Beef Teryaki, I didn't eat it, it's that thin.
Bill W.

Went there 12.20.18. Friendly service. Got an a2 (beef teryaki, chicken fingers, crab rangoon, pork fried rice). My son got lo mein, fried rice, and crab rangoon. I figured it would be better. The beef terryaki was terrible. Thin enough to see through. The fried rice was dark brown, thick, very blah. Either it's got way to much of something in it, or it's been sitting for ages. Egg roll was good. Won't go back. How do I post a pic with my review?

Peppersteak combo w crab Rangoon and a drink $11

I was happy to see this Chinese spot right before I hit the road back to Boston. What a treat to find such authentic Chinese in Maine. The portions are great, the crab Rangoon was freshly fried, and the people working there are friendly and.

Foods always good, always hot. The only issue is a bit of a language barrier when calling in my order

There are several more appetizing Chinese restaurants within a stones throw of yummy's. I recommend you drive past; and have no regrets.

Really gross, low caliber Chinese food. I don't even know what say about the dark brown, dry fried rice.

Our new go-to Chinese restaurant! The only complaint I have though is that China Villa has WAY better veggie spring rolls.

While I'm not exactly the most familiar with the food scene in Portland, I do have some level of…read morefamiliarity with authentic Chinese cuisine, and I can say with the utmost confidence that Sichuan Kitchen is some of the best I've tasted thus far. The restaurant is small, relatively quiet and decorated nicely. The service was very friendly. The menu seems to be very focused, showcasing a handful of shareable plates, vegetarian items, rice/noodle dishes and entrees with authentic Szechuan flavors. Boyfriend got spicy noodles and I got braised beef noodles. We also got a side of their homemade chili oil, and in response to this the server asked us if we wanted our meals to be extra spicy. How could we turn that offer down? As soon as that bowl of noodle soup came out, I knew I was in for a great meal. It smelled intoxicating. It was the angriest shade of red possible, which is exactly what I like to see when I'm eating something supremely spicy. The broth and chili oil were both full of flavor, the beef was tender and the noodles had a delightfully chewy texture. Taking everything into account, Sichuan Kitchen served me one of the most memorable dishes I've ever had. There's really no other way to put it. If you're in the area and you find yourself craving the authentic numbing spicy flavors of Szechuan Chinese food, Sichuan Kitchen is the answer.

The interior is pleasant with decorative paper lanterns on the ceiling giving the impression of "pillowy clouds". My two sons enjoyed the Zhong Dumplings (delicious mix of sweet and savory), which was the highlight of the meal. We also had 2 orders of the soup noodles with minced pork and 1 order of the braised beef noodles. A dish we shared was the fried green beans (which was very tasty). However, the soup dishes were slightly too salty. Also, the quantity of beef was slightly less than I had expected. That said, the service was attentive, and excellent (before the 6pm rush). Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would dine here again.

We didn't really look it up before hand and I think we were expecting more of like a dive bar and couldn't have been more wrong. As soon as we walked in the door, we were really digging the decor and overall layout of the place. We were seated right away at the bar and got a couple drinks pretty quickly. The bartender was a younger guy and super friendly. He was very approachable and was really knowledgeable about the gluten free experience (my wife has celiac), which got us excited to come back another day for dinner. My wife got the Short Story Long, which had a really interesting, herbal/vegetal flavor that she really enjoyed overall. I got the Pulp Fiction, which was a flavor bomb all the way with the hint of rye flavor but also a hint of fruit and other layers that was just really fantastic. We will absolutely come back here with the kids for dinner some night!

While I wasn't particularly impressed with the flavor of the martini, I did enjoy the olives. Next, we tried the mushroom & truffle dumplings and lobster dumplings. Unfortunately, the lobster dumplings were quite dry and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The standout dish of the night was easily the baby corn, which was incredibly flavorful and probably the best thing we ordered. The cucumber salad, on the other hand, was pretty underwhelming. It lacked flavor overall but had a surprisingly strong spicy kick at the end. We finished the meal with bao buns, which were another disappointment. They were overly greasy and didn't leave a great final impression. Overall, I'd give the ambiance a 10/10 but the food a 5/10. The restaurant has a great vibe and beautiful atmosphere, but for the price point, I expected much more from the food. It's definitely a spot where the atmosphere outshines the menu.

This is by far the best Chinese food in Maine that I have come across. I'm originally from NY so…read morethat's not saying much!! Ive tried at least 4 other places in Kennebunk and Biddeford and have throw out over 1/2 my orders. Who the hell puts frozen peas and carrots in Egg Drop soup?? Awful stuff. But sad to say about Evergreen, their pricing is way too high now. I was there early this week and $35.00 for dumplings, egg drop soup and beef with broccoli. 6 dumplings @ $11.00; that's $1.83 each for a wonton wrapper with maybe an ounce of pork w/ some ginger, scallions and garlic in it. Plus the souffle cup of sauce isn't even half full and you run out before you finish all dumplings. Egg drop soup, $8.00 for chicken stock, corn starch and an egg or 2. Then $13.25 for Beef w/ Broccoli, mostly broccoli. I realize prices are higher and they need to make a profit. Their service is good; there is no ambiance as it's 90% or more take-out. QI've worked in the food industry for years, I know the cost of a dumpling, probably less than $.50 and egg drop soup costs less than $2.00 inclusive of container. Even though their food is good and they are very nice, it's going to be a while before I go back.
