Had to introduce an old friend to Jack Dolans ( who loves Irish and English Pubs) and once again I was not disappointed and Dolans made another convert of my friend. Without repeating my last review both the food and service were outstanding. Once again our server Christine did an amazing job ( serving both the bar and dining areas) while maintaining a welcoming demeanor throughout. Even got to meet the cook who once again visited the tables asking how were the dishes. Corned beef sandwiches and French onion soup were delicious and well portioned as usual. Fantastic local Irish Pub offering outstanding customer service along with delicious food dishes at reasonable prices. I love corned beef and we usually do Ben's in Lake Grove. Dolans seemed to be worth a try. Off we went. I had the corned beef, my husband the chicken pot pie. My sandwich was awful. The bread was stale, the corned beef cut in tiny little pieces, the French Fries limp. The chicken pot pie was no better. Drowning in "juice." Service was fine and they seem nice. On one side, a neighborhood Irish bar and on the other, a small restaurant. The restaurant is cozy and clean with a fireplace and a big screen tv that has a rotation of beautiful Irish landscapes. The food is very good and the staff are friendly. We frequent this place every couple of months. read more

Went in for a quick bite and beer before a movie. We decided to just have drinks for happy hour, sausage rolls, and pork sliders. Food came out super quick and all delicious! Had a good Irish brunch around St Pattys day. Food was good but do wish the corned beef hash was crispier as menu describes. Overall worth it. Irish Breakfast was great. The blood sausage is totally worth trying and they only give you a small amount so if you don't like it there is plenty else on the plate. Eggs were perfectly cooked. The "other" Irish bar I went to in Smithtown wasn't great, Jack Dolans on the other hand was warm & inviting. I wouldn't say it looks like a classic old school Irish bar but it does have a warm, friendly ambiance. The bartender was very attentive and friendly & I love that they have Smithwicks on tap. Jack Dolan's was a very pleasant surprise. Located in a tiny strip mall on Maple Ave in Smithtown I assumed it was an "Old Man Bar". The place is bright and well appointed. Staff were very friendly and the food came out perfect, me and my wife ordered the Sheppard's Pie and the Ruben definitely try the different bourbons and vodkas. The atmosphere was perfect. Love Jack Dolan's The food is amazing. I recently had the Irish Dip which was so delicious and bountiful. My husband had one of the specials, the seafood pot pie. He raved about it. She worked the dining room like a well oiled machine. Most of the food was good except someone in my party didn't like their fish and chips. Now fish and chips aren't hard to make and maybe it was busy and the cook cut some corners or the beer batter wasn't made right but the owner came over and had such an attitude and talked down to the person in my party. Completely out of line. I've been there before with a large party and a few other times but this guy's attitude has me done with this place. It's such a shame to be able to turn that place into such a good pub but not know how to deal with the people that come there. read more

My wife and I had a great experience at Jack Dolan's Pub! I'm confident we found our new go-to gem. It was our first visit here and we only visited the "grub" side, not the "pub" side. The ambiance is very comfortable with brick, dark wood furniture, and rustic light fixtures all feeling very authentic. The service was not like a "waitstaff" taking an order, it was much more welcoming and personal. We even met the owner's family. They are lovely people and we really enjoyed learning a bit about the business. Now, the food. Outstanding describes the quality and also that it really stands out from other examples of pub fare. First, the pint of Guinness was properly drawn, in my opinion. I had the Shepherd's Pie (beef). The gravy was exceptional and the ground beef was clearly high quality. My wife had a chicken sandwich and the seasoning was delicious. We shared the brownie for dessert and it was awesome. Strong cocoa taste, fresh ice cream and homemade whip cream. Great presentation, too. I think what impressed me most was that I got a very authentic atmosphere and a take on the recipes that really elevated the meal. I can't wait to try the fish and chips. We have been in search of a great Irish pub since we moved out here a couple years ago. We came here for my daughter's birthday last night - it was a party of 11. The food was delicious and the drinks were great! My husband's pint of Guinness was poured just right. The wings were some of the best I've had out- crispy with sauce but not too saucy and the baked clams were amazing and had a lot of chopped clams along with the breading- very yummy! The shepherds pie was a great portion and made just right- everyone who ordered really enjoyed it. The burgers were big and juicy and cooked just the way everyone ordered them. Bangers and mash was delicious and the fish and chips were the best I've had in NY. The cod was flaky and fresh and not dense or dry! The waitress was wonderful! I'd highly recommend this place. The food here is amazing! You have to try the chicken pot pie with the flaky puff pastry. So filling and so good. The baked clams have a great texture and bite to them especially with the bacon. Even the grilled cheese was amazing and I don't usually order a grilled cheese when eating out. Definitely need to try this place! read more

I love what they've done to the place-to make it more than just a bar. The dining room is very cute and Irish themed. I've eaten here twice and the menu is hit and miss. The Irish BLT sounds like a good idea but the bacon is fatty and uncooked. The fries and cocktails are good though. The next time, I got the potato & leek soup, which was ok but could have used more flavor. The wings were very good but my daughter did not like her chicken & avocado sandwich.
