    Huge antique mirror, shattered.
    T R.

********DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE******** I was shown an estimate, including packing help, the morning of the move for 5-6 hours of service. I would be charged per hour. It ended up taking them a shocking 12 hours, and my bill was over 3k. I never would have agreed to this job had I known it would have taken 12 hours. You Move Me manipulated my entire moving process, causing my final bill to skyrocket. I believe they did this intentionally and that I was scammed. You Move Me's packing help involves crew members packing items into boxes and charging for each box supplied. Most of the boxes they charged me for were almost empty; several had only one small item in them. They packed like this to steal even more money from me, using as many boxes as possible regardless of my actual need. The boxes were packed without care. Items inside were bent and crumpled. Almost all fragile items inside boxes they packed were not secured or wrapped. Our new wood flooring was deeply scratched, a cabinet shelf was broken, our deck surface was scratched in multiple places, doors and door frames were damaged, both washer and dryer doors were scratched, our large antique mirror was shattered, collectors puzzle tins were dented and their contents mixed together inside of a cabinet. You Move Me's packers were expected to pack the contents of all cabinets before moving them, but failed to do so. A side table that should have been emptied by them was full and shoved in the van upside down, damaging items inside and now the drawer will not shut. Various other items were damaged. I am devastated that items we took such good care of are now in terrible shape. Our new home does not look new anymore due to the crews' negligence. One of the crew members was resting in the truck and another who had cut his hand was trying to work with one hand super slowly. One of them was video chatting with a friend; another texting constantly. The crew dragged out the time this way. I was still charged per worker, per hour, regardless of their speed or skill level. After a lot of back and forth, it was requested I sign an agreement promising not to take further action on their company in return for 50 dollars and the replacement of 1 mirror. I responded that I would not be signing the agreement. I'm trying to get my money back with the help of the Better Business Bureau, but it's a struggle. The bare minimum of a refund won't even cover the cost of all damages. The company wants to send out a handyman. There is no way a handyman can repair a completely shattered mirror, deep gashes to wood flooring, scratched glass, collectors puzzle tin dents, etc. I've told them the handyman cannot fix my issues, repeatedly, but they keep pushing it. They're saying if he can't fix anything, they will reimburse me 60 cents per pound of damage. How can they get away with this? You Move Me did not perform to the quality promised on their contract. They delivered an abysmally inaccurate estimate and horrifying service, while inflating my total charge unethically. They have caused incredible hardship on our household due to their extreme lack of care.

I was deeply disappointed -- this company came recommended to me by a friend after the great experience they received, but unfortunately, the people who moved me were rude, unprepared, and ended up losing screws and breaking multiple pieces of furniture. After calling and emailing them multiple times with photos and reporting this incident, management called me back and said "we'll look into it and give you an update" and never responded. All I was left with was a bill more than what was estimated, and a bunch of damaged furniture.

I hired You Move Me. They broke a piece of furniture. I called them and asked them to take notes about the incident. The mover did not self-report the incident. They denied reimbursement. I took them to court. They did not show up. I won a judgement against them. They still have not paid.

This is how they prevent negative reviews when they break your furniture.

You Move Me is a terrible company and you should never trust them with your furniture because they did more than $1,100 in damage to mine. As a former professional mover, I can say without any hesitation that their staff are not well trained (or don't care?) and their "insurance" is beyond a joke. In order to even get a refund for their "services," they require waiving all claims and removal of all complaints and social media reviews. No wonder they have such good reviews. I used You Move Me once in 2014 and they did a great job. I was really happy with the team and they used stretch wrap and pads to protect my furniture and talked to me about concerns; they were a delightful team. When they moved my furniture again (this time into a rental truck) the movers didn't bother to use stretch wrap, were rough with my belongings and damaged all of my antique furniture. It is really important to note the difference in moves: if they load your furniture into their truck, they (in theory) will cover the damage they do. If they load into a rental truck, you sign a waiver saying they aren't responsible for any damages done from travel or unloading. What this means in reality is that the movers know that their managers will deny all claims so they don't have to be careful. Their sales manager blamed me for the damage and said they weren't liable for because it was being moved into a rental truck, even though the damage was done during the loading process. As a person who trained my share of movers, they get bonus points for being very personable and friendly. I gave the team the benefit of the doubt on the corners they cut during the load -- not using stretch wrap, dropping furniture on the ground -- but realized the extent of my mistake after they left when I looked in the truck. Among the mistakes I saw: -The entire load was secured with a cheap, foam mattress ratcheted to the walls, but the ratchet wasn't even tight and the mattress was loose. The whole thing would have shifted as soon as the truck moved. -They stacked thousands of dollars worth of bikes (in boxes labeled "this end up") the wrong way - The load had giant gaps between pieces that were unsupported -They stacked 80ish pounds of boxes on top of my coffee table and probably another 60 on my lamp table. It was pretty clear that the people who loaded this truck either 1) didn't know what they were doing or 2) didn't care. Either option is pretty bad and turned out very poorly for me. I had to do significant work to repack the truck to make the load safe for transit before I was able to drive away. Sadly, the damage had already been done. I'm certainly kicking myself now for not taking pictures to prove it, since the management will absolutely deny everything. After posting this review, the sales manager called me to apologize, and said he would repair my furniture; he also asked me to take down this review, which I did. This started a process of more than two months of emails, calls and appraisals. Eventually, I found out it would cost more than $1,100 to repair my furniture. Upon learning how expensive it would be to repair my furniture, You Move Me decided not to repair the damage after all, instead they offered to give me a refund for the cost of the move ($308) as long as I waived all claims and remove all social media reviews. While I appreciate not having to pay more than $100 an hour to watch people damage my stuff, it is a little blackmail-ish and it isn't going to fix the scratches and gouges in my furniture. If I were you, I wouldn't trust anything you care about to them. They use the same crews for their 1-800-JUNK business, which probably says it all.

