Was craving brunch in the area so had to stop by here on a Saturday afternoon. The wait was about 20 min (sadly we were just a couple min behind 3 other parties). The eggs Benedict was delicious but I was surprised at the size, as eggs benny that I've gotten at other places are often quite bigger. The kale smoothie was actually so delicious and smooth I was pleasantly surprised. Our favorite item though had to be the crispy French toast. Ok, I can't believe I haven't been here before. I'm pretty sure we've had delicious egg sandwiches from their food trucks. Everything on the menu sounds incredibly good. I had panko crusted French toast - so original and so so good. Crunchy crispy and great flavour. The banana walnut has candied walnuts - sooo good. I also tried part of chicken and waffles. The waffles are really well done. All of their eggy and sweet stuff is just fantastic. Lemon truffle potatoes are really good too. Service is fairly decent and it wasn't that crowded when we came. The food here is delish. I had the mushroom eggs Benedict, and I was so glad they did a half portion. The full portion is $16.95 and half is 13.95, which doesn't seem like a big difference; however, the half is not really half. The Benedict sandwich was still filling and there was a hefty portion of truffle potatoes to accompany it. With my re-fillable black coffee, it ended up just over $18 before the tip. It may seem pricey for a breakfast, but the taste was delicious and it was well-prepared. Plus, where else can you get truffle potato wedges with your eggs? Mmm! The space is bright and well-organized. There are booths, long tables and bar seating. If you sit by the window, you get a view of the street and passers by. Wow, who knew a food truck breakfast could be so awesome? Yolks has it all figured out and is a definite "must-visit" on our frequent trips to Vancouver. First things first, their coffee is AMAZING! I can't remember the brand, but it's awesome, and I like to get a big cup to sip while awaiting the yummy goodness that awaits. For our first visit to Yolks we shared a breakfast sandwich and their famously fantastic truffle potatoes on a stick - the taters are worth the trip, and are delicious. The sandwich was also amazing, with a perfectly poached egg nestled between two crisply english muffin halves, garnished with thick bacon, and doused with creamy hollandaise sauce. On our next visit we fully intended to enjoy another breakfast sandwich, but when we found out they had pancakes on the menu that day we ordered those instead - again, we had an overwhelmingly wonderful breakfast experience (which is saying something since you have to sit outside on a wall to eat it - this place is THAT good). Prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. Prepare to wait in line, but they get your order out as quickly as they can (and nice and hot). Breakfast food cart? Yes I'm in! During the 9-5 work week it's hard to find a small, quick breakfast before I head to the office. I love having an egg sandwich in the morning but the hard part is finding someone that actually makes a decent egg sandwich that wasn't prepared hours ago. I often find myself heading to McDonald's for an Egg McMuffin - at least they are *almost* made to order. Enter Yolk's Breakfast food cart located on Beatty & Dunsmuir St - conveniently at the top of the stadium skytrain station. For me it's perfect, I can park on the street if I'm driving to work or if I'm on my bike it's right on the Dunsmuir bike lane. 3 minutes after my order I got my ham, spinach, egg and hollandaise on a toasted english muffin. I would have liked some cheese in there but I wasn't going to complain. The egg was poached perfectly and the hollandaise was delicious, I'm happy. The downside is trying to eat a runny poached egg breakfast sandwich by hand, a challenge I gladly accepted. I look forward to making this part of my regular breakfast routine. read more

If Yolk's truffle-lemon hashbrown skewer were a man, I would be too nervous to talk to him. Unless I was tipsy, and then i'd say something wildly inappropriate. Seriously. I have a mad crush on these potatoes. I've heard the buzz on Yolk's for quite awhile but never had the chance to stop by until Food Cart Fest. On launch day, by the time I made it back for a meal they were nearly sold out and so i hastily ordered what was left - a double smoked bacon sandwich with two poached eggs & hollandaise sauce on ciabatta. The potatoes were an after thought. And thus began the obsession. First off, my spud crush is deceivingly simple. When I got my rather plain looking skewer of nugget potatoes I thought... well nothing really. It was a stick of potatoes. How magical could that be? Turns out, very. These potatoes are some of the best things i've eaten this year. Well cooked and SO flavourful without being super overpowering. I could have eaten four servings, no problem. Damn fine spuds. Whatever you happen to head to Yolk's for, grab a skewer and see for yourself. They were out of the chicken and waffles so I settled on a double smoked bacon sandwich with two poached eggs & hollandaise sauce on ciabatta. Ddddaaammmnnnnn. I was a darn fine sandwich. And I finally understand the mention of "Yolk fingers". Those eggs will explode in yolky goodness and make this a messy but ultimately insanely satisfying experience. The sandwich was SO good that I made an extra, out of the way trip, back down this past weekend to relive it. But word of warning - take multiple napkins and perhaps not order this if you're in your Sunday best. Well unfortunately we had a terrible food poisoning experience at the food truck about a month ago. My spouse had eaten a raw breakfast sandwich which we waited 30mins for so was a bit confusing. Picture of