This is another very good Long Island brewery and worthy of a visit. They have a variety of beer on tap. Their stout and IPA beers are very good. The tasting room is a good size and there is an additional separate room. There was live music on the Saturday afternoon that I went there. They have growler fills, a canning machine for 32 ounce crowlers, and four packs and cases of 16 ounce cans available for sale.

Not just another brewery for Long Island, another great addition to the scene. Charlie is a great guy and runs a great spot just down the road from spider bite, and the second of 4 hopeful spots in Holbrook. Once Swingset and Square-head open their tasting rooms, the Holbrook/Ronkonkoma area will be a new craft destination and I'll get to have even more of an excuse to visit 1940s! Great beer and a great place to grab a pint or flight, I only wish it was themed a bit more 40's-esque. That being said, I love the minimal bullshit atmosphere, a brewery through and through the way it should be. No TVs blasting every game, logo'd glasses, knowledge of styles, and a great place to come and socialize. They are dog and good people friendly and usually have a couple guest taps up for grabs on premises, no crazy beers just yet, just solid beers in their respected styles. Cheers guys. Be sure to check to see what's going on and what food truck is parked outside.

Uh... Holbrook? What the heck can you find in Holbrook? Warehouses, Vets Hwy, Islip Airport and OH! Yea! Craft beer! Welcome to the Long Island craft scene, 1940s Brewing Co.! We're glad to see your micro? nano?, brewing self here! The brews were good, served up with passion and a smile. Most of the names of beer had stories and/or were named after meaningful things to the brew-masters. They seemed to be a bit traditionalist and modest. No crazy flavors or wild experimentation.I enjoyed the Bohemia blonde and I actually didn't mind their 838, which is a Rye. Typically, I'm not a Rye fan whatsoever, but I might've drank a pint on it's own there. The paint was still drying when I last went in the early fall/spring. It's nice, low key and a great spot to hangout for a bit. I'm excited to see what they're going to come up with in 2017. Side note: Did anyone notice their address is 1337 Lincoln Ave ? Nerds will understand LOL.

Stopped at this place on random day after work. The ambiance was eh and there was no music playing. The crowd was much older as well. I liked the beer a lot though and they had a shuffleboard table that was really fun. I think if you had a large group of people, it would be really fun.

I'll give you a couple of reasons this place rates 5 stars with me - They have an awesome rye beer (Roggenbier) called 838. I'm not sure why more breweries don't offer ryes? I read that rye tends to be an expensive grain or maybe its less familiar, but judging by the beer bus group I was with it seems in demand. The other reason is that they serve their beer in beautiful pint GLASSES as opposed to plastic solo cups. I imagine as a brewer there are a lot of variables you have to contend with in how your product is presented, stored and served (never mind the brewing process) so when a brewer serves their product in a proper glass it conveys a sense of respect for their customers. Breweries own tasting rooms sets the standard and 1940s sets a high one. That's a pretty solid couple of reasons, but I also like the look of this place with the wood and stone, beer barrel drinking tables and handsome wood bar. Its not so "brightly lit" and didn't have a bunch of TVs to distract you from the beer drinking experience. Seems like a good place to enjoy the company of friends and some damn fine brews!

I'm always a fan of new locals brews and am excited to welcome 1940's to their home in Holbrook! Like Spider Bite Brewing, they're located in an industrial area so finding their location may prove difficult the first time around but once you know where they are, you're good to go. It's quite spacious when you walk in and there's a beautiful, full wrap-around bar with plenty of seats, as well as a couple seats near the windowsill which acts as another tabletop. The feeling inside is warm but a little rustic, I liked it! They had a bunch of beers lined up, I believe 6-7 of their own, and 2 guest taps which was nice. My top pick was their Arsenal Pale Ale. English style pale ale with a smooth finish and came in at 7%. They also made a nice Hefeweizen and Saison if you're more into those styles. Pints were $6 and served in a glass (yes!), and flights were $8 for 4 tastes. Looking forward to visiting again!

