I chose Crab Rangoons and they were perfect ! Sauce that came with them is homemade and amazing!! The General Tsos chicken was cooked to perfection, and they even ask how spicy you want it. I went with medium and it's just how I like it. The pork fried rice is standard maine fair...Its brown. Being from NY where it's yellow rice, I'll never get used to brown pork fried rice. We ordered 1 order of egg rolls (2 rolls come in 1 order), 1 chicken lo mein, 1 general tso chicken, and 1 fried rice. The total came out to be $37 which is pretty good given the generous portions. The chicken lo mein and general tso chicken were decent based on flavor profile and consistency. I did not eat the fried rice so I can't fairly review it but I do question the way it is made because of how dark the color is, burnt in its appearance. My boyfriend however, loved it and stated that this restaurant has "been making their fried rice like this for years", so to each their own. The egg rolls were huge and filled generously which is nice, but neither of us finished them because the flavor left something to be desired. Three containers of dipping sauce were provided and personally tasted like cinnamon apple sauce that had been blended into more of a liquid. It was not bad tasting but I can't put a name to it. As a person who enjoys Chinese food but doesn't consider themself to be a connoisseur of the cuisine by any means, China Gray did the trick. We wanted Chinese food to celebrate the new year and that is what we did. Tried the house lo mein, chicken fingers, general tsao chicken, beef and broccoli, and pork fried rice. Everything tasted good and the portions allowed us to enjoy eating it over the next couple days as leftovers. The food order was taken in an efficient manner and the food prepared quickly without any errors. Will definitely try a couple other meals from here in the future. read more

We ordered orange chicken with fried rice, general tso's chicken (lunch special) with vegetable fried rice, a week as the beef teriyaki and fried cheese (!) appetizers. The two chicken entrees were mediocre. To me they were almost indistinguishable in terms of taste. The chicken was dry and saucy with no vegetables. I had ordered the general tso's as "medium" spicy but it was really really not. The vegetable fried rice was an upcharge from the pork fried rice that comes with lunch specials. The upcharge was worth it, it was a full variety of large vegetables as you'd get with a vegetable lo mein. Our apps were the big winners with us though - the beef teriyaki was tender, not chewy, flavorful but not overly sweet. According to my partner, it ranks as possibly the best beef teriyaki they've had since Lang's Express in Portland closed. And I've eaten a lot of takeout Chinese food in my life, but I've never seen FRIED CHEESE on a Chinese menu. This place perfectly satisfies my Chinese food cravings! Not pictured but TRY THE FRIED CHEESE. My friend told me to get this as my side (comes with the meal) and I'm so glad I listened. Small location with nice ladies behind the counter taking orders. We wanted to do a car date so we got take out and they packaged everything very nicely so nothing spilled. I really enjoyed the dumplings from this place since it was a good ratio of dough to filling. Not a huge fan of the fried rice but I did enjoy the general tso chicken. Another day off wandering drive. Realized it was after 1pm and stopped at the nearest option we could agree on. Had to find an online menu (no indication of menus being inside the door). Order decided, we called the number on the door and placed it. They use the last 4 digits of your number to id the order, not names apparently. 1 egg roll, sm beef teriyaki, lunch general Tso, orange chicken entree. Reasonable prices and portions. Egg roll: as a new york jew, run of the mill standard which IS WHAT I WANT. If you want creative or special filling, jog on. Beef teriyaki: sm order is 3 and i was super happy. Meaty and moist. Not jerky thin or stringy. Not overly sweet or lacking flavor. I have been.looking for a teriyaki to replace my beloved Lang's since they closed...this will do fine. The lunch comes with pork fried rice and making it veg is a +$2 charge (i think that she said $2..) but an upcharge for sure. Wife said they are fresh and.chunky veggies, so worth it. The chicken (she asked medium spice) actually had none. My orange chicken was less than meh. The pork fried rice looked to have WAY too much soy sauce added to it since it was nearly black. We legitimately had issue figuring out which chicken was which cuz they tasted the same. The size of my entree gave it away...that's all that did it tho. The best we have found so far within miles of where we live. Our regular Westbrook spot has been closed for weeks, so we have tried many others , and stopped by China Gray on the way back from Auburn. Delicious food, I over ate it was so good. Worth a trip if you can do it. We will def return. 