BYOB‼ since a lot of people look past that. Although they have limited non-alcoholic drinks. Best sushi in Waikiki, everything is sooo fresh and a really great introduction to omakase if you're not familiar and want to give it a shot! Currently offered at $80. They offer daily specials so there's always something new to try. They have the best rolls ever, personal fave is the Leahi and Sunset. Chawanmushi has to be my favorite on the island. Staff here is incredibly friendly and fun! You'll always have a good time!

Near the beginning of Kalakaua Ave. before the shops, it is valet only parking for the restaurant in a hotel. As with most good sushi places, seating is limited at the counter so we made reservations in advance. They do accept walk ins for regular dine-in seating. We ordered the omakase for both of us and enjoyed the evening at the counter with Chef. She is from Japan and worked in California before she moved to Hawaii. We appreciated her expertise and enjoyed each and every serving that she graciously prepared before us. All the sashimi was fresh. The rice was perfectly seasoned. The ratio of fish to rice was also nicely proportioned. She even presented a few dishes with generous gold flakes. This establishment is BYOB and the staff are appreciative to partake when offered a pour :) A reasonable $230 before tip for two adults, this was a lovely evening and we may very well return. Thank you Chef and team!

Was craving sushi and wanted to try a different spot since we always go katsumidori. Though the me u is not as extensive as other sushi spots, the quality is super fresh. Ayumi was our waitress and she was so kind and attentive. Everything came out swiftly even though it was just one sushi chef working at 5 PM. Seared Trio A- seared engawa, seared toro, seared salmon. Every single nigiri was buttery and was the perfect amount of smokiness from the sear. Uni- most of the uni was fresh but I could taste some pieces had a bit more of an oceanic taste. Miso butterfish- buttery and flakey. The miso marinade was not overwhelming. Kileau roll- creamy California roll with delicious seared salmon. Really enjoyed this spot and cant wait to be back.

We've now been to Ya!!Sushi a few times, and it's quickly become one of our favorite spots in Honolulu. It's a small, intimate space that really elevates the whole experience - especially if you can grab seats at the counter (which we always do). The omakase is consistently fantastic, with beautifully prepared sushi that highlights both quality and craftsmanship. You can really tell the chef takes pride in every piece. What keeps us coming back, though, is the combination of incredible food and genuinely warm, attentive service. The chef and staff make you feel welcome every time, and the cozy setting makes it feel like a special night out without being over the top. Bonus: it's BYOB, which makes the experience even more fun and personal - bring a favorite bottle and enjoy an incredible meal to match. If you're looking for a memorable sushi experience, this place absolutely delivers.

Something is going on in a small sushi restaurant in Waikiki. It's like one of my favorite movies - east side sushi. In this place is a sushi chef that makes affordable omakase, has loyal followers and makes delicious sushi and sashimi! It's BYOB and yes, I grabbed a nice bottle of sake from Fujioka's and brought beer too! The service is fantastic and the sashimi was so fresh and good! The Leahi sushi roll was so good. I mean everything I ordered was great. It was so good I ordered two at times! The tako wasabi was so good and tasty! We shared sake with the chef and it was like Cheers in a small sushi bar in Waikiki. FREE VALET makes this place a winner!!!! As one of the locals said "don't take my reservation". They might be right. After this I may not be able to get in. Yes, I love this place. My wife loved it as well - it was her idea to go to this place. She's picking winners on Yelp!!!!'

Unreal! A perfect meal. Super nice, authentic Japanese dining experience. The fish was fresh and delicious. The specials were amazing. And the Wagyu seared sashimi was probably the best steak I've ever had. New favorite restaurant. AND FREE VALET PARKING. We'll be back soon.

Very convenient parking by the valet, authentic Japanese sensei preparing the food. Atmosphere is touristy and a little Waikiki-strip cheesy. Yes was Japanese style service but the kind that is very ridged and not balanced out by the kind and pleasant zenny service that we really appreciate from high level Japanese restaurants. A little more insertion of " aloha" might be helpful.

Took my mother to this new sushi spot in waikiki, the sushi was really fresh and the price was okay. The servers and chief were primarily japanese, I think, really nice and welcoming when we entered the restaurant. The restaurant is small so go with smaller groups, otherwise you may need the whole restaurant space. If I recall correctly, theres about 20 to 25 seats in there.