The scratch extends for about 15 yards where the rolled a heavy cart with decorative metal wheels through my apartment.

Minneapolis moving services are some of the most expensive anywhere I've experienced. I hope that simply means that MN companies pay their labor well. We paid $1365 + $180 tip (optional, but come on) for a 3-man crew at $260/hr (2-hour minimum), and we obviously also provided snacks and drinks (they declined breakfast). For comparison, in San Francisco it was $250/hr for 5 men. The rate was with both the weekday discount and winter pricing. Weekend would have been $285/hr for 3 men, and $345 for 4 men. There was no trip fee. Robert, in particular was incredible; he moved a 6 drawer dresser down a tight stairwell alone. They needed to remove the front door at one point, but did so without issue. They also were happy to use our own furniture pads and plastic wrap (leftover from a cross-country move). At one point, they had to back the huge truck through the alley on icy ground, and had no problems. Also, it was easy to provide them inventory by email, and easy to reach them by phone. Lots of moving companies were annoying to contact, which is partly why we chose this one. One a few minor issues: one piece of furniture was shedding pieces of wood. I think they were reinforcements put on by previous owners. I didn't even know they were there, and it doesn't seem to have affected the furniture. They also forgot a couple of items in the yard, including a big smoker we had to move on our own. It's partly my fault, I told them we were good to go. Also, we were made to sign a lot of paperwork, and at various points it was for things like "you confirm that nothing is broken and everything has arrived" and, like, it's weeks later and I'm still unpacking, there is no way I would have known for sure. It's fine, because so far we have had no issues, but if someone did have issues it might feel like being strong-armed via contract. The guys in the truck were just doing their jobs, so it's the process that is problematic more than anything. We would use these guys again!

Pros: -1 My slot was originally at 8:30a, but with days notice I needed to start earlier, and they were able to move it up to 8am. 2- Each individual I spoke to on the phone when setting up the appointment seemed patient, was helpful, and never came off pushy like movers can (at times). 3- The 3 guys sent were overall respectful. The lead seemed to have his stuff together and knew what he was doing, the other two (who he said were newer) weren't as efficient, but again respectful. Cons: 1- Service was from 8a-11a for the equivalent of a studio. 2- They came 15mins late, the commute between the two locations should have been 15mins but ended up being 30 because they had to stop for gas. Unfortunately when they arrived a garbage truck was now blocking the loading dock so that added another 10mins, and another 5-10mins was lost because toward the end of the job I went to my car and when I returned the lead mover was just standing outside the unit because "the door was locked", which it wasn't. He just didn't use his muscle to push open. So in all, over 45mins of wasted time, which costed me. 3- When I questioned their timing, I was told it's because I had a lot of boxes. To be fair, I did, but they were mainly smaller boxes (like for shipping). If anything i think they dragged their feet to milk the time which is very unscrupulous. 4- Their failure to used a door stopper in the beginning resulted in the unit door being scratched, which one guy tried to convince me was there before . FALSE! Anyway, the damage was shared with CMM, but there was never follow-up. Ultimately, maintenance repainted it. 5- Despite boxes being labeled for the rooms they belonged in, they paid little attention. For example those for kitchen in bedroom. 6- I ended up having to help move the dresser since it wasn't placed where I requested. By the time it was realized 2/3 of guys were at the truck and lead asked if I could help. Since I was paying for the service I would have rather not, but it was easier than having to do it alone later. Perhaps I should send them an invoice. 7- Before they took off, I wanted to just to take a peak at the back of the truck to ensure nothing was left behind. The reception to that request was odd. I mean whats the big deal?! Ultimately I went and ensured. 8- In all the delays costed me and I paid about $300-$400 more than anticipated. Funny thing is the lead kept stressing the whole gratuity thing at the end. I gave them each $20 and the look I got seemed like it wasn't enough. It instantly left me wishing I had given ZERO. My last thing which is more of a suggestion, CMM should consider investing in tees or some branded merch for their staff. Having guys show up in sneaker, crocs, and street clothes really didn't provide a professional look which yes, is possible for movers.

