Cute restaurant located in a small strip mall area. We started with the potato pancakes that was a nice size enough for 2 . Served with a nice apple butter to dip. My fellow dinner had the loaded potato soup served with a nice bread stick to dip into the soup . He said it was delicious and hearty. We each had a signature dish schnitzel and felt the schnitzel was a tad dry .They had been there before and said it was great but maybe today it was just something off . Red cabbage was tasty , fresh vegetables really good and the Spätzle was plain as it usually is in general . Great specials and menu options, just think the food could have been slightly better, but would give it another try.

Really cute casual restaurant in a pretty plaza. The service was very prompt and friendly. They had a really nice selection of food. Everything from wraps to entrees. I had a delicious sauerbraten with roasted vegetables paired with a dry Riesling. Everyone's meal was great, wraps, burgers, schnitzels and dessert.

While shopping in the Stony Brook Village Center we came across a charming German restaurant called Schnitzels and enjoyed a little taste of German cuisine. Although small, the restaurant has a bar with seating along with seating for table service. In addition there's a small area devoted to live music on specific days. We started with the Wurst Platter featuring 4 wursts: knockwurst, bratwurst, krainerwurst and cheddar bratwurst served with pretzel bites, red cabbage and sauerkraut. The platter is a wursts lover dream. Dinner was the traditional German pork jagerschnitzel and wienerschnitzel platters both served with spatzle, red cabbage and seasonal vegetables. Both cooked to perfection with generous portions. Topped off dinner with the apple strudel and was pleasantly surprised to see the strudel was prepared with raisins which I've never received at other "authentic" German restaurants. Schnitzels has a nice selection of both wines and German beers and offers different events throughout the week including happy hours and lunch specials. We met one of the owners Storm, who happened to be our server, who was both welcoming and customer service oriented. It was a welcomed sight observing the owners serving tables and engaging with the customers. Schnitzels is a small community oriented authentic German restaurant offering great food and outstanding service. We will definitely be back and if you're in the mood for German food Che k out Schnitzels, you won't be disappointed.

What a disappointment. Food was incredibly BLAND! The only good thing in our meal was the cheese curds we had for appetizer. Service was so odd, she asked if we needed a jox while We were still eating out food. My drink was empty by the time I was done with apps, she never refilled my glass again. The fish a S chips was gross! Like smell bad kinda gross. If you wants appetizers and drinks, give it a try. If not try another place.

I can't recommend Schnitzels enough! Awesome ambiance, phenomenal service, huge portions and delicious food. The schnitz sandwich is a 10/10. Came in on a thursday night around 5:30 pm and by 6 every table was taken. Not surprised after trying the food! The menu is HUGE and has a wide variety of options. I can't wait to go back.

Came here to celebrate my dear friend's bday. I would come back just for those German pancakes ; those pancakes were the show stopper for me. Love the ambiance and service as well. Could be a cool place to kick off Octoberfest for sure !! Love SB village they always have great dinner spots.

Cozy Taste of Germany at Schnitzels! Tucked away in quite a charming Stony Brook, Schnitzels is a small restaurant serving good Getman food. While it may not be the most high-end or traditional German restaurant around, it serves fresh ingredients, has an inviting atmosphere, and genuinely great service. The space itself is small but thoughtfully decorated, rustic, cozy, and a nice homestyle vibe. The menu sticks to the classics - hearty schnitzels, sausages, potato sides, fried pickles, red cabbage, spatzle, and much more! The food appears to be cooked fresh, dishes are tasty, well-prepared, and satisfying. Beer is great! Zicke Zacke Hoi Hoi Hoi!! Prost! The staff are attentive, friendly, and eager to make your experience enjoyable. One slight negative note is that they are a little disorganized when it comes to wait times. I've been here at times being quoted a 20 min wait which turned into a 45min wait. And on the other side of things was quoted a 15 minute wait, which turned into a five minute wait lol. Overall, If you're looking for a relaxed, no-fuss place to enjoy some good German comfort food, Schnitzels is absolutely worth a visit. This place is part of the rotation for us and friends.