meal is attached. After he ate half the sandwich it caught my eye :( He became ill by the evening but nothing serious was fine the following day.The Yolks owner was contacted and was very apologetic and understanding and picture was sent to him and he did say he spoke to his staff regarding the incident. walked over a mile just to try this! It's a truck that's parked on the corner of Beatty and Dunsmuir. Great place to get some food. It does take a while to make, so don't get this unless you have at least 5 minutes to wait. There's a menu posted on the side of the truck, and how it works is you choose what type of meat (or vegetable) you want, then you choose what type of sauce (hollandaise or cheddar), then you choose whether or not you want 1 egg or double everything. If you chose 1 egg, your food will come between an English muffin. If you chose to double everything, you get to choose between Benedict style or on Chibatta. I got the Ham/Hollandaise/Double everything/Benedict style, and it was amazing. I engulfed my food, and it goes GREAT with their orange juice. Freshly squeezed and perfect for the morning. I also recommend getting the Truffle-Lemon Hashbrown Skewer. It comes with about 5 or 6 pieces of potato on a skewer, and they go great while you eat your poached egg (especially once all that yolk has dripped out!). The problem I do have with this place is the price and the portion size. If you just order what I described above (with NO drink or Skewer) and you double everything, it comes out to OVER $10. Not only that, the order is pretty small. Even after my double everything, hashbrown skewer, and orange juice, I was still a little hungry and dissatisfied. I decided to stop by on a Sunday morning. Yolk's is located right next to the Skytrain station, so it is pretty convenient if you are taking the skytrain. I drove there, but was able to find street parking pretty easily. Just had to walk around all the people waiting for Cafe Medina down the street (people waiting on both the sunny and shaded sides of the street, which is pretty interesting). There were only two people ahead of me, but after ordering, we sill had to wait about 15 minutes for the food. We ordered: Banana pancakes: this came with whipped cream and syrup, and was pretty good (pricey at $8.45). Double egg, bacon, hollandaise sandwich on English muffin (8.95). I had this done in eggs Benedict style. This dish was really good, with the requisite runny eggs and crispy bacon. Truffle lemon potato skewer (2.75). This is a deep fried potato skewer: I really liked how the lemon highlighted the taste of the potatoes. If you are in the area, or don't feel like waiting for brunch at Cafe Medina, definitely try this place out. The food was pretty good, although a little expensive (22.00 for three items), but fair for Canada. Another plus: they take credit cards. read more

I saw pictures of Yolk's sandwich on Twitter somewhere and got really excited to try them out. I went down for lunch one day and happened to just end up behind a group of maybe 5 or 6 that ordered practically everything. They weren't really prepared to handle so many people I guess, because it took a good 15 min just to order and then a good 30 min to get our food. I had the Panko-Tempura Avocado w/ Salsa Verde + Real Hollandaise + 1 egg on an English Muffin AND added extra double smoked bacon ($7.50 + 2.75). On picture everything looks amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached, the avocado had a nice crispy tempura exterior, and the bacon was nice and crispy as well. Make sure you aim away when you bite into it, because the yolk just shoots right out! Taking the first bite into, it's a bit of a disappointment as everything seems a tad under seasoned. Nothing really stood out, and the hollandaise sauce was surprisingly really light. Next time I think I'll have to add some spicy sauce or something to really add some kick. The Truffle-Lemon Hashbrown skewers ($3.50) were pretty good. Nice truffle flavour, but I think they were slightly over salted, which might have contributed to my bland experience w/ the sandwich. The first time I went to Yolk's, there were about 4 people in line at the truck. No big deal. What was a big deal was that it took 30 minutes for my breakfast sandwich to be made. Something's not right there in terms of logistics - don't know if they were just training someone new? The sandwich I had was delicious - one egg, with double smoked bacon and arugula, as well as aged cheddar, on an English muffin. Oh baby. So good. So good that I braved the possible wait to go back again today - had the same thing, and it was just as good - and the wait was a much more reasonable 10 minutes. I don't mind waiting 10 minutes on a sidewalk for freshly prepared food - but 30 minutes is entering "I should be seated at a table in a restaurant with a beverage" territory. Too long for a truck. After being recommended this place (often), we decided to check it out. The restaurant had me at flow chart menus, gluten free bread, and free range eggs. I love a place that prides themselves in real food at real prices. Our table of 5 waited 30 minutes for a table. We had 2 tardy people and normally they will not sit your table unless you have the entire table. Fortunately for us, our server (normally I'm good at getting names but I missed it) allowed us to order and wait for our friends. I had the portobello mushroom with hollandaise on the side, 1 egg (which was plenty), gluten free bread (hot, toasted, DELICIOUS) and a side of truffle-lemon hash browns. Plus I added avocado, spinach, and tomatoes because I'm super healthy (and I ordered with my stomach). Everything was so amazing and real. I have no complaints except for I ordered too much. I found either the ham