Super authentic Korean food located in OC! I am from LA area, and feel like this place is up there even with the Koreatown locations I've been to. I have only tried take-out from this place, but they don't usually have a wait. What really surprised me is how solid their banchan is - all of them were so good and they gave such generous portions! I got the manduguk and my friend ordered the octopus stir fry, and both were super delicious. You can order by phone, which is what I did, and the Korean ahjummas were super friendly and gave me great recommendations since it was my first time ordering from them. Came here with a friend on a hot day after moving in to my new apartment. Both her and I shared a cold noodle combo with kalbi. Loved the side dishes, the kimchi was not the sour more watery kind which is my favorite. The cold noodle was super refreshing and the hot bone broth they leave at the tables were flowing!! Off this combo, we were stuffed. The cold noodle was flavorful and the broth was sweet. The kalbi came on a sizzling bed of onions and it was not tough. I will definitely be back! Service was standard, we came on a Sunday before noon and noticed it got packed around noon to the afternoon. Parking is nice and spacious, just make sure you are parking in the right spots that aren't designated to the business across the restaurant. read more

Wanted Korean food and this placed popped up on Yelp so we decided to give it a try! It's more of a Korean place than Chinese. We ordered Fried Flounder, Rabokki, Pork Katsu, Korean tofu, Bulgogi, and Fried Calamari. The bulgogi was yummy! Overall, food was good but not amazing. Some of the flavors got a little repetitive after having them a lot, but that might be just because we weren't eating family style. Service was very good; they provided us with iced water, kids utensils, and even treated us to their dry and cold noodles! Oh and complementary beef soup was tasty! Today I had the pleasure of finally getting to try this place. My coworker and I came here for lunch. I had been wanting to try some Korean food and so she brought me here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a hello. We sat down and since my coworker has been here before she served me some of their delicious beef broth that is on the table . They have it on a thermos and you can serve yourself. Let me just tell you that if all beef broth tasted this good I would drink it more often. It was so tasty and delicious! Then we placed our order and I ordered the half seafood and half beef tofu hot soup. My friend ordered the cold noodles ( not sure of the name) she left me try some and they were so good,perfect for a hot day like today. My hot soup came out still bubbling hot and I went ahead and added the egg and mixed it around. They bring you some side dishes like, kimchi, hot cucumbers, pickled radish, fish cake pieces, and some other ones that I am not sure the name of them. They give you a variety of banchan, their kimchi, radish and pickled cucumbers are among my favorites. They give you bone broth as well. Came for weekend lunch and wasn't too long of a wait despite how busy it was. They took my order before I sat down so my food came out pretty quickly. I recommend the spicy skate naengmyun. You can get better jjamppong and jjajangmyun from Paik's and it would be cheaper. The tofu stew was watered down yet salty. Dolpann Kimchi Jaeyuk- was good, but I think it's on the saltier side since there's less rice provided than the kimchi & pork. I got the LA Galbi and the kimchi soon tofu soup. Since it's a combo, the galbi was so small and there's not enough meat. I think if you order it separately, it might come in a bigger dish? The kimchi soup was also on the saltier side. There were some decent side dishes like the cucumber, pink radish, and kimchi, but the pumpkin was a weird one to throw in. Bone broth soup at the table was really good. It was warm and soothing. We wanted to try Yoo's because we saw it when we went for drinks at Bober Tea on the weekend. It was packed on a holiday night, so we came back on a Friday for early dinner, and it wasn't too busy yet. It's spacious inside, lots of light. I was in the mood for a noodle soup, so the boss lady recommended the knife-cut noodles, and the portion was huge, and the taste was so on point. I've been to other places where it tastes bland, but not here. It warmed my soul. It had a ton of mini clams and some veggies. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the broth really hit the spot. I think potatoes would be an awesome addition, but it was still really good without. My daughter got the sulungtang, and she loved it. My boy got the dukkmandooguk, and he liked it. I tasted the mandoo, and it was okay. I appreciate purple rice and the side dishes. I would say a lot of the side dishes were on the sweeter side. Their spicy cold noodles are really good, but it's on the sweeter side if you like it that way. The jajang myun was on the sweeter side too. The food came out quickly. The lady server was nice. I didn't get to try the broth in the thermos, but my kids did, and they liked it. Water cups are small, so make sure you let them know you want water in advance, as in, anticipate your need for a water jug refill when she's there giving you your food because ours wasn't refilled even though we asked; no biggie, though, because we went to Bober Tea for drinks after. Picked this place in Irvine for a casual Friday night dinner with family. The places was packed at around 7. We were lucky as there was a couple of free tables when we showed up but this place is busy and I am not sure why as the food was just ok, nothing special compared to other Korean joints in Irvine and the prices are high. A beef and mushroom hot pot was $27 and the bulgogi platter was $29! Crazy prices. Also the fluorescent lights are so bright and annoying. Don't think will visit again. read more

