This company goes above and beyond! I moved from Minneapolis to Washington DC. While other companies were quoting me nearly 3x as much and worse service, U-Pack came thru with a much better quote and unbelievable customization for what I needed. I hired movers in Minneapolis and loaded up the truck. Four days later, u-pack arrived with my stuff ready for my Washington DC movers to unload it. If I had one complaint (I don't, but /if/ I did,), it would be that u-pack won't help you on the other end of the transaction. If you're moving to a suburb or a place with a loading dock, you're 100% fine. I was moving into the city and needed to have parking for this semi, which proved very difficult since I didn't yet live in the city. Even so, U-Pack worked with me to find a visible solution and ended up storing my items on the truck for a few extra days until my parking permits could take effect. Final comment on this: on what was already a very challenging and stressful move, their dispatchers and drivers were a 6/5 stars. They were so nice and patient. I told one dispatcher the problem with parking and she said "you sound so stressed, sweetie. Don't worry, we'll find you a solution. Welcome to DC." Let's face it: Moving is stressful, but UPack made it so much better! They were responsive, on time, and beat the price on all of the competitors! Their policy of pay for only what you use is great - we had two ReloCubes delivered and only used one. No hidden fees or taxes, unlike Pods! Reading the BBB reviews of Packrat scared me away, so I stuck it out with UPack and couldn't be more satisfied. My ReloCube arrived well ahead of schedule and it was dropped off early in the morning. Just a word of advice though: When loading your contents, don't call to schedule your pickup until it's totally ready! They don't offer pickup windows. I asked them to pick it up at the end of the day (which they said they'd try but couldn't guarantee it) and it came at 10am - yikes I wasn't ready! When we needed to adjust our moving date, not a problem. And they honored the original price. NO hidden fees. They suck. There was a giant hole in the roof that they repaired with silver tape. It leaked and wrecked a bunch of our stuff and didn't want to pay us for the damages. I have pictures of the hole in the roof with that being taped up. read more

I first contacted PODS and they were too busy. I then contacted UPack and they were great! Customer service was wonderful. I had one cube dropped off and then transported to a different state. The driver was courteous and notified me before he arrived. Easy to load and it was picked up right away, transported quickly, and drop off was equally convenient. Yes, it is expensive, but the quality of service, ease of use, and having it driven to the next place was worth the price. Also, nothing was broken or shifted out of place during the transport. When's the last time a moving company employee used your microwave to warm up his pizza? Try Moving Staffers! In June 2018, the Minnesota Moving Staffers sent a crew of three men, late. They complained that their two-wheel dolly blew a wheel. It was going to slow them down and they would go over their 3 hr limit. Worse, they didn't use any of the 10 blankets I provided or straps to secure the load. My dining room table and two desks were the major pieces that were destroyed, along with lamps and kitchen appliances. When I filed a claim I was told Moving Staffers offers .60 on the dollar of anything damaged, but ONLY if it's damaged while being loaded on the truck, not from faulty loading. It's a scam designed to protect the company and not your possessions. Avoid both U-Pack and Moving Staffers. Check references. read more

Great way to move on a budget. They were right on time, the trailer was clean and new. Only complaint was the ramp was heavy and hard to put in place. We used the entire length of the trailer and the ramp was too long to put sideways so had to leave the doors open. The driver who delivered was great and helped with the plywood doors and ramp. This experience was better than I could have expected. Are my expectations too low? Perhaps. Getting an online quote without submitting my contact information is the first big plus. To then talking with an agent who made it clear I wouldn't be charged until my shipment was in transit, this was great. The price quoted was what I was charged! Wait what?! It's true! The container was being shipped 1700+ miles arrived on time, in fact on the earlier side of the time window. While the contents were well packed everything was still intact despite the long hail. Moved from Minnesota to Texas Using U-pack. U-Pack made it drama and stress free. They delivered a 28 foot trailer to out Minnesota location on time, put it were we wanted it, helped set up the ramp and explained the bulkhead installation once the trailer was full. Once the trailer was full I called U-Pack and they picked up the trailer. You are able to track it every step of the way if you wish. and once it arrived in Dallas they called me and we set up a date for delivery. They delivered the trailer to our Texas location on time and even helped me remove the bulkhead. Once I finished unloading I simply called them and they picked up the trailer, it was as easy as it could be. For the same space, U-Pack price beats Pac-Rat and Pods by over 100 percent. I highly recommend looking into U-Pack for your local and especially for your long distance move. U-pack is definitely the best way to move. read more