I hired movers in Minneapolis and loaded up the truck. Four days later, u-pack arrived with my stuff ready for my Washington DC movers to unload it. If I had one complaint (I don't, but /if/ I did,), it would be that u-pack won't help you on the other end of the transaction. If you're moving to a suburb or a place with a loading dock, you're 100% fine. I was moving into the city and needed to have parking for this semi, which proved very difficult since I didn't yet live in the city. Even so, U-Pack worked with me to find a visible solution and ended up storing my items on the truck for a few extra days until my parking permits could take effect. Final comment on this: on what was already a very challenging and stressful move, their dispatchers and drivers were a 6/5 stars. They were so nice and patient. I told one dispatcher the problem with parking and she said "you sound so stressed, sweetie. Don't worry, we'll find you a solution. Welcome to DC." We hired two movers with a truck for an 11 am arrival. We did not hear any confirmation until I reached out at 10 am. They said they wouldn't make it until noon. No biggy. Three men arrived in a U-Haul truck shortly after 12pm, with one making a comment about how he just woke up. I was surprised they sent out three, but know their contract states that they can if they feel its necessary. I was expecting professional, on time, careful, efficient movers based on reviews but received the bare minimum. They dropped several boxes and a small weight set, luckily nothing was broken. They also scratched our new stairway with our crib. Our home was 1 master bedroom with a decent sized nursery and a small office. We had everything boxed and ready to go for them, but they only arrived with one dolly, making the time it took to move things extremely prolonged. We expected the job to take roughly 5 hours, but when the movers arrived, one stated that the load up shouldn't take more than 3 hours! We were ecstatic. Unfortunately that was not the case, as it took them 6 hours, even adding another mover towards the end. I wish I could be empathetic, however the time they spent on their phones was problematic. We sent them home before they finished due to the time lingering on, and after complaining about their service, they asked us to cease communication and have threatened legal action, which we plan to take. They offered a small discount after arguing with my significant other, but told us it expires in four days. I wanted badly for my first experience hiring movers to be great, and I thought that the decent price and reviews were enough to earn my trust. I wish I hadn't. I'm sure many people have had great experiences, but the hostility towards us and the poor service we received makes me second guess the legitimacy of some of the reviews, especially after 10 years of business.

Unfortunately, during the move a leak occurred on a fridge that was moved - the company reconnected the power and the water line, returned the fridge against the wall, collected payment and left. Fortunately, I came back the next day to a vacant house to gather anything left behind, and found a wet carpet, a wet bathroom, wet hardwoods, flood ceilings, damaged HVAC, etc. The carpet is ruined, the hardwoods are ruined in numerous areas. I brought this to Tyrell's attention, and it has been brushed off by him numerous times. The company claims that the water line was "done as a courtesy", which I contest - the service was offered, and was paid for. It is estimated that I have $35,000-$40,000 in damages throughout the house. With that said, I'm not mad that it occurred, I understand these things can happen. What frustrates me is that after repeated attempts to gather the companies insurance information, they have refused to provide it. The companies website clearly notates that "We are a professional moving company in Minneapolis with the required licenses and insurance." It is a requirement that moving companies maintain insurance. It is my right to file a claim. The fact that they have been unwilling after numerous attempts to provide an insurance carriers name, let alone a point of contact or policy number, is highly concerning. I have contacted the Attorney General's Office, Better Business Bureau, Department of Labor, and will continue looking for resources to ensure that this is dealt with adequately. The main job of someone that runs a moving company is to deal with customer issues swiftly, and that has not been the case here at all. I would highly recommend doing due dilligence before hiring Tyrell's crew, they are quick to collect payment, but awfully slow to remediate any customer concerns.