All the food look so comforting and warm. They had a kettle for us with bone broth to drink, which I haven't seen elsewhere. We ordered Seolleongtang, rice cake soup, bossam, and tofu soup. You can customize the spice levels for tofu soup. They had side dishes as well. I really enjoyed the packed flavor from Seolleongtang. They also had a spicy cold noodle, which was so good. It was refreshing and not too spicy. The bossam was ok. After I tried their rice cake soup, I am so impressed and became a fan of it. Had a reservation here for a birthday celebration and was very impressed by all of the food! This is an authentic Korean-Chinese restaurant and had a small mom and pop vibe. We ordered a variety of dishes and did family-style. I was a big fan of their seafood pancake, galbi, and spicy pork dishes. Their jjangmyun wasn't my favorite as it used spaghetti noodles and didn't have any spice to it- but still tasted decent! The service here was really quick and everything was made fresh. Got combo spicy seafood and beef tofu with spicy pork - was very good! Daughter got the mild beef tofu and galbi that was good too. They gave us complimentary cold noodles that was awesome and REFRESHING! We were both surprised how good it was since we never had it and wouldn't have ordered it - we are not too familiar with Korean food so we order what we know. But now that we tried it, we wont hesitate to order it again especially in the summer! My go-to for Korean if I don't want to cook it myself. We have been going here for a few years now and usually get tangsuyuk, jjajangmyeon and galbi which my kids love and I either will get the jjamppong or mul naengmyeon depending on weather. Their banchans are also pretty good but I won't fill up on those (gotta make room for the good stuff)! My two absolute fave thing about this place is the beef bone broth they put on the table alongside the water pitcher and when they give you "service" of something. Basically giving you a small sample of a dish for you to try. We were given the bibim guksu a few times and I think the naengmyeon as well. I recommend avoiding the dinner rush because it does get very busy and the wait times can get long. When we go for lunch, there are usually only a few customers so we get great service and attention from the waitstaff. But during the dinner rush (and rightfully so), it will take so much longer to get their attention and ask for things. Food is amazing so definitely try it out as the weather is warming up! read more

This is my second time here and I like them even more knowing that they're all bay area sports fans since I'm from San Francisco. Go Warriors, Giants, Niners! This time I brought my girlfriend's parents after going to the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday night as we got greeted and seated right away with a pitcher full of hot liquid. It's like you're going to grandmas where it's very homey and feeling loved. I originally thought it was a hot barley tea but I was surprised by the HOT BONE BROTH. Oh my goodness it was amazing. We couldn't decide what to order since everything looked so good but the banchan / side dishes came right after we ordered: - Bossam / Pork Belly: I always love getting Bossam anywhere we go because it feeds 4 people pretty well. I loved all of the sauces, green onion garnishes and everything and it was tender. Although I feel like some pieces were a little drier than others but it makes sense since it has less fat. I think it could have been a little bit more tender or cut thinner. However, when I put it into my broth to warm it up it made it nice and succulent. 4.5/5 - Sulongtang / Ox Bone Soup: My girlfriend's go to and it was a good size for her and her mom to share with great flavor. Everything you want for a cold day 5/5. - Ddukmanduguk Special /Rice Cake and Dumpling Beef Soup): I was in the mood for some rice cakes and they definitely delivered. You get 3 HUGE mandu /dumplings and I loved the seaweed added. 5/5 - Soondooboo / Tofu Soup Beef: I think her dad said he preferred Kaju's over Yoo's place but he still enjoyed it. 4/5 - Free Banchan / Side Dishes - All of them were wonderful. I loved the fresh kimchi. Cucumber. Fish Cakes. Some kind of Jelly thing. I think the Kabocha Squash could have been a little bit softer as it was hard for my gf's mom but I still ate it as it was good protein and they refilled them super fast also! 4.5/5 - Surprise Naengmyun - Later on they said that was on the house. IT WAS SO GOOD. I would go back to eat a full order of this. Funny as I was just watching Chef's Table Noodle and wanted to eat some Naengmyun. Sweet and not too spicy. 10/10. Overall, we had such an incredible experience there. Service was top notch and all of the food was bomb. If I'm ever in the area and wanting some korean food, this is the spot. It gets pretty busy between 12-12:30pm so if you want a table immediately, I would recommend coming a little bit before noon or after 12:30. I love Jjanjangmyyeon and it has been one of my food life goals to find the most authentic place that serves this dish in SoCal! First off, the service is phenomenal here!!! I know I'm not related to the owners but every time I came here they made me doubted if I was ever a long lost family members of them! I don't know the main lady owner but if you're a regular here you know who I'm talking about! She is so sweet and has such nice skin! Everyone here actually are super nice and attentive to every customers and this is one if not the best service I have received at any restaurants! Jjanjangmyeon - you know that smoky flavor that you can only get if you do an original old style wok stir fry? Where in the end before they pour over the food, they squirt water around the wok to get some fire in there to finish off the stir fry? They do that here! The flavor is sooo good! And there are many big pieces of deep fried pork in the bowl too. It is sooo satisfying slurping the sauce, full with deep smoky flavor and chunks of deep fried pork, cabbage, zucchini, onions and some cucumber! It is sooo good and I'm pretty sure I could finish the whole bowl myself! Tangsook - sweet and sour pork. I'm a team dipping but sometimes I'm a team pour too. Their Tangsook here is big, the batter is light and they don't skim on the meat! The pork is so chewy and the batter is light and crispy and if you dip, you'll get that crunchy light soft texture on your first bite. If you pour, it will be a light soft and chewy texture. So good either way!! Kalbijjim - I always get the medium portion here and it is huge enough so I'm not sure how much more meat will the large be, must feed like 6 people! The braised shirt ribs are so tender and fall off the bones so easily! There are big pieces of tteokbokki and small flat Chinese noodles. It is so good and so satisfying! This is the perfect plate to share. So much flavor! We also ordered spicy octopus bibimbap and the hamburger steak plate and those were so good too. The sweet lady owner also brought us cold noodle, a large bowl. She said this is good with the Kalbijjim. We tried our best not to finish the cold noodle before the Kalbijjim even came out! It's such a nice finish to our meal! The menu is impressively large enough to cover almost every popular Korean dishes! This is a very authentic Korean food restaurant! I also love the fact that it's very clean and the ambience is very homey! There are small plates and bowls, chopsticks and spoons at the table.
