Heard so many great things, wanted to try dinner here. Was here once many years ago, but just for drinks. Small & narrow restaurant space, the tables are very close together. Felt like I was intruding on the couple eating next to us who was about a foot away. If you don't mind that..and want outstanding food, Alexandros is a strong pick! Heard so much about the mussels that was my choice. The appetizer portion is a tremendous bowl that could easily be a meal. So many choices of sauces and flavors. My meal was a cowboy seasoned lamb chop special. Both were so flavorful. We were 5 people and all really enjoyed our meal choices. It was 6pm, and all other restaurants were seemingly unapproachable (no way we were getting in without waiting 45 minutes or later). We were a party of 5 without a reservation, and hungry. The hostess was gracious and took us regardless of our lack of reservation. We sat in their garden room which is decorated very nicely and despite the fact that it is 40° outside, it was warm and toasty underneath the artificial greenery. Their heaters are amazing and kept us warm and toasty. We ordered pastitchio, shrimp & rice, shrimp and pasta, and stuffed calamari and a Greek salad. The food was very good and adequate portion sized. While they are the restaurant filled to capacity and became extremely busy. Suffice it to say this seems like a late evening spot and was very lively. The bar area was crowded and everyone seemed to be having a great time. In terms of cost, our bill came to $250 which include included a tip. Please realize we did not have any alcoholic beverages as we were there with older parents. Overall, the experience was slightly above adequate, and if I lived closer, I would likely go back again because of the festive atmosphere alone, and the fact that the food was good. read more

STAY AWAY from this restaurant. The food is horrible, and the service is rude and unprofessional. The owner Sam discriminated on me, embarrassed me in front of the whole restaurant, and threatened to punch me because he thought I was someone else who called his son a derogatory word the other night. He ended up telling me to come back from the parking lot when his son told him it wasn't me on the phone. He even called a friend cop on me that circled the parking lot. I actually know his son Alex, and I was with my wife there the night before having drinks and conversations about him going to law school since we both went to Hofstra. I was giving him friendly advice since my brother is a corporate lawyer. I was livid and in such awe that I contacted Sam directly, and still no apology. He ranted about his kiddie staff trying to close up one night and that I came out of my face for a last round. First off, their staff closes early just to get out quicker when he's not around, and they were suppose to close at 10PM & it was just 8:30PM. Also, that never happened, I have always been courteous, and I know everyone there. He's too prideful of a nasty old man to say sorry for the huge mistaken identity he he made. Did he really think I was going to hit a senior citizen in front of his staff, I have old grand parents his age. He's the lowest of the lowest of human beings, not even worth going to jail over. I ordered the Scallops and when my dish was brought over I thought I got a whiff of a bad ammonia smell. I am not that person who returns food so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I put one scallop in my mouth and instantly spit it out because the flavor was so bad and tasted like ammonia. I should have trusted my smell and not tasted it. The waitress agreed that the smell was off so no problem there. I was just surprised the cook would cook and serve an obviously bad plate of scallops. I love Alexandros! They have recently changed their all you can eat mussels to EVERY DAY. Yes you read that right, all you can eat mussels EVERY DAY. The best part of Alexandros besides the amazing food and service is they let you bring your mussels home! You don't have to throw out half an order if you can't finish like most all you can eat places. The mussels are always fresh and there are so many different broths, I've tried them all but the new curry one and can confidently say I'm always impressed by them. The mussels come with an order of fries or pasta but you can up charge for a side salad that has all the fixings of a nice Greek salad. If you're looking for a great Greek restaurant with high quality food and people I highly recommend Alexandros. read more

Best place I've been too since visiting in New York! It's a small restaurant, but big flavor! The bartender Jack was on point and made the experience 10times better. Definitely am going to make sure to visit here again. I had the gyro and it tasted fresh and the fries were delicious. The tzatziki sauce was homemade as well and great! We arrived at 3:45 pm and the place was empty. Nonetheless, we decided to eat in the tented area. The restaurant itself is not very big, but the tented area, which is heated, increases the space by a good amount. When I first walked into the establishment, I did not expect much. There is a bar area on the left and, separated from the bar is a small seating area with tables. The hostess asked if we wanted to sit in the tented area, I am glad we did. The waiter promptly arrived with the menu. Given the appearance of the establishment, I was not prepared for the prices. We ordered fried calamari, to be shared, and two glasses of Malbec to start. The wine was not to my liking. My fears about the establishment seemed to be confirmed. As an appetizer we ordered the "everything bagel fried calamari in a lemon cream ." The calamari arrived on a rectangular plate, piping hot and gingerly placed on the lemon cream. "What have I done?!?" I thought as I carefully took a bite. To my pleasant surprise, they were not simply good, they were sensational! If dinning alone, be prepared, it will be hard to eat the entire serving and still have room for a full meal. Something will have to be brought home in a doggy bag. Still in diet mode, I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken while my wife, Maria, had the apple and pecan salad which contains spinach, sliced apples, feta, dried cranberries, red onion, with a drizzling of maple cider dressing. Our salads arrived on a rectangular semi-deep bowl. There was so much chicken on the salad that I thought I would not be able to finish the meal. The lettuce was crisp and crunchy, the cheese tasty, the dressing was fresh, and the chicken exquisite. Maria, was equally pleased. The diet was about to be blown out of the water with the next order. Maria and I shared the tartufo, a chocolate crusted vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a cherry center. The tartufo was good but standard fair, the real treat was the the baklava, a pastry consisting in a savory phyllo dough shell covering a sweet nutty, lightly spicy, and honey covered center. The baklava was out of this world! To accompany these delectable desserts we ordered cappuccinos. The cappuccino was excellent as well. The Takeaways: 1. Unpaved parking lot. which may be cramped if the restaurant is busy. 2. Given the food preparation, make reservations if going after 5:00 PM. 3. Portion to price, excellent! 4. While on the costly side, the meal is worth every penny. 5. Service is excellent. Alexandros is on our short list of local eateries that we will return to consistently. read more