5-29-2020 we returned. Oh my, delicious. We got chic fingers, crab rangoons, fried jumbo shrimp, pork fried rice and chicken chop suey. $38 for all that. We have enough for another three meals. Lately I have been on a chicken noodle soup kick. As I was going home from work , I called and wanted to try their soup. They have included some veggie strips unless other places however the flavor of the broth itself is not there. I usually want to try something basic and gauge how it is before I try other dishes. For the restaurant it is fair in price and the quality of the food for the area. I try to support local businesses and I will give extra chances for off days but the customer service when you go in or call is just bad. The owner it is all fine but the daughter that works is just rude. You feel like that you are bothering her because you are ordering or calling in. Even if you say hello or thank you for your meal she never response and just gives this look like what ever. I don't know what happened to this place, but it's gone down hill, hard. We use to LOVE this place and would go all the time. But the last few times have seemed sort of off, and this last time was horrible. Really dry, no flavor, and some of it just downright inedible. Eating it made me sick, and my dogs wouldn't even eat the chicken. I cannot say how much this disappoints me, as I would drive an hour to go here as it was my favorite Chinese food restaurant in the state. We even go here for our Christmas dinner....yup, just like in the movie The Christmas Story!!! This place is just OK. I ordered take out so I cannot comment on table service. The place was deserted on a Friday at dinnertime, but appeared to be doing a steady takeout business. The food we ordered was inconsistent. The sesame chicken was plentiful and pretty tasty, and the Rangoon was decent but Spring rolls lacked flavor and the cabbage inside uncooked. Whenever I go visit my parent's home in New Glouceater, I always manage to convince them to get China Gray takeout :) it's not too hard to twist their arm for this one. Their portions are HUUUUGE, which makes my mouth just water when we open the meal packages. The prices are fantastic for what you get, the quality is very good, and the staff (or owners, not sure which) are SO friendly. Kung Pao- delish! We get extra spicy Chicken fingers- the bomb Fried rice- my favorite Pretty much we have never disliked anything here. Driving through gray two weeks ago I stopped to get some food, Chinese is my favorite and this place China Gray takes it to a new level. There food is fresh and they make it hot, not to mention there's always more than enough for lunch the next day, it's so heavy and all quality! I live over 20 minutes away and today was my 3rd time back, it gets better everytime, consistent and great service to! I recommend everything I've had so far, General Tsos, Sweet and Sour, & Orange chicken, Beef with Peking, the spring and the egg rolls! This place is under new ownership and I hate to say it has gone very far down hill. We have ordered there 5 times for take out and each time we order our lo main with no water chestnuts. All 5 times they have had water chest nuts in it. If you ask for an extra duck sauce they WILL NOT GIVE YOU ONE!!!! Let me start by saying, I really wanted to like this place. The woman who took my order was very nice and accommodating. The location is good for us as we travel between Poland and North Yarmouth. But, alas, the food was just not that great. The serving size of the fried rice was huge. It was a small size but easily over a pint of rice. But there was no flavor to the rice. Not even the saltiness of soy sauce. The chicken fingers were squishy with grease. I don't know what was done to the beef teriyaki but the texture was weird, not "beef like". Mushy is the best way to describe it. The boneless pork had an off taste also. Just strange. So I'm sorry to say that I won't be going back. We recently moved to the area from a larger city. We stated looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately this was not it. My husband did like their pork wonton soup. It had more stuff in it and less broth. My son and I had the chicken and broccoli and it was not good. The chicken tasted off and had pieces of possibly fat in it. The sauce was a thick gravy and tasted like gravy with some Chinese flavoring added. You do get a lot of food and maybe other items are better tasting but I am not willing to spend the money to find out. read more