We had a great experience with U-Pack until we dealt with the MN branch. We moved from NC to here and asked the staff is we could have the cubes dropped before we arrived that weekend. They do not deliver on the weekend. They said yes and asked for written permission, which I gave. After a flight on the delivery day, they call and say they cannot deliver because we are not there to sign for the cubes. We were never told that a liability signature would be needed and was never brought up. The apt complex was aware and willing to direct the cubes to be dropped off but not sign anything, as expected. We were charged a $150 dollar re-delivery fee, which was reduced to $75 after a lot of back and forth with the customer service in Eagen. We did not feel accommodated by the staff even though we had complied with all of their directions on the delivery. We filed a complaint on the Better Business Bureau and got our fee money back and an apology after some back and forth. A great concept, but we had this particular issue with the Eagen office. read more

Pack of deception and not telling people the truth until after they have your money. Used them because we were told they could have our belongings from MN to NY by the date we needed it. Even says 3-5 business days on our contract but turned into 5-7 business days 2 days before expected arrival. They told us that there was never a specific date and our things would not even arrive at distribution center until the next week and then we would be contacted for delivery. Called both corporate HQ in AR and the local branch in MN and no managers or supervisors to talk to and maybe they would call but basically there is nothing we are going to do about it. read more

I was moving across country and planning on renting a large van and driving with a friend. My friend heard of U-pack from someone who had a great experience with them. The price was a little lower than doing it ourselves. I did some research and found some negative reviews which gave me pause. I was assured that my friend's friend had a good experience and decided to go for it. My experience was amazing! The trailer showed up on time and we packed it in a matter of hours. It was promptly picked up. It made it to my destination, again on time, and promptly picked up. All along the way, the communication was excellent and the staff of U-pack were friendly, helpful, and professional. I saved a load of money; I paid about $2800 and had other quotes anywhere from $7000 to $12,000. I would do it again in a heartbeat! read more

Incredibly deceptive company. They are customer oriented until you make the reservation, at which point their 24/7 customer service is discontinued and replaced by 8-5 M-F. I was told I could cancel or change the reservation up to 24 hours before without a penalty. Once you reserve, it's seven days or there's a charge. And don't forget - they just cut your customer service availability dramatically. Suggestions, if you need to get through to them after you reserve and cannot, call from a different phone number. Miraculously, the 24/7 customer service will be restored if they don't recognize the phone number. read more

This was the best way to move a house full of things. The truck arrived at my old house on time, and the driver gave us many helpful tips for loading. We loaded the truck using 600 + feet of rope to hold it still, then called ABF U-Pack. They drove our things to my new house, and then we unloaded. Again, they were on time and helpful. It was 25% less than renting a U-hual truck BEFORE gas, so the overall costs were much less. Total move distance was 1600 miles. I'm very happy with this service. read more