In the last three month my husband and I went there at least 5 times. Everything is fresh. Sushi chef is super nice and all the sushi she makes you can tell she put her heart in. It's casual and BYOB. I will keep on coming back. Very cozy small sushi hole in the wall feeling.

Location at the Luana hotel is low key & easy access in the beginning of Waikiki which is nice. Walked in a greeted by the friendly staff and chef. Seated with reservations and BYOB! Omakase varieties were very good in combination and the price point is great too for the excellent quality! I just let the chef decide and she did a wonderful job!

Ya Sushi Shaka and part of the seared trio A
    Susan M.

Sushi and service were amazing! We came before our reservation and were seated immediately. I had the seared trio A which came with salmon, toro, and engawa (halibut fin!): so delicious! Husband had Ya!!Sushi Shaka, which he enjoyed and shared. This little restaurant is apparently the more casual version of the downtown location. Making reservations on the website did not work; making reservations via Yelp did work. Some parties were able to walk in. Someone brought his own whiskey. A party of five were seated at the sushi bar.

Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). I also don't understand how Yelp lists this place as a "good for kids". It's not. There wasn't a kids' menu and the dishes were not kid-palate friendly (other than maybe the basic California style hand roll). For example, the fried tofu had shredded ginger on top that permeated the dish and the karaage had a very mild (but present!) note of spice that reminded me a bit of buffalo sauce. Our waiter didn't even give us a heads up or point us in the direction of any dishes to consider for the kids (surely we must not be the only family who has brought kids to this restaurant). Lastly, I understand that the tempura brownie is popular but after tasting the "tempura" on the tofu I'm sure the brownie is just the star that shines through. The "tempura" on the tofu was gummy and not the authentic Japanese tempura we are used to (my husband, who is part Japanese, said to me "What is this?! Cornstarch?"). This is probably a great restaurant for drinks and hanging out with some adult friends but the rolls and appetizers were just not to our tastes. We were also sat outside when the restaurant was near empty inside and out (we went around 4PM) and it was a hot day (though the AC wasn't particularly cool enough for my preference inside either).

Although they have a clean and comfortable space for dining in, we regularly stop by after church or on the weekends for something to savor at our favorite park. Seriously, it's easy to enjoy their bowls, sushi sets, or bentos anytime and anyplace. We've got a passion for this place. Here's how this love affair started...I discovered Domo when a friend invited me for some sushi and sips at her place. I was amazed at the beautiful platter of sushi that accompanied our sake and wine. My friends are the best hosts! I devoured the bombs, nigiris and rolls (in between sips!). Everything was simply delicious! Fast forward a few months, I order a couple sushi sets to host a poolside, golden-hour birthday get together at my other friend's home. (I know, you want to be part of this squad, right?!). Anyway, using the online order system is a snap! My hubby went in to pick up the sushi and said they were slammed but our sushi sets were ready to go. This time we ordered some ikura because the hubby and my bestie are big fans. Both agree it was fresh and fantastic! And the garlic set with the flash-seared fish and a hint of mayo is a MUST-try. We also ordered a California roll for my friend's aunt who is not really a sushi fan. She delighted in several pieces and even enjoyed the nigiri from the garlic set. Total convert! After enjoying the platters and sets, we had to try the bentos and bowls. This time it's just us and the pup at the park. The bentos provide a great variety and comes with miso soup. The hubby really likes the shrimp tempura with ahi and salmon nigiri and ahi poke. It's a steal at less than $20. I'm a bowl girl myself and like the spicy tempura. The tempura is cooked crisp yet tender. The spicy ahi poke combined with the creamy crab salad and the crunchy ocean salad delights all my tastes buds. It's truly an adventure in finding the perfect bite--and there are so many in this bowl! I also love the seared salmon bowl. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I add the fried onions for some texture. You know a place is top-notch when you can feel confident that anything off their menu will satisfy your cravings. Because this is a Yelp review, here are some helpful tips. For sushi platters, pre-order. The online system is simple to use. Service is fast and efficient if you're just walking in for a quick bite or to grab something to go. Parking has always been easy for us to find in the small lot in the complex where Domo is located. It's right next to Assagio's Kahala. But if you're worried about parking, I suggest ordering in advance and then just picking up. This works great during peak dining hours. If you want fresh, delicious sushi that is reasonably priced be like us and visit Domo Café. You will probably also be like us and want to go back to try more.
