One of my friends used to rave about this place yeeears ago, like 2 decades ago. I finally came tonight to grab dinner. Had a platter w gyro meat and chicken. The staff were so sweet!! And not only to me but also to a customer ahead of me who was pretty rude to them. I got to witness them respond to aggression with all humility, grace and respect. And they were so young! There was also a woman ahead of me who I could tell was a regular, which was exciting because bad places don't typically gain regulars. But it really was so special to watch them treat the regular, the rude person, and the newbie (me) with the same warmth and kindness. When I got home I was not disappointed at all. For a tiny takeout place I was relieved that the quality was right there with sit down Mediterranean places I've eaten at. Everything was so fresh and well made. Very grateful overall. read more

Greek Bites is the best Greek in the Shirley/Mastic area but that dosent make it great. Been taking out from there for years but last time was the last time. We always get the greek salad with Gyro meat. Their salad is comprised of shreds of the leafy part of the Romaine Lettuce. The slices are so thin that its difficult to pick them up and they add nothing to the salad,. These are the parts we throw away!! They do a great business, and we would like nothing more than to continue to patronize them but their cost cutting on ingredients ruins that thought. The salads are not cheap and should contain the "good" parts of the lettuce, whether romaine or iceberg!!!! read more

Stopped last Sunday after the beach .....Food was awful gyro meat was dried out like it was under a heat lamp ALL DAY glad I asked for extra tzatziki the only way I was able to eat this cardboard. It was bad if I didn't already go home I would've went back then to top it all off we ordered. Yes I would definitely recommend this business! I have eaten here a few times and it is always good food.

Cute little counter service place right off the main road. Plenty of parking, even though this place is usually crowded. We call in our orders for takeout, but there are plenty of people ordering (and waiting) in person. They apparently make everything to order so your food might take a while. They're very busy but have a good system worked out between front and back of house. I was impressed by how well they were all multitasking. I've only ever had the steak panini with avocado sauce, because it is delicious and I never wanted to waste money or time trying something else, only to regret not ordering it again. My coworkers love the different flavors of ice cream truffles, but these are frozen and don't travel well, so I'd recommend eating there before they melt - there are a few benches for outside dining, but overall it's definitely more of a takeout place. I enjoy the food and atmosphere. Not a Michelin star fancy experience but absolutely stellar food and service... something that is often lacking in that area of Long Island. Gem in mastic beach. I visited my mother for a few months and this was by far my favorite restaurant (though only outdoor seating FYI). Huge fan of the lemon potatoes, grilled chicken which is always succulent, generous, fresh Greek salads, pork, perfect Tzatziki and delicious pita bread. It's a little pricey and the service can be on the slower side like 15 min wait ish- which I expect accounts for the very surprising average yelp rating, but this is a family-owned restaurant which makes all their food fresh and is consistently delicious. I'm happy to support this small business and even though it's a bit higher price or slower than say McDonald's (not by much tho..), they give you serious bang for your buck. One platter is likely enough for two delicious and filling meals. Couldn't recommend them more. read more

I'd be remiss if I let the year end and I didn't review Greek Bites. I mean, my reasoning is mixed between a few factors and not all are due to my infatuation for the place. Don't get me wrong, Greek Bites is a quality Mediterranean spot for a meal, but the other reasons are really more Yelp needs. What am I referring to? Well I took two trips there (both for takeout) with my girlfriend in a three day span. That gave a nice mini sample size to owe the place a review. Furthermore...I have quite a few pics that just need to be posted (clear that camera space, right Yelp?). But let's get back to the Greek. GB is almost a takeout-only spot if it weren't for their picnic tables scattered about and the oddly-shaped yet cute built in booth-type setup (that are also on the outside). You see, Greek Bites' interior is really just a counter area to order. Walk through, grab your food, and choose one of these table options...or do what we did and head home with the goods and eat in the comfort of your abode. This was back in warmer months when outdoor eating was doable. Nowadays, in the cold and snow, you really don't have an option other than to-go. But that's okay because Greek Bites has plenty of grub that'll last the car ride and still taste, well, tasty. Trip uno was a little simpler in our order as we got gyros (classic lamb/beef style) and a side of spicy feta with pita for dipping. The gyros were packed with flavorful meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, and tzatziki which hit the proverbial spot. The spicy feta was also creamy and delicious though the lack of substantial pita that came with it was a tad annoying. We learned our lesson on trip dos, just a couple of days later. This time, the meal was for five people (the lady's parents and her sis joined in) and so we ordered a bit more food (and extra pita!) giving us the opportunity to try a few other items. This included skordalia dip (a garlicky, lemon, potato mixture) which was pretty darn delicious, fried zucchini chips that were mostly crispy (some had a sogginess to them), and onion rings with a great crunchy breading that did the trick. Having just gyro-ed (that's a verb, right?), my GF and I decided to split a few other handheld options. We devoured the spinach and chicken panini as well as the chicken Caesar pita which both packed plenty of tasty ingredients. Kudos to Greek Bites for also giving us a complimentary dessert for our order (tiramisu!). Overall, I'm glad I finally wrote out this review for Greek Bites. They deserve it because looking back at these pics reminded me of the tasty food we ordered and has me interested in swinging by on a wintry night to get our Greek on...with plenty of pita, of course. read more