I had a great experience using U-pack containers (2) for a move from Portland, ME to Minneapolis, MN. Now, granted, I did not have much furniture, so I'm not sure how well furniture would have fared over those 1400 miles, but everything else (including bikes, office chairs, lamps, modular shelving units, even a non-boxed ceramic flower pot) made it in the exact condition it left in, so I was very impressed. I chose U-Pack after reading some bad reviews of PODS, comparing BBB ratings, getting a quote from a full service mover that was way too high for my budget, and after realizing that they were significantly less expensive than renting my own truck, with gas & everything else factored in plus hauling my car. Plus it relieved me of the burden of driving halfway across the country during a time of the year with very unpredictable weather (December) & having to deal with any truck issues (which, I've gathered anecdotally from friends are not that uncommon). Plus truck rental has fairly strict pick up & drop off times whereas, it turns out, U-Pack works with what's convenient for you. This method was so much more convenient than renting our own truck because the containers were delivered almost 2 weeks prior to my actual move date (per my request), so I was able to pack progressively and spend some extra time shifting things around to make sure they were in their most stable configuration. No extra charges for the extra time. I also liked that you use your own locks - that way you know nobody has access to your stuff during transit or storage. On arrival in Minneapolis, they asked me what would be a good day for delivery. I chose Friday & even though my stuff had arrived by Tuesday, they did not charge me anything extra for those few days of storage. That would NEVER happen w/ a full service mover (and the quote we got from one full service mover was 2x what it cost to move w/ u-pack!). Perhaps most importantly, there were no surprise charges or additional fees tacked on. They stuck to their initial quote to the dime & there was never any hassle about payment or pricing. One thing I recommend is getting some ratchet straps to help hold things down inside. There are small slats with slits along the walls that you can put the hooks into & then tighten the straps across the top of the boxes/items. Also, pack heavy to light bottom to top & fill the space laterally so that everything ends up sitting as even as possible across the top - this will keep things from shifting around during the forklifting & transport. All in all, I don't think it could have gone better - I am still kind of amazed. read more

My husband and I have used U-Pack twice now. First, moving from MN to AZ and now that we had to come back, we used it AZ to MN. I think we are long due for a review. Price: The price is extremely fair. We checked PODS, U-haul boxes, and Mayflower. U-haul is cheaper, but the cubes are smaller and are wood. U-pack provides steel/metal cubes and they are extremely sturdy and cost effective. U-Pack also turned out to be much cheaper and easier than if we were to rent a truck and car trailer which we really didn't want to do anyway. They also provide discounts if you have AAA. Service: It is always a little scary to trust someone else with all of your belongings. With that said, I trust U-pack 100%. They provide tracking information and any time we needed to call, the representatives on the phone were very helpful and friendly. This most recent time, our cube actually came a week earlier than what we were quoted. The guys who drop off and deliver the cubes are just as friendly as the phone reps. They always gave us a call when they were about 30 minutes away. Cons: The only minor con is that I wish the cubes were just a tad bit bigger. We made it work, but just a little more space would be ideal. I think U-Pack is the best deal out of all of the cubes out there. I was really tempted to try U-haul boxes because they were so cheap. However, after reading horror stories about people waiting weeks on end to get their items and not knowing where their box was, I just decided stick with a solid company that we can trust. read more

While planning a move from Minneapolis to New York, I looked into every option I could think of. UPack+plane ticket was slightly more expensive than driving the entire way myself and decided that this would be worth the convenience. It was far less expensive than hiring movers. I also initially looked into the Pods company and UPack was much cheaper. I liked the idea of having the cube for a few days and being able to pack it myself (Tip: you get the pod for 3 business days, so if you can plan having the cube around a weekend, you get those extra 2 days). The customer service was very helpful, responsive, prompt, and respectful; the moving drivers I interacted with were great in both Minneapolis and Brooklyn and made sure the cube was easy for me to load into/out of; the cube was dropped off in both locations well within the 4 hour window with good notice; and all of my things arrived more or less just how I loaded them into the cube (minor damage due to my own packing negligence). I had a great experience with UPack and will definitely consider them again. read more

Talk about awesome! I spent hours calling around to get pricing, storage cost, and crate types. Upack was by far the best. They were great on the phone when ordering, delivered on time, it arrived in AZ from MN ontime! Each person I interacted with was great! The crates were nothing like the others I checked into. They were all metal/steel crates which gave me great comfort that my items inside would not be accidentally damaged from weather. Unreliable. Do not completely trust what they say! On the day the moving truck was supposed to be dropped off, they called and postponed its delivery until the next day. Then, the next day, they called and postponed it another day. Extremely frustrating, but I gave them a third chance because it was too late to find another mover on that short of notice. On the third day, they promised the truck would be there by 2pm. No show. I finally called at 3:30pm and was told by the driver that he "had some things to clean up around the shop and would be leaving soon." It would take them 1 1/2 hours to get to my place and by then it would be dark and it had already started snowing heavily by then. Unacceptable! --Three times I had people waiting around to help load the truck only for U-Pack to cancel and not show up on time. I had to cancel and rebook a flight and had to pay for two nights at a hotel because I had to be out of my place. I also had to pay for an extra storage unit. They totally messed up my move, costing me a lot of extra money and extreme stress during an already hectic time! read more

