell us that the reservation is for 7:30. Oops. As I said -- the place is packed and there isn't a table to be found. Nor is there room to sit at the bar and wait. At that point, one of the owners stopped by to ask what the issue was -- so we told her. She said "let me see what I can do." She found us a table in the upstairs loft area -- so we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. I really appreciated that. I found the ambiance to be great -- a real rustic but elegant decor. Unfortunately, the acoustics in the loft aren't the best, and being full, it was VERY loud -- to the point that we had to speak to each other in raised voices in order to be heard. Their signature cocktail list is creative and the cocktails are very high quality -- albeit a bit on the pricey side. I found the food to be generally excellent with one exception -- but more on that later. And the servings were GENEROUS. There were four of us. We ordered the following: Tuna Poke, Grilled Oysters (2), Clams on the Half Shell Caesar Salad (2), Beet and Goat Cheese Salad (2) Short Rib Surf, Caribbean Braised Goat Shanks, Wild Boar Ragu Mafaldine, Crescent Farms Duck. We were too full for dessert. :-) Everything was fabulous -- except for the Mafaldine. There was a spice in it that I couldn't put my finger on but which I found to be off-putting. And the Wild Boar Ragu wasn't really a ragu at all. It was the pasta and sauce tossed with chunks of wild boar. I would have expected it to be shredded into the sauce. Despite the misstep with the Mafaldine, I am looking forward to going back -- there was so much on the menu that sounded amazing. Beautiful location! We ate outside and had their brand new summer menu. We each had the summer squash and shrimp flat bread, salmon, smoked turkey sandwich and the French dip.