    Came in for a tasting! #holbrook #noipas

Go Holbrook! I grew up not too far from this location, I can't believe 1940's Brewing Company chose this area to open their brewery. When John Harvard's closed, I felt a loss. They had a great happy hour and I could grab a pint of Pumpkin Ale during the fall. 1940's Brewing Company has now filled that microbrewery slot. When I sat down at the last chair at the bar, I started talking to the bartender. Will you offer a Oatmeal Stout? Yes! Good question, it should be available in the next two weeks. The brewery itself is a typical Holbrook joint, off the beaten path on Lincoln ave. If your looking for an Irish Pub driving down Lincoln Ave, forget it. This is Holbrook! They grabbed a corner warehouse and opened shop. It's not a gastropub, there's no food being served here. You walk in, grab a seat at the bar or choose lotsa of standing room. Holbrook! What 1940's Brewing Company saved in their decor, they make it up in product. Holy Moley! One thing about Long Island in general, we can make some beer! I'm not a flight guy, I like to drink a pint and enjoy. The first time here, I highly recommend their beer flight. I was able to taste all their different brews and make a determination on what I like going forward. I'm not an IPA guy, so scratch that. The cool thing about 1940's Brewing Company, they aren't IPA heavy like most microbreweries. Hefeweizen for the win! I like drinking a summer beer like Leinenkugel so the Hefeweizen with the fruit notes made it my favorite for today's visit. Main St Patchogue is seeing a nice resurgence with great restaurants and coffee houses. Holbrook? We have better pizza and now a brewery making some damn good beer. Oh yeah, there are a few Patchogue beers on tap... Come to 1940's Brewing Company, have a pint and bring home a growler.

Finally open. Congrats to this craft brewery for opening their own tasting room and brewing independently!

Dating back a little more than a year and a half ago, I can recall a few beer festivals in which I tasted some quality beer from a brewery I wasn't too familiar with....and yet it was brewed on Long Island. That brewery? This one of course! This past Saturday (accompanied by my sis and a friend) was my first stop in at the new digs for 1940's, and I was quite impressed. I had visited "A Taste of Long Island" back before Lithology took over and had also tried some 1940's brews there. It was neat that they used the location to get their beer some word of mouth, but having another standalone brewery on the isle is an even neater thing. Better yet, the location (albeit further than Farmingdale), sets up a nice little beer adventure with Spider Bite and Blue Point rounding out a trio in the area. But let's get back to who's under the spotlight. 1940's isn't hard to miss as it's right on Lincoln Ave and boasts its black and white logo largely on the front of the building/windows. Enter into a clean cut tasting room with lovely high top seating at the bar (with a beautiful wood finish) and the ol' barrels-used-as-tables between some other high top seats. Beer time. Eight original beers on tap which is a good amount for a brewery still getting a hold of its breeches. There was also L.I Craft Cares IPA (a beer brewed for charity by many breweries across the island) and Abita Root Beer (for you fans of something non-alcoholic) on tap. A tasting of four beers sufficed as it did for my sis as well. I started with Michele Jean Saison which had the qualities and taste of a respectable saison. Next up was the 838 Roggenbier which was awesome in it's mild sweetness and rye finish. My personal favorite was the third beer of the flight (and one I remember sampling at one of those festivals), Sinner's Mass Milk Stout. Thick and not too bitter with a good creaminess to it. Lastly was Bohemia Blonde which was pretty light and crisp and rounded out a good variety of choices. I also tried a taste of the Airfield IPA from my sis and immediately was hit with a nice level of hops. By the end, the place qualified for my need to buy a pint glass for my collection ($5 is a steal!) which is a sign that I was happy with the beer in my belly. Staff/owners were also incredibly friendly and explained quite a bit about the beer, brewery name, and a few other fun little tidbits of info (coasters found from The World's Fair in the 60's?). Overall, 1940's was impressive in every facet of its delivery. Only operating out of Holbrook for a little more than a month and a half and they already are turning into a brewery that needs to be on every beer hunter's list. Cheers to you guys.

Came in for our first time and sat at the bar with David. He was amazing!!! He was so much fun and very knowledgeable about the beers. He kept us laughing and our glasses full. The beers are great and all very different. The vibe and atmosphere is very chill. David brought our dog treats and snacks. I highly recommend stopping in here for a great beer and snacks.I actually became a beer club member the first time I was here bc it's so good!

