I have a Sunny Boy inverter that was installed around 15 years ago. It recently showed an "Earth Fault" and wasn't working. I took a look at it myself and found that there was a blown fuse. I couldn't source the fuse at supply houses or electronics stores. I called a couple of photovoltaic solar system service companies thinking that they probably replace this fuse all of the time. I had to leave voice mails at a couple of service companies but Jim, of Your Energy Solutions, answered their phone. I explained my circumstances to Jim and he said "I have the fuse, and I'll sell it to you, but your problem is most likely the transformer in the inverter. The inverter has exceeded it's life expectancy, in fact I have about 5 bad ones siting in my warehouse right now. If you replace the fuse it most likely will just blow as soon as you turn it on." I went on talking with Jim about replacing the inverter. He informed me that my model has been discontinued but he has a couple of used ones that are working. He couldn't guarantee how long they would continue to work, which I completely understood. He mentioned something like "I'll give you one for a few hundred bucks. Or, the fuse runs around eighteen." I told him that I would think/talk to wife about it. My wife and I agreed that we should replace the inverter so I headed to Your Energy Solutions. Jim and I got to talking about newer models of inverters and the effiiciency with which they run. I let Jim know that I'm not in a position to upgrade at this time. There was other conversation about my particular circumstances, relocating my family temporarily and renting my house. I told him that we would be adding panels to our system, and potentially be upgrading when my family returns after a 2-year work commitment. I also told him that, because I'll be away on business for an extended period, and the used unit might give out that I was going to want a backup. I was plaaning to send the existing Sunny Boy to the manufacturer to be refurbished. He replied "They don't refurbish them, noone does." So he showed me a couple of units and said "This is what you got right?" "Yup," I replied. He placed two units on a cart and started walking out of his warehouse asking me where I was parked. We started to load them and cost for these units crossed my mind. He had mentioned earlier that he gets $70.00 for recycling these units. I told him that I would bring my known bad one to him to be receycled. So I started the "negotiations" with "So you mentioned a few hundred bucks, minus the $70.00 you would get for recyc..." Jim interrupted me and said "Don't worry about it. And you got a backup unit there in case the first one goes bad." I was stunned and didn't know what to say. He said "Just remember us when you come back and you're ready to add panels or upgrade. And let anyone that you know that is interested in a solar system about us." I was still stunned. I conveyed my appreciation as best I could. Fortunately, I have some skills when it comes to electrical work. I replaced the bad unit with the good unit in about an hour-and-a-half. I fired up the "new" unit and had a green light! As far as I can tell, my problem is solved. For the cost of a couple of phone calls, a drive over to Your Energy Solutions, and about a couple of hours replacing the unit. If I'm ever asked, and I will also go out of my way to tell family and friends this story, about a good solar company, Your Energy Solutions will be on the tip of my tongue. TLDR version: Amongst the Solar installers in East Bay, YES is top notch and your won't be disappointed with them! Solar is a huge investment for us as our electric bills were pretty low for getting proper return on investment within 10 years of install. But after good amount of research we shortlisted to go with YES. That was year 2015. We had a good experience working with one of the co-owners Jim who was very accommodating and understanding of our situation when we had to pause our project due to a problem on our side. We gave him our word that when we resume, we will go with YES. Fast forward to 2022, we decided that we were ready to proceed. So, we picked up from where we left off. The GOOD: In our opinion, the weakest part of their team was Sales! (which is great!) There was no pressure in up-selling, high pressure tactics to get us signing a contract. The BETTER: We again had the pleasure to work with the other co-owner Lou, who was accommodating, responsive and cordial, not to mention, reasonable to our requests on contracting, pricing and equipment inquiry. The BEST: If the above two aspect of YES's business were icing, the real cake were their core team of employees. Mia Taylor from their operations/project management team has been the real superstar. There were times when we were a bit frustrated and almost considered other alternatives than to proceed, had it not been for Mia. She was patient, professional and took the time to explain every nuance of Solar to us inquisitive customers. What we loved about working with Mia was that she always represented her company and never pushed the blame to anyone within her organization but balanced it with setting things right through explanation to a level and degree that was to our satisfaction. Throughout the entire process, we were kept informed, prepped of what to expect and when, what is the best option to proceed. Our install was done by the Green Team led by Ismael and his crew. They arrived on time, explained to us how things would work. They were very respectful of our home in terms of leaving it clean afterwards, keeping interactions to what was necessary, taking time to explain things when things needed adjustment to what was planned. Although we did not have direct interaction with Fabian from the Tech team, he seemed to be an equally reasonable fellow when we requested change on the day of install on conduit runs without a hitch. Overall, we would give a 10/10 to YES and would highly recommend their services. In February, 2016 YES installed a 3.5kW system using LG 315 panels and Enphase 280S microinverters. I couldn't be more pleased with the process or the results. Pros: 1. This company cares about customers, that was obvious from the start of bidding to completion of construction. 