Great experience. The only downside is they don't take reservations. We got here and waited about 20 minutes for the table to open up. There was space at the bar so we took a full advantage to get a drink and some appetizers. The sausage wurst platter was great! It comes with four different sausages, mustard, two types or cabbages and pretzel bites. The fried pickles is a memorable mention. And the beer is to die for. The mains did not disappoint as well. We got beef goulash (totally delicious) and he blacked chicken platter. I can honestly say both have been a delicious addition to our routine. Thanks do the hospitable staff and yummy food, we leave very happy customers.

Our friends took me and my husband to this place and it's just what we needed for lunch. If you're craving schnitzel done right, this spot delivers. The food was absolutely delicious--crispy, perfectly seasoned schnitzel that hit the spot. We had 1 chicken and 1 pork. Plates were pretty big and well served! The ambiance was super cute and cozy, with just the right mix of charm and character. Bonus points for the beer served in a boot--such a fun touch that made the whole experience even more memorable. Whether you're a schnitzel fan or just looking for a fun place with great vibes, this place is worth the visit!

Schnitzels in Stony Brook is a great place to have dinner. Last night I had the steak sandwich; it was delicious. Their Fish and Chips are perfectly cooked, and the pastrami sandwich is incredible. In fact, everything I tried over the past few months has been great. One of my favorite apps is the Giant Pretzel that you can share. It comes out on a wheel with all different toppings. Since the portions are generous, I always bring home a piece of German Chocolate Cake and Black Forest Cake to have the next day. The service was perfect. Our waitress was attentive and quickly brought our drinks and food. We were there for trivia last night. My group always has a great time. And much to our surprise, we actually won! Schnitzels is the perfect place to have a good meal with friends. I highly recommend it!

We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not. Let's start with the good. We went on a full Saturday night. Our waitress and waiter, despite their…read moreeerily "The Menu-esque" mannerisms, were very friendly. The waiter very enthusiastically brought me a perfectly chilled beer and a perfectly chilled glass. I dug that. The Tokyo White beer was delicious. One of the best beers I've had. Our waitress did - on at least two occasions - tell us the chef recommends that we eat the dish faster and immediately after it is placed in front of us. To her credit, she said it in the nicest possible way and we obliged. Now let's talk about the food. The first course was an oyster. Tasted like eel sauce and wasabi- but a good balance. The second course was some sort of Tataki. It was also pretty good. Tasted like eel sauce and wasabi- but a good balance. The third course was some sort of seaweed salad. It was pretty good. Tasted like eel sauce and wasabi (you might be starting to recognize a pattern). The fourth course I don't fully remember the name of. It did NOT taste like eel sauce and wasabi. It was a warm dish, temperature wise. It kind of tasted like a thick seafood/corn chowder, but it wasn't a soup and it has a shredded consistency. It was alright. The next course was what they described as some sort of chef specialty soup that had to "cook for hours and hours".. It was miso soup. It was good miso soup. As good as any $4 miso soup I've had at any good, local, non-Omakase sushi restaurant. Was it better? No. And it was served in a plastic cup. It really should've been served in some sort of a stone or ceramic cup/bowl. I don't even eat out of plastic in my own home when I'm throwing together a quick $10 meal. There may have been one more starter course- but if there was, it certainly wasn't memorable. Now we're onto the "main course" dishes. This might be the fault of my own ignorance, that I expected the dishes to be very unique and make us "oooh and ahhh". But the next five courses are just single pieces of sushi roll. The staff and the chef would show us pictures of the fish and the chef would hold up the actual fish they were using- as well as showing us the JFK shipping label to confirm that it had been flown in recently. I believe you! But these next five dishes are where the immeasurable disappointment really kicks in. Each single roll was from a different type of fish- and I'm sure it was some of the highest quality, freshest fish they could source. Unfortunately, every single piece tasted exactly the same. This is not hyperbole or an exaggeration- all five of the next courses tasted exactly the same- like an average sushi place roll but with eel sauce SATURATED rice and a big glob of wasabi. That was the only flavor profile- eel sauce and wasabi. Some of them were seared with a torch. The ones that were seared with the torch had a slightly different flavor profile- the torched ones tasted like eel sauce, wasabi and butane from the torch! Again, this is not hyperbole or exaggeration- the main course sushi rolls from this high-end Japanese restaurant all tasted exactly the same. If I had bought those rolls at a regular sushi restaurant for $20 per six pieces I would've been disappointed. It's just not good. It's boring. All you can taste is soy sauce, eel sauce, wasabi, and butane.. I truly felt like they were playing a joke on us- seeing how pretentious they could act while serving us beyond overpriced and mediocre food and watch us all eat it up both figuratively and literally. Every single $15 roll I've had from Sushi Ichi or Mt Sinai Sushi (two other local Japanese restaurants) is preferable to what they're serving at Sora Omakase. We had the option of adding on a single piece Wagyu beef roll for $30. Thankfully, I didn't fall for it. I'm sure it would've tasted like eel sauce, wasabi, and butane. Now let's move on to the last course. They called it a "dessert" - but it's another salty fish dish of some sort. I don't fully remember what it was, but I do remember that there was a little piece of plastic on top of it. So I have to awkwardly ask the chef if this piece of, what I clearly know is plastic garbage that shouldn't have made its way to my plate, is edible.. the chef feigns a language barrier and pretends like he doesn't know what I'm saying. He tells me that it's seed garnish. I say "no not the garnish- I'm asking what this little piece of plastic is" and pointed it out to him. He says " oh that's paper" and he plucks it off my dish before I had a chance to take a picture of it. I didn't expect them to give me money back or even remake it- but they barely acknowledged it and didn't even apologize for the mistake. I couldn't help but I think about the waitress, reminding me that the chef recommends eating each dish immediately for the best culinary experience. Well, I have a suggestion for the chef- for the best possible culinary experience - I recommend you make sure you don't serve a customer plastic garbage.

