Simply stunned by their new location. The high quality tea and the aesthetic of their store is giving bougie tea store. Young tea has always been my top ranked bubble tea in greater Seattle and I was anticipating this store opening. I would frequent their location in ID/Chinatown before they closed down. My go-to drinks are usually their hojicha latte and their jasmine milk tea. I cannot find another shop that gives me the same satisfaction of jasmine tea as here. Location was the only thing that was unusual since it seemed like an auto shop and car dealership area, but I can see this area expanding as the next food stop area. Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #69 I heard about Young Tea opening a shop in Bellevue after visiting the Wallingford location a couple of weeks ago and decided to drop by since i was grocery shopping in the area. This location is strangely located in the back of the building, necessitating a drive along the side to the rear parking lot. Luckily, there's plenty of parking in that area. Unlike Wallingford, this location also sells food, which I saw multiple people ordering. On the menu, they currently sell what they call Taiwanese Noodle Soup, which looks like mee sua with the choice of either pig intestines or squid. I also overheard a couple of customers ask for tea eggs, but I didn't see that on the menu. I read in an article that they will be adding additional food items in the future - I can't wait to see what else they conjure up. Otherwise, they have a very robust drink menu, much larger than Wallingford, filled with a ton of varieties of milk tea and brewed tea. They even have a separate "premium collection" of teas. I didn't notice that they had glass jars full of tea for smelling until I reviewed my pictures! That makes this boba shop trend more towards a legitimate tea shop than most. High Mountain Oolong Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($7.70) - Starting with the tea - the high mountain oolong is excellent. It's exceptionally fragrant with a bit of nuttiness, and a vegetal, forest-like quality that I wouldn't consider to be too grassy. It's a high quality brew with no bitterness on the tongue. Half sweet is on the less sweet side, comparable to 25% sweet or even less at most boba shops. They add half and half for creaminess and to enhance the richness, which mixes very well with the tea. They use crushed ice, so it melts easily. At half, it's the perfect amount, not diluting the tea flavor whatsoever. The boba served at the Bellevue location is very consistent with Wallingford. It's too firm and the consistency between pearls is a bit lacking. Some pieces have firm enough centers that they are hard and grainy. Other have much better chew and bounce. On average, however, the boba leans towards the firm side, with most pearls being quite rough in the center. They do marinate the boba and there's a very nice molasses-esque taste biting into the pearls. Milk Tea Rating: 5/5 Boba Rating: 3.5/5 Young Tea serves some of the highest quality milk tea drinks in and around Seattle - if not taking the top spot, definitely in my top 5. This location continues the standard that the Wallingford location displays, with top notch milk tea, but somewhat mediocre boba. Bathrooms - Single unisex room. The door is disguised - it's very nicely designed to fit in with the wall and other decor. read more

Super nice ambience with a ton of space to hang out with friends! The interior is very well decorated, probably one of the prettiest boba shops I've been to in WA. The staff is helpful and kind. Their drinks are less sweet than most boba spots. I usually order 30% sweet at boba spots, but at Young Tea I ordered my assam milk tea with 50% and then amped it to 80% after taking a few sips. The tea flavor is strong. I personally wasn't a fan of the boba but would come back to try different drinks and toppings! read more

We couldn't be more excited that Young Tea has finally opened a location in Bellevue! My wife and I were regulars at the original Chinatown spot until they closed, and while the Wallingford location is great, it's a bit too far for us. This new Bellevue space is very nice! It's trendy, spacious, and has plenty of seating. We had the High Mountain Oolong Milk Tea with Boba and the Assam Milk Tea with Aiyu Jelly; both were so good like we remembered! Highly recommend going for 100% sugar since they use brown sugar, which is naturally less sweet. We also prefer less ice and our drinks turned out perfect. With summer just around the corner, we're looking forward to coming back more often. Perfect timing! Young Tea continues to deliver great quality, and we're so happy to have them closer to home. Young Tea is my favorite bubble tea place in Seattle area. They have a great variety of drinks. Their drinks have great tea flavor without leaving the bitter aftertaste. Their boba have great texture. I also enjoyed their ai-yu jelly. I love the ambience and interior design of the new Bellevue/Redmond location. It is more spacious than the Wallingford one. Went here on a rainy day. The parking lot has a few slopes and gets narrow in some places, but there was ample parking. There are many tables to sit with your drink but we opted to take it to go. The front staff was very friendly and explained that their roasted oolong was on the stronger side (it was indeed the strongest I've ever had). We got 2 drinks (note that we like our drinks less sweet): - Roasted Oolong Milk Tea (2/5) w/ Boba (2/5). The roasted oolong was really strong. I originally got it at 50% sweetness but had the staff make it 100% sweetness after trying a sip. I personally didn't like how strong it was and would prefer the drink to be creamier. The boba was on the harder side. - Iron Buddha Plus (4/5) 30% sweetness w/ Boba. Good tea flavor, not as creamy as other places. 30% sweetness was perfect. They have many tea options and I can tell the tea is high quality. I am hopeful that I will find a tea option I like here. I will definitely come back to try other teas and toppings, mostly because their service was great! read more