2. Because I had friends who had significant leaking after solar installation by another company, I hired a roofing contractor to inspect the roof mid-installation (after the brackets, but before the panels). The roofer said YES did a quality job. The Oakland building inspector said the same thing. And, my house stayed dry throughout the heavy storms in early March. 3. Pleasant and professional installers, lead by Favio. (sp?) He was very patient with me as I asked questions and requested modification to the subpanel conduit. 4. Competitive pricing: I got prices from five contractors, but I wanted LG panels and YES was one of only two contractors who had extensive experience with LG. One other contractor would install LGs, but had little experience, two other contractors only installed other panels. YES's cash price was the best overall. I worked first with Skip Woodward and finished with Dan Sisca in defining and pricing my requirements; both gentlemen were easy to work with and wanted to please. Minor Cons (no major cons): 1. Online contract-signing process was pretty slow. The original contract was, as one might expect, rather one-sided in favor of contractor. Dan worked with me to make changes and has told me that is under review for their newer contracts. 2. NEM application took business 4 days to submit rather than the promised "within 2 business days of your solar installation passing final inspection by the Building Department" and seemed to happen only after my prodding on day 3. On the positive note, PG&E turned on Net Metering within 4 days of the application, rather than the expected 10-15 days. So, no harm, no foul. 3. While I appreciated having a chance to review the location of the panels and I had them moved for access reasons, I wish I had a chance to see the schematic of where the conduit would go as I'd have made a modification that would have made the roof easier to walk. And similarly with the new subpanel, the electrical contractor asked me where the outside box would go and Favio asked where the inside box should go, but the inside conduit ended up not as "neat" as I would have liked. Overall, this contractor really cared about customer service and worked to make everything right. My solar system is working perfectly going into its third month now. I am a very meticulous client, and I would definitely hire them again. read more

We were pleased to purchase a solar system from Your Energy Solutions (YES). Every member of the company with whom we met was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional. We had all but decided not to install a solar system as, during the past two years, we had been overwhelmed with aggressive door knockers who, in response to our questions, could only respond with an amateurish "no problem". Then, we encountered John Darling at the Home and Garden Show at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. John is personable, extremely knowledgeable and low key. A five minute conversation soon turned into 30 minutes and an invitation to visit our home for further discussions. After several sessions and due diligence on our part, we decided to purchase a solar system from YES. John supported our concern that the installation be as attractive as possible. We were able to satisfy those desires based on the wide variety of available panels at YES and the cooperation of everyone involved in the layout of the arrays. Jesus and the installation team worked very efficiently and carefully on the tile roof. While doing so they were able to neatly route the conduit connecting the solar arrays to the PG&E meter through the attic. During the installation they cheerfully answered my many questions, always on the same "sheet of music" as the others. When I identified a design issue after the installation team had departed, Lou, the CEO, stopped by, evaluated my concerns and, after we agreed on the spot to a contract change, dispatched a team on Saturday to make the correction. Yes installed a turnkey system from dealing with the city permitting and inspection to the PG&E interface.They provided a software program for my PC as well as an App for my phone and I Pad with which I can monitor the status and performance of my solar system. The YES team did a simply outstanding job for us, from beginning to end. Because our family of five heavy electronics users -- plus a Nissan Leaf recently added to the mix -- consume a truly embarrassing amount of electricity every month, we knew meeting our goal of zeroing out our PG&E bill would involve a pretty nontrivial investment. Since we had learned that the "soft costs" in the industry (the $/watt beyond the costs of the panels, inverters, and installation hardware) varied widely, to make sure we were investing efficiently we took the time to work through a reasonably detailed RFP process with a dozen potential providers across a range of scales and business models. YES was by far the most responsive, complete, and professional in their response -- and their pricing and installation timeline were the most competitive. Their professionalism and quality carried through the entire project. Everything went without a single hitch. The YES team found a creative technical and financial solution to the fact that Shapell was certainly NOT thinking about solar when they scattered vents etc. around our roof at construction-time 20 years ago. Securing approvals was timely, and the installation crew came as scheduled and did their work like pros. Cosmetics of the installation, including conduit and electrical enclosures, are first-rate -- they even painted the pipes on the roof to match our tiles. Our 8 kW install has been PVing away since early December, and we're enjoying watching its productivity on the well-done Enphase monitoring web app. YES went out of their way to make sure the install happened in time to take the tax credit on our 2015 return, which also allowed the El Niño rains in January to test their install for leaks (no issues there). Once our agreement was finalized in early September, we moved on to the design and permitting phase where we were assigned a dedicated YES Project Manager, Celeste R. as well as a project status website where we could monitor the progress of our project. I met Jim from YES at the Pleasanton Home show in early 2014. I had been looking into a PV system for about six months and received quotes from 2 of the big solar companies. I didn't get the car salesmen pitch from Jim. He's both affable and knowledgeable and really enjoys getting into