I went on 9/17/24 . I ordered 2 falafel wraps and extra tahini . The place was busy . I checked my order . Tahini sauce missing . I told them the owner stopped what she was doing and went through a stack of orders . She said " We didn't charge you . " I said I ordered it . I had to pay an extra dollar for 2 tablespoons of tahini . I felt annoyed . Your mistake . Over the years I have spent hundreds of dollars here . I felt they were being very greedy . It left a bad taste in my mouth . The proper response should have been " I'm sorry " and given me the sauce . The place is always busy because the food is good . i'm new to the area and just learning to get around... I love Greek food... so you can bet I would give 'em a try! I've been there twice and won't be going back... first time the Gyro was dry and tasteless (very sad I was) BUT... after a week or so I thought that, heck, let's give 'em another try...! I'm from the west coast and I'm sure you can understand that the Greek Cuisine on the west coast isn't that great... only mediocre at best... BUT I MISS THE WEST COAST GREEK FOOD... THE "GREEK BITE CAFE" is marginal at best and significantly overpriced! I'm ready to "kick" myself for going back there... to all those reviewers out there that mentioned how much parking there is at the Greek Bites... guess what... that's because most people tried 'em and don't like 'em... Not much to look at from the outside but the 20+ comings and goings we saw while eating in the parking lot was an indicator I'm not alone on this one. -Gyro Pita: 5/5, undoubtedly one of the best gyro pitas I've ever had. LOADED to the brim with gyro meat and fillings. This thing was huge, they didn't skimp out at all. Lunch special came with fries (or salad) and a drink. Their brewed mango iced tea was A++ -Fries: 4/5, nothing special about em, no fancy seasoning or anything...but delicious, and a massive portion. Overall I'm very happy (and impressed) with this restaurant. There's no indoor seating, and it's a bit out of the way BUT it is well worth the drive. I have been coming here for about 8 years, and have NEVER been disappointed. the staff is very friendly, the food is ready fast, and is ALWAYS delicious. my favorite is an extra meat "monster" gyro with hot sauce and a side of feta cheese fries. if your in center moriches I highly recommend stopping here for lunch. read more

I ordered a chicken and rice platter which says $18 on the board and was charged $26. When I questioned it the girl said "it's 3:05, that's a lunch price, lunch ends at 3:00". Nowhere did it say it was a lunch meal or that there was a higher price. Then she said "had you ordered a small I would have given the cheaper price." Again, no sizes are an option on the board. Finally tried the Greek bites fries... omg so good! Gyros are still solid. Still wish the sauce had dill in it, but that's a personal preference. Ordered twice in the last two weeks, one night was so busy they threw in a baklava as an apology. It was delicious and not too sweet like most. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Had a Gyro there last night that was so horribly mushy from being doused with Taziki sauce that it was inedible . Even though we picked it up as soon as it was ready, and we ate it soon after , the lettuce was so wilted and mushy, even the meat was mushy along with the pita bread, I've never gotten a Gyro there that the meat actually looked gray I'm guessing from all the sauce. It wasn't worth the ride back to return it so just had to throw it away . Such a disappointment! I've never gotten a bad Gyro before. read more

I've been to ALOT of Greek places and this one is so-so with their portions. The food tastes good and is cooked well but they don't pack out their platters or salads like most other Greek/Mediterranean restaurants do, especially in Nassau County. Their large salad is a medium at most places and it definitely won't serve two people or be enough to split for two meals. I'm on the fence about continuing to go back (i've eaten from here about 10 times) and I usually give 5/5 but it seems I can get more 'bang for my buck' elsewhere. read more
