This restaurant is inside the Park Shore Hotel. It is quaint and fairly quiet. The food was good and Ms Tamiko was friendly and patient with good recommendations. It is a bit pricey so be prepared to spend.

Lunch at Yoshitsune while staying at Park Shore during my birthday staycation in Waikiki. Authentic menu, restaurant and service. This spot is tucked inside the hotel lobby so I had not actually heard of it before. Seated immediately and pointed towards the lunch special, which looked amazing, however I was with my daughter and she does not eat mushrooms and likes to share so we looked over the menu and picked out a couple of items. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tempura was some of the best I had ever had. The sashimi was also a really nice assortment and plentiful. While the menu has items priced fairly high, we were able to have a very affordable lunch! Beverages were available including tea, beer and wine, although we just had water after a long morning swim. Great spot!

I love this place. It's super traditional, affordable/wide range of prices from "cheap" to "overly expensive" and there's something for every one. They have an extensive menu with everything Japanese! We've tried their nigiri's, chirashi bowl, sukiyaki, miso glazed fish, tempura, udon, omakase. Everything is authentically Japanese. I LOVE their sukiyaki course. It's so good and not too sweet. They used such good beef too. I also go the chirashi bowl. It was so generous! Fresh raw fish, so plentiful. Their miso glazed butterfish is a must if you don't want to go the raw route. And their udon for our toddler was so good. He loved it. The tempura was fried to perfection, my FIL loved it. I love how extensive the menu is, but it's hard to pick bc everything is made so well here! Even the servers are Japanese and barely speaks English. The chefs are super nice too. We had a 1.5 year old toddler who couldn't hold still, so we took turns taking him to the lobby. The chef ran out with a box of hot wheels and let my son choose one. So thoughtful!! We try to come back every time we're in Waikiki. One of our favorite places.

In the middle of Waikiki, where plastic leis, watered-down cocktails, and overpriced fusion dominate the scene, Yoshitsune quietly keeps doing what it's always done: serve honest, traditional Japanese food with zero pretension. The chawanmushi arrives first, warm, delicate, and impossibly smooth. A blank canvas, if you're bold enough to improvise. We were. A scoop of fresh uni, ordered as sashimi, gently placed on top. Silky meets briny. Pure harmony. The fried oysters are crisp and clean, comforting but not heavy. Just the right bite. The sashimi is confident and unadorned--pristine slices, expertly cut, no unnecessary garnish. Just fish, done right. Then the steak hits the table, sizzling and fragrant, still whispering from the heat. Our kids didn't ask questions. They just dug in and didn't stop until the plate was wiped clean. We've returned here again and again over the years. Different trips, different moods, same result. Yoshitsune is tradition that never feels tired. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel. It's just reminding you how good the wheel already was. No flash, no show. Just craft, care, and food that keeps calling you back, even in the heart of Waikiki.

Incredibly delicious traditional Japanese restaurant inside the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel. I never would've thought to go here but we got a recommendation from a family friend. We called ahead to make a reservation for a table of 8. When we arrived around 6, the restaurant was half full. I ordered the two tier chirashi and it was so so so good. The fish was fresh and paired so great with the sushi rice. The sushi rice had the perfect amount of rice vinegar and overall seasoning. Staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is a bit on the older side and somewhat dark. We'll be coming back to try other dishes and to order the same thing!

Food was very tasty and with clear attention to detail (eg Tofu was not store bought). Service was prompt and friendly but not overwhelming. The ambience is low key and feels like a small shop in Japan. I recommend it. You must enter through the lobby of Park Shore hotel.

Nice Japanese Restaurant inside the Hotel by the Lobby! We came here to try OMEkase during lunch,16 specialty sushi picked by the chef. Fresh! Also tried with lunch special for $58, great price and great selection qnd yummy. Mayu our server is super sweet, she explained what she was serving to us. Overall great experience and plenty of food! Very reasonable!

Situated in the Park Shore hotel is Yoshitsune. Valet parking. Enter the hotel and the dining room we were in was almost through the kitchen Service was good, food delicious. I had the Masutake set. Masutake broth was so sweet and flavorful, I even ate every piece in the little pot. Tofu was so silky and noodle like. Tempura was good, not as crispy as I would have liked but still good. Generous portion of Masutake rice, I had to bring leftovers home. Room was crowded but still comfortable to have a conversation. I would return .