the details - I had a lot of technical questions. After iterating for a few weeks we had a final 7kW on-grid PV design, with quality components, competitive price, and a very reasonable time line. The installation process was smooth and painless. Why can't all construction projects run like this? Angel and the installation crew were very professional. They asked questions to make sure we were in agreement on precise location of plumbing and the inverter box and then just did what they do. The entire installation took a few days. During clean up they replaced broken tiles, even a few that were previously broken. There was only 1 minor issue in the entire process. The wireless AP box would occasionally drop the connection with the inverter box. This connection is used to get energy production status over the internet. Co-founder Lou, however, was very quick to resolve the problem. I live in Pleasanton, have had my system since March 2013, and I have nothing but great things to say about Jim and his team at Your Energy Solutions. I was referred to Jim by a neighbor when I was considering solar. The entire experience was easy and informative without any attempts to high pressure close me. Jim walked through my PG&E bill and explained how to use solar to get me to the lowest rate tier without overbuilding my system because it's not worth it to sell power back to PG&E (the PUC mandates the rate of $.04 kWh when selling back to PG&E). Jim provided options on panels made by different vendors and helped me do the comparison on buy vs lease (I chose to buy due to the federal rebate and that I'm not planning to move out of my house anytime soon). The installation was a total breeze and the team was great. The whole process was so simple and painless. The team has also been great with the ongoing support. There was a issue with the Envoy Monitoring System and they installed a separate dedicated circuit for it at no cost to me, and everything is working great. Now more than a month since my installation of my solar panels were complete and almost 3 weeks since I have been officially connected to the grid and continue to be happy with my choice of going with Your Energy Solutions (YES). It started with my initial quote from Gary Sandusky. We was patient, provide me all the information I requested (and then some) and answered all my questions. He clearly was looking to provide me what I needed at the best value. My great experience continued with my Project Manager, Fabian Garza. He was very proactive in providing me status of my project and help me with all the questions and requests I had. My installation coordinator (Alex) was also great. They installed my system quickly, in less than a day, and did a good job of cleaning up. The project was not without hiccups. We did not pass the first city inspection due to minor items the inspector wanted to see. Alex was quick and resolving the requests from the inspector and Fabian was diligent in getting the re-inspection schedule quickly. System Installed: 4.275kW SunPower ACPV System w/ micro inverters Roof type: Lt Wt Tile I met Jim and Lou at a home show at the Pleasanton Fair Grounds. They were the only company to have actual hardware and pricing at the show. They answered all of our many questions, it was obvious to me that they had done many installations. Out of several companies, their pre-sales site inspection was the most comprehensive, and they gave me several installation alternatives. They allayed my fear of roof tile damage by replacing any tiles damaged during installation. From pre-sales through installation, Jim and Lou were responsive, honest, experienced, hard working, thorough, flexible, and accommodating . Their installation crew was fast, professional and cleaned up after each day of work. They handled all the permit and rebate paperwork, including my corporate SunPower rebate. The main reason for installing a solar system was to offset the energy cost for my new electric car. I appreciate that Jim and Lou took on the challenge of working with PG&E, which included last minute system changes, to get me the best system possible. Fidelity Home Energy installed a Home Solar System on my home. Hugo, the Sales Manager, is extremely knowledgeable concerning technical details of the Home Solar system. He presented the system in a method that was comprehensive yet could be well understood. .Hugo estimated our PG@ energy bill would be reduced by 95%. Alesha and Alex, the Installation Staff, kept me informed of the installation schedule and the job was completed on time. The City inspection was conducted and revealed two (2) items in need of attention which were corrected in minimum time during a follow up visit by Max and Jarred, with the installation crew. During a follow-up up city inspection the installation was deemed satisfactory. While waiting for a PG&E connection date I made a call to the customer service line and Alesha and Hugo both called me on a Saturday to answer my questions thereby embracing excellent Customer service. As expected, the entire installation process was not without glitches however; the Fidelity team kept me informed and took care of them in a timely manner. Got introduced to Jim and Lou at Your Energy Solutions (YES) through Costco and Grape Solar. We started with roughly 8 installers in the area before deciding to go with these guys with 4.25kw (17 panel -Enphase micro inverter) system. Dan the sales guy was/is awesome ready to explain every details on how they can help on your energy need/s. Looking at our usage he had earlier suggested a much smaller system, quickly understood where I was going with my investment, he and Lou were able to custom design a system for us, which I really appreciate. These guys know their stuff and customer needs very well, easy to work with and extremely dependable. I highly recommend if you are in market for any of your energy needs to give these guys a call, you will be GLAD you did , as it was for me. When they gave me the date and duration of the installation , they completed the job a day in advance while I was out of town and even made sure even aesthetics are well taken care off, painted all pipes to match my home exterior /roof tile color. No mess left around after installation... I AM ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER for sure..and can't wait to see the savings on our 1st PG&E bill! read more