I used their services for moving from Minneapolis to Denver, CO and I couldn't have expected a more convenient service. Both, the person who picked and the person who delivered the Relocube, were very friendly. The customer support was good too. I had a lot of questions as I didn't have a destination address readily available when I shipped them and I wanted ABF to store them for a month. I had a really great experience with Upack. My wife and I had to relocate super short notice from Minneapolis to Seattle, and they were able to get us in on very short notice (literally 4 days before the move). PROS - The corporate phone customer support was really great. Real people that work with you to help in whatever way they can. - If you go the trailer route like we did, they don't limit you to storage space. They give you an estimate, but if you go over or under that footage, they just add it on or charge you less. - Super quick. Our stuff got from MN to WA in about 5 business days. - (Terminal loading) Can come after business hours, since it's a shipping yard there's usually SOMEONE there to help you. CONS (if you're doing a terminal load/unload) - The Eagan location was kinda difficult to find. - Customer service at the terminal location can be kind of flakey depending on the time of day you load/unload, considering it's usually just an employee of the shipping yard helping you and not a Upack rep, you might find yourself standing around waiting for someone to walk by. ADVICE IN GENERAL - Some places don't allow cubes/trailers to be left on the street or parking lots. This was the case with our city and landlord - neither allowed leaving the trailer/cube on the street, let alone over night. What we ended up doing was renting a Penske truck to load our stuff at our apartment and bring it to the terminal. Extra step, but it wasn't super bad though. - There is a lot of height in those semi trailers. We didn't have much, but I was able to tetris in all of our furniture in just the first foot of the trailer - Buy a good amount of tie straps (not bungie cords) to secure everything down. Put them everywhere you can think of to hold stuff down and to the walls. - Pack tight. Use similar sized cardboard boxes (Home Depot has them for way cheap). Try and have everything come right up to the partition wall they give you so fewer things go sliding around. - Use LOTS of furniture blankets. If two pieces of furniture are even slightly touching, it's going to rub together like sandpaper. Those trailers vibrate A LOT. We damaged quite a bit of furniture by not having enough padding. - Pack low to the ground and pay for the extra footage. Much better peace of mind not having boxes fall over onto each other and stuff breaking. read more

i have used u-pack twice now. the first time i was impressed with the customer service and the price. the second time the customer service in minnesota was again awesome...but when i arrived in michigan i was a little disappointed the hours were different and i was not made aware of this...i had to go the whole weekend without my items. Never had better customer service from a company. My original quote was about $500 more than driving a moving truck myself, with less space, but I got an email a couple weeks after my quote saying they had a discount available to me because I'm sure they realized I was pursuing another option and wanted to recapture my business. Well it worked. I called in and was given the option to load up part of a UBF truck myself at a shipping center (the rest of the truck got filled with freight), which was cheaper than having a box dropped at my house. So I loaded up the truck over two days, coming and going as I pleased, and was just asked that I come between 9am and sunset. Once packed, I was given a tracking number for the truck, which I could enter online to view its current location. The truck took about 7 days, oh, and my move was about $400 cheaper than if I had rented a moving truck and driven it cross-country myself. From getting a quote to scheduling times to load and unload at different shipping locations (one in MN, the other in CA), every single person I talked to with the company was so helpful, flexible, relaxed, reasonable, and sensible. U-Pack was great to work with. Everyone on the phone took their time to answer my questions and were amazingly accommodating with my unknown move in schedule. The phone staff were professional and genuinely friendly. The drop off and pick up people were equally accommodating and took the time to explain the trailer and loading ramp. I tied down my household items every 8' so I had little shifting and only a few minor scratches. Compared to the last "professional" move I had $6500.00 claim for damages and it cost 8 times more than U-Pack. I liked packing my own household item to assure they were secure. I packed antiques and a large pottery collection with no damage to any of them. U-Pack also stored my items/trailer until I found a house. My items arrived 2 months later, dry and the way I packed them. I got quotes from moving companies, other moving Pod companies and I couldn't be more pleased with my decision to use U-Pack.