[Long Island Restaurant Week] Price Fixed Menu Review: I had a 5 star experience at Alexandros. From the service to the food, everything was absolutely perfect. The Restaurant Week menu offered many options that all sounded fantastic and tasted even better. Located on 25a, there was a spacious parking lot beside the restaurant with plenty of regular parking and a few handicapped spots that I saw. The signage outside is tough to see when the sun goes down, it was dark. The restaurant is on the corner of 25a & Pipe Stave Hollow Rd, hope that helps. I made reservations over the phone and was seated as soon as I arrived. I got there a few minutes early but my table was already set and ready for my arrival. Alexandros boasts a large bar. They also have high top tables & barstools in the bar area. The dining room is tiny but charming. I suggest calling and making a reservation. The decor went really well with the restaurants theme. I loved sitting in the dim candle lit dining area. It gave a romantic feel to my night. They also have an outdoor patio during the warmer months. The Service was downright incredible. I never had to ask for anything! Drink refills were constantly being offered, our waiter kept checking up on us, and servers walked around at least every 10 minutes with a water pitcher for refills. I never felt rushed. I was able to enjoy one course at a time. I was extremely satisfied with the service. The Food was delicious. This is a perfect Mediterranean Restaurant. I went during Restaurant Week so I was able to get an appetizer, entree & dessert for $30. I loved the quality of the food and I could tell the workers put a lot of effort into the restaurant. I will be reviewing what I tried: -Complimentary Pita & Hummus made in house. I absolutely loved the hummus. It was creamy and tasted like garlic perfection. -Greek Mussels: (Restaurant Week App)$2 Upcharge, worth it! The mussels + the broth, it was like having 2 separate appetizers. The portion of the mussels was huge and that's definitely not a complaint! I thought they were some of the best mussels I've ever had. They were cooked perfectly. They are topped with feta cheese and spinach) 5 out of 5 stars -Mussels Marinara: (Restaurant Week App) Full of flavor and again a huge portion of perfectly cooked mussels. I liked the Greek mussels more but these were enjoyable as well. 5 out of 5 stars -Everything Calamari: (Restaurant Week App) The calamari was so tender, it was almost like biting into butter. The breading was seasoned so well and again a nice sized portion of squid was given. 5 out of 5 stars -Spanakopita: (Regular Menu Appetizer) I liked this but didn't love it. I've had better. I didn't think the dough was as flaky as I expected it to be. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Moussaka: (Restaurant Menu Entree) OMG is the only way I can describe this dish! Layered perfection is how I feel about this. Perfectly cooked meat put between eggplant & whipped creamy potatoes. I was so satisfied with this dish and I would definitely order it again. It was a huge portion, I could only finish half but again not complaining. I love the fact that they serve big hearty portions. 5 out of 5 stars -Hanger Steak: (Restaurant Week Entree) $6 Upcharge, completely worth the price. This steak was juicy and full of flavor. It was cooked perfectly and the Demi glaze on it was pure heaven. It came with a side of basic veggies but the star of the show was the meat. This dish didn't have as big of a portion but was tasty non the less. One thing this dish was missing was a starch side. I think it would have elevated it to the next level. Overall delicious steak. 4 out of 5 stars -Baklava: (Restaurant Week Dessert) One of the best baklava's I've ever tasted. Server warm with whipped cream, they didn't skimp out on the nuts or the honey. It was the perfect size for 1-2 people. I would order this 1,000x over. 5 out of 5 stars Overall I was very satisfied with my first visit to Alexandros. The service was spectacular and the food was Mediterranean bliss! I recommend reservations, this place is small. They run an All You Can Eat Mussels special every Monday which is something I might try during my next visit. Fantastic restaurant. The only down side is it's pricey, (a salad with protein should be cheaper than almost $30 is my biggest complaint and it's the main reason I didn't give it 5 stars) but the food is great especially the humus, the gyros/pita sandwiches and the variety of mussels and even the overpriced Greek and Spring (seasonal) salad is very good. Great food all around. I give the food five stars. I also really like that they have a nice outdoor seating area and they have a flag outside that signifies that they are welcoming to all in the community. This tells us they are good business community citizens. I highly recommend this restaurant. One other downside I have to mention is they are not very good with to-go orders. A few times they had not even started making the order by the time I got there, they didn't even know I placed an order in the app until I told them, so that's the only reason, other than price, that I don't get take out from them more often. But I have always had good service when we are dine-in customers. If they fix the take out process then I would recommend them for both dine in and take out. read more