or the dijon tasting a little off but overall it was a solid benny, the Portobello Mushroom is a better choice in my opinion, The Truffle Lemon Hashbrowns are definitely worth trying, a zesty twist on a brunch classic! Tried the Belgian Waffle with the Salted Caramel at the Food Cart fest and it was disappointing as the sauce was bitter, maybe it was burnt. My neighbour's French Toast looked amazing though. I came at around 1:30PM on a Sunday and the lineup took forever, 5 stars any other day but it wasn't worth waiting 45mins+ for on this particular Sunday. Tried the food truck out on a Wednesday morning around 10:30 am. I had 2 eggs and the serving size of ham and hashbrowns was perfect. My egg centres weren't runny like they're famous so that was a bit of a bummer, other than that, they were cooked and seasoned well. Their house made dijon was really nice and the aged white cheddar was tasty too but I would have liked much more. I was most excited to try the hashbrowns, the lemon flavour was different in a good way, but I couldn't taste the truffle at all so that was disappointing. And for $10.75, I'd walk down another block to Frankie's Italian Kitchen for some real food, like their pasta, for yes, $5 more but for sure you'd be full and satisfied. For a quick breakfast it hit the spot. I got the Spinach, Ham and Cheddar on a biscuit with a large coffee. The muffin was the right amount ofcrispy with a little burn for character. The egg was cooked perfectly, just enough run to add a little fun to the sandwich without being overly messy and the ham was tender and full of flavor. Girlfriend got the Avocado tempura egg sandwich with cilantro and hollandaise sauce. She really enjoyed it. Her caramel latte hit the spot as well. On a dreary Sunday morning when the lineup for Cafe Medina was too long this was a little spot of sunshine. I tried the panko-tempura avocado egg sandwich with one egg on the ciabatta bun. The sauce was great, and I love that they had the option of an organic whole grain bun. For the love of breakfast, this is a food cart that's not to be missed. On a cool Friday morning, I finally got a chance to visit this light blue truck, serving some delicious breakfast sandwiches that rival some of the popular brunch spots in town. With a simple menu of bacon & arugula, portobello, or ham & dijon, I easily picked out my favourite- the portobello with aioli, with double poached eggs, on a whole wheat ciabatta. Then I was asked, "With cheddar or hollandaise?" I really couldn't decide. So I went for both. Of course, with an order of the truffle lemon potato skewer. Wow. This sandwich could be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The bun is soft, yet toasted with the aged cheddar melted on. The poached egg is perfect- soft, so it oozes when you bite into it. With the addition of the portobello and arugula, every bite is decadent. The skewer of potato was also good. Crisp, and perfectly seasoned. Add some of that homemade spicy ketchup, and you have yourself some awesome potatoes. So this was so good that I went back the next day. This time, I had the double smoked bacon sandwich. Just as good. What I didn't quite enjoy was the chicken and waffles. The chicken were in bite sized nugget pieces, and was lacking flavour. The waffles were average. Oh. My. Dear. Darwin. I am spoiled forever on food trucks. Altanta's food truck scene is only just starting to take off, but I don't think it will ever compare to Yolk. We wandered over here on our 3rd morning in Vancouver, and my mind was completely blown. I had their daily special - a duck confit breakfast sandwich with an incredibly, perfectly cooked runny-in-the-middle egg. It was one of the best breakfast things I have ever put in my mouth - for serious. The lemony grilled potatoes were also spectacular. I found this place on Yelp and was really looking forward to try it out. We walked from our hotel and were second in line as they opened at 10am. I ordered the bacon, hollandaise, muffin with a potato spear and a coffee. My wife had the bacon, cheddar, muffin with a potato spear and hot cider. I asked about the "combos" I had read about on Yelp, but those are only available on weekdays and so the total was almost $30 which kid of felt like $10 more than I wanted to spend at a food truck honestly. We got our hot beverages straight away (they don't have decaf coffee - FYI) and waited. It didn't take that long before they were calling us up to get the food. They got my wife's order wrong (no cheddar, but hollandaise like mine); the potatoes weren't hot at all - barely warm - and the size of the portion was a little disappointing (given the price charged). The flavor of the potatoes was great, but their temperature really detracted from the experience. On the plus side the bacon was great, as was the muffin and their poached eggs were cooked very well. Visiting Vancouver for a Sunday afternoon and no brunch reservations??!! What's a girl to do? Wait 45 minute for a table? Surely not.. I was fortunate to happen upon Yolk just as they were getting ready to pack up for the day. Lucky me. Asked for a recommendation and received a tasty egg sandwich with bacon and mushrooms. The egg was runny and the yolk had the orangey-orange color of only the very best eggs. Also enjoyed the truffled potato skewer, all for only about $12 Canadian. That's like $6 American, right?? Those white truffle potato skewers are to die for. This is a great food truck for a tasty and fresh breakfast sammie. The flavours are great, and you can really customize your sandwhich to ensure you get what you want. I swear food trucks are the way of the future. There should be a permanent 24 hour food truck parking lot somewhere in this city. Make it happen food truck gods! read more