Unlike other tea shops, I would actually want to sit, read a book or chat with friends. The tea selection itself was great. new young tea in bel-red!!! overall the space is huge and such a great spot to come for studying. finding the shop itself was really confusing, and we didn't realize it was on the other side of the building, so we parked quite far. if you're a tea lover, you'll definitely like young tea. their drinks are definitely on the less sweet side, so a 50% sweetness drink may be a bit bitter, but i don't mind too much. i got the mango oolong tea at 50% sugar which was perfect with their house made jam. their boba definitely tasted like the pre packaged kind, but not terrible. read more

this place immediately relaxed me as soon as i stepped into it. the music is so healing, and the cozy atmosphere fit it perfectly. i am a big fan of oolong tea, and i am so excited to try all the different kinds of oolong tea they have. i tried the high mountain oolong with regular sugar and regular ice, and it tasted like yeah oolong tea on a high mountain. you can definitely tell the exceptional quality of the tea. i also got the tea egg, and it was beautiful and elegant and tasted very authentic taiwanese, which i love. this place is the real deal. i just wish they had a bigger space and a better location, and i wish they had more food options. read more

Young Tea in Bellevue! The original location is my favorite boba place in Seattle, so I was really happy for this one to open. It's huge! Gorgeous interior and so far, easy parking. Their teas are excellent. I normally stick to matcha, hojicha, and oolong, and every variant I've had of those has been amazing. Really solid flavor. And yes, their teas are less sweet, which takes fixing the first time (you have to learn what sweetness level you really want). As for the boba, it's super al dente. I personally love it - normal boba is just too mushy on the outside. It's the exact same difference with East Asian vs Italian noodle cooking - same soft vs hard debate. I kind of think Young should do what no places do and make two batches. It'd blow everyone's minds and make all customers happy. read more

Happy to see this store open in Bellevue on NE 20th. I wasn't a big fan of their Chinatown store (since closed) which was tiny and had a dungeon like claustrophobic parking lot which seldom had space. This store is brand new. I can't say I love the seating, which is informal, kind of like a home or a loosely planned communal space. I would prefer regular table seating. However, what I like are the drinks. I only order two types myself: Iron Buddha and the Taro Smoothie. I take sips of other teas my family orders but those two are my favorites. In my opinion, the teas are always strong flavored and really well made, not weak or artificial. The taro smoothie is just a smoothie with taro taste. It's very consistent and has always been the same. If I could only pick one tea shop, this is the one I'd go to. read more

It was our first time trying Young Tea since we've never been to the Seattle location. We ordered: Signature Milk Tea & Wuyi Wild Black Tea - Both teas were excellent with plenty of tea flavor, however the boba was too hard. They must fix this. Fresh and properly cooked boba should not be so difficult to chew, it should be more QQ (as a Taiwanese person who has had plenty of bubble tea even in Taiwan). Mango Smoothie - It's okay, good but nothing special, more runny than other mango smoothies in the area. We got a sample of their Premium Collection Jasmine Pearl made using their special brewing machine, and while it did brew impressively fast and fun to watch, the result was lacking in flavor. I grew up with Taiwanese and Chinese teas and worked at a tea tasting store before, you never over-brew teas, but the sample we had tasted very under-brewed and almost like water. I truly hope they improve these things, especially the boba, because I really, really want to keep coming back and supporting local family-owned businesses. The staff were all wonderful and welcoming, and the interior and space is gorgeous! But great staff and a beautiful bubble tea shop doesn't mean much if you can't get the boba right! I'm a fan of the mango green milk tea with boba from here--because the drinks are less sweet even at full sweetness, I get 75% or 50% at the lowest depending on my mood. Boba doesn't have the most flavor, but is still enjoyably soft and chewy. What really shines for me is how much the tea flavor comes through in their drinks! Also a lovely spacious seating area, and I've never had to wait long at all for my drink. read more

Went for the soft opening and got the osmanthus oolong brewed tea with boba. - Seems like since they brew their tea on the spot, so it took awhile for my drink to come out. - The tea itself, wasn't bad. However, my colleague ordered the High Mt brewed tea and said that it was very watery and could barely taste the tea. - The boba was a little on the harder side - I think it needs to be cooked for a little longer. - Watching other people's drinks, I think there was an option to get a smaller sized drink but the menu didn't mention any sizes so if that's the case, it would be nice if that they added that information. Overall, I would say that for a soft opening it wasn't bad but needs small improvements here and there. I would give this place another shot in a few months after they settle down read more

For those that are lactose intolerant - be aware: they state milk alternatives are $0.75. But if you order certain drinks, it's actually $1.75 extra because "these drinks use more milk". So....do you charge $1.00 more for those drinks that don't use milk alternatives? If not, then why are you gouging those of us who cannot drink milk? As is, half of the drink is ice. Just how much "more milk" do you add to justify charging $1 more, that the $0.75 charge for milk alternative does not cover? Our cost for the same drink as those that can drink milk is 24% more. I won't be returning to this shop as it seems pretty petty to add an additional charge to an already additional charge. read more