So happy (Yeh I'm vegan)...always come with one or 2 friends and all have been satisfied.., except the last time my BFF became ill , after having the Lemon Orzo soup. She mentioned it was ..off...and mentioned it to the waitress who said it was fresh. Well.... She got sooo sick when she got home. Food poisoning? Oh nooo.!!! My husband and I passed this place a thousand times we liked the idea of all you can eat mussels but then the sign went away and we were wondering why so we went in.OMG the short review would be we make this a once a week staple.it turns out they still have the mussel deal but it's everyday not just mondays Any way aside from consistency in amazing food and drink specials the thing we like the most is the friendly servers and staff.we always say it's from the top down on how staff treats guests. Obviously the owner set the standard. We were lucky enough to stumble upon Alexandros and Jack tonight, and we're so happy we did! From its welcoming entrance to the super friendly staff everything began well. The menu was wide ranging and everything sounded delicious. Then they gave us the 'specials' menu. It was superb! Ordering became a dilemma so I relied on Jack's expert advice. The Saganaki was yummy-how do they get it so crunchy?? He had the Avgolemono-SO GOOD and a huge portion. The Arugula & Burrata salad was fresh and tasty. His entree was off the special menu. I didn't get the name of it but it was stir fry shrimp, steak, chicken & vegetables with rice. He LOVED every bite. Jack was super attentive and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. OK we are back a year and a half later. and I typed this without logging in and forgot I was there a while ago. the I saw the 2015 review by me........looks like I like d the serve then as well!!! sooooo.... for 2017. Rebecca our server needs to be the start of this review. She was EXCELLENT from even before our butts hit the seat for their happy hour 1/2 off apps and etc. As we were seated a plate of hot homemade pitas (wheat and white) with one of the most fantastic homemade hummus i have ever had. The boss got some mussels and she sad they were nicely cooked, tender, and so flavorful with a great garlic sauce. I got a vegetable Souvlaki pita sandwich. The vegetables were expertly cooked and crispy, the pita bread for this entree was also super fresh and minutes old. VERY well done little sandwich, a nice portion but not a crazy monstrous plate of greasy goo or carb load. well done! To end of course service all around, multiple folks making sure water, and napkins, and one of my favorites - take my money promptly. When I am done, I am done and want to go - NEVER make me wait. So this was nice as well, efficient and painless. I must say while we did not really take advantage of the 1/2 off apps, and my wife did not like the 1/2 off cosmo vodka choice soshe went back to her preferred full price brand. The overall liqueur cost was a bit higher then expected. $12 / cosmo. Only one of us was drinking and with tip we broached $100 for two. Decided to stop and have a light fare at the bar. The bartender was very nice but very busy, so attention lacked a wee bit at first. We ordered Greek mussels and coconut shrimp as appetizers. The coconut shrimp were large and the dipping sauce tasty. The mussels were amazing; served in a big bowl with loads of garlic, feta cheese and spinach. That, with the pita bread was enough to make a meal. We had summer salad and moussaka as our entree, Both were delicious, and because our appetizers were so filling, we took home more than half of the entrees home. Food was excellent. Service NG. We arrived around 3 and sat at the bar. Jack was pleasant got us 2 drinks, the food came and he continued to talk and laugh with people at the corner of the bar. No attention to the only other 2 people at the bar ( the bar is small). I finally had to use the lemon from my drink to squeeze on my food. Then our used plates etc sat in front of use for 20 minutes. We ordered another drink. 15 minutes later, we then had to ask a very nice server and she printed our check so we could finally leave. I asked her his name since he never introduced himself. The prices at all restaurants have obviously gone up, service is what keeps the customer. 5 stars for the food as usual, not for the service. read more

This is the second time I have been here , and I am so happy! Drinks are excellent, especially the white grapefruit and basil cocktail and the honey and fig martini. Last time had a delish Greek salad with gyro. This time, my husband and I had the Greek mussels to start- super fresh and with creamy feta. Then, horiatiki salad with spicy octopus- very nice ( I would have liked a little more amooctopus) - and a gyro. It would be great if they offered toasted pita with the mussels to soak up the sauce .