After trying the 1940s beers at the cradle of aviation event I knew I had to make a stop at the actual brewery. Came here to grab a beer on a Friday night and was actually surprised at how large the bar is. The brewery it's always a little hard to find and parking was somewhat difficult as it was very crowded when we came. The beers were pretty good, I had a blueberry and it was yummy. They had live music which was unbelievably loud and the only bad part about the place. We actually ended up leaving because the music was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. We will be returning on a night where there is not live music.

This brewery is located in an industrial park in Holbrook, close to the MacArthur Airport. At first I thought it was an odd spot for a brewery, but we are always looking for new breweries so we were excited to try it. In the parking lot was a food truck, Old Thyme BBQ, which I checked out after ordering a beer. The inside of the tasting room was more spacious than what we expected, the bar was pretty big too. We were quickly helped by Michelle, who was very upbeat and willing to give her insight on what we would like based on our tastes. Picked out some really good IPAs more suited for beginner IPA drinkers like us. There were probably 10 to 12 beers on tap, all different types of beer too! Very good variety for people wanting to try different beer. Going back to the food truck, it was amazing. The menu for the day was BBQ pork nachos, pork tacos, or chicken gumbo. I went with the gumbo, extra spicy, so good! Came with chicken, andouille sausage and perfect seasoning and spices over rice. Kevin, the truck owner was great and mentioned that he is at 1940's from Thursday to Sunday. Definitely check out the food if you come to the brewery. 1940's happily surprised us with their extensive beer list, well-done tasting room and the great and friendly service. Will definitely come back to try some more!

Any establishment that is dog friendly almost* automatically earns 5 stars with me :) The guy behind the bar is nice, chatted with us and gave us all the deets on the beers. The owner was sitting down enjoying a beer and chatting it up with us, watching the game. Great low key vibes here. I had the beer flight, I'm not much of a beer person but the fiancé is and he enjoyed it. There was a cup filled with dog treats. :-) so excited to come back and bring my pup.

It just fits so perfectly right in between a four and five star feeling. Reason? Well let me tell you! Last Friday I knocked out another brewery on this lengthy Island by hitting up the last Holbrook spot I hadn't ventured to (this one, or course). Nestled in a similar building-setup as its fellow Lincoln Ave brethren (Spiderbite and 1940's), Saint James is arguably a tad smaller (for a taproom, that is). That doesn't take away from it's cozy style. Yeah, you're kinda sitting in what looks like a small warehouse with the actual brewery in front of you, but that little "taproom" area works just fine (better than fine). It's got a little beer flair going which shouldn't be overlooked. I strolled in with my buddy and we were joyfully greeted by a woman who treated us as if we were close friends in her home. She offered to change the channel on the massive TV, raise the music, and even had a charger handy for my dying phone. Service with several smiles! Beyond the hospitality, we were given the rundown about Saint James and it's beer. A farm brewery with Belgian ale roots that's rockin' New York ingredients? Sounds good to me! This meant dubbel and tripel choices as well as a few other palate-worthy brews. With five to choose from, a flight was what we went for, though it was a bit steeper in price ($15) than usual. Hey, it's cool with me. I'll support local beer until my liver craps out (here's hopin' that takes a while!). I digress.... Let's break it down like this. Five brews: Muré (blackberry porter) Biere des Chevaliers (dubbel) Fraise (strawberry fruit beer) Tripel (I think you can figure this one out) Rachelle Blanche (witbier) Those two fruit-based ales gave way to some great original flavors while staying true to the Belgian background. The dubbel hit the spot and was exactly what I expected from it. The downer was the tripel. I don't know what happened here, but something tasted...off. Really off. Great, the thing had a 9% ABV, but it didn't have the heavy punch a tripel usually dances with. Things were made up when I met Rachelle. Rachelle Blanche, that is. She was a wondrous witbier bringing out some fruity notes accompanied by a wheat flavor that balanced things out perfectly. I was torn on purchasing a bottle, but she (it?) pushed me in the buying direction (along with a beautiful glass to add to the collection, albeit a pricy endeavor). Overall, so maybe things sound kind of 4-stars-ish, but Saint James Brewery deserves that extra half of a fifth celestial body. Alas, I can't say it warrants the kick up to 5 though. Therein lies the deadly half star conundrum. In the end, just know Saint James will grant you a brewery and beers almost entirely worthy of returning for. Take the trip and be the judge on the fraction that'll make up that final twinkle.