Cool spot with a Manhattan vibe "behind" Main Street in Patchogue…read more The reason this is key is because, since they face out to the firehouse and residential areas, parking USUALLY isn't a problem. There's a small lot that's free and you can park on Jennings. (sorry residents). We went on NYE so had to park several blocks away. No biggie. The inside is dark and cool with a city-vibe. Ample bar space and 1-4 tops an some banquet seating that lets you look out over the street. We were greeted right away by what turned out to be our server and seated promptly by the windows (we had a reservation). Also greeted by a gentleman that we think might have been her dad. The young lady hustled all night and managed the crowd well. We never waited too long for her to check in on us and she was very helpful with selecting wine and clarifying menu items. That being said, THIS IS A SMALL PLATES JOINT. People expecting full-sized portions should adjust their expectations accordingly. We did, however, order the Trastavere seafood platter (medium) which came as a tower and seemed impressive. Two types of oysters (large and medium) were presented; briny and fresh and pretty damned tasty. There was also a ceviche and tuna tartare that was, unfortunately, a bit unremarkable, as was the shrimp cocktail (though the shrimps were pretty hefty). The American "black caviar" was a nice way to commemorate the meal. Nutty with a pop of salinity but maybe something you can skip. We meant to order the Carne e Formaggi but got the Gamberetto instead which was fine as it was pretty tasty nonetheless (made with shrimp but it almost tasted like smoked salmon). Virgola Manhattan was good but pretty standard. Follow-up drink of dirty Manhattan was blissfully salty and cold. But back to the menu: we are unsure if they have an actual kitchen back there which would also explain the small plates concept and oyster and chilled fish options. The bruschetta was tasty, as mentioned, but it seems like they cut and toasted the bread and topped it with the crudo. The other bruschetta options featured ingredients from other menu items that could be re-purposed for multiple dishes. Smart but expect this. We plan on returning and trying the charcuterie board (mix and match cheeses and meats) and some cocktails. Overall, a nice night out and a nice option for dining and drinking around Patchogue. Cheers!