Our favorite meal of the trip! This restaurant is hidden in the lobby of a hotel, so you will have to park on the streets. Upon entering, you're greeted by friendly waiters who take you to your seat in an intimate restaurant. We opted to get the coursed meals, so we got the miso butterfish (36), salmon (33), and sashimi combo (50). Each course has little bites that come before the entree. First come the cold apps, and I couldn't even tell you what they were but each had a burst of flavor. Then we got the japanese steamed egg, which was what I came here for. And lastly, our entrees came with miso soup and white rice. We were even surprised they gave complimentary matcha ice cream at the end! The salmon was simple, seasoned with salt. The sashimi typically comes with 12 pieces with a variety of cuts. However, we only wanted salmon and tuna, so the wait accommodated for the request (free of charge), and let us know it would come with only 10 pieces though. It was more than enough and the fish was very fresh. And lastly, the miso butterfish (aka black cod) was our tables favorite! So flavorful, juicy, and fatty. What a great last dinner to mark the end of this trip, we will be back!

Lunch in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... I've heard about this authentic, old-school restaurant for a while and finally made plans with Irene to check it out. Located on the ground level of the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel, we both parked at a nearby elementary school that hosts a weekly Farmer's Market. (I did buy something at the Farmer's Market, so I really was a customer!) We were seated promptly and greeted in a customary fashion. The service was polite as usual for almost every Japanese restaurant. The place was cozy and quiet... like we were in Japan... because of the subtle decor... it was quite pleasant! I got the Tiered Chirashi. It had two layers of fresh seafood! The starters (fancy tofu and tsukemono dishes)and matcha ice cream filled me to the top! Now that's a Complete Meal!!! I was so happy! That was a really memorable experience!

Even with a decent amount of seating, there is minimal space so they ask that you leave your strollers outside. When we called the first time saying our daughter was asleep they arranged everything in order to fit the stroller inside. The second visit, I had an even bigger stroller because it was a double stroller for my daughter and son. When I said my son was asleep they again, quickly tried to arrange space for the stroller until we realized he woke up. I truly appreciate them being so welcoming because I've come across many establishments that are not especially towards kids. As for the food, the first time the tonkatsu was a miss for me. I was comparing it to a popular spot on the island that books out months in advance that I tried just before my first visit here and it just seemed a lot more oily and not as tender. We were actually going to eat at the other business again but with two kids and walking non stop on our trip already, I was so happy we had an option closer to us. Both times, we were coming from Hilton Hawaiian Village. They have the cutest car bento boxes for the kids, and they let you choose the car color. My daughter loved the mini umbrella that came with her plate. My son was days before turning 1 year old so a lot of things ended up on the floor and even then, they were so kind about it. The best thing though for my husband and I AND my son, was the loco moco which we were told was limited and a new item for dinner since it was primarily only served as a lunch option? The flavor of the gravy alone was sooo good and rich. My son ended up eating my whole portion of rice and gravy with no crumbs left behind or on the floor lol. The other katsu items we ordered were nice and lightly coated and were not heavily oily at all. The only thing that I felt lacked was their curry especially in comparison to their gravy. I would definitely recommend coming here and I can't wait to come back. That was one of our favorite new dishes this trip and we come every year!

I got the pork loin with shrimp combo (the mixed portion instead of the large), and everything was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. One of my favorite parts was grinding the sesame seeds myself in the little ceramic bowl with the wooden grinder, then mixing in the tonkatsu sauce. It made the whole meal feel interactive and intentional, and the sauce was SO good on the pork loin. I also ended up getting a refill of the cabbage because the sesame dressing they served with it was honestly addictive. I went around 8 PM to avoid the dinner rush and was pleasantly surprised I got a table pretty easily. Taking my time with the smaller mixed portion made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable instead of rushed. Overall, really delicious food, great atmosphere, and one of my favorite meals I've had in Waikiki so far. Pictured are the before and after of my dish. Probably a better "go with friends place" than a date.

Very random one morning after stopping by kona purveyors in Waikiki, I went to the restroom and while my husband was waiting for me he decided to randomly check if they had any reservations available and we were able to get one for the next day! Getting a reservation is definitely the way to go, I've seen people wait in standby however seating is not guaranteed since they prioritize those who have a reservation. The service was amazing! They are constantly checking up on you to see if you need anything else. I like how they offer different kinds of miso soup. I personally had limitations due to my shellfish allergy, but it was amazing! The katsu we ordered was one of the biggest one that they offer. It's crazy how big the katsu was and surprisingly it was super crispy, light, and even juicy in the inside! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try katsu in hawaii!

All the fish were from Japan and yes you can taste the difference. The fatty tuna was obviously my favorite but even the regular tuna and the hamachi was so buttery, it just melts in your mouth. Plus, it comes with real wasabi. Not horseradish, real wasabi. For the cooked dishes we got the hokkaido crab tempura with a side of matcha salt. One of the best tempuras I've ever had